We've generally enjoyed eating dinner here a few times a year including with visitors from out of town. Dinner last night was a mostly the typical experience (with one exception below) and we ordered our usual Steak Frites and Chicken/Parmesan Dumplings. So why 3 stars? Last night the Chicken Dumplings entree that arrived had a full shrimp in it - how does that even happen? I don't do well with shellfish and showed the waitress as an FYI for the kitchen. Many things on the menu feel ~$3 overpriced for what you get. Not a big deal, but our general opinion. The drink special seems to always be the St. Germain - every time we've ever been (in fact we joke about it on the way there). Last night was no exception! Beers are pricey as others have noted, $7-9/glass for a standard selection (craft selection doesn't get very "crafty"). $6 for Abita Boot as the "special" last night. All in all an okay place once in a while, but not somewhere on our regular pick list given other options in the area. read more

Absolutely the best restaurant in Baton Rouge!! I've never eaten anything from there that I would not highly recommend to others. Every single flavor of bread pudding that they have is incredible! And the creole pot roast is phenomenal! I always swap out the green bean side and get bleu Mac and cheese because it is amazing! Don't walk, RUN to this restaurant! Love this place! My friend and I like to go after work sometimes, and we always order the exact same thing: pot roast, sub the green beans for carrot soufflé, and a vodka freeze! If you know you're going ahead of time, make a reservation or you'll be stuck at a table that can barely even fit your plate on it in the bar area. Extremely small and uncomfortable. read more

Crawfish étouffée was good. Burger tasted funny and had some hard chunks in the meat - yuck! Did not finish it. The waiter was useless. Seriously. He took our order, filled our sodas to the brim with ice so that they looked like slushees. Never saw him again. Someone else brought our food and he never came back until he wanted to drop off our check. I didn't get ketchup for my fries and by the time he showed up, they were cold and soggy. We asked for refills (because we were never offered) and he told us he'd bring to go cups so it certainly felt like we were being rushed out. Won't return or recommend. read more

I have been coming here since they opened. My fiance and I have tried almost the whole menu now and everything is always delicious and prefect. Staff is very professional and curtious. Environment is warm and inviting. Building is new so it smells nice inside. This is one of my go to places when I have friends or family in town. read more

I went yesterday around lunchtime with my in-laws and husband. We'd been once before for brunch so we knew what to expect. Cute, bistro tables, close together, great lighting, not too loud, casual but trendy. We got mimosas (day drinking yay!) and just entrees. Our server was on point and friendly, food was great, not super expensive.... Love that this new location is so close to our house, I foresee many more trips, especially in the spring when the weather starts warming up enough to brunch and patio sit! read more

Bistro Byronz is definitely a local favorite, so when they news broke that a second location was opening, the community of course responded with eagerness and excitement. Restaurant #2 in Baton Rouge is in a very centralized locale in town - Willow Grove off Perkins (close to Perkins Rowe). There is plenty of outdoor seating here and seems a bit bigger on the inside than their Government location. The ambiance here is extraordinary; it's just very unique. I wish I could say the same about the food. One would expect to be blown away at this restaurant, but I just wasn't. I normally don't like to order anything heavy for my meal and many of the entrees just seemed like food coma material. Too much bread is also something I don't like to have too much of. The entrees here are very heavily carb-based: pastas, sandwiches, potatoes, etc. Do I expect too much, when I expect creativity? Especially, when the restaurant is just so beautiful, but the food just doesn't compare. Our waitress was very polite and attended to our table as often as she could, but unfortunately seemed clueless. Honestly, I think she was new. Why put a new waiter/waitress during a busy dinner shift? I ordered a steak frites salad and was ill-impressed. Although the steak pieces were very tender, the salad was nothing but greens and steak pieces and the balsamic dressing was too sweet with a honey-like texture. If you are in a rush, do not come here because food service is slow. I was disappointed with my salad: frites were not crispy and quickly became cold. I even tasted a bit of my friend's pot roast and was the least bit thrilled about that dish, too. Perhaps this review will change, when I go back and try something different and have a more knowledgeable waitress. read more

The brunch was pretty delicious. The berry compote that comes with the French toast is amazing. The only thing I will mention is that the waiter said the chef can't poach eggs hard, which is false. I've had it at too many other restaurants around the country to know better. Getting there early right after church is a way to beat the crowd. Cute atmosphere. Two stars because service, or rather server, tonight was awful. He was friendly but did nothing to make the dining experience positive. We arrived and sat in the bar area which is first come first serve--since it was close to 7, it was pretty busy however there were tables available. We were presented with 2 menus, one of which contained a drink menu and the other did not---this is not a real problem. Server took our drink order and when order was brought to us, we ordered the 3 cheese and chips appetizer whereupon our server must have assumed that was our food order as he took out menus with him. The appetizer was brought out within minutes but our table had no silverware, no napkins and the only plate was the one with the chips---not sure If our chips comes with plates. Our server then returned and we asked for menus so we could order something to eat. He brought us 1 menu---we had 2 people there. At this establishment Our server is different than the person who brings food to us. So , we place our order, which was an order of gumbo and an order of pot roast , which comes with a salad. Shortly thereafter the person who brings the salad brings it to our table and places it in the middle of the table and we still do not have silverware. Hmmmm. Well I proceed to eat the spinach leaves with my fingers since there is no silverware. Our server shows up and asks how we were doing. My dining mate looks at him and asks if outer table and my salad is missing anything and the server looks at me eating with my fingers---ponders a second or two and says okay and proceeds to walk away---never noticed the lack of silverware. We asked someone else for silverware and it is finally brought to us. Wow! Next our main course shows up and when our server returns, my dining mate asks for some bread for his gumbo and our server says "..sure, coming right up." And walks Away. Fifteen minutes later after my dining mate hS finished his gumbo there is still no bread. Simply amazing. Two stars for the horrible service. My dining mate thought his gumbo was good and tasty. The pot roast was consistent with the pot roast I have ordered here and the Government St location in the past---portion is small, not too spicy but flavorful enough. So, food good but not good enough to overcome the (lack of) service. Since someone else brought out the food, there was no backup in the kitchen. read more

