A friend from Arizona is in town, and he chose the Black Angus for dinner. We haven't actually had really good experiences at this location, but we came with an open mind. We were greeted immediately upon entry at 5:00 pm on Saturday night. Even though half our party hadn't arrived, we were given the option to wait at our table, which we politely declined. When the rest of us arrived, we waited only long enough for them to gather menus and request us to follow. This was a great beginning! The server took a few minutes to actually arrive for our drink order, but that's expected at dinner rush on Saturday and we were talking amongst ourselves too much to notice anyway. Drinks returned promptly and she took our order. Hubs and I both had the filet with mushrooms, his had blue cheese crumbles. Both were perfectly cooked, tender and seasoned perfectly. It was the best filet I've had for a VERY long time. Our guest had the ribs. He said they were fork tender, with a sweet sauce that was slightly spicy. The server checked on us a few times but we were talking so much it was OK that she ignored us :) I took a star off the review, because she asked if we wanted anything else as she took our payment. We requested a refill of our beverages and she forgot. However, ten minutes later she remembered and brought them, so I gave two stars back. Really. The service was phenomenal. The food was better than expected, delicious and just what I was craving. The restaurant was clean and not too noisy. We had a spectacular time, for a reasonable cost. I did find it VERY odd that the ladies room was perfectly silent. I dont know if I've ever been in an establishment without music before. It was very disconcerting. But, again, not strange enough to be if concern. It was clean so no biggie. Definitely worth the risk of driving through North Portland on I5 to get food. read more

Came on Feb 15 to avoid the Valentine's Day Rush and boy are we happy we did! We were seated right away at about 7:30pm the server was quick to check in on us and get drink/appetizer orders in! Super attentive and great service right from the get go! We had a $10 off Campfire Feast for 2 reward from the app and decided to go for that. Campfire Feast for 2 is $69 normal price. Here's what we ended up getting below! Brown bread with Butter - Crispy warm bread with super soft and fluffy interior! Was a bit disappointed that we only got 1 for the table. That thing was yummy! Wagon Wheel Sampler (+$7) - This came with 5 fried zucchini, 4 "jumbo" cocktail shrimp, 3 sauced tenders, 2 loaded potato skins, cucumber sauce, and bleu cheese dressing. I remember this sampler being wayyyy bigger in the past. I was a bit disappointed in the size of this appetizer sampler, especially because I remember it just being so much bigger in the past when the Campfire Feast was only $45. Fried zucchini was definitely the best thing on that platter! Super crispy exterior with soft mushy zucchini dipped in bleu cheese dressing. Absolutely delish! The loaded potato skins were also pretty good. The sauced tenders were a bit on the salty side and the "jumbo" shrimp cocktail weren't very jumbo at all! Sides: Loaded Baked Potato Soup - a bit on the cold side. Maybe because of the dollop of sour cream? It wasn't for me, I like my soup screaming HOT and this was definitely almost like warm. Potatoes Au Gratin - This was very yummy! I wish it were a bit bigger because that portion was tiny. About 1/4 of a potato. Maybe. Definitely would have liked a bit more Au gratin on my plate! Seasoned Broccoli - This literally came with TWO pieces of broccoli LOL!! It was very good broccoli but come one. Give us a couple more! Loaded Baked Potato - This was the only side that felt like a proper side! A good medium sized potato with green onion, butter, and sour cream. Added a bit of salt and pepper and it was perfection! Will definitely get this as a side again! Entrees: Grilled Salmon - Not fishy at all and nicely seasoned. I normally don't get salmon at restaurants because they can get pretty fishy if not cooked right but the salmon at BA was great! No complaints from me. New York Strip - Now this bad boy was fantastic! Great portion, cooked to a perfect medium rare. I would definitely order this again! Dessert: Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream This was great! We ended up taking this home to enjoy and it definitely did not disappoint. All in all, I'd give this Black Angus experience a 3.5/5 stars. Without coupons this meal could have easily been $100+ after tax and tip. I don't think the amount of food you get in the Campfire Feast justifies a $100+ price tag for 2 people. read more

The service was adequate. The food and costs thereof were atrocious. My plan was to have a simple birthday dinner and enjoy great steaks and seafood. All of us are retired and one of us was a 93-year-old. A treat! OMG The prices per plate started at $45.00 and raced upwards of $69.00 for Steaks and Seafood. We were all stunned, and in shock for several minutes until I took the lead and said, "let's do sharables and share" So the appetizer/starter menu was our target. One signature drink was $11.00.? One of us did order a Rib Eye steak for $52.00. (And the steak was very RARE not medium as requested with a lot of Blood still coming out.) He requested steak sauce to cover the taste. We also now know why the prices were not on the ONLINE menu. Sorry folks the intent of our day was unintentionally (?) ruined. The economy sucks for sure but how can you serve such costly plates and expect appreciation. My birthday came and went and the one thing i wanted was replaced with stunned looks