My partner and I stopped in here during our vacation, and LOVED it! The quality of the coffee as well as the pastries. And of course - gluten free options which were delicious AND seasonal (gluten free pumpkin chocolate chip during the fall)!!! The line was incredibly long to get in - but worth it. And speaks to how good this place is - maybe they should expand, lol! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance inside and service was also great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If we are ever back in the area for vacation again, will 100% be coming in each day.

So good I went twice on my 2.5 day trip to New Buffalo. I got a donut, quiche, and cold brew the first day and just a donut the second day. Everything was delicious. Go early to get a better selection, as pickings were slim the first day (a Thursday) when I got there around 11:30am. Also expect to wait in a line - Friday morning around 9am I waited for 25ish minutes. Staff is friendly and efficient. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are a few tables inside but I ate my stuff outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will be returning the next time I'm in the area!

Our cake was stunning! The cake and cupcakes were delivered flawlessly. Thank you for making our special day truly unforgettable!

I stayed in New Buffalo for the weekend and ventured out to find breakfast in town each morning. I am so happy I found Black Currant Bakehouse! Their bakery offerings were delicious and I visited all three mornings that I was in the area. Their menu was large and had variety, so I believed I tried something new each morning. I loved their fall menu and their donuts! The flavors were very unique and delicious! I live in Chicago and brought an Apple Butter Danish back for a friend that was visiting. The service was great and I told the owner how much I enjoyed his bakery. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was also decorated for Halloween when I was visiting, so I loved how festive it was.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Next time I am in the area, I hope to return!

I love the donuts here so much, better than any other place in the area. The texture is so amazing, soft and pillowy. Like the chewy texture of mochi donuts, if you are into that. The little brownies are fudgy, very good. I liked the wedding cake latte. As someone who loves sugar, the apricot filling in the jelly donut was veryyy sweet. The cherry almond muffin was a bit bland. Blueberry thumbprint was just ok. Service is friendly.

My daughter and I came here because we wanted to go to the deli next-door. When we saw the line out the door for the bakery, we decided to check it out. I'm so glad we did! Oh my goodness! This place has the most delectable cakes, and their drinks are so whimsical and perfectly balanced. We both decided that this was a place that we had to come back to!

The quality of the pastries and coffee are top notch. We wandered in, on our way to another business. The room was bright and refreshing. Big windows allowed a ton of natural sunlight in, warming the room perfectly. The choices of pastries were endless. Unique flavor combinations and classics were all very tasty. The young lady behind the counter assisting us was very sweet. She had a big smile and a positive attitude. I'm sure she is used to people oooh-ing and ahh-ing all over the pretty pastry case. The coffee creations took a while. I guess it takes time to prepare perfection. Our beverages were rich and smooth. Delicious! Overall, everything was wonderful, and I will definitely return on my next visit to New Buffalo.

Hubby and I were passing through on a road trip. We stopped at Black Currant Bakehouse for donuts but they were out by the time we arrived. We decided to try the Lemon Cornmeal Cookie and the Sprinkle Sugar Cookie. They were both AMAZING!! Some of the BEST bakery cookies we've ever had. Good taste and texture! Black Currant Bakehouse is cute with friendly staff. The prices are affordable, and they have a pretty large bakery menu, as well as sandwiches. We highly recommend this bakehouse and if we're ever in the area again we will definitely be stopping in again.

The best Jerry, the best! Cinnamon roll perfection. Libras like all things in balance, and Black Currant nails the proportions of dough, cinnamon sugar and icing. And to the genius that decided we needed a larger sized cinnamon roll-take a bow. Never knew I needed it, but I'll start with two of those. Throw in an apple fritter and a few donuts and we're on our way for a delightful walk through Union Pier to our rental with treats for the mornings. This outstanding Bakehouse is part of every visit here.

Don't let vegan scare you. I just tried a vegan almond cinnamon gluten-free coffee cake that was very very delicious!

Yes we do, information can be found on our webpage.

Are any of the donuts vegan?

No, the donuts are not vegan. We do have many other options that are vegan however.

I really enjoyed my lox bagel and thought it was one of the best I've had!! The flavors were nicely balanced with the onion, capers, cream cheese and lox. I was able to eat it easily and get a little piece of everything in each bite. The bagels seem smaller than average, but who needs giant bagels anyway? I found these to be reasonably sized. Big overstuffed bagels that fall apart while you eat them - lox sliding all over the place - are really annoying. These were satisfying without making you feel gross after. The coffee selection exceeded our expectations. We shared a chemex for 2. They had a few single origin coffees to choose from and we had their pink bourbon Columbian. We enjoyed our coffee and bagels outside in their seating area and this was once of my favorite parts of our trip! We didn't have to wait too long, but as we were finishing, a long line was forming down the block. Consider getting there a little early!

I love animals, so it didn't bother me that we were seated between 2 tables both with large dogs that were almost on us. But, for non dog people, it might be nice to have an area without. The vibes & decor is so cute. Mid century modern with pastel colors. Reminds me of Palm Springs. Our server was so sweet & offered menu suggestions. For a drink, I went with the post limon beer. It was so refreshing. Seriously one of my favorites for summer. Shareable plates is the way to go. We got to try more menu items. We started with the bread service. It came with whipped hot honey butter. So good. Next was the watermelon salad with cucumber, jalapeños, and Cojita cheese. Refreshing & delicious. Last up was the chicken sando & Cajun seasoned French fries with an aioli. The sandwich was crispy & the bun was soft. I loved it. The fries were crispy & perfect. The amount of fries was great, but I could have had more of the aioli or ketchup also. We didn't get dessert, although the 3 on the menu looked amazing. Maybe next time. Can't wait to come back.

The "Detroit style" pizza really reminds me more of focaccia bread. It is SO fluffy and delightful. Unpopular opinion here but I typically don't consider pizza to be a "meal." It's something you eat when you don't have it in you to cook, and even if you get it in Chicago it's like...a last ditch effort at feeding yourself. BUT this feels like a meal. Like a treat. Like a schmancy lil indulgence you deserve. My friend is gluten free and I never in a million years would guess this is gluten free. I almost hope they didn't mistakenly put it on regular dough, for my friends sake. But if this is legitimately gluten free, I would gladly get it again even if I wasn't with a gluten intolerant friend. The artichoke pieces are massive, tender and tangy. The sausage is a bit strange, ground sausage instead of little lumps. And the mushrooms really top the "artesenal" feel. There's a cute little market with interesting delicacies and they have an incredibly diverse assortment of non-alcoholic beverages. The clerk did an amazing job of describing many of the options, took a lot of time making sure we knew what we were looking at. Definitely a connoisseur. Fabulous. A little pricey but, again, this is an indulgence. A meal. A quaint opportunity to relax and engulf yourself in fluffy, delectable fare that feels authentic and real. Not just ingredients tossed on a piece of dough for convenience sake. I look for to my next visit here!

When entering the restaurant we were immediately greeted by staff and were advised to grab a menu from the nearby wall. Orders are placed at the counter, food and coffee. They also provide an estimate on wait-time for coffee and food based on level of orders currently placed. We were given a buzzer and advised that our name would be called for both coffee and food. The bourbon vanilla Madagascar latte was delicious, I loved that the coffee flavor was not overpowered by homemade coffee syrup. The paninis were delicious and very filling! I wish my chorizo Panini had more chorizo and that my gluten-free bread wasn't to burn or maybe because it was gluten-free. It looked a little burnt. I did enjoy the Uber cold drink a lot
