I LOVE pizza, and I rarely want to stray from my Lou's....however, sometimes I need to give some business to the other guys. Mike and I went here to get a nice pie, and we did just that. The place was packed, I mean packed...I went in to put our names in while Mike drove around the parking lot for 10 minutes trying to find a spot. I found two nice seats at the bar, which was really lucky! By the time Mike got in there I had eaten about a pound of peanuts....so good! Even on a weeknight and two-thirds full it was a bit noisy, but it wasn't so bad that you couldn't carry on a conversation. Bill's Pizza has a pretty big following locally for good pizza. We had a magarita pizza and a cheese and sausage at the table and neither was much above average. While all the ingredients weren't great, they were not bad, which makes for decent pizzas but not something I'd think much about or drive aways to get. Appetizers were the garlic bread which was pretty bland and mini-tacos which didn't come with sour cream, which I figured should have (as it is included everywhere else I've had them). Pretty average here too. Wanted to try something else on the menu I tried the steak sandwich. I was asked if I wanted cheese on top, which was an upsell I'm sure, but was worth it. The steak had nice consistency, was cooked to my preference, had a good flavor, and was put into the broiler for a minutes to melt the fair portion of mozzarella on top. A nice sandwich. The bar selection is average for this type of restaurant and pricing was a little above what I'd expect, but not excessive. Overall, a nice family place that you can probably get away with taking your loud kids too because the ambient noise will blend them right in. A return trip here is likely. read more

I went back to Bills Pub for the first time in about a year or so. Took my boyfriend up to the burbs to hang out with my brother and have some of the best pizza in the Chicago Metro Area. And I was really disappointed. We got the double decker 4 cheese with Onions and Garlic. My partner and I are vegetarians, my brother doesn't like mushrooms, and won't eat green peppers on pizza. So eh. It smelled good. Tasted great! But it was.... disappointing. It was somehow lacking. The crust was crispy, but thinner than it had been in the past. Less sauce, less cheese, and, I honestly feel, less crust. According to a few people I still know in the area, it's ben that way in a while. The pizza is mediocre, however, the service is friendly and polite! All of the servers were very accommodating when my loud family came in to celebrate a graduation. The free basket of peanuts they serve are tasty and salty, just like peanuts should be. I couldn't help myself from NOT throwing the peanut scraps onto the floor. I've been going to Bill's Pub and Bill's North for years. I'm so disappointed after the experience I had this evening. I ordered a Broasted Chicken Dinner, and it was my first experience trying their chicken and pickup vs. dinning in. So after paying $45 for "dinner", I highly would not recommend this establishment. I received my order 8 pieces of chicken a few fries. That's it! I called to check what came with this dinner I ordered. 12 pieces of chicken, 1lb coleslaw, 6 rolls, fries or broasted potatoes. I requested broasted potatoes and white meat only when ordering. The girl had me on hold for way to long when I called. She then was telling me I called the wrong location. I said that's funny. I was at your Mundelein location a couple weeks ago, are they now serving chicken? no... Long and short... I will not be back to give my business to Bill's Pub or Bill's North. Stopped in out of sheer morbid curiosity and I was not disappointed. I sat at the bar and made a to go order. Hungry and in a hurry. The food and bar menu were incredibly limited. The atmosphere campy. There were maybe 10 people in the whole place and despite that, food that I intentionally ordered because I knew were quick, took 20 minutes (Literally. I used to work in restaurants and know what a kitchen can push out in 5-7 minutes. I grew up eating Bills (the one in Mundelein) and have frequented this one as well. Now that I live in Chicago I don't get to go as much as I'd like to but whenever I can I go. It's seriously still better than any pizza here in the city. I'm sure many won't agree with me but I'm entitled to my opinion. The double decker sausage is to die for. We went in on a Saturday night with a party of 10, including kids. It was busy, but we had our table in the 30 minutes they promised. I didn't expect great service, but I was so impressed! Our server was awesome. Everything arrived on time, food was hot and she kept an eye out for anything we needed. Went here on numerous occasions, mostly for celebratory reasons. Pizza here is fantastic! Closest you can get to Chicago style pie. But the reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because of one experience. I ordered an Italian beef for delivery and boy, from a place that had this much positive reviews and popularity, I must say I was disappointed. This is the first time I've had an Italian beef that was sopping wet with grease, but also bone dry at the same time. At that point I noticed not only did they forget to put cheese on the sandwich, but there were no gardinier peppers either. What I was left with was an overpriced greasy sock with some meat in it. The best thing out of this was the coke I bought. In conclusion, Bill's Pub will keep getting my business because maybe they have a weak Italian beef, and I've been going here too long to let one experience ruin everything. I can name 15 places for pizza that I hit in Lake County, and I keep coming back to this one over and over. For thin crust, this place is great. My ONLY complaint is they only have small and medium sizes - for some strange reason there is no large. Kids will sometimes order broasted chicken instead, which I've stolen a piece from here and there and is good as well. Kids and I will go there for dinner, but takeout works too. If you go there, its a "basket of peanuts with shells on the floor" kind of place, in case you have allergies. They have video game room near entrance, very kids and family friendly. Not a place to really sit and have a beer a the bar, although they do have TVs there... and it works to sit there and grab a beer if you're waiting for a takeout 'za. read more

This spot used to have good service, but not anymore. This is the second bad experience in a row and I won't be coming back. In January we ate inside and the bar service could not have been slower. Bottom the bottle of wine pours and wrong beer orders. The pizza order was mixed up too. I ordered a 14 inch pizza for take out and it took over 45 minutes. The restaurant wasn't that crowded and the take out waiting area was almost empty. I have ordered from Antioch Pizza on a Friday night and it tool 29 minutes. First their pizza is solid and they would be a 4.5 star rating if it wasn't for the sizes and pricing. I ordered a "large" one topping pizza and paid the area average of $18.xx. The problem is that their large is 14" when places like RL Olando's and Antioch Pizza Shop charge the same price for a large that's 16". Bills doesn't even have an option for a larger pizza should you have to feed 3-4 adult males. The 14" is gone just between my brother and I and now we need another pizza for my father and nephew. We prefer this location over the Mundelein Bill's. It's larger and far less claustrophobic. Every time we go it seems to take a long time for someone to come to the hostess stand and seat us. That's not a huge deal, however many servers pass by and never say anything or offer to find the host/hostess. Both locations are pretty hit-or-miss food wise. Sometimes it's really good, other not so much. I like their garden salad, but for the price (just under $5) it's really small. We usually split an Italian beef as an appetizer while waiting for the pizza. The last time we were there the gravy (au jus) on the side was so salty it was inedible. I told the waitress. She said 'oh, ok'. I said she might want to let the kitchen know. If we had poured it over the sandwich it would have been ruined. I guess she didn't care. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Every experience here is negative. The latest was trying to make a reservation for their private dining room for a Sunday family dinner. No reservations allowed anywhere in the restaurant for less than 20 people. We should just show up and hope they can accommodate us. So I round up 20 people and call back to reserve the private room. Doug the manager is the ONLY ONE who can reserve that room. He is supposed to be in at noon on Saturday, then 2:00, then 6:00, then 8:00. At 8 PM I am told he is not coming in at all. Enter assistant manager Genevieve, who tells me she can make the reservation, but none of the employees are supposed to know that. WHAT?????? After voicing my frustration, I ask to reserve the room. I am then told there is a $100 deposit required. After 5 phone calls over two separate days. Not one person ever called me back despite my messages. I had to hound them. It's 9:10 PM Saturday night, the day before our family dinner. We will take our business elsewhere. I'm amazed you're able to keep your restaurant doors open. read more