and a "make do" memory. OH YES, and the server never brought my order, for me, the birthday boy, of a Surf and Turf starter. LOL. oh well. maybe next year, when the prices come down and one can find an honestly priced meal. We're Black Angus rewards members, so we receive email specials from Black Angus. We love racking up rewards points. Last week our daughter joined us for dinner. She chose the Dinner for One, which includes an appetizer, one entree, two sides, and a dessert. My husband and I shared the Campfire Feast which includes an appetizer (starter) to share, two entrees, four sides, and a dessert to share. We also ordered a bottle of wine (the wine of the month was Daou, one of our favorites). We enjoyed the email special ($10 off the Campfire Feast), and half off the bottle of wine. Our rib eye steaks were grilled perfectly ~ medium rare. I love having the sautéed mushrooms and onions as the topper. I also love the house steak sauce (you can buy a bottle if you wish). Our favorite server is Kelsi. Other good servers include Bri, Kayla, and Creighton. Robert checks in on guests. Shift managers and the general manager are good at what they do. Which is why our family loves Black Angus. Great teamwork. We count ourselves lucky to have a Black Angus in our town, Vancouver, Washington. As a military family we have moved around a lot in previous decades, and have enjoyed Black Angus restaurants in Hawaii, California, and up north, in Bremerton, Washington (in the 1980s), Tacoma, and Federal Way. We know folks in Oregon, who drive here, to dine at Black Angus. It's a restaurant that four generations in our family enjoy, from our youngest grandchild, to our kids in their thirties, to us in our 60s, and my parents, ages 87 and 90. I came here to pick up a to-go order and was looked at like I was trying to steal the silverware even though I was nowhere near the silverware. This is a to go place if you want something quick and not picky about your steaks and food. This is an upgrade of apple bees lol. I would say same level as Outback steak house level. Atmosphere you will have to compare but felt like this location needs to update a couple of things but brings a nice unique charm. The seating booths are very private as if you can hide your mistress and don't have to worry about getting caught seeing by other people. Not trying to give any ideas but never seen super high booths like this in my life. Lighting is dark n moody as if your stepping into a Abercrombie n Fitch store. We've been making the long drive from Beaverton out to this place for many years and we've always enjoyed the dinners. Tonight, we ventured out again, but we had a very different experience this time. It seems that some big changes have happened here, or maybe the management needs some work. The place was mostly empty when we arrived at 5:30 Sunday evening, and a few more people trickled in over the next hour but it was at least half empty when we left. The meat I got was rather tough and looked like it either came off of the nasty part of the tenderloin, or it wasn't even tenderloin meat. I've had dozens of filets, and this is easily the worst one I've ever had. I was only able to eat about 2/3 of it, as the last piece was full of gristle and I couldn't extract another bite of "just meat". And the rest was so tough and chewy, it couldn't have been tenderloin. - My baked potato wasn't hot, it was mostly lukewarm. The butter wasn't melting. - The broccoli was overdone. - We were charged an extra $2.50 each for the "fully loaded" baked potatos. $2.50 for a teaspoon of sour cream, 10 shavings of cheese, 1/2 pat of butter, and 4 chives, chopped? You gotta be kidding me. - The dessert (we chose the cheesecake) was a small slice basically good enough for one person. - The seat on the toilet in the men's room needs to be cleaned as does the bowl. It is disgusting. - The sign out in the parking lot is only half lit with burned out tubes in the dark side. We used to have great dinners here, never any complaints. This was our go to steak house in Vancouver. We would always get the campfire feast. You just can't beat that price from Groupon! But it is always hit or miss. This last time we decided it would be our last time. Salads were wilted & slimy (can't believe they even served them looking that way) sent it back and got another one just the same. The quality has completely dropped. I went with my family today for my birthday and my dad's birthday and the service was horrible. There was no silverware at the table and almost 45 minutes after we ordered our food we were told that the prime rib wasn't available. So after waiting nearly an hour and a half we got our food to have all of our steaks were overcooked, I specifically ordered my steak to be cooked medium and it came so overcooked it was basically well done. On top of that the top of my steak was so burnt I had to cut it off it tasted so bad and my mashed potatoes tasted like they were a day old and not even fully microwaved and was not worth the two-hour wait for the food especially because there weren't many people there. Had dinner tonight at the Black Angus Steakhouse. Our server was a wonderful person to talk to and was very engaging. We were visiting the area and she made us feel right at home. The meal was excellent steak and fries with a salad for starters. The meat was well seasoned and cooked to the requested temperature. The portions were generous and the meal was priced at about $30.00 per person. The dining area was separate from the bar and offered large seating areas with roomy tables, but intimate enough for couples. A great experience our first night out.
