Great place. Been there just twice though. Burgers and Euro food, both delicious. Good domestic micro brews and Euro beer options. And you can get 1L in a boot glass, which is great, but you're better off getting 0.5L x2 for a slightly less cost. Fast attentive service without being obnoxious or fake. This would be my go-to if I lived in the neighborhood.

Wow. Buckle up kids it a garlicky ride. Wandered in, starving, garlic fries and onion rings for apps. Both excellent with the fries being a bit toooooo oily. Pork schnitzel was more breading than pork and the potatoes were also drenched in garlic oil. California burger comes with fries - great portions for the price, excellent burger. It's a sports bar. If we lived in the neighborhood we would likely go back but definitely wouldn't make a special trip. Cheers

Nopa San Francisco Remember Cheers? You wanna go where everyone knows your name? Bistro Gambrinus is that kind of neighborhood place-small, cozy and Nael the owner is right there behind the bar...and waiting tables. Originally from Lebanon, his food reflects his heritage with American bar food thrown in. Food is made to order so expect to wait. Enjoyed the chicken piccata, best hummus, huge delicious burger, crispy brussel sprouts, chicken kebobs, super tasty fish n chips. Yum! Washed down with a lot of beer on tap! Drop in, watch a game and relax.

Want to get some work done or start that book but can't be at home anymore? Bistro Gambrinus. Neal has created a space that is open and inviting and perfect anytime. Great selection of beer, wine, and food. Chill vibe, family-like service! Reasonable prices and hefty portions. I can't recommend this place enough.

Ask the Community - Bistro Gambrinus

    Is this 21 and older?

No, Bistro Gambrinus not 21 and older if you're going for dinner. Anyone sitting at the bar must be 21+, but tables are available for everyone for dinner.

Do they have a full bar?

Bistro Gambrinus is a beer bar, we have beer and wine only.

They used to serve crawfish, no more?

Sadly no but everything I've eaten here has been incredible.

I stopped by around 4:30 p.m. and there were a few tables where I saw folks finishing up their work day on their laptops with a beer. It's neither overly crowded, nor overly loud, which is perfect for getting work done. Since it was the World Cup and many guests would be camping out for the entire match, table service has a per person minimum spend of $25. This is a really a non-issue because a cocktail is around $15, so two drinks, or one drink with some food, will easily hit this minimum. My wife and I shared crispy pork schnitzel ($17) and an order of their deviled eggs ($12). The deviled eggs were nicely seasoned and included a small salad shrimp on top for some variety. The pork schnitzel was perfectly fried and the potatoes in the included side-salad was well-cooked and not over dressed. I would recommend enjoying the schnitzel with some mustard. Both drinks that I ordered -- an Old Fashioned and a Boulvardier, were well prepared. No notes here. Service here was top notch. Throughout our stay, our server checked up on us multiple times and we never had to wait long to place another order for drinks. Tipping options on the receipt include pre-calculated 18%, 20%, and 22% options (on top of the 5% SF Mandate). Last but not least, the restaurant had clean bathrooms and a bunch of large TV screens on every wall. If you're looking to watch a sports match, Sam's Tavern is the place to go!

Later, he refused to serve me anything else and even told staff not to serve me, claiming a "manager" instructed it (which wasn't true -- the actual manager was nice to me later on, and got me drinks). I tried to handle everything respectfully, but I left feeling anxious and mistreated. I've never been yelled at like that in a restaurant before. I'm leaving this review, but for a moment I seriously considered taking this further due to the embarrassment and harassment I experienced. I tried to handle everything respectfully, yet I left feeling anxious and deeply mistreated. I sincerely hope management is properly instructing staff to treat customers with far more professionalism and respect in the future.

Cocktail offerings are also below average, and it's strange that they offer one Pinot Noir for their red options. (This is California!) And there is one bartender/manager who isn't familiar with many standard cocktails... So you have to work around these limitations...at a large bar. Evidence of this two-star review is the low turnout of customers on even a weekend night. Just 2-3 people in this large space. Playoff game nights are better, but hardly the standing room only situation we saw at the old SFAC. It's a pity because they would have tons of business given the lack of big sports bars in this part of town. We don't know how they keep the lights on now. I hope they improve their game -- because they need a serious timeout. (In comparison, check out The Fishbowl up the street...they are packed every Friday, big game or not. Small but mighty. And they often have just the one very capable bartender doing all of the work, and keeping regulars and other guests happy!)

What originally started as a disappointment became a huge blessing once we found the board room. Feet aching, sweaty, and tired we made our way to this bar. Immediately you could tell it's a local favorite, the ambiance was nice and a great spot to people-watch. There was a cup flipping event which was super fun to spectate, along side the rotating pictures of the bar's beloved pooches . We ordered 2 western burgers, 12 count bone-in wings (half bbq, half Hawaiian), and an appetizer of corn dogs, tater tots, bacon Mac & cheese bites, and mozzarella sticks. Later we also added boneless buffalo wings which were so tangy, well-seasoned, and HOT. The western bacon burgers were so delicious, crispy bacon, crispy onion rings, and some bomb.com bbq sauce. The wings were drowned in sauce (just how we like them) , the bbq was to die for and the Hawaiian had the perfect little kick of spice for our picky eaters. The appetizer platter was also fried to perfection, with the perfect crunch on the tater tots & corn dogs. The Mac & cheese bites & mozzarella sticks were perfectly cheesed, with an amazing cheese pull on the mozzarella sticks. Along with the food, my boyfriend and I ordered some drinks. I got a margarita and he got a Guinness. Both drinks were good, very standard and well served. The couple behind the bar were very funny and super kind to us being dazed after all the walking.
