My husband and I visited BJ's in Avon on 4/27 for dinner. It was our date night away from our kids. The food was great except the portions were a little small for their price. Our server Cristine was excellent. My husband told Cristine we were having a date night and let me tell you, she went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. She suggested some of her favorites for dinner entrees and sold us on chicken wings with their Root beer glaze for an appetizer and Parmesan Crusted Chicken Italiano. Great advice!! We came here to see the eclipse and spend a few vacation days. I've been a BJ's fan for a long time, but have moved to an area BJ's does not serve so I was happy to see one near us. The food was the quality I've come to expect from BJ's. Good stuff, excellent taste. And who doesn't love a Piezookie! The service was very good - no complaints at all. But in the end, the price was definitely beyond what I remember from my experiences. While the food was good, it did not measure up to the quality of similarly priced restaurants. For the price, I expected more and better. In the end, I talked it over with my wife and we decided that BJ's was no longer on our list of places to look out for when we're out on the road. Loved the Margarita flight and the spicy pineapple margarita is amazing! I'd never had a margarita flight before so that was cool. Had the southern comfort chicken sandwich and it was *chef's kiss* My fiancés spicy jalapeño burger was also great. Only complaint was the 4 top booth is quite small when you have 4 people ordering apps, drinks, and food and our waitress had to be asked to remove plates/glasses. I've always liked the Greenwood location so some friends and I decided to try the Avon location. We went for lunch and got a table right away. We got the potstickers and brussels sprouts for an appetizer. Both were really good, but I loved the brussels sprouts. A little spice with the crisp of the brussels sprouts. My friends enjoyed their meals (chicken club and Santa Fe chicken salad). I got the nachos for my meal and couldn't finish it. We also tried a couple different margaritas. My absolute favorite was the pineapple and I would definitely go back for that again. Our server was great. Ordered BJ's tonight through DoorDash. We haven't been in a while but wanted to change it up from our usual sandwiches and wraps for something a little healthier. We ordered off their "Enlightened" menu which is their healthier, lighter option menu. After traveling they looked messy and somewhat unappealing but I've always like by the philosophy that don't judge a meal by it's look (especially DoorDash takeout). I truly do not know where to begin. Truly. It was Christmas Eve, and my family and I wanted a nice restaurant that was fun for the family. Our uncle told us that BJ's Brewhouse fit the bill, and that is eventually what we decided on eating for out yearly family dinner. We get there and things begin on a high note. It's relatively empty and we were attended to quickly. The first red flag occurred when the waitress forgot our straws and took a few minutes to get them to us. I thought nothing of it, but why not bring the straws when serving the drinks? Then, the wait began. We waited and waited and waited. Over an hour. To get food that some would consider nearly inedible. I mean my gosh. What kind of crap show do they have going on there? Apparently some chefs quit for the day, but why did they quit? If you can't serve us, just say that you can't instead of wasting our time and 90 dollars for subpar food. At least they took some off of the bill!!! Potatoes looked awful and fries were mediocre. I could get 100x better Nashville Hot wings at BDubs. I asked for extra sauce, and when the sauce was brought out, it look like someone had splooged in it! What in the world?!?!?! Doordash and Ubereats orders were being prioritized over ours as well. We made the 20 minute trek IN THE SNOW to visit YOUR restaurant yet YOU still want to cater to the lazy bums 5 minutes away??? Disgraceful. The waitress we had seemed like she didn't give a darn. I would not be surprised if she is out of there in a month. She did NOTHING to make our experience more pleasant, however she was not part of the food quality problem. We left a 10 dollar tip. We did not leave that tip because of good service. We left that tip because we paid in cash and wanted to get the hell out of your crap shoot of a restaurant! I will give credit where credit is due, however. Mac and cheese balls were good plus the craft soda was good as well. It's one star out of 5. It's one star out of 10. It's one star out of 100. It's one star out of 1,000,000. Whenever I have a day off, I like to stop by here for lunch. Yes I like the ample parking, quick seating, friendly and efficient service, managers coming to each table to check if you need anything, the vast selection of dishes and drinks and the reasonable prices along with the sizable portions of food. But let me address my lunch favorite... pick 2... for less than 10 bucks you can get an infinite combination of food items. My go to is the California Flatbread with the tomato mozzarella salad. OMG... that salad alone is what makes me come back. It is visually stunning. Looks small, all the salad hovers in one corner while zigzag lines of the most delicious balsamic decorate the remainder of the plate. As you fork your salad you need to drag it through the balsamic to get the full flavor. If you like nice ripe tomatoes, marble-sized fresh mozzarella balls and a nice light dressing... well then you just simply have to try this. The California chicken flatbread is also light, crisp and delicious. Chicken, avocado on the thinnest flatbread you can imagine... wonderful. Of course I tend to mess up my healthy lunch by topping it off with one of their mini pizzookies. Salted caramel is my downfall. Yummy cookie topped with ice cream and caramel drizzle... I mean, really, who could resist? Also I would like to encourage folks to donate a few dollars to their beer for heroes program. You can buy a teacher a beer (as they are vastly underpaid in my opinion). And let's face it folks, after dealing with today's youth all day long, they are ready and deserving of a brew. read more

