We were looking forward to a new pizza place with a stone oven as pitched by this sports bar/tavern in their grand opening advertising. Last night we carried out two pizzas. It was underwhelming. The place was jammed, probably still because people are looking for something novel. We ordered a Margherita Pizza and a build your own (they don't offer a vegetarian pizza which we had to build). The pizzas are equal to a large in most establishments. For those we paid $39. Not cheap. They told me 35 minutes. When I picked up the pizza and drove the 5 minute trip home the pizzas were already cold. The crust was soggy on one pizza and scorched on the other. The Margherita Pizza ($14) had no cheese except for a sprinkling of powdered parmesan. It had tomatoes swimming on top of it, hence the soggy crust. The custom vegetarian ($24!) was just OK. They get between $2 and $4 per topping so custom pizzas get expensive fast. Good pizza is defined by good crust. This crust had no toothless, was too thick and had thick dry edges. Fail. I hope the new kitchen crew gets better. Because if not, they will see the crowds diminish as the place is relegated to a local watering hole with a mediocre kitchen. One of these days somebody will open an authentic Neapolitan pizza place. Until then Buddy's and Village Pizza will continue to be our go-to pizza joints. read more

I've been here twice now at the Milford location. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. They had a good special on happy hour appetizers. The service was timely and the beer was cold. My friend was drinking bourbon and the selection was good. This is a nice place with a relaxed atmosphere. I'll be back. read more

This is the second time I've been here and the folks that work here are just so friendly. The food is great, me nor my guests have had bad meals here and to top it off, they have orange cream soda and rockin' rye! I haven't found that anywhere else! I can't even begin to say how unimpressed we were with the food. The brussel sprouts were shaved and basically were oily piles of goo. The bacon on them and the salad ordered was less bacon, more congealed fat droppings. The Mac and cheese was boxed Kraft macaroni. The burger was overcooked and so tiny for the price. The steak bites were also overcooked and there was barely any for the super high price. First time and last time eating here. read more

Love love love this place!! Living in Milford, it was great to have a restaurant that delivers good food, fair prices and super friendly staff. Stop by for live music and sit outside on the patio with beautiful fireside tables. Everything we have tried has been delicious. From the Brussel Sprout appetizer (ridiculously good) to the amazing sandwiches, salads (my favorite is the pomeberry with salmon) , burgers, (best fries. Seriously) and main courses, everyone will find something they love. The wait staff are hardworking and friendly, (honestly not easy to find these days). Our personal favorite is Bethany Bause! The new GM is getting an understanding of the Village & are creating their Milford vibe. They offer a great patio, fireplaces for cool evenings, fun nite entertainment like "music bingo" now & look'g to add musical entertainment & other. In the fall their talk'g about doing special events w/ a portion of the rev donated to a charitable causes in the Milford Community. Terrific idea & extends the downtown dinning options. Well we gave black label another try. Had a busy day so we got prime rib dip sandwiches to go. Amazingly bad meal I said no mushrooms we got mushrooms, no au jus dip at all and fry's were petrified tree bark. Honest to God are children running the kitchen. Today was our fourth visit to Black Label Tavern. First time 5 stars, portions are huge and service was great. 2nd visit, 4 stars, food was great but service not so good. Waited for 10 minutes to be acknowledged and seated. Waitress just not very attentive even though it was quite. Third time again food great but waitress just not great. Today - Arrived at 11am seated and then waited.... And waited eventually served. We were then told that the buffet was $25 instead of $18. Have to say the food was all cold, mentioned this to the waitress, no solution was offered! Disappointing! Would only give today a one star. The crepe station was great but the buffet definitely not worth $25 each. Very disappointing! This restaurant could be absolutely amazing but it does need a greeter at the door and some waitress training. Food is great! Portions are huge! Will try it again but not for a while. read more

We recently moved from Plymouth to Howell. We frequented the Black Label Tavern in Livonia and the Honeytree restaurant in Plymouth owned by the same people. This was our first trip to the Black Label Tavern in Milford. We were not disappointed. Anthony, our server, was friendly and competent. He even teased with us a bit, which we enjoyed. We ordered the Tavern burger and the Traverse City salad with chicken. Both entrees were as good as we remembered them in Livonia. The restaurant was clean and the staff members were smiling, not something you see in every restaurant. I just wish they would open a Black Label and a Honeytree in Howell!! read more

I was with 11 friends for a late midweek lunch. In a situation like this, a waitress can make all the difference. Ours was excellent. The happy hour menu was in effect and I had boneless wings, both buffalo and BBQ. I liked the BBQ the best. All the food was great. One friend had the Chicken Scallopini and not only did it look great but tasted great too. I found most of the menu was a little pricy, although a few items were available for less. Midweek lunch date with my husband at Black Label Tavern was a special treat! I had the mini burgers and he had the prime rib sandwich. His sandwich came on a delicious melt in your mouth brioche bun. The onion rings were crispy and flavorful. My Mini burgers were perfectly cooked and enough that I brought one home for a snack later! Beer special for the month was Blue Moon for a great price. The restaurant is bright and spacious. Our server was attentive and friendly. Looking forward to my next visit here soon. read more

First time here. Party of 4, started with a salad and Brussel sprout appetizer. Brussel sprouts tasty and large portion. Salmon dinner was very tasty and " cooked perfectly ". Chicken piccata also received good reviews, large portion. I had bourbon chicken. Very tasty, homemade mashed potatoes, broccoli. Plenty of food , even for me !! I was disappointed with the experience this evening at Black Label Tavern in Milford. We were seated right away. Our waitress took our drink order and served the soda in a timely manner. We were given too long to look over the menu. I still had high hopes for dinner, the menu had a lot of good options. After waiting a very long time for our meal the food was not as ordered. The waitress brought the item to the kitchen to be corrected. She returned to the table still not correct . I chose to let it go and eat the below average burger. She collected our plates when our meal was completed, asked if we wanted dessert or we were ready for the check. We politely said we were ready for the check. While waiting for the bill the waitress decided it was time to take a break. She looked around and sat down at a table for an extended chat with another patron. I had to approach her and ask to be cashed out. Would not recommend! read more

We got seated right away and our server was very attentive at first. Took a very long time for the food to come, it was hot when it came out, I had the 29.00 Rib Eye Steak, I could only eat about 6 bites of it, it had so much gristle you could not even cut it with a knife. I am not one to ask for a refund, I really thought the server would have taken care of it, she commented on "the whole steak" being left on the plate. But she did not give any credit for it. Probably will not go back . The food was just average but pretty pricey. I ordered Captain Morgan Rum and they were out of that, we ordered Cheesecake for dessert and they were out of that too. Really hoping management reads these reviews and they get their act together. If you have more than 2 people I would also suggest you sit at a table, the booths are very small. read more

We had dinner on a Monday night. It was quiet and comfortable. Our server was polite and helpful. We had onion rings for an appetizer. They were good. I would have liked a dipping sauce with them. My wife had a pasta with shrimp. It was delicious. I had a pasta with a wonderful cream sauce. The only downside was the asparagus, as it was very tough! We also liked that the manager checked on us.
