Bill's Cafe is a very good place for breakfast. I have no idea how many times I have driven past Bill's Cafe and thought that I must try it some day. The first impression was the crowed parking lot. We were lucky to find an empty parking space. Inside the restaurant was equally crowded. We ordered chorizo scramble with breakfast potatoes and pancake combo with link sausage. Chorizo scramble was delicious with flavorful chorizo and not too much cheese. Breakfast potatoes were just ok, closer to backed potatoes in taste. Next time we will order hash browns. Pancakes were almost perfect, nice and fluffy with good flavor. Eggs were cooked the way I like them, over medium. Unfortunately, the sausages were room temp making them almost tasteless. Next time we will order bacon or ham. We will be returning to work our way through the menu. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect, but when I saw just how packed the little parking lot was, I felt relatively confident I was in the right spot. I ordered the portobello Benedict. Oh, my gosh -- what a treat. The portobello lends the flavor a distinct earthiness, but you can expect all of the rich goodness of a regular Benedict out of this meal sans the usual ham. Really delicious. The boyfriend got their strawberry waffle. It looked beautiful and tasted just as nice. If we lived closer, we'd be back all the time. This place is always busy! Just right off that bat, know you are going to wait if you are coming for breakfast. Danny and I were willing to sit outside on a chilly morning so we were seated right away. I was able to get coffee and the servers made their rounds to fill the cup at least three times. I got the waffle with eggs and bacon. Danny got the traditional breakfast with eggs bacon toast and hash browns. We love bills and would recommend this place to everyone. read more

Stopped by here last week with the hubby for lunch. Had eaten here years ago so was looking forward to a good meal. Had the burger and was disappointed. Color was just "grey" throughout. Could not see any char marks at all nor any fat that one would normally see in a burger. Tasted like it was full of filler. My mouth was on fire for a couple of hours afterwards from the powdered onion and or garlic that was used (I'm allergic to MSG and sulfur which this burger must have contained). Did not taste like beef at all. To be fair, the lemon chicken soup was good and would eat it again. However If I go back it will only be for breakfast. Lunch is off the menu for me. read more

I've been in a personal competition with Bill's Cafe - specifically to try and replicate their pancakes at home so my husband will stop ordering so often. My boyfriend heard of Bill's Cafe from his coworker, so we decided to try it out and bring our friend from SF along with us. We arrived at about 11 and were told the wait was 30-40 min. Luckily the weather was nice so we didn't mind sitting outside on their patio chairs lined up on the sidewalk. After waiting about 30 min, we were seated. The only star I'll deduct from Bill's is due to its lack of cleanliness and upkeep. About 5 min after sitting down I managed to stick my finger in a piece of gum that was hanging down under the table. The furniture was pretty old and damaged too, but depending on the mindset you have, you could say this all adds to Bill's "charm." I can't say enough good things about the food and service we had. I ended up ordering the perfect amount for myself, not leaving a bite on my plate. However the two others with me managed to over order and each took a box home. Probably some of the best hash browns I've ever had. I'd be curious to try their famous Bloody Mary some day, too. read more

All American Breakfast at your finest. Nothing bad to say about this place at all aside from maybe the prices are a tad high for your traditional breakfast. I considered the Bagel and Lox but that was a $22 plate! Went with some a little more sturdy and my "go to" breakfast plate...Eggs Benedict. The egg was perfectly poached and the house potatoes were perfectly seasoned. Lots of other plates at the table and everyone enjoyed their meal. Chorizo Omelette, Corn beef Hash, Hash brown Skillet, BLT Sandwich, and Grilled Cheese. Everything was delicious, but nothing stood out as amazing. The Mimosas were refreshing and probably my favorite part of the meal. The parking lot was very small with limited space for larger cars like our mini van. We ended up parking around the block. The wait was about 10 mins because we missed the brunch rush and got there around 12:30. The place is only open for breakfast and lunch and closes at 3:00. Yes the food is decent and certain things really good. However if you are not someone they are familiar with be prepared to be treated like crap. After waiting almost an hour to be seated (I get it, Sunday morning. While annoying not even a complaint) we waited another almost 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us, servers and bus boys walked right by us multiple times! Waiter was passable but far more concerned with other tables, specifically the ones he seemed to know. Oh well we won't be back anytime soon. Kind of hard to become a regular when you get crappy service every time you do. I'm updating my review off of service at the alameda location. We were asked to give a second shot and we did. It was probably uncomfortable if the food was HOT, it was embarrassing for him, and the waiter gave us a dirty look as if it was OUR fault that HE dropped the food. our waiter left in the kitchen and didn't come out the rest of the time we were there. we passed it off as an accident because accidents DO happen, however the way it was handled was not okay. i work in customer service and if i were to spill something all over one of my own customers, i would not handle it like that. it is NEVER the customers fault if the item that spilled is in YOUR hand. so we moved past it and reordered his meal and began to eat. the food was pretty good, except for the fact that one of the plates we were served had black avocado. it's not that big of a deal at the end of the day but nobody wants gross avocado. when we asked someone about it he was quick to say he had no idea how the kitchen is ran when he doesn't bring food out to the customers, so a waitress stepped in and brought us new, fresher avocado. i appreciate her efforts to serve us and correct the things the original waiter messed up, however overall our service was not good. i don't appreciate being stared at or given dirty looks. we were your guests and because of today, we will not be coming back to this location ever again. i understand customer service is frustrating and there are customers who are frustrating sometimes but always try to understand their frustrations as well. you just have to do your job and do it right. complain at home. roll your eyes where the customers can't see. don't just blatantly be rude. read more

Gave Bill's another try. My first visit was definitely a three star visit. The eggs Benedict was nothing to rave about. This time around I was in between a club sandwich and breakfast. I was having a bad morning and saw the bread pudding French toast. For reallll!!?? Sounded amazing and I was in the mood to indulge. Order it! It was soooooo good. The sauce that it was served with was so delicious I wanted to lick the plate! And the bananas on top are the perfect compliment. This dish also comes with two eggs any way and bacon or sausage. I chose over easy and extra crispy bacon. The eggs were perfection with the yolk oozing out and the bacon was thick cut goodness. Service was good, coffee was refilled at a good rate. Bill's breakfasts are big and they have a great selection. I was tempted to pick the SBC (spinach, bacon, cheese), but settled on the Petaluma scramble (chicken sausage, mushroom, spinach). Long dark hair with a nice meaty root in my eggs (strike two). Cold scramble where the cheese on top was not even melted (strike 3). And 30 minutes between coffee refills (strike four). Waiting staff generally unpleasant with frowns on their faces and no empathy at all to helping us with our meal (strike 5!?!)
