I've been here twice now with large groups, and both times I enjoyed dinner here. From the outside, the place looks tiny. It's not until you enter that you realize how big this restaurant is. There's a huge, round bar in the middle of the restaurant, and a lot of seats that surround the bar. The place is actually pretty spacious, and I've never had to wait for a table. On to the food...I like their appetizers. I tried the Chicken Curry Puffs, the Chicken Satay and the dumplings and they were all very good. For the entrée, I really like their Kaeng Dang (Red Curry) Chicken. It tasted very good and, like a lot of restaurants that serve this dish, they didn't go cheap with the chicken. Service was top notch. The manager of the place came by to make sure we were doing good. Our waiter was excellent. I've been to BKNY about 5 or 6x. The last time I went, I noticed a larger dinner menu. They also feature Lady M Cakes, from Lady M Bakery. I think that's really cool for a Queens restaurant to have. I know a handful of Manhattan restaurants also serve Lady M, but I'm almost positive BKNY is the place in queens that does. Most recently, I got Tofu Pad Pak, and shared Tofu Pineapple Rice. I was not amazed, but I did enjoy it. I do like their noodle dishes. BKNY features a nice cocktail menu. On of my favorite parts of the meal, was the dessert. I visited BKNY for a 1st date. Upon entering I found it very chic, romantic, posh and typical Thai fashion. I researched BKNY during Queens Restaurant Week. It came highly rated. This is ideal for dates and celebrations. Spacious and very elegant. We started off with some Thai Ice Teas. My date ordered the Tamarind Duck and I believe, I ordered a red curry duck. His Tamarind was delicious!!!! Sweet, flavorful. For dessert, we had fried banana and ice cream. The service was spot on great and we really enjoyed our full dining experience. I appreciate that this venue is spacious and not located on a busy street. read more

I LOVE thai food, and I LOVE BKNY. I always come here for the lunch specials, because they're only $8 for a salad and entree--such a great bargain! The inside is very spacious with great ambiance, and the waiters are very nice. For appetizer, the roti massaman is perfect. The roti itself was flat (pancake style) and not puffed, but it had a nice texture to it. Also, I recommend the satay and calamari. Drink-thai iced tea and thai iced coffee are both great..perfect compliments to the spices. The entrees are all delicious. I've had the pad thai, pad see ew, penang curry, and thai fried rice, and can honestly say I recommend them all (and I swear I'm usually a pretty picky eater). For dessert we had mango sticky rice, which was great--fresh mango over sticky rice with coconut milk poured on top..mmm. And of course there's fried ice cream, which you can never go wrong with. So seeing as though I haven't dined in at BKNY Thai in a few months, me and the hubs decided to stop in. I mean I didn't expect things to be the same but I didn't think it would be this different. We went on a Thursday night and it was pretty crowded but we were seated immediately. No lie we didn't give our drink orders until about 20 minutes after we sat down. No waiter came over, we were not even acknowledged. That was upsetting. We then placed our drink orders and didn't received them until about 15 minutes later...yeah I said 15 minutes! It was only for two drinks.... The waiter who brought our drinks to the table ended up taking our food orders bc our waiter was running around like a chicken with no head. We placed our order and didn't receive our food until 25 minutes later... Everything was just annoying, I was heated. What has happened to this place?!?! Was my go to spot for Thai food but this place fell off like Soulja Boy's career! First off, I already knew this place was going to be a problem when the appetizer came. I ordered the Roti Curry. But, instead of roti I got a freaking Chinese scallion pancake??? It's not even the fluffy kind... It's the frozen ones I can buy at Hong Kong supermarket... For my entrees I ordered the Chicken pad Thai and grilled beef. On the menu it says it's spicy with two stars but okay... It came bland as hell. I asked for it to be cooked medium rare, you know that's how beef is suppose to be eaten, but okay... My favorite Thai food up to date. The pad Thai is so good. All the components and all of the flavor are above and beyond. I really enjoy the calamari as well.. They also throw a little spice rack on the table with soy sauce, jalapeños, some kind of thick hot sauce, and some very spicy chili flakes. The spice rack gives you the opportunity to control the spiciness or saltiness of your dish. The service is also amazing.. I would recommend NOT going during the weekend after 6pm.. this place is PACKED ( for a good reason ) BUT you will definitely have to wait. Although I usually don't have alcohol drinks when I dine here, everytime I've had one it was up to par.. This place is just an all around great atmosphere with really yummy Thai food. read more

