I have to say, that I was expecting a much different place. This here is a sandwich shop, and a just OK one at that. The counter staff brusque and distracted. Seating is limited, cramped, and uncomfortable. The whole thing feels dashed together in a haphazard fashion. All of this, easily overlooked at a casual eatery if the food is really good, but it wasn't. My fresh seared Tuna Tacos, a few mid-grade slices of lightly seared tuna with lettuce, corn, and a mild buttermilk dressing, served in a dry, supermarket flour tortilla. Not impressed. read more

Thanks to the cool lady at the Sakonnet Vineyard tasting room who suggested this place to me last year - now I require a Black Goose sandwich fix on the picturesque drive to Little Compton. For a Perfect Rhode Island Daytrip Trifecta - add a couple glorious hours on Goosewing Beach (or a walk through Weetamoo Woods) to food and wine and consider me recharged! Across the road from the cafe is a great view of Nannaquaket Pond, and Evelyn's Drive-In, "a RI must" ... well scratch that, I'm telling you that you MUST run from the overly greasetastic, overly priced, and overly long wait at Evelyn's and get your sandwich-lovin' keister to this spot instead. The list of yummy possibilities goes on-and-on - creative combos, homemade ingredients, and paired with a delish potato salad. Baked goods, pastries, pizza wink at you from the case - c'mon... you can make room. So close to 5 stars! I still haven't hit a great day for service... even when short staffed and overwhelmed, ya gotta take the first sec you can to glance up and say "I'll be with you in a minute". Staff was great, just paying their way through prom from what I picked up in snippets of convo. Ordered my food (They said they can make anything you want too if you ask, not sure if this is a staple of this place, or because the look I gave her with my puppy dog brown eyes that hold a hint of mystery.) and then the food was literally at my table as I sat down. Quickest service I've seen. Almost as if they sized me up and predicted my order. I went here for the first time recently. I had driven by it a few times and wasn't sure what to make of it from the outside, but once I tried the food, I was kicking myself for not trying it sooner. The four of us popped in while doing a vineyard tour of the area. The fresh sandwiches and hot Todds were not disappointing on this cold day. Plus the view is fantastic for those of us that spend most of our time in the city. The Smoked Salmon and Chicken Cranberry wraps are highly recommended. The fact that it was an old gas station from the 30s just adds to it's charm. Very good for what it is. They have seasonal and daily specialties, which are festive and delicious. They serve alcohol as well as have a mini bakery going on, so many muffins and baked goods. They have many specialty Greek plates and breakfast specials, but I have not tried any of those. They are very good, but a little pricy, you can quickly spend $20 here on one person if you get a meal, drink, chips, and a baked item. read more

Black Goose Cafe is a small restaurant offering a variety of sandwiches, paninis, wraps, and a constantly changing baked goods case. They serve breakfast all day and have some specialty coffees and drinks too, plus the standard juices and sodas in a fridge that also has prepared food than you can purchase to eat at home. Prices are reasonable and the view of Nanaquaket Pond across the street is picturesque. I recommend this place for lunch above other area sandwich shops such as the Provender and Randy's Deli because of the value you get as well as the quality of the food. When I visited, I had one sandwich on special that was similar to a Monte Cristo and my boyfriend sampled the Bat Out of Hell panini. The sandwiches were served with a pickle slice that tasted home made plus a cup of potato salad, and we both got drinks out of the fridge to go with them. My sandwich was very delicious and had a nice balance between meat, cheese and sauces. My boyfriend's panini was a little heavy on the caramelized onions but he got a nice thick slice of meatloaf - they definitely don't skimp here! Afterwards, we took home a slice of chocolate chip cheesecake plus a 'smores bar. The cheesecake was good but nothing extremely special, but the 'smores bar was great. There were plenty of graham cracker crumbles and mini marshmallows on top of a thick layer of hardened chocolate. I recommend it if you're in the mood for something sweet. I would return here for a panini if I were in the mood, but out of the four times we've tried to eat here, three times the tiny parking lot was so crammed full of cars that we just passed it up. There parking lot can really only hold five or six cars and the cafe inside has limited seating as well. If you feel bold then you can park on the street but Main Road can be quite busy but I don't like the hassle of having to do so. read more