I haven't updated my review in some time so I'll do so now. We dined tonight, a Thursday, around 7pm at this family friendly, chain restaurant. As we drove up the parking lot still had parking spots which we took as a good sign we might be seated quickly. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, seating is still at 50% capacity so we had a 25 minute wait. You cannot wait indoors or at the bar due to social distancing. You have the option of waiting in your vehicle or outdoors (raining tonight). They will text you when your table is ready. Seating consists of booths, 4-top tables and 4-top high top tables. The Brewhouse serves a variety of their own award winning beers plus 11 signature beers and ciders. They also offer seasonal beers along with local brews. The full service bar is well stocked and offers wonderful cocktails and wines along with the large selection of beers previously mentioned. The menu is full of American Pub food from appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, pizza, pastas, steaks, ribs and chicken entrees. We both had the tri-tip sirloin served with 2 sides. My 2 choices was the crisp wedge salad and thick mashed potatoes whereas my husband had the undercooked baked potato and a bowl of tasty chili. My steak was cooked as ordered but my husband's was definitely not. He rarely complains or returns an item even though I was encouraging him to do so. The sirloin special came with a delicious Pizookie dessert which comes in a wide variety of flavors. My husband selected the Triple Chocolate Pizookie and I had the Salted Carmel. Between the two, the Triple Chocolate was the highlight of the evening. The rich, warm chocolate cookie was thick enough to be very soft and flavorful. The chocolate ice cream was excellent and was a perfect finish for the cookie. My Salted Caramel had a thinner, crispy cookie with vanilla ice cream drizzled with caramel. It just wasn't as rich and gooey as the chocolate...still good though. Overall both meals rated 3 stars and we ate both but just not as we ordered. Our server did a terrific job all evening. She was prompt, friendly, knowledgeable, explained the specials well plus happily answered our questions. She made us feel very welcome and deserves 5 stars. For this reason I've added a star to the review making it 4 stars. We'll return in the near future but it hasn't made our rotation list. read more

Not a bad place to go if you're not sure what you want to eat. Their menu is huge and has a wide variety of cuisine choices. Currently, they have a seasonal Watermelon Mojito that is refreshing. The Moscow Mule is made well too. For the appetizer, I suggest getting the California Club Flatbread; the crust is super crispy & the sauce adds some flavor. For the main entree, I got the Bacon-Guacamole Deluxe Burger with a turkey patty. I enjoyed their turkey patty and the jalapeños have a nice kick of flavor for the burger as a whole. My boyfriend got the Bistro Burger with the regular beef patty. The beef patty was a bit dry for me, but still decent. Definitely get the fries as a side! let's start with my situation: my wife and I have 5 kids so we NEVER get date nights. We decided to go out for Devour Indy and unfortunately everywhere we went had an hr and a half wait. So we decided to go to BJ's because we love their food and service. BJ's was packed too and we decided we will save ourselves food delivery fees and just place our order to go. The wait said 35 minutes which is fair so we waited until we received a text message 35 minutes after placing the order saying our food was being packaged and I went in. I was greeted within seconds of entering and they took my name. The young girl said oh great your up next. Three people received their food and not a single word was said to me about where my food was or why it was delayed. The disrespect of being ignored was building. After 15 minutes of standing there I got annoyed and asked a guy what was going on. He said we are waiting on your ribs. So I'm like ok my food is being made fresh, it's busy, I get it. I told him it had been 15 minutes and I'm not happy. 10 minutes go by and neither him or the girl say anything to me and actually didn't come back to the station. Another customer had been starting to get annoyed because not only were they avoiding me but they weren't helping anyone. Finally a manager walks out. I walked over to the manager and let her know how long Ive been waiting and she seems compassionate and checks to see what's going on. She comes back out and says we are waiting on your grilled vegetables. At this point I was very upset. I'm standing here waiting on the one item in the meal that is the quickest to make which they had 25 minutes in addition to the 35 minutes so 50 minutes total to make the grilled vegetables. I told her I wanted the food comp'd and she asked if I wanted something in place of the vegetables. I told her I don't care because of how upset I am at this point. She asked the same question two more times and I gave the same response. I didn't want to have to wait another 30 minutes for them to make the replacement so I told her at this point I just want my money back I don't even care if I get the food. Then she gets an attitude with me and says she will comp it but do I want anything to replace the vegetables for the fourth time. I couldn't believe the unprofessionalism I was witnessing from a manager at a place I've attended more times than I can count. She just walked away after I told her for the 4th time that I didnt care. The young guy hands me my food almost immediately and I'm like ok well maybe the food will change my perception of everything that just went down. We get home and EVERYTHING except for the ribs and undercooked vegetables were cold. The steak I got was almost like chewing on a tire except the tire probably would have been more edible. The ribs were alright. Needless to say I will not be going back to this location and highly recommend anyone else to stay away unless you're just going for drinks. I really don't like any other restaurants around here so this is pretty huge blow. Guess you gotta drive away from the westside to get decent service. read more

