I feel like this place is one of those places where my family is always happy walking out. My wife thinks she is allergic to gluten and my kids love anything to do with gluten. Our kids get one top bacon pizza which is always a hit with them and i get white top with extra garlic. So back to my wife. She gets gluten pizza with sausage, and all kinds of stuff. Ordered two pizzas last night, to take out. This was my first time here. By the time I got to my destination, less than a mile away, the pizzas were 'soggy' crusts. The small amount of cheese that was put on it was not enough to cover the crust. Although you can get many toppings, the amount of each is very small. Disappointed and won't go back. Pizza is good but service is to be desired. 2 separate times I have came here and each time the pizza took almost 30 minutes. The first time the pizza was dropped upon removing from oven and needed to be recooked. The second time only one pizza was prepared and cooked even bough I ordered 2. Each time I was given coupons for free pizza but this is still frustrating. Also the area behind the counter is very dirty and needs to be cleaned. For a new place (less than 2 months) I would think the place would look cleaner. I work 2 doors down and hardly go here because of this type of stuff. read more

I love Blaze Pizza! The first time I went to one was downtown in the West Loop near my work. When I found out Blaze Pizza was opening close to home I jumped with joy. Crispy thin crust with all the toppings you can have. I gave them 4 stars because they burned my crust on more than one occasion. I'm not a fan of burnt food. Finally went to Blaze a week ago (free pizza coupon that came in mail was ready to expire). I wanted to compare Blaze with Pie Five as they appear to be similar. So tried the white sauce with peppers, spinach, tomatoes, and I don't know why but added pineapple and feta cheese. First comparison to Pie Five is Blaze only has one type of pie crust. PF had 3 or 4 I believe. Blaze did not have the caramelized onions only raw cut. I did not care for the white sauce here for some reason. It was okay, but I liked the one at PF better. The pizza without a drink cost a little more here. I believe 7.99 before tax. While we were