    Tax but no "service fee"
    Jacqueline B.

This establishment unfortunately has gone down hill. We loved coming here for all of our celebrations big or small. We just left extremely dissatisfied from every angle. Host seemed to not know what he was doing. Waitress gave the worse service we have ever experience. (We sat by the bar, bar table 84) She disappeared for more than 30 minutes on us. We asked for sugar, napkins, more butter and she never came back with either. We were not offered refills or asked if everything was okay with our meals. Sadly, the steak tasted like fish and was cold. Baked potato was also cold that the butter didn't even melt. We had to flag down (yes waved arms in the air to get attention from anyone) for our bill because we just wanted to leave. It seemed like the entire staff couldn't find our waitress. The bill came as $79.86, I gave my card and that receipt was now $82.05. Buena Park tax was added to the first bill which made it $79.86, now there was a service fee of $2.39. Why is there Buena Park tax + service fee?? We basically didn't see our server after the meal was brought to us, no other service was given by her. Matter of fact, she actually walked out of the restaurant with us. She gave us zero acknowledgment and no apology. The lady that brought us the bill had to take our dessert request and provide to go boxes as well. Receipt does say "Andrea O" but we don't know if that was our server or if the lady that we flagged down to get the bill.

Enjoying our drinks in the bar area.

I am a regular here, and its because the food and service is always above and beyond. My uncle lives out of state and always wants to stop here during his visits. I made a reservation, and we got a great booth in the bar area. CJ was our server and he was fantastic. I always know its going to be a good meal when I see CJ working the bar area. The food was spectacular. We all loved our food. My filet was cooked to perfection. My martini was shaken just how I like it. Can't wait to go back asap.

    Prime rib and ribeye

We dined at Black Angus Steakhouse and ordered the prime rib and a ribeye. We got a dine for two which was a really good deal. It came with a starter, two entrees, four sides, and one dessert. We started with a shrimp cocktail. I loved it! The prime rib was good--flavorful and cooked well--which was definitely a highlight along with the shrimp. Unfortunately, the ribeye was disappointing. It wasn't cooked to the temperature we ordered and ended up being very dry. Our serve also didn't come check on us until we were almost done with our food. The sides were also hit-or-miss. The mashed potatoes and mac and cheese tasted like they had been sitting out for a while and didn't seem freshly made. On a positive note, the green beans were good and had nice flavor. Overall, it was a mixed experience: a few solid items, but enough misses to be disappointing. I would probably come back just for the deals.

Black Angus is a solid spot with great food and service, but the restaurant could use a little refresh. The interior feels a bit outdated and quiet, and it might benefit from some updates or more lively decor to match the quality of the food. Maybe there is a way to hype up the menu or add some atmosphere to make it feel more vibrant. That said, the food is excellent. The steak is especially noteworthy. Very flavorful, cooked well, and definitely a highlight of the meal. The service is great, with friendly and attentive staff who make you feel welcome. Overall, Black Angus delivers on food and service, but a few updates to the space or atmosphere could make it an even better experience. Still worth visiting, especially if you're looking for a quality steak.

We ordered takeout here on July 3rd for the 4th of July special. We had steak, ribs & crispy shrimp. We had baked potatoes as our side. All the food was delicious. It was a great deal for $17.75 for each plate. I would definetely order this special again!!!

Do yourself a favor and go to stater bros and buy yourself a 75 dollar prime rib roast and cut it up into steaks and make steaks for 3 nights in a row avoid this place at all costs. Half the items on the menu are unavailable they ran out of bread, prime rib, pot stickers, calamari sticks all by 630 on a Friday night.I ordered prime rib they brought me a weird steak that was not prime rib but my friend received his prime rib. Spoke to the server and he said ya sorry they tried to give you a different kind of steak because we ran out. What, who does that. manager came over said would I like chicken instead. it's a steak house why would I want chicken. They obviously think their customers are stupid enough to accept the wrong meal (steak). All this took 2.5 hours My friends were finished with their meals before I got my new meal. Absolutely ridiculous, not a care in the world by the manger or the server. This was my first and last experience ever at black anus. I was overly frustrated with the whole experience I asked for my dessert to go and when I got home my ice cream was in the smallest container they had and was mostly ice. This place should close it doors and stop taking advantage of customers. This place was empty and it took forever for any kind of service. This place won't be around much longer. Here's a photo of the steaks I bought the next day at stater bros and the ice cream they gave me. I wish I took a picture of the weird steak they first served me. Im sad I have to give this place 1 star. And to the manager and server laughing about not having certain items that's crazy, but you're right this place is a joke we couldn't help but laugh as well. We were laughing at you not with you.

