Horrible service. Lack of customer service and communication. Ordered a pizza and they said it would be ready in 20 minutes... took almost an HOUR. I'm pretty patient, but I understand that your location is busy, but the fact that you didn't give a correct timeframe when I called seemed a little inconsiderate. I was told my food was almost ready, but my husband watched them make my pizza after they said it was almost done in the oven. There were 7 workers in sight, but only 1 person was making the pizza dough and assembling the pizzas on the line. A worker held up the line by pulling the counters out and sweeping, right next to the uncovered food...sanitary much? There was about 4 people in total that were in line and I was the first out of the 4, yet it took nearly half an hour for my pizza to be made and another 10 minutes for it to be cooked. Eventually all of the orders got backed up and half of the toppings were "out." Super stingy with toppings, even when asked for extra sausage, the worker replied with "I DID!" Cheese shakers? I kept hearing how Blaze was better than pieology, so I decided to take my wife to try it out. The counters and food prep are filthy. While at pieology they make sure not to cross contaminate the ingredients here everything was mixed with everything else. The music is playing too loud to hear or be heard while building your own pizza. The employees working the counter seem to be in a depression. One of them asked if she could take her lunch while working on our pizza and was ignored. There are 5 employees just standing in the back. A guy and girl laying on the wall their faces 1 Inch apart just giggling and flirting but nobody is helping the people in the front. Super awkward weird and confusing experience. Not sure how it's so well rated given how filthy everything is. Couldn't get pictures of the initial prep area but the pickup area is "clean" compared to that. read more

This place is like a Chipotle/Subway style restaurant but with PIZZA! The line was around 10 minutes as I went at around 7pm dinner time. They have their "Signature Pizzas" and also "Create your owns" which are both the same price of $6.85. I did a create your own which is is 3 choices total of meats and cheeses. Chose grilled chicken and ricotta. I forgot to choose my third one! Boo.. I actually just noticed this upon discussing with Lily. T. ;) After that, you can choose any or all of the veggies! I of course chose all of the veggies! Mushrooms, zuchinni, bell peppers, red onions, garlic, artichoke, arugula, fresh basil, ..... etc. So many I forgot! You can also choose tomato marinara, pesto, bbq sauces for your pizza! Since it's like an assembly line like Chipotle, you encounter pretty much all the staff... everyone was so friendly and professional. I especially liked the guy at the end who topped off the arugula, fresh basil, and pesto drizzle at the end! Anyways, I'm glad that Blaze Pizza has opened at UTC.. finally a restaurant that is unique enough to be proud of. Will definitely add this to the list of restaurants to go to when friends/family visit from out of town! I'd give this place a 5 star but sometimes the pizza "artist" are inconsistent. I love blaze, especially the BBQ chicken style pizza that they offer. I'd say I'm almost a weekly customer. It's taste fresh, you see them craft your pizza together, it builds up the anticipation! I'd like to further elaborate on the inconsistency of some of the pizza artist, sometimes they BARELY put any toppings and when i say "barely" i mean there's like less than a handful of chicken and probably a 1/4 of a cup of cheese, i suspect this is normal with "newer" employees who are afraid of putting an adequate amount and getting in trouble for it. All things aside, the ability to ask for unlimited veggie type of toppings makes up for it in the end, I always ask for additional mushrooms/pineapples and garlic. This place is awesome, if you like chipotle/subway/ and any of those "craft your own food" type places I'm sure you'll like blaze. I was starving one day and wandered upon Blaze Pizza. Love that I can create my own pizza and I like the quantity and price for the quantity. The concept is great. I do wish they had more toppings. The taste was amazing and not greasy at all. Knocked off 1 star for their salad. The salads that are ready made are overpriced for what you get since it barely had any toppings and mainly just salad leaves. It's nice that they have gluten free and vegan firendly items. Blaze Pizza is like Chipotle, but for pizza instead of burritos. They have some premade pizza you can choose from the menu. The cool thing though, is you can customize those pizzas or even build your own. They have the classic red sauce, spicy red sauce, and a white sauce that you can choose from. They also have a huge variety of toppings and meats you can choose from. I decided to build my own pizza. I got the white sauce, as I love white sauce, and can't get any back at home as the local pizza place that had it closed. I decided to put pepperoni, thin sliced cut ham, bacon, garlic, basil, oregano, sea salt, and of course cheese. The pizza turned out to be really good for the price. It was about 10 bucks which includes a drink. The pizza is a thin crust, it was very crispy, but became soggy after 5 minutes. Also the size of the pizza was decent. Think of a over large personal size pizza. It had about 6 slices. I also recommend the Blood Orange Lemonade and adding a little bit of sprite into it. I filled my cup with 1/4 sprite and the rest with the lemonade. Turned out fantastic! =D read more