Im rarely in the Avon area but I needed to go to the phone repair shop down the street. I've heard of this place but didn't really know anything besides it was good. The atmosphere gave cool bar vibes. I'm not really into beer but the margaritas were $6. We ordered a rib eye and a tritip bundle. Our server was pleasant and come with our food pretty quickly. The ribeye has a great flavor and was cooked medium well as requested. But it was super fatty. It was huge. I was starving. Needless to say I required no to go box. The sides were of a good proportion too. I got a baked potato and a cesar salad. My girlfriend ordered the tritip and chicken bundle with string beans and mashed potatoes. The tritip and chicken were cooked with the same seasoning as my ribeye so it was pretty tasty as well. She thought the string beans were pretty bland however the mash had a nice flavor. She didnt feel the need to add anything extra. My drink was the classic margarita and it was indeed a classic marg. They didn't have any other flavors and there was nothing special or bad about it. I considered a burger but nothing seemed to stand out. I was told that the pizza is really what they're known for so if I come back I'm sure that's what I'll try. read more

I have been weary of eating out since finding out last year I have food allergies and sensitivities. I never would think twice about ordering or eating everything, but now every meal is such an effort and takes a lot of thought. We have dined out and picked up a few times and it always leads to me not feeling great for days, but we did BJ's this past weekend and it was amazing! We've not gone a ton of places due to Covid, but my aunt has had both doses and she loves BJ's. The wait was long, we should have done call ahead seating. But it was worth the wait. They are still social distancing and had screens between the tables. I went with the Salmon bowl, but ended up having to reverse course. The waitress was awesome. If she didn't know she went and asked the chef. In the end everything in the bowl's components wasn't going to work for me. I went with the salmon dinner with quinoa. They even cleaned the cooking service. Any hint of pepper or garlic makes me sick. I loved how they said they would do that without me asking. The last place we went left off pepper, but I could see and taste it just from where it was cooked. It is so tough being such a picky person when ordering. I am hoping to expand places I feel safe, but at the moment BJ's is at the top. I was so happy they cared so much. Having enjoyed my visit to the Greenwood location, I decided to try the one in Avon. The place is huge and has a fair amount of parking, but they do run out of spaces at peak times. Fortunately, there are nearby lots across the roads in the shopping center. Dining by myself, I asked to sit at the bar so that I could sample a flight of their house drafts (four 5 oz choices) with my meal. At the time of my visit, they had eleven ales and a cider made in house as well as numerous "guest" beverages, including wine and mixed drinks. I went with the Oasis (amber 4.7%, 19 IBU) that was quite tasty (nice wheat flavor). I also had the PM (porter 5.5% 25) which is supposed to taste of chocolate, but tasted more like coffee. I had the Tatonka (stout 8.5% 50) which is supposed to have a dark malt flavor. Both the PM and Tatonka were prepared with Nitro (not CO2) so they were very smooth, but I still prefer the CO2 style of beverages at this point. I finished with the Hopstorm (IPA 6.5% 65) which was a nicely balanced ale. What surprised me was how much I enjoyed the meal. I've had a lot of ham and cheese sandwiches, including those grilled like they are here. What makes this sandwich so tasty is that they grill parmesan on the outside of the sourdough bread and use Havarti on the inside with the smoked ham. Note that the ham is moist, not dried out from the smoking. There is also a creamy alfredo. I was supposed to get a dijon mustard on the side, but didn't realize it until I had already finished the sandwich. This isn't a sandwich for those on diets. It is listed at 1030 calories which probably doesn't include the delicious fries that come with the meal. The flavor was simply delicious. One of the tastiest sandwiches I've had in a long time. Note: Although I was seated promptly at the bar, the bartender had to supply all the drinks for the restaurant and so there was a delay in getting a menu and my order placed. This is our favorite restaurant! Great food, great staff and the beer is..... damn good! I generally get the jalapeños burger, but occasionally get a steak or pasta. Each dish I've had is awesome. The staff is probably the best part. Our 2 & 5 year old boys can be a handful in public (to say the least)! The great staff always makes it fun for them by keeping them entertained. If your an IPA person, get the Hopstorm! My favorite IPA. They even sell take home growlers for about $15. They have a double IPA (Commited) if your ready for some real hops! Sunday March 10th I went to BJ Brewery for lunch. My server name was Owen he was very professional, and honest. I ended up getting their delicious clam chowder which was cooked at the right consistency. It was so yummy, creamy, and very delicious to last bite. For, my entree meal I had the shrimp scampi pasta without diced tomatoes, and parsley. The shrimp scampi pasta was delicious, the shrimps were big, and the pasta tasted like a creamy buttery taste so delicious. My friend had their cauliflower tacos, and at first he was skeptical eating the cauliflower tacos. Once, he bit into the cauliflower tacos he fell in love with his healthy meal. Oh! Also, I had the new Rosehaven Rosè wine it was a very crisp drink that wasn't too sweet. Great atmosphere, good food, and good drinks. read more