We recently discovered this spot quaintly nestled on the main drag across from an idyllic New England cove in Tiverton, RI. We've been back a few times and each time we try something different...so far everything has been a winner. This cafe is perfect for any time of year; despite its small and cozy interior it's never super busy and it feels like a spot that would be good to linger for an hour or two over a coffee and a game of scrabble. Once you taste the food, you'll be as surprised as I was that it's never crowded. If it's your first trip there and you are ready for a MEAL. Try the Mama's Boy...they combine way too many delicious tastes into this dish. You might as well just look at the deserts, because there is no way that you;ll have room for them after the large meal portions. Definitely a great spot and highly recommended. read more

Walked in at 6:58pm and were told they were closed. She said they closed at 7:00. I questioned the hours because they are listed as being open daily until 9:00pm according to this page. We were told they have asked for it to be corrected several times and the hours still remain as open until 9:00pm. We come here often during the early afternoon hours and will still continue to come here, but a concession could have been made and she could have taken our to go order anyway, especially since there were customers still in the restaurant eating. read more

Decided to give this place another chance after our very unpleasant experience last year. Was extremely disappointed, yet again. Ordered a "Protein Bowl" that consisted of a lot of lettuce, a few extras only ONE small piece of avocado. The grilled chicken that I asked to add ($3.50), was very dry and without any taste, whatsoever. We also ordered their "Gobbler" sandwich, which was less than optimal. Deli turkey meat instead of the advertised "our own oven roasted turkey". To end, an overpriced "mango" smoothie. Not one microgram of fresh mango in the overpriced drink. It's a shame, because the place has a nice location with a nice view, but the food is poor quality and overpriced. I love this little Tiverton gem. I came here after a beach day and the salad was the perfect meal after I sat all day in the sun. It has indoor/outdoor setting and we opted to sit indoor in the air conditioning. The service was friendly. Alcohol is available as well as specialty coffees and bakery treats. I had a chocolate chip cookie that was big and baked just the way i like it- crispy edges and a soft center. I will be back. :) read more

The sandwiches are great. The tacos AMAZING. The desserts yummy. The coffees are fun and interesting. The soups are wonderful. The staff is very nice. Try it. It's a good little place to eat. A good "rule of thumb" here-if the parking lot is full then it's likely the restaurant is full as well. The place isn't that huge, it's cozy, and clean, and anywhere you sit you will have a great view. Sadly, I have not had their breakfast YET. We used to LOVE this place for the first few years after it opened. The sandwiches were stuffed with meat, the quality of the bread and sandwich fillers (tomatoes, avocado slices, bacon etc) were wonderful (fresh and crisp) and you got a free pickle (which was delicious and tasted home made, not out of a jar) and free pasta or potato salad on the side. Not bad for a $7 sandwich that at one time, to me, rivaled the quality you get at Panera Bread. Then, things started to slide. You saw the owners less and teenagers more (the owners had been very friendly and accommodating, the teenagers hide in the back when no one is at the counter). The bread would be stale at times. I got limp tomatoes and wilted lettuce another time that weren't fit to feed pigs. They claimed to use avocados in one sandwich but over the years switched to a cheap paste similar to what D'angelo's uses (one time they had ran out of the disgusting avocado paste for a pick-up order and used those limp tomatoes as a replacement without telling me, I threw the whole thing out and was left completely disappointed and disgusted; all it would have taken was a call-back to let me know they had run out of the 'avocado', and I would have ordered a different sandwich). The thick apple wood bacon became the thin, microwavable junk you can get from Oscar Meyers. Now there is only one or two slices of meat, I actually left still hungry. You still get the pickle (two small slices now, it used to be a larger spear), but now you have to pay if you want the macaroni or potato salad. The quality of the ham is now similar to what I can get at Stop & Shop (and I am not talking Boar's Head either, it tastes cheap). And with all of the down turns this restaurant has taken, the prices went UP. Less food, declining quality on all fronts, and they RAISE the prices. And like other folks say, they forget to bring you your food (I watched the girl put our order in a bag and just let it sit there, we at first thought it was for a phone order but later found out, when we finally inquired about our food, that it had been ours, and she actually tried to serve it to us even though one of the meals had been a hot panini!), they are unfriendly and aloof (I said "have a great day" to THEM and didn't even give a reply) and are unapologetic when they screw things up. We stopped going for a few years because of all of this, went back a few weeks ago because we were in the immediate area and were hungry after hiking in Weetamoo, and everything I just complained about was still the same! And I had contacted them via Facebook and told them all of this originally, mistakenly thinking they cared about their customers' feedback and concerns, but apparently they did not listen to one word. Kinda sad to see this once-wonderful restaurant take such a step down from where they started. We will not be going back anymore, lesson finally learned. Many folks still seem to enjoy this place, but when you have been going from the beginning, and have seen all of the short-cuts and down-grades they have chosen over the years, at the expense of its customers, it is disappointing and discouraging. After staying in the area with our dog we looked for a possible take out place and found the Black Goose Cafe less than a mile away. Our first meal we had the veggie wrap and a salmon wrap with a Greek salad was very good. The second night we ordered potato salad a tuna sandwiches and a caprese sandwich with a Cesar salad. First the tuna salad was dry and tasteless and the bread was MOLDY EW the ceaser salad should cease to exist and they suggested buffalo pasta salad when there was no potato salad to be had. We used on line ordering which worked well but should be kept up if an item is out of stock. Overall not a good experience moldy bread is unacceptable. We won't try it again read more