This is a modern type restaurant and it just is amazing. You walk into a large room through curtains and you see a bar and seats around it. It seems so brand new. The service here was excellent and they came over and asked us how every dish was. They also came often for water. Their food is just AMAZING! My brother introduced me to this place when he decided to bring me and my Mom here for Mother's Day. From the outside, it doesn't look like much. But, on the inside it's decorated very beautifully. After originally coming here with my family, I've since returned with a number of my friends and tried many different dishes. I think it's important to note that some of the best dishes served here are their more spicy offerings. They have a one, two and three star system for measuring the spiciness of their dishes. And really, if it has three stars next to the name of the dish, they are not kidding. Your mouth will be on FIRE. Hot, delicious, mouth numbing fire. My boyfriend orders the famous Jungle Curry every time we come here. It's the only curry dish served without coconut milk and it comes in it's own boiler. The waitress asked him how spicy he wanted it, and when he said "Very" she gave him a concerned look and a shake of the head. "I think you should order mild if you don't eat spicy food often and moderate if you do," He ordered the moderate and it was delicious, but hot as hell. He sat there pouring sweat, wiping his face with his napkin and determined to finish every last bite. And he did ... even the chilies! He has since graduated to ordering "Very spicy". God bless him, but I like to try different things each time. My favorite appetizers that they offer are the steamed mussels and the joi jah, deep fried tofu skin stuffed with crab meat. Their calamari is also tasty, but not too memorable. The duck roll didn't blow my mind but was very respectable. The papaya salad is a MUST! Cool, thin strips of crunchy papaya in lime juice with the perfect amount of heat at the end compliments every other dish on the menu. As far an entrees go, I've tried the Larb, Grilled Jumbo Shrimp and Grilled Tender of Beef. All three dishes were outstanding, with the beef probably being my favorite. Everything was cooked to perfection, everything was seasoned just right, and everything was healthy and guilt free. I've also tried the Grilled Loin if Pork, which I didn't much care for. However that was a matter of preference, I just wasn't feeling the sauce that accompanied it. They have a large bar, and a large drink menu. The mixed drinks I've tried there were strong, but pricey. They have a nice win selection as well. As far as service goes, BKNY Thai shines. They have some of the friendliest and most attentive servers I've ever seen. That really resonates with me. In these tough financial times, I appreciate excellent service even more. Located in the middle of a block on Francis Lew Blvd, BKNY doesn't look like much on the outside. However once inside, you're treated to a nicely decorated huge yet still cozy Thai restaurant. Ive been coming here for years and like most of my favorite restaurants I'm finally getting to write them a review. I came here on a cold and snowy Saturday night after plans got cancelled and we wanted to stay local. We had panned to go to a Sea in BK but after reading some recent reviews and the weather being bad those plans changed. (good thing for us as I think the food here is way better) As I was looking for parking I recognized a friends truck and due to the fact that he lives out east I knew he was inside with his GF. After I called him to confirm he asked if we wanted to sit with them and the staff was more than willing to accommodate us with no issues. (they said our main courses wouldn't come out at the same time which was fine with us, but ours came out only 5 min later) As with most of my dining adventures, I was with my GF and we ordered the Thai dumplings and the duck roll. The dumplings were really good, freshly made and filled with chicken, shallots and peanuts. Nice and sweet. The duck roll was also good, nicely roasted duck with veggies inside and a great hoisen sauce on the side. For entrees I had the BKNY mixed special which had tons of seafood inside all prepared perfectly. I posted a pic to show even though I had already begun eating it. I asked for it spicy and they complied. the three starts on the menu denote that it's the hottest and it had me sweating while I was eating it. My GF had the grilled tender of beef which I've had in the past . It's always grilled to your liking and the spicy Thai herb sauce always make the dish. They serve it with a papaya salad that is a bit spicy too and sticky rice. I absolutely love this place and I've always had great meals here. They are never really packed, which is probably due to their location, but that just means I'm always guaranteed a seat there. A definite must try if you are in the area. read more

