My wife and I traveled to Washington, UT to attend the wedding of a close friend. The Black Bear Diner was across from our hotel so we decided to give this location to try. Ambiance is typical for the Black Bear Dinner, cute and fun for kids. I ordered the turkey dinner and my wife ordered the fish and chips. This chain claims to make much of their food from scratch but that doesn't seem to be the case (in my estimation). My soup had no bacon, a few potatoes and very little taste. The cornbread was sweet, but hot and moist. Sliced turkey was moist but very salty. The gravy atop it was jarred and did nothing to hide the turkey's excessive saltiness. It came with mac and cheese that was mostly milk and flour, with very little cheese. The onion rings were good and crisp. My wife's fish was moist if a tad greasy. She requested that her fries be extra crisp. What she got were soft, unseasoned fries that were very unappealing. The side of coleslaw was actually crisp and fresh, quite good. Overall the food was substandard. HOWEVER, the service was Outstanding! Our waitress, Dayna, seemed to be the only person waiting tables during the dinner rush. She patiently took our order, kept our glasses full and got us everything we requested. She worked hard to give a good experience and I hope they appreciate her efforts. We have now tried several locations of this Diner. The locations in Riverton and Sandy were very good. This one was not. We would not recommend this location.

We had our whole team of girls here for a team dinner. Andy was our server and he was great!! All the girls loved him and he should definitely get some recognition!!

We arrived at Black Bear for a dinner meeting and they were pretty slammed. Still, Nancy was so very accommodating, engaging and kind. We were seated and even while our server had a number of large parties, she made us feel like we were her only guests. The Bigfoot Chicken Fried Steak was something. Great sized portion, with two large sides and couldn't finish it all. On top of that were some of the biggest rolls that made for the full carb overload. These things were massive and amazing. A great night. Nancy and Tayler bought it to a whole different level with food that was prepared well and very sizable portions at a very solid and affordable price.

We had our whole girls soccer team come here for a team dinner. Andy was our server and he was great!! All the girls loved him and he was hilarious!! He should definitely be recognized.

This place is just gross. Owners don't care, no managers that know a damn thing about a restaurant and the food is mediocre at best.

The Power Wrap was served perfectly warm and the mushrooms were so flavorful, the chocolate chip pancakes (with that warm maple syrup ) were such a treat, and the farmhouse hash was hearty and comforting. The fruit was beautiful, ripe, and juicy, and the avocado was literally perfect. You can just tell when food is made with care, and this was it. The ambience made it even better;bright, clean, and peaceful with such a happy, relaxed energy. But truly, the best part of our visit was our server, Michael. He was an absolute angel. So kind, so genuine, and just full of light. He made us feel so special and taken care of, and his smile honestly made our whole morning. I also asked whether dogs were welcome, and the hostess was very friendly and confirmed that they were. The wait to be seated went smoothly, and we were seated outside. The hostess provided us with silverware, and everything initially seemed fine. Unfortunately, once we were seated, the service became very disappointing. We spent some time looking over the menus, and during that time, we noticed two additional tables being seated after us. Those tables were later approached and offered drinks, while no one had acknowledged our table. After waiting about 20 minutes, I finally got up and asked if someone could take our drink order or if we were going to be served. The hostess was present when I asked. I returned to our table, but shortly afterward, another table was seated and their drinks were being taken while we were still waiting. At that point, we decided to leave due to the lack of service. The hostess did come outside and apologize as we were leaving, and I appreciate that gesture, but unfortunately, it came too late to change our experience. I believe the waitstaff may need additional training on recognizing and prioritizing tables that have been waiting, especially when children are involved. When I worked in customer service, if a guest had to get up and ask to be served, I would have immediately apologized, gone to the table, and at minimum taken their drink order and the children's food order. Honestly, I would have been completely understanding if our food had taken another 20-30 minutes after placing the order. What was frustrating was that we couldn't even get acknowledged or place an order. In all my years of dining out, I am usually very generous with tips when the service is attentive and the staff understands the importance of taking care of families, especially when children are involved. Unfortunately, in this situation, we never had the opportunity to experience the food or service because nothing was ever ordered or served. No pictures to share because, unfortunately, nothing was provided to us.

From the moment we arrived, every dish was exceptional. The salad was fresh and beautifully prepared, the pork belly was absolutely outstanding, and the steak was cooked to perfection with the most incredible seasoning. Every bite was memorable. The biscuit was unreal--warm, comforting, and honestly one of the best I've ever had. What touched me most was the homemade ice cream. One spoonful instantly brought me back to childhood memories of my dad making homemade ice cream for us when we were kids. It was such a special and unexpected gift to relive those moments. But what truly made the evening unforgettable was our server, Parthee. She was absolutely amazing. Her kindness, attentiveness, and genuine warmth made us feel so welcomed and cared for. She didn't just provide excellent service--she made our night. Our family has been through a lot, including the heartbreaking loss of my sister. The scallops still tasted like the sea and were extremely gritty. The steak...... medium and on the way to well. Not seasoned. The sauces were a horseradish and a chimichuri. Neither of which saved that steak. We literally sent the crab Mac back to the kitchen. Inedible. Tasted like tuna mac that had been left in the oven too long. Our server took care of all of our concerns and saved the evening, even gave us a few sea salt chocolatechip cookies (the cookies get salt but the $60 steak doesnt?) ......until the food poisoning kicked in.