I'm giving this a three since our server started out great and then disappeared for a bit and we sat there waiting on refills, to go boxes and waiting to order our dessert and tables we were there before left before us but those were handled by a different server. Although the service wasn't the greatest we really did enjoy our food! My Filet Mignon was soooo good! I normally will go with a Prime Rib or Top Sirloin but this was the first time trying their Filet Mignon. Normally when I order my steaks med rare they are sometimes too chewy because it's not a good piece and can sometimes dry out in flavor half way thru eating but this was perfect! I will be ordered this again! The meat was a 5 star just service brought it to a 3 star.

The dinner is gone but I got the desert!

How can you go wrong? Is it Morton's no but it's a good place withe good food at a reasonable price. Like that they still have a version of the old school wagon well sampler platers. Love the soups and all the large variety of sides. And you can't go wrong with the free squad bread with whipped butter OH my. The staff is always on point with friendly service and always very attentive. Love the theme of the restaurant and the fact they are always clean makes it nice. If you're looking for good food at a reasonable price with nice staff this is your spot.

Black Angus is an OG steakhouse nestled in the neighborhood of Buena Park, conveniently located next to the freeway. As we walked in, it's dimly lit inside. A scary walk down a cave feeling... just kidding, it was calming and rather enjoyable. Our host escorted us to the back end of our table and the waitress came in a jiff. We came to find out they had unlimited steak and also 2 for 1 deals going on that day. We weren't too hungry so we went for the 2 for 1 prime rib. This also comes with your choice of 2 sides, which I picked scalloped potatoes and We also ordered the cowboy burger. Food came a little longer than usual. Took about 25 mins for our main course and all sides. Prime Rib was juicy in the middle but rather salty. It was good and tasty but not the most tender. It's still a chain restaurant but I must say I much prefer the steaks rather than prime rib here. Should have known better since it said Black Angus Steakhouse lol.

It was not crowded at all on a Monday afternoon. They gave us extra miso soup, ginger, and wasabi. Then, at the end, they gave us free Mochinut as dessert into a to-go box. Overall, it was quite tasty. However, prices are kind of on the more expensive side. They have a lot of seafood on their menu, but it was too pricey for our liking. Service was prompt, and they have a kiosk on the table where you can order from. It was helpful since it contains all the ingredients and pictures. I would recommend this place to seafood lovers if you don't mind paying a little extra.

The food is of good quality, but the pricing makes it difficult to fully justify the value. The standout dish of the meal was the snapper sashimi. The chef's recommendation to add freshly grated wasabi, along with a light touch of truffle salt, enhanced the dish significantly. This combination elevated the flavors and made it the most memorable part of the dining experience. As someone who particularly enjoys uni, I found that dish had strong potential. However, the addition of a sweet sauce and sweet seaweed overpowered the natural delicacy of the uni, which diminished the overall balance of the dish. In this case, a more restrained approach may have allowed the ingredient to shine more effectively. In general, while the food is well-prepared, the pricing does not fully align with the overall experience. Given the location, higher operating costs are understandable; however, there is considerable competition in the area offering comparable or stronger quality at a more favorable price point. I appreciate the effort and execution from the team, but based on this visit, it is unlikely to become a regular dining option for me.

