Food always what you expect and big servings. Service was great and attentive. Went in with my twin daughters they loved it and loved the decor and bears.

Stellar customer service and if I may dare to ask! Has anyone else has noticed the front wooden carved human size bear missing? They had 3 big size carved bears and I resent that? Why? I'm saddened to understand it was kidnapped? Otherwise to be continued and if you are going bye please be sure to stop in as its cozy and just quaint. Snappy fast service. I will be for ever wondered who keeps taking the bears. Nothing to do reflection on service or performance of staff but to the community this is ridiculous taking the bears. To be continued

I'd heard good things about Black Bear Diner so I decided to come in for lunch. When you first come in, it has a gift shoppy, log cabin vibe complete with store merch and chunky log cabin chairs. Deeper into the restaurant the seating is the standard booths and tables. We were promptly greeted and seated right away. The menus are like newspapers and it felt fun and whimsical to hold it like you're perusing the daily news. IYKYK. They have ALOT of choices! Part of me wanted either a classic biscuits & gravy or country fried steak, but I opted for a pot roast melt. It was quite delightful. The meat was super tender & flavorful. The sourdough toast had a Parmesan crust that was a nice touch. I wish the bread would've been toasted a little more, but I still enjoyed all the flavors together. With a side of sweet potato fries, it was a satisfying lunch. Coke fans be aware: only Pepsi products are served here :( They do have a decent cup of coffee as an option.

    Time for Brunch!

Definitely a great place to come for lots of food at a great price! Today's server was awesome and was two steps ahead of everything we needed! It's always cute to see all the decor they have with the bears everywhere! Food is yummy and if you love pancakes.... They are famous for them! Sooo light and fluffy!!! Go try them today if you haven't!!!!

Come in hungry as a bear to Black Bear diner! Portion sizes are absolutely MASSIVE and if you're not sharing a meal, you're definitely going to have leftovers to take home and eat later! I LOVE themed restaurants and this restaurant is very, very bear themed. Lots of black bear art, plushies, photos, woodwork, signs, etc all over the restaurant, outside, in the waiting area, at the counters, in the hallways, at the booths, in the restroom, etc. Our server was super friendly, funny, and welcoming the entire time. I got the: 1) Huckleberry Lemonade: -Pretty sweet and not tart at all and not too syrup-y either. -One refill only so make sure to use it! 2) Bigfoot Chicken Fried Steak: -Absolutely massive. -Comes with a side of salad and 2 sides. I got the onion rings and the Italian green beans with bacon to try to balance out some veggies with the amount of meat. Standard green beans and bacon. Slightly crunchy. Huge portion of onion rings, I couldn't even tell that it was a side. Real onions inside but not too soggy. -It's a 10 oz deep fried tender slab of beef smothered in country gravy. -Delicious savory dish, very nostalgic and warming meal. It is a tad dry, but nothing that the oceans of country gravy on top didn't help. I definitely had to bring this home as left overs. There's also lots of bear themed gifts and merch in the front and some baked goods for walk in and purchase (like pies). Great place to get huge amounts of food. Would come back again and split an entree.

Still has that COCOs feel to it when you come through the front door and you see that counter for the pies. I really miss seeing that when coming into restaurants. It was super busy, matter of fact I can't think of when the last time it was I ever saw it not busy. Got the normal biscuits and gravy, with eggs and a side of pancakes. The portion control is on full attack when you eat here. There definitely will be some loved ones telling you to "leave it and save yourself, I'll eat the rest for you!" The ambience definitely still has that flashback feeling of a Marie calendars, Cocos or Spires from my younger years. Has a very Midwest feel to it. Our waitress was amazing and literally one of the best waitresses we've ever had. My nephew has Asperger's and she was so sweet to him with such a kind heart. That kind of patience is not found in many people now days. The wait can be long for sure. Parking can be a little chaotic at times. The food is good and the seating and customer service tops.