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. The food was just ok. I had the "Thai vegetable cake" for an appetizer, which was great and the "pad preaw wan" entree (just ok). I also ordered the "Thai dumplings" appetizer, which didn't come until we were almost finished with our entrees. I wish they'd forgotten it all together because they were disgusting. Service was extremely slow considering this was a Friday afternoon and it was pretty much empty. Maybe because all the servers were folding laundry in the middle of the restaurant. Found this place nearby after movie plan failed. At first glance, you would think this place looks crappy inside but fear not people! It's got great decor inside and very spacious. It was't too busy when we arrived for dinner and after much contemplation, I ended up ordering the Kaeng Dang (Red Curry) with chicken and my friend ordered the Tri-flavor baby back ribs and also crab cakes for an appetizer. The entrees come out and I start eating and noticed the small portions. The rice portion was definitely less than I'm used to when eating in Thai restaurants. The red curry was good but I've had better. The ribs were fine though my friend agreed we've had better for cheaper. I was busy chatting and eating that I finally realized. WHERE IN THE WORLD WERE THE CRAB CAKES? Nowhere to be found... Ahh the mystery. We already finished most of our entrees and I was originally going to give this place a better rating but the service could have been better. There weren't that many people dining in so I couldn't understand why the appetizer never came out. First time at a Thai place in Queens. Didn't expect much and I admit I went more because it was in Queens. All the Thai places I've been to have been in Manhattan and are laden with sodium and ketchup in their pad thai. I thought that the 718 would bring a little sumthin' sumthin'. Sigh. I thought the portions could be bigger and the price a bit more reflective of a Queens-based restaurant and for their portion size. I'm not in Manhattan anymore! Don't make me pay like I still am! Food is still good in terms of quality and taste. Not heavy on the sodium and it's still very delicious. The Crispy Fried Calamari, the Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, and the Massaman Curry were all good. Authentic Thai food is quite special. The food here is almost comparable to the food i was served in Bangkok. My visit was for a very special gathering of 18 or so friends to celebrate a great friend's birthday. Alas, the wisdom of trying to book a table for such a large party for the weekend after Valentine's Day was, at first, questioned, but it worked out in the end. The reservation was for 8:30 p.m., and it was confirmed, reconfirmed...and further confirmed with the restaurant by the birthday girl. Unfortunately, we were not seated until 9:15 p.m. Our group was naturally livid and was ready to begin the process of choosing another venue at 9:00 p.m. when the owner came up to us apologizing and gave us 10% off our bill! Bar: the bartender checked my identification and I thanked her profusely for doing so. I told her that nobody had asked for my ID when purchasing alcohol (or anything for that matter) in many years. Food: I ordered the crab meat fried rice as my entree. It was okay, though relatively small for the price. I strongly recommend a pitcher of the Lychee Sangria! The crab cake appetizer was scrumptious! The skewers we ordered were ... "m'eh" in my opinion. Service: extremely responsive! Considering the fact that we had 19 people, also relatively efficient. Been here numerous times cause my friends like the place but it isnt anything special to me. The place is big and the decor is nice but the food is just ok, not amazing. There usually isn't a wait for this place since it is pretty big and they have a parking lot in the back but sometimes it is full so you may have to look for street parking! I've gotten the green curry and pad thai before. I personally prefer the green curry over the pad thai but that may just be because I am a curry lover! But don't get me wrong, the pad thai is good but not great! I've tried their fried calamari and it is definitely not worth the price. You are given a small portion and the calamari aren't fully battered so you essentially end up eating just regular calamari. The curry puffs were good but also expensive considering you only get 4 pieces. They offer lunch specials which gives you a salad and an entree for around $10 