If you want to go to lunch in Avon, go somewhere else. Should have realized it when we walked in at Noon on a Sunday and the restaurant was less than half full. Our server, while outwardly polite, wasn't very good. Prime rib was ordered medium, came out well done, then the replacement looked like it was microwaved. Our sugar cookie pazooki was way undercooked (still batter). She took it back, scraped the ice cream mostly off, maybe stuck it under a broiler, then more ice cream back on. It was still raw. Got the manager, she got us a new one, and it wasn't totally right but at that point I was just ready to leave. No comp, no adjustments, no nothing. Server ignored us once she got the check from us, never spoke to us again, which was part of why we got the manager to begin with. I'm just mad at myself for paying cash so she could grab and walk early. Once again, if you want lunch in Avon, don't go here. If you really want BJs, drive to Greenwood. read more

They need more staff. It seems like they are perpetually understaffed. They always seem to try to do the best they can but they just don't have enough people to give great service.But overall, this is one of our favorite places. If it wasn't so expensive we would go all the time. The Pazooki is unbelievable but I wish they would bring back the s'mores Pazooki. The menu is very very extensive and a little overwhelming but one of my faves is the lemon thyme chicken. I love the ambience of the whole place. It's fancy without being pretentious. Love coming here to eat. They were busy. It must have been and off night for the cooks they mush have been in a hurry. Hubby got the Sirloin wanted it medium well it came medium rare sent it back came back well well done - like burnt. I got my favorite Parmesan crusted chicken. Mashed potatoes and Asparagus two chicken breast pounded out flat with a crispy Parmesan crust. It has a creamy sauce over it sun-dried tomatoes and basil. It is so good.Ate the first breast but the Second one was not done. When our waitress brought us our bill she asked if I wanted a box I told her no it was not cooked it was still pink inside. She didn't care. I didn't want a free meal but a I'm sorry or I'll get the manager,I just wanted some one to know so it wouldn't happen to the next customer. Covid or not I wouldn't even bother. There were more then enough servers for good service. We were seated with a drink menu and a receipt looking thing with a QR code with no explanation. After sitting for a few we noticed you're supposed to scan for the menu. Another 10 mins later we finally met our server. She took our drink order and walked off (at that point we were ready to fully order). Then she came back telling us they didn't have ingredients for our drinks but the other drink tastes the same (one is vodka the other was tequila)! After the service was crap we started noticing the dust piles on the computers and ticket generator right above where the food is served in the kitchen. The glass looks like it's never been cleaned and finally the ceiling in the kitchen is missing a vent cover and you could clearly see it blowing debris. GROSS!!! read more

Went there for lunch on a weekday about 2pm. Ordered clam chowder which I would not recommend, it was just not creamy and seemed flavorless. My salad was brought out 20 minutes after my soup and the waitress asked me why I didn't say anything to her. I mean she was nice overall, but don't make it sound like it's my job to question where my salad is at. I just thought they forgot to make it and I wasn't impressed enough with the food to mention to her that I was missing my salad, in hopes they just wouldn't bring it to me. They weren't able to serve the calamari app because it was thawing, so I ordered the pretzel. It was hard as a brick on the outside but soft on the inside, it was just ok. They brought my soup 2 minutes after bringing me the pretzel. The wings we had were hot and tasty, the only thing that was actually good. Price wise I just won't be back for a while.
