My family and I were in Philly for a World Cup match and decided to stop in for a chai latte and a coffee. There was a short line, and when it was our turn, we were greeted by the sweetest employee. She was incredibly welcoming, patient, and took the time to explain the different coffee blends they offered. We ended up getting the Colombia blend, which my husband absolutely loved. Now, why do I regret coming here? Because this was, without a doubt, the BEST chai latte I have ever had in my life. It completely ruined every other chai latte for me. The bar has been set so high that every chai I've had since has been a disappointment. I can't wait to make it back to Philly!

Did some reading and working throughout the morning, and saw all of the usual suspects come through: a fire crew, fitness moms with their newborn babies, the local elderly couple just here for black coffee, etc. Seems like a good trickle, but never supremely busy (pun intended) at any given time. Smooth jazz on the speakers today also made working pretty sweet! Staff don't seem the friendliest but not outright rude, but they were professional and prompt. Good enough for me! As for the coffee, it was solid, but nothing that I'd go out of my way for. Just had a latte with regular milk, and it was a good compliment to working. Overall, given the difficulty of access, I'm probably not going out of my way to stop by. But for a good cup of coffee if I'm in the area, happy to revisit.

I experienced instances of racism from the manager, barista, and staff. The barista did not greet me at all when ordering my drink but when a white customer came her mood changed completely, all smiles and chipper. After getting my drink, a male manager and staff kept looking back to my area various times. I was the only poc after a while. As I went back to my area after getting a utensil, I noticed more frequently that the staff were coming to my area multiple times when I was alone but did not do that when a white patron was with me. It was very obvious how staff was treating me vs a non-poc patron. It was incredibly uncomfortable and I will never come back to this shop. read more

Overall I'd definitely consider this a place to meet up, or lock in while studying. Just make sure to consider the time of day and time of year academically, as this is a popular student spot.