so that is definitely worth it! So I visited for lunch by myself one afternoon to start using a gift card I received over the holidays. I've been looking forward to it for a while because of yelp popularity as well as my rather newly found interest in Thai cuisine! I walked in just 10 minutes before their lunch special ended and to my surprise the place was completely empty! Ok maybe there was one other table, but after they left I was literally the only customer in the restaurant for a good 20 minutes lol. Anywaysss.. while they prepared my food I took the time to take in such beautiful ambiance the restaurant has. Theres a large bar centered in the middle of all the tables. For appetizers I ordered the curry puffs. I only discovered theses beloved puffs of Thailand about a year ago at Erawan and since then have never forgotten about them. I was curious to see how BKNY's puffs would compare and let me just say I had the same mouthwatering foodgasm experience that I did over at Erawan. Literally these little puff bundles of curry are one of my favorite foods, and they're "sauce" is the key to a complete appetizer. I have no idea what its made out of but its absolutely necessary! The difference is, over here, the puffs are 4 for $8 versus at Erawan they're 2 for $8! (You're welcome). They sent me a bowl of 2 little complementary vegetable? spring rolls, which.. I couldn't even finish. I'm sorry but these had a weird taste to them. I think you really have to replace these with a salad BKNY. For my entrée, I ordered the Red Curry which comes with a side of white rice. They don't warn you about the level of spiciness to this dish so if you like your food mildly spicy, I would advise letting your waiter know. I thought the rice mixed with the curry would lessen the degree of spiciness but nope, not really. Other than that little issue, it was still a wonderful dish. I would have gotten dessert but I couldn't even finish half of my entrée lol. So maybe next time. I also brought 2 of the curry puffs home and then microwaved them to which I now know better that microwaving these are a big no-no. This really altered the taste and texture. Came here this past Friday night for dinner after reading all the reviews. Its an OK place to eat if you are in the area. The dining area is very spacious, and the circular bar is really nice. We tried the duck rolls, and for me, they were so-so. The duck tasted a bit dry. We also had the spicy shrimp soup (Tom Yum Goong) and that was great! Very spicy, and with a sour kick! Yummy! We shared an entree, the pork jungle curry which is minus coconut milk, and we asked it to be cooked medium. The waitress warned us, and tried to steer us to mild, but we resisted! In the end, the dish was extremely spicy, our mouths were on fire, and we got what we wanted! They were not joking about spiciness, and meant serious business, and we were glad! I made reservations for this restaurant for my friend's 23rd birthday, and I must say, we were all pleased by this restaurant's service, atmosphere, and food. The parking lot was packed so a lot of us had to do street parking. We called them two hours before our reservations of 7 PM to tell them how many people were in our party (12). The atmosphere itself is not too fancy but not too simple. There is a bar at the center of the restaurant. The booths and tables were private but at the same time open enough so you could see everyone else. It wasn't too loud so it was a good atmosphere for conversing. Normally, restaurants place their guests on rectangular tables. What we all really appreciated about the setting was that they seated us on a round table. This way, we were all able to speak to each other and have a conversation with the whole table rather than cliquing off and having separate conversations. The table also had a Lazy Susan in the center, making sharing food and menus very efficient and simple. The waiter was more than accommodating and joked around with our party. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao with chicken, medium spice, and I loved it. The best part is that it only cost $10. The portion was reasonable, not too large, and I was able to finish all of it. I was pleased to get cheap, great tasting Thai food. We got the birthday boy a slice of their chocolate cheesecake. It was rich, decadent, and delicious. The waiter was willing to split the check 3 ways but we all paid with cash to make things easier. They were more than happy to take a group picture for us as well. The service was great! Our waitress was very attentive. We ordered the crab cake for appetizer, the green curry, & the spicy string bean. Both dishes comes with a side order of jasmine rice. The crab cake were amazing! You can see & taste the crab meat. Huge chunk of crab meat inside! As for the green curry & the spicy string