I can't stop eating lunch here! I must say I have had most items on the menu and love each of them. The turkey burger and the blackened shrimp salad are my two "go to" items but I seriously don't think you can go wrong. They have brunch which is pretty good as well. The bar at this location is much easier to hang out at with friends. They make a fabulous French 75 if you're interested. Be sure to get there early though as they tend to fill up pretty quickly for lunch or brunch. read more

Our tennis team loves to finish off a very fun morning with a spicy Bloody Mary at Bistro Byron. We also love the home made chips that come smothered in a blue cheese sauce. Omg they are sooo good. We all ordered a main entree but After the chips, we are full but are willing to take home to go boxes for supper later. read more

We used to love this place but wow what a disappointment. Just ordered the thin cut fried catfish and frites along with chopped beef patty, green beans and mashed potatoes. The thin cut fish was thick nuggets that were slimy with no taste. The frites were under cooked and soggy. The chopped beef plate also had no flavor and not even worth eating. We threw away both meals after a couple of bites. Not sure what's going on here. Even the key lime pie we ordered for dessert looked old and wasn't good at all. :( read more

A decent Brunch on a Sunday around 11:30am. The inside was packed so we opted for the table for 2 outside, because we could be seated right away. Our server was nice, perhaps a little spread thin, but nice nonetheless. Ordered the Shrimp and Grits, they were good, not the best Shrimp and Grits I've ever had, but enjoyable. The Grits and Grillades were also ordered, more like Pot Roast and Grits. Tasty Pot Roast, but there wasn't any gravy to speak of. Definitely needed more gravy. Overall an enjoyable meal, but in my opinion not going to blow your mind. read more

This place never disappoints me! Everything I've had here is absolutely delicious. My friends and I go on Sunday's for brunch and their Pecan Praline Coffee is DEVINE! Hair of the dog has never tasted so good! They also have frozen mimosas (God knows it's hot as hell in Louisiana) that will set you straight from whatever shenanigans you found yourself waking up from. All in all I can't say a single negative thing about BB. Do yourself a favor and just go. read more

We tried out the new location of Bistro Byronz off of Perkins Road near Bluebonnet. It has a great atmosphere. The staff was fantastic and the food was really good. We started off with the Three Cheese Chips. Homemade potato chips with a melted cheese blend. They were delicious. For my main course I had the Chicken Avocado BLT. It was great. They have a good selection of wine and beers on tap. I recommend this place. I think it is a great addition to this part of town. read more

To begin, the service was half way decent and that is why I give it a4 start instead of a five. To start off, we were a party of 8. We ordered humid plate, artichoke dip and wine. It was delicious. Or meals were cold roasted chicken--no good, chicken paillan, delish, put roast yum, au gratin potatoes yum. For dessert we had bread pudding, key like pie-- tooo sour, and heavenly chocolate with ice cream, superb. The server was rushing out the door as soon as we got there because she said they had another party at 2pm. R arrived at 11:30 and already rushing us out so they could get ready for the other party. I know there are many Christmas parties but to rush us out sooooooo early, not professional. We accidentally spilled out drink and she gave us napkins to clean it up ourselves and we had get up and go ask for another table cloth. The server kept asking if there were more people coming because they wanted to take our table and chairs to use for another party. Very unprofessional. Wow, this place was so good! But sadly we returned again and it's horrible. The service BAD so slow and the waitress is horrible. She has not been back to refill drinks or ask us if we needed anything. I had to personally go up to the hostess 45 mins after we ordered to see what was up. It's currently an hour and a half later and we are still waiting for food. I'm highly disappointed, this wait staff needs to learn how to wait tables. read more

I really enjoy their southern classic recipes. They have great home cooking/specials and sandwiches. The dining environment is very nice and somewhat fancy but their prices are much more inline with a plate lunch special restaurant. So, go there for really good comfort food in a fancy atmosphere with really good prices. How can you complain about that combination? Oh, they also have great cocktails! read more

For some reason, I like the Mid City location better (food wise). It could be because of my food selection, however. I ordered the shrimp and grits. I wasn't a fan of the broth base they use. It wasn't terrible, just not what I was expecting. Like the other location, service was good. read more

Ordered a chopped salad- which I order all the time. Today I noticed that the portion decreased DRASTICALLY. I inquired if this was side salad as it was very small. the bartender- which gets a zero rating for customer service mentioned that they just decreased their portion sizes as they were giving people too much food.
