I walked in because of the $2.00 taco sign but ended up with a large meal with 8 tortillas. The lady in the front was very nice. Great customer service. The meat was VERY tough to chew. I think it needed to simmer for another 30-60 minutes. The red sauce is very spicy which I prefer when eating tacos. The consume was kinda bland. The corn tortilla were huge and thick. They have $2 birria tacos but they come with no consume. Consume [the broth] is an important part of birria. They do sell a small container of consume for $2 which would be enough for 2-3 people if they had 3 tacos each Service was great. Not many people here when I visited; which surprised me, overall a very good experience. It may be the pricing. Other than the $2 tacos, prices seem a bit high for a no service restaurant. The $2 taco pricing is good for the taste and meat quality, but this style of tacos is too oily for my liking, and the menu offering is a bit limited to mostly just birria. I ordered 4 Birria soft tacos, they're $2, large agua de jamaica and a large rice. The food was alright a bit pricey and I personally needed to add salt to my tacos. The interior looked like an enclosed patio, with a walk up counter, but looks aren't important as much as what the food tastes like. This was our third visit and it was even better than the first two! On our first visit, we tried the handmade flour tortilla quesabirria tacos. While they were huge, and had good flavor they were so juicy and fell apart easily. Our second visit was a different story, as we tried the original corn tortilla quesabirria tacos, which were great! For this visit, we went for the $2 soft tacos de birria, and they did not disappoint! At just $2 each, they were incredibly flavorful and satisfying. Ordered the trio taco plate for delivery, which was 10 minutes earlier than time given, kudos to both the restaurant for having it ready right away, and the driver for getting it here quickly. It was still hot. Everything so good, from the tortillas just the perfect crunch, the birria was tender and seasoned perfectly, the best I have had yet. The consome was beyond description excellent, fresh cilantro, onion limes and a hot sauce so delicious I emptied every last drop. The family and I went this past weekend. We had some pretty high expectations. We originally heard of them from their la habra location. We ate there and wow. Blew my socks off. Walking into the la puente location, I felt the workers either were new and in training or maybe they weren't too hospitable. We order 3 tacos, 3 dorados tacos, and a torta. I would have to agree with some of these posted reviews. Salsa, no flavor. The wife meet was super l spicy. Although my torta and my kids food was tolerable. New place in the city, went to try it with family. We tried a few things, birria plate, quesabirria, titanic torta and tacos dorados. Birria plate was juicy and with a great flavor, quesabirria and tacos dorados phenomenal, you can taste the freshness of the handmade tortillas that melts in your mouth, the torta was amazing that even the bread was soo tasty. The only downside and I'm sure it will get better, it's not about the food, it's about the line you stand to order, when it gets busy the line blocks everything and there is no way to go around. Maybe opening another door to the side for those that are done eating don't have to stand in line twice to try to get to their car. read more

Comparing this to the La Habra location (which is the only reason I even visit), the cashiers desperately need training and the overall ambiance of the space could be remedied by being cleaned up. It looks dirty inside, like an abandoned diner awaiting renovation - which I could overlook if the quality of the food was better. In spite of the smiles and friendly service, this is the second time that I was charged extra for queso that never got added to my tacos and was served meat that i'm pretty sure was stored or sitting. This was my one of my best experiences at Birrieria's. The staff was great and very polite and helpful. The location was very convenient and easy to find. The dinning area was clean and well maintained. But it was the quality of the food that really brought it home for me. Tasted very authentic and comparable to some of the best tacos I have ever had south of the border. The flavors really popped and every ingredient was fresh.