Their menu specializes in Korean style premium seafood items. They have the option of live or not. They had different set options and items you can get a la carte. We went with their live fish and sashimi set C. We also got some live shrimp and live octopus to try. I love that the staff was super knowledgeable and explained everything to us. The live set included a lot of side dishes. It also included halibut and flounder, a platter of abalone, sea cucumber, cold soup, hot fish soup, calamari and vegetable tempura. All of which were amazing and tasted very fresh. The live octopus was definitely an experience. They tasted fresh and sweet and were very actively moving. If you want to try it I would definitely recommend trying it here. The chef was nice enough to have us try two types of nigiri. Both were amazing and fatty. The whole dinner was quite an experience. Since there were so many dishes they made sure to go in order but not rush us since many items were coming out. The staff was super attentive. Many items came with its own sauce so they made sure we were doing it right. We spent about $400 for 3 people which included alcohol. I thought it was fair especially for how fresh our seafood was. I came here salivating with such a craving after browsing Yelp for a great place to eat, which I…read moreusually do when I'm searching for something new to try. I came here for seafood, specifically their Oyster Rockefeller, because I haven't had it in decades. It's one of my all-time favorite dishes, along with foie gras, bone marrow, head cheese, suckling pig, and more. I was happily surprised to discover it's located across the street from my favorite studio, Mr. Inkwell's Classic Tattoo & Piercing. I guess I didn't pay close attention when I mapped out directions--a real downside of relying on GPS these days. I remember when I used to memorize streets, locations, and directions every time I visited a new place or traveled. Anyway, I digress. The place is fancy and spacious, with a market out front, divided into three or four sections: the bar stools right in front of the bar, the bar seating area, the main dining space, and an enclosed patio. The employees all looked experienced and mature, like they had been there for more than a decade. The three hostesses at the front were younger. After looking at the menu, I decided to start with their peach puff pastry topped with vanilla bean ice cream. When a dessert catches my eye, I often prefer to indulge in it first because I might be full afterward. It didn't disappoint. I took my time, savoring every bite. The freshly cut peaches had a nice bite, while the puff pastry was crunchy and flaky, with its very tasty cream. The vanilla bean ice cream was simply delightful. After finishing, I didn't want to spoil the high from such an amazing dessert, so I decided to take the oysters home. It's half a dozen. Presentation-wise, they're a bit underwhelming compared to previous ones I've had. And just so you know, I used to work part-time as a server at an upscale American restaurant at the top of a fancy old hotel in Long Beach, at a well-known authentic Italian pizza place in San Diego, at a small Korean bar in Torrance, at a family-owned Filipino restaurant, and at a Japanese fast-food chain, among others. Even with a full-time 8-5 corporate job, I still worked part-time as a server, dining host, and karaoke hostess. My three favorite pastimes are enjoying delicious food, meeting new people, and discovering new adventures. To continue, my biggest disappointment was that two of the six Oyster Rockefellers didn't contain any oysters at all! It's baffling how that could happen. Usually, Oyster Rockefeller looks bulky with build-up depth from the spinach, cheese, butter, and seasonings on top of the oysters themselves. But these looked dull and bland with a plain flat top. They also weren't that hot. It wasn't really appetizing. Two of them only had the adductor muscle (that round, fleshy part attached to the shell), which I actually love, by the way. So you see, I couldn't be mistaken, as I slurped the oysters only to taste the spinach, cheese, butter, and the little bitty meat muscle I had to scrape a little off the shell with a fork. There were definitely no chewy, soft, and tasty oysters. I hope it was just a simple mishap, especially for an upscale restaurant known for its seafood dishes. Hopefully, a member of management sees and reads this review and takes corrective action to ensure this never happens again. Please note that the usual price for great-tasting Oysters Rockefeller at a well-established restaurant is $30. This place charges $25, which makes me think twice. But then again, some of its dishes are priced a few dollars lower than most, except for the dessert, which costs a few dollars more at $15. However, I still enjoyed it so much that it doesn't matter to me. In life, there are always pros and cons when it comes to overall preferences. It is always up to you to try things yourself and not rely on someone else's opinion, which might prevent you from discovering new things. That said, I am willing to come back to try other dishes that look equally scrumptious and reasonably priced: Toodle-loo, my darling readers. Until next time.