That cinnamon roll French toast was amazing!!! Oh my gosh. I loved the cinnamon roll French toast. It tasted just like cinnamon rolls! Then you add the syrup and it's French toast too lol Love the concept! Delivery was there too! 10/10 I also ordered a veggie omelette with a side of fruit. The veggie omelette was delicious. It had lots of veggies and was very flavorful! Plenty of cheese too. 10/10 My husband got the country fried chicken with hash browns. It also came with a side of huge biscuits! They were so big!! The biscuits were smothered in gravy. Hearty breakfast meal. 10/10 Ambiance was busy. Service was good. Plenty of parking nearby.

One of the best diners in Fullerton. Lots of delicious food and very affordable and family friendly. Big portions and so many options to choose from. They have so much merchandise you can purchase at the front. Service was excellent and everyone was very kind. A great place to eat with family or for special occasions. 10/10, heading to Black Bear Diner again!

We've been here before and the food was good. This off this visit The clam chowder was very good and I enjoyed it. On the Reuben sandwich the meat seemed to be old and didn't have much flavor. We ordered a taco salad with ground beef. They used a pulled apart hamburger patty. It didn't work. We also ordered a bowl of oatmeal. It was early evening. It's was like paste. It would have been nice for them to tell they were out of oatmeal. But they served oatmeal that should have not been served. The coffee was hot and we enjoyed it. The service was fine and the waiter did a good job. The restaurant was clean and look nice. I'm not sure we'll be coming back anytime soon.

    Veggie omelette. Very very good.

Well gave this place another chance. Last time. Waitress laughing with cook and waiter sneezing everything. Food very good tasty. Busy today. Or server not sure his name maybe Jess. But very attentive. Always asking of everything was ok and if we bed anything. Good experience this time.

Hate giving this place a negative review, because as a Brit (from Liverpool), want a this pub…read morenearby to stay thriving, however.. as a Brit I have to call it like it is and address something sour that happened this time. (Note: I have been here many times over several years and have never had any issues. The staff has always been polite, friendly and respectful, food and service always good, like outside of this incident I'd rate it 4-stars). I went to enjoy the England vs. Argentina game today, as I had with previous World Cup games, and something was very very wrong. Immediately at entering I was greeted by new aggressive security people (there were many) that told me "if you can't find a seat you will be kicked out". Very unusual as last two times I was there it was literally everyone standing up and cheering everywhere while buying drinks and ordering food; this time it was half empty and quiet, as if the mood was shut down. Some people standing in what I'll assume are "safe" area's, most sitting. The place is small so there's not a lot of seating, and there were no seats visibly available. I told security I was waiting for my wife to enter and wanted to order something and stood by the bar (near the door), they didn't say anything while I stood there so figured I was fine. Within 1 minute from that moment I was grabbed (GRABBED) by the arm and was told I had to leave and couldn't come back . I went to the back patio with my wife because she arrived the moment I got kicked out - same thing back there. There was a woman security person eyeing everyone and telling them to go to Roscoe's instead, I asked her why she was telling people that when the place wasn't even that busy (compared to last time) and she said oh this is a day job but I actually work for Roscoe's; This sudden presence of intense security was so confronting and obviously making patrons uncomfortable, the place was quiet and many people were leaving. Incredible job Ye old ship management, there's nothing like changing the atmosphere for the worst and pissing off your customers simultaneously. You're a British Pub for crying out loud! No idea how things are going now as I'm elsewhere (not Roscoe's). Avoid this place (at least today), chances are you won't be staying anyway. *Management, want me to change this review? I'd be happy to.. reach out to me - I'd love an apology for this nonsense today and to know that you're going to do better next time. **as a few people mentioned this sounds like fire code issues and they probably got in trouble.. understandable, I get it, but still not ok to treat customers poorly. If security is going to be that interactive with customers you need to hire individuals with better communications and people skills. ***photos added are from previous times attending (before security) and as mentioned, there was never any issues at the old ship before and the staff was always polite and friendly. Take this post for what it is, my observation and experience as a patron - don't be a wanker.