bean, they were absolutely delicious! Tons of flavor! If you love spicy food & able to handle it well, when the waitress ask you how spicy do you want? Tell them you want to it to be spicy. For us, the spicy level were just perfect! If you can't handle spicy food that well, just go with the mild or medium. The portion is decent for the price. Great place to bring your date. The past Sunday I had a family dinner at BKNY. I am usually doubtful of Thai places that aren't those hole in the wall establishments since the serving size at non hole in the wall places are so small for the $$. I loved BKNY. The interior surprised me- I didn't think it'll be that vast on the inside. For appetizers we got spring rolls and the crab cake special. The crab cake was almost no filler and all crab. It was great! For main entrees, we had 1. pineapple curry $12 2. green curry $12 3. pad thai $10 4. the baby back ribs special $15-$16 The waitress strongly recommended the baby back ribs and I went for it since she was point on with the crab cake. Wow. the baby back ribs were fall of the bone amazing. Sweet but not too sweet, totally worth it. The curries were good, but I usually like them spicier (both in heat and the actual spices in it). However the portions were very good and was yummy overall. The pad thai wasn't oily and I have no complaints about it. For dessert we got the fried ice cream. It looked great on the plate but it was kind of hard to eat. The fried outside was amazing but the ice cream inside was hard as a rock. We kept clinking our spoons trying to get a bit of ice cream. You can almost never judge a restaurant by how it handles Valentine's Day, because nothing is ever the norm on Valentine's Day. The reason we chose BKNY was because they were offering the regular menu with no pricey prefix like most places do. This was my second time at BKNY and the first had left a good impressions, so my expectations were high. We arrived and were asked our name and how many; the guy then just walked away. I wasn't really sure how long we were meant to wait, but I saw empty tables and a few other couples standing around. After almost 10 minutes I heard my name shouted out and the man who had taken my name was pointing to a table. The vibe was energetic with the buzz of couples and families feasting on some Thai food. The waitresses were friendly, you didn't seem to have just one but whoever was around seemed to check on you. We placed our order and started to wait. It took some time for our apps to come out, but it was Valentine's day, so I wasn't all that surprised. There seemed to be 1 poor runner guy flying back and forth delivering food to tables. We started off with the Thai Dumplings, which were filled with ground chicken, shallots and peanuts and they were delicious. They were quite sweet so I was almost wishing that there was some kind of heat or dipping sauce to balance it out a bit, but nonetheless very good. We also had the sausage app, which was basically a sliced up sausage link that was full of flavor and served with lettuce, peanuts and some lemongrass, it was simple but great. Before we were finished with our apps one of the entrees came out. The chicken Pad Thai had some great flavor, albeit the chicken was a bit on the dry side, but the veggies and noodles were perfect. Since we were sharing everything we didn't mention the other entree right away. Turns out they forgot our second entree, so once we mentioned it it came out within 5 minutes. Again nothing is the norm on V-Day. The second entree was large cubes of steak in a flavorful broth with some veggies and served with a side of rice. The meat was quite tender and the sauce flavorful. Yum, yum. All in all it was a great meal with really solid food. They did a better job handling the V-Day crowds than other places I have been to. Went here strictly from Yelp reviews. This was definitely some of the best Thai food we have had outside of Thailand as we have also been there. The only complaint were the seats were so much lower than the tables and made us feel like small people when in reality we are 5'8 and 6'0 tall lol, can't imagine how smaller framed dinners can eat comfortably. Other than that, we loved the place. The food and the only reason we came was delicious!! Had some spring rolls, pad Thai, curry and bubble tea. This place is so good! Probably the best Thai place in Queens! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place looks very clean and spacious, great for bigger group of people. Every time I have come here, there was no wait, they seat you immediately. Food: Chicken puff! Chicken pad Thai Pineapple curry Drink: Thai iced tea! Parking: There's a really weird parking lot in the back of the restaruant, just be careful not to hit other cars as you pull in. I will for sure come back here ! read more
