Black Bear Diner is a great home-cooking style restaurant and we love coming in. They have fantastic breakfast offerings and the portions they bring out to you are giant! You will NOT go hungry here and may even need to share a dish or take some home to enjoy later. Fun interior with dark wood and accents. It's like eating in a cabin in the woods. Good times. Their lunch and dinner meals are excellent as well. I particularly enjoyed the Tri-tip steak sandwich this last time around. Their chowder isn't great, unfortunately, but otherwise everything else was great. They have their own steak sauce (tastes similar to A1) and a selection of 3 different bottled hot sauces at each table (mild to habanero hot), which we loved. Great service and friendly waitresses round out the experience here. Stop in if you have a hungry belly and are in the mood for some tasty home-cooked goodness!

Shasta Veggie Scramble (360 cals.) with salsa, no cheese - delicious!

Do you guys happen to do half orders?

We do not, however, we are fine with people splitting/Sharing entrees. We also have our Little Less menu items that are smaller portions

She immediately got our coffee and took our order, but had to come back and get our order again due to a glitch in the system and she couldn't remember what we had ordered. I ordered the veggie omelet and my husband ordered the Philly steak bowl, mine came out first and about 5-10 minutes later my husband's order showed up. The food was delicious... my husband gave me a bit of his and the steak was so tender, and I shared my omelet with him since I was full and could not eat it all. The hash browns were cooked perfect, crispy on the outside. If you have never been it's a must place to go if you live in Layton or Ogden, both locations have great food.

The restaurant was not very busy with other people complaining about the length of time getting service, when we finally got our order, it was totally WRONG! The food we did get was very good but incorrect, when we asked for to go containers and our check this took another 10-15 minutes before the container was delivered no check. I finally went to the front counter, another 10 minutes to find the check, because it was entered incorrectly, while waiting spoke to two other customers that said it was the worst experience that they ever had!!! I frequently go to other locations and love the food, service and ambiance but the service at S Ogden SUCKS!!!

At check out...not a word was uttered. No "thank you", or "y'all com back", or "how was everything". I was TOTALLY ignored and invisible to the cashier. So..this restaurant will never visible to me. At the counter is the beverage station, and noticing the smiles and friendliness of the staff, you can feel the kindness and genuine courtesy of the staff. Everyone of them were smiling. I asked what was good, and having ordered what was recommended, Connie smiled and said thank you for trusting her. That level of warmth is hard to find and if you allow it, consumes you and you head right out into the world and spread it. What a wonderful way to start my adventure today. The crunchy French toast breakfast combination was everything she said it would be! Delicious! And along with the smiles, my breakfast experience at The Rusty Spoon was amazing! And while you're at it, buy a t-shirt. Have an awesome day everyone.
