We had a bit of a mixed experience with the food, but the service was so exceptional it earned every bit of this 5-star rating. The Food: Avoid the lobster-it was surprisingly tiny and not filling at all absolutely terrible and dry. On the flip side, the ribeye was amazing and cooked to a perfect medium-rare. The real reason we're giving 5 stars is our server, Cassie. She was incredibly attentive and took a genuine interest in our day. Customer service is a lost art, but she has mastered it and truly made us feel at home. Black Angus is lucky to have her on the team. This establishment unfortunately has gone down hill. We loved coming here for all of our celebrations big or small. We just left extremely dissatisfied from every angle. Host seemed to not know what he was doing. Waitress gave the worse service we have ever experience. (We sat by the bar, bar table 84) She disappeared for more than 30 minutes on us. We asked for sugar, napkins, more butter and she never came back with either. We were not offered refills or asked if everything was okay with our meals. Sadly, the steak tasted like fish and was cold. Baked potato was also cold that the butter didn't even melt. We had to flag down (yes waved arms in the air to get attention from anyone) for our bill because we just wanted to leave. It seemed like the entire staff couldn't find our waitress. The bill came as $79.86, I gave my card and that receipt was now $82.05. Buena Park tax was added to the first bill which made it $79.86, now there was a service fee of $2.39. Why is there Buena Park tax + service fee?? We basically didn't see our server after the meal was brought to us, no other service was given by her. Matter of fact, she actually walked out of the restaurant with us. She gave us zero acknowledgment and no apology. The lady that brought us the bill had to take our dessert request and provide to go boxes as well. SAFETY HAZARD - Found Hard Plastic in Food & Management Avoided Accountability ​I am beyond disappointed with my experience at Black Angus last night. We came in to celebrate two birthdays, and what should have been a great night turned into a serious health and safety concern. ​Mid-meal, I bit into a piece of thick, hard plastic that was hidden in my food. I nearly choked on it. This wasn't just a small piece of film; it was solid enough that it hadn't even melted during the cooking process, which points to a major Health Code Violation in their kitchen. ​The service from our waiter, CJ, was actually good, but the management was a total disaster: ​Avoidance: When the "manager" was called over, she took the plastic to "see what it was" and then simply disappeared. ​Rudeness: Instead of coming back to explain how plastic ended up in a customer's mouth or offering a sincere apology, she stayed in the back and just sent a comped check to the table. ​Unprofessionalism: I had to ask CJ to bring her back out because it is incredibly dismissive to ignore a guest who just found a foreign object in their meal. Even when she returned, the explanation was defensive and lacked any accountability regarding their back-of-house standards. ​Comping a meal does not fix the fact that your kitchen is serving hazardous materials. I am a regular here, and its because the food and service is always above and beyond. My uncle lives out of state and always wants to stop here during his visits. I made a reservation, and we got a great booth in the bar area. CJ was our server and he was fantastic. I always know its going to be a good meal when I see CJ working the bar area. We dined at Black Angus Steakhouse and ordered the prime rib and a ribeye. We got a dine for two which was a really good deal. It came with a starter, two entrees, four sides, and one dessert. We started with a shrimp cocktail. I loved it! The prime rib was good--flavorful and cooked well--which was definitely a highlight along with the shrimp. Unfortunately, the ribeye was disappointing. It wasn't cooked to the temperature we ordered and ended up being very dry. Our serve also didn't come check on us until we were almost done with our food. The sides were also hit-or-miss. The mashed potatoes and mac and cheese tasted like they had been sitting out for a while and didn't seem freshly made. On a positive note, the green beans were good and had nice flavor. Do yourself a favor and go to stater bros and buy yourself a 75 dollar prime rib roast and cut it up into steaks and make steaks for 3 nights in a row avoid this place at all costs. I'm giving this a three since our server started out great and then disappeared for a bit and we sat there waiting on refills, to go boxes and waiting to order our dessert and tables we were there before left before us but those were handled by a different server. Although the service wasn't the greatest we really did