I finally gave it a try the other day having heard good reviews about the pizza. The restaurant is very clean and there are tons of tables and room to sit down and enjoy your meal. I guess the name Blaze comes not only from pizza oven fire, but doubles as a metaphor for how speedy they are in preparing your pizza. I being a meat lover order the "meat eater." The prize wasn't bad only$6.85 before tax for a personal size pizza. The pizza portion can fill you up or if you have a heftier appetite two should do you well. There was several people in front of me and it took less then 10 minutes from the line to getting my pizza. Props on the speedy service. My pizza was simple, tasty, filling, cheap, fast, and the flavors were clean. These are all factors that make an enjoyable dining experience. I love thin crust and their's was up to par, all light and flaky. The pizza wasn't as oily as other places, a plus in my book. The proportion of cheese was just right, and not overcooked. The tomato sauce was also just right. The surprise for me was the crumbled meatballs which where seasoned. They provided a pleasant compliment to the rest of the pie. I like that you can order one of there suggested pies or have the option to make your own. Next visit I plan on taking advantage of that ! This place is a good place for a snack or lunch/dinner.While it isn't the best pizza, it is far from the worst in the area. It's *that* good. And if you try it and disagree, then it's your own fault. Why? Because this place adopted a "Subway Sandwiches" approach to assembly line pizza making, and YOU call the shots. Sauces, cheeses including bleu cheese, bacon, etc. Whatever you want. Unlike many other pizzerias, flavors actually stand out. True to Italy, a hint of a flavor can trump an overpowering one. [Oggi's in Tustin has excessive oregano in their sauce, and Upper Crust in Bishop has no flavor in their basil.] I enjoy Blaze because the flavors of their White Top (a standout house pizza) are "just right". (I substitute basil for the arugula due to personal taste.) It's a thin crust, to be sure, but I'm past needing to gorge. The pizza cooks for perhaps 3 minutes, and that's about all the patience I have when waiting for pizza. Only 800 Degree Pizza turns them out faster. The crust is crispy enough -- not soggy nor bread-like, without being cracker-like like the old "Me 'N Ed's Pizza". Of course, if you add lots of tomatoes or watery veggies, then you'll end up with a soggy crust --- but that's what you ordered! The price for a pizza is $7-$8, and I typically split it with someone (uh, family members, not random passers-by). The location is across from UCI, so the clean restaurant is frequented by Anteaters. In the same complex is Yogurtland and Golden Spoon, and while I haven't yet serially eaten at both places after Blaze, they both are great for "pizza chasers". Note: the shave ice place next door to Blaze - "Snoflakez" is NOT where I'd chase pizza. I was disappointed in their shave ice and price. I just don't think it's ready to be called shave or snow ice yet. (And, do not waste your money on shave ice at Milk and Honey in Costa Mesa. Instead, head to Boiling Point in Irvine!) While I haven't dined at Blaze in Pasadena (corporate HQ), I was pleasantly surprised to see it when I parked my car in their lot before shopping at Vroman's with my reading-machine wife. My third visit was last night and I really do love their pizza. Helps that I am a fan of thin crust. I like being able to pick the toppings and I love how quickly it is served! No more long waits for pizza! Yay! The staff has been very friendly and inviting on each visit. I'm always greeted and made to feel welcome. There were a couple of things that I noticed last night that I hadn't experienced before. First, the tables weren't bussed very well. In their defense, the place was very busy. Of the two empty tables that I approached, one had crumbs all over it and the other had a good-sized puddle of something on top. But, for all I know, people had just gotten up and left both of them, I wasn't paying attention until I needed to sit down. The other thing was that the worker who was cutting and serving the pizzas was very frustrated. She needed boxes and, from what she mumbled, it sounded like no other employee wanted to help out and bring her some. All in all, it was pretty minor and I would probably be frustrated too, but if I wanted to hear someone frustrated and complaining, I'd just eat at home with my kids. :D Still, I'll be back!