This place has amazing food. I go for breakfast, lunch, and dessert very frequently. They also always have great drink options and specials. I've had good and not so great experiences here. The wait can sometimes be a bit too much to handle and some of the price tags for lunch meat sandwiches can be a bit hard to stomach but when the stars align, things here can be pretty great. I just have to remember not to go after school when children are working and they pile onions that smell like they have been sitting out all day on my sandwich (after specifically asking for no onion) or really making any sorts of special requests because you get looked at like you are ruining their lives. In short, dont order a roast beef sandwich, it costs just as much as something cool and elaborate. If you are making substitutions or making special requests speak slowly and be stern but try not to be mean because I swear I got frustrated once and the high school girls behind the counter went into mean girl mode and they kept looking at my ankles and laughing and then they would stop when I looked at them and would start up again when I looked away! I am really sensitive about the width of my ankles! They will find your weakness... just like in high school read more

Food was excellent! I have celiac disease and their GF options are great for a little spot. Masks were on and tables were cleaned promptly. There was a HIGHLY rude group of people who were ignoring the owners first letting them know they need to leave soon as they had been there for close to two hours (using their free WiFi btw) and she needed to turn tables. Amidst the Covid situation you would think people would understand this concept. About 10 minutes later the owner again as politely as possible asked the group to please wrap up and leave. The man and woman gave such attitude and the woman started to shout at the owner saying she was going to leave a terrible review blah blah blah. The owner tried her best to keep calm and continued to state due to Covid she has lost tables and needed to turn the three they were hogging over. I was embarrassed for the group. How petty and rude. Amidst a pandemic owners of small shops are doing their best! No one WANTS to ask people to leave but when you can't grasp that I guess a negative review is all the grumpy folks can do. My husband and I had a great experience otherwise and excellent service. I'm not in the area often but Black Goose is always and will always be a go to! On vacation in Tiverton, and this place was listed as right nearby for sandwiches. Wasn't sure how it would be for dinner. It was great. Charming little place with a beautiful view. The gals who took our order were friendly and accommodating. We could not believe how big the menu was, so it was hard to choose. We salivated over the wonderful baked goods at the counter where you order, but did not try them. The sliders - we had one burger and 2 caprese were out of this world, especially being served on soft potato rolls. My summer salad was yummy, the tuna tacos were great, having been made with chunks of seared fish, and the Sonoma sandwich was healthy and perfectly made. The multiple coffee variations, especially the peanut butter version were delicious. Whenever I'm in Tiverton, I will absolutely come here daily. read more

I would love to give the Black Goose 4 stars, because the food is really really good. Desserts are delicious, awesome breakfast (French toast soufflé! OMG), good coffee... BUT the service is consistently horrendous. The counter help borders on unpleasant, with zero customer service skills. The last time I was there they forgot to make my coffee and had a disagreement with the customers both in front of me and behind me. That seems par for the course every time I go.