enjoy our food! My Filet Mignon was soooo good! I normally will go with a Prime Rib or Top Sirloin but this was the first time trying their Filet Mignon. Normally when I order my steaks med rare they are sometimes too chewy because it's not a good piece and can sometimes dry out in flavor half way thru eating but this was perfect! How can you go wrong? Is it Morton's no but it's a good place withe good food at a reasonable price. Like that they still have a version of the old school wagon well sampler platers. Took about 25 mins for our main course and all sides. Prime Rib was juicy in the middle but rather salty. It was good and tasty but not the most tender. I never thought I'd have to write so many so many conflicting reviews on one restaurant over the years, but I think it's because this place has a revolving door for it's Managers, if not it's owners. Samantha was the Manager 6 months ago, but there aren't even any Manager's cards at the front desk, so who knows who it is, except that it's different from January? Anyway, to business: Last time in January we had a pretty good experience. This time, it was thoroughly flat lined. We were really bummed; it was my partner's birthday (and the restaurant had been informed so.) One star: we were a bit early, (gauche') but the host was able to accommodate our reservations and requests. Good salad and bread. Trouble began with the entrees'; we ordered the Prime Rib medium well, but what my partner got was something that was 1" thick, dry, and pink, and what I got was a chunk slab slice off the butt end!! Back to the kitchen with mine with, "I want a good slice of Prime Rib, not this hunk." My partner is too shy to send anything back, but I could see it was NOT what we are used to getting here. (There are a few ways to cut Prime Rib. Someone has told the chefs not to "waste meat", possibly.) Anyway, my partner had to sit there and start in while mine was being done over again before theirs got cold, not a pleasing situation for each of us. I DID get a good cut back in about 5 minutes, the way it should have been right off. Then everything went sideways again; we were not even finished with our plates when "Here's dessert!" happened. Haven't the servers and cooks been taught about timing?? Or was this because it was close to closing time, and they wanted to leave right at closing at 9 PM?? Unspeakable. Finally, the bill. I was aware that they now pass the 3% credit card fee the business usually gets charged by the credit card companies (who are totally out of control now anyway) on to the customer; I didn't stiff the server to make up for it, but I am not so sure I am going back there again. And if I run into this again somewhere else, I just MAY stiff the server 3%! I'd hate to do it, but this is really over the line. Raise the prices if you must, and suffer the consequences, but don't stiff people like this to offset your costs! All in all, a real disappointment, and on a special occasion, too. I think it may have been due to too-frequent management and server/cook turnover, but the 3% bit is solely on the ownership. Next time, somewhere else. We dined last night - here's the scoop. They are understaffed. The server was very overburdened and thus could not keep up. We had a lot of downtime. The building is dilapidated. The restrooms need a refurb. The whole interior really needs a refurb (the carpet is so very worn). I wanted an easy, casual place to celebrate my friend's and my birthday, and Black Angus seemed like a good choicee. There's plenty of parking and it's free. It makes it an easy place to meet someone for lunch or dinner and also meeting a group of people for a special occasion. I made a reservation on Open Table and noted that we were celebrating our birthdays. When we checked in, they did indeed wish us a happy birthday. Nice start! There was plenty of seating available. We opted for a nice roomy booth. The menu is extensive. We kept it simple and went for the Campfire Feast for Two. It's $69, not bad for a nice dinner for two with tons of food and tons of options. Some of the upgrades cost more, but you can easily find good things to eat without paying for the upgrades. You get one appetizer, two entrees, bread, fours sides, and one dessert. I told you it was a ton of food! Anyway, you'll have no trouble finding something you like. We had crab cakes for our appetizer. Yes!. For entrees we went with a full rack of ribs ($7 extra for the full rack, and a half rack at no extra charge would have been plenty), and salmon. Both were cooked just right. No sauce on the the ribs, you need to add sauce to it. I was OK with that. All the sides were great. Mac and Cheese was some of the best I've ever had. Be sure and order it! We had the mud pie for dessert. Standing ovation for the mud pie! Oh yeah! Worth every calorie! The only bummer is they did nothing special for our birthday meal, not even a candle on our mud pie. One of the reasons I picked Black Angus is that I thought they would add a little birthday touch to our dinner. Oh well, next time, I'll bring my own birthday candle. read more

Stopped by for dinner on a Friday night right before it got busy so I didn't have or seem to need a reservation. There is bar seating, high top seating, and regular dining. I had visited Buena Park Black Angus 7-10-26 with 2 unused groupons for the campfire feast I had presented them to the waitress before I had ordered, to make sure they were valid and usable, however it was only after we were finished with our meals were we told that the 2 unused groupons were invalid because according to the system they had been previously used I arrived at the restaurant at 5:30 and by 10 pm... we had still gotten no valid code replacements from groupon for our meals , despite being chatting with them for hours at that point. Tonya the manager on duty that evening had graciously allowed us to pay according to the groupon rules of just tax, surplus and gratuity. She and my guest had had to alternately spent the majority of the evening on chat with groupon at our table, as an effort to resolve the problem. To say the experience had dampened our evening is to mildly put it. It was a celebration of my friend's birthday and anniversary, and the trouble this groupon disaster had brought definitely rained on this celebration. Even if Groupon was at fault for giving us invalid codes, I believe all of this could have been avoided, had our waitress verified our groupon code immediately after we ordered, like I had asked. I will definitely recount the horror of my experience on yelp and groupon to share with others what trouble the evening was at no fault of ours. I was later told by the manager Tanya that this happened all the time with Groupon,where they have even had guest buy a groupon at the table, and when they run it , it will say it's used/ invalid. I am convinced that for a while now, groupon has been running a scam of duplicate codes, in order to exhort more $. Despite the fact that they knew this was a common problem with groupon( unredeemed codes, coming back as used), the restaurants excercised no caution at all when they are presented with the groupons from their guest( like in my case), this tells me that because the extra business groupon has gotten their restaurant, it was worth Black Angus' time to keep dealing with these groupon schemes. The 2 groupons were purchases on the same day of april 24, 2026. When they ran it the manager printed on paper to show us according to their records that they were bought on a different date... and had specific days and locations of when they were REDEEMED. Overall I do commend Tanya for being gracious and helpful overall. They had sang for my friend's birthday and got us complimentary desserts. If it wasn't for the groupon troubles it would have been a 4 or 5 star experience/ service and food quality. I'd like to add over the yrs I had probably used about 6 groupons for the Black Angus campfire FEAST, and NEVER had I encountered to problem before. Each time I would rate the experience as a 4, unfortunately because of this incident on 7-10-26 we will most likely not return again. read more

When The Black Angus closed near my home at the Torrance location near Del Amo Mall, my family had to find another location to go. We are truly happy that we went here. First off, our server Carrie was quick to greet us and serve us. Our food came so quick that we didn't even have time to think about when the food was coming. She continued to be attentive to our needs. The ambiance is nice and quaint. You feel like you're in your own personal space because of the setup of the booths. This is my favorite steakhouse. I know the younger generation are not familiar with Black Angus but they have been around a long time. We've been going to Black Angus in 40 years but we moved to the OC in 2005 and we've been going to Buena Park. One thing has not changed at this location in the last 20 years, they always have the best, friendliest and most polite staff. I don't ever remember having an issue with anyone who served us. It's always great and friendly service. I will never stop going to this place, it's not modern, not bright, fairly quiet but that's not why I come here, I go to eat a good piece of NY steak and to be pampered by whoever will serve us because I know it will be the best. Also appetizer and dinner plates cane 5 mins apart. My significant other ordered her steak medium, after cutting into it we saw it was rare. We asked for it to be cooked more waiter happily took it back. The manager brought it back out, still wasn't medium but at that point I was done with the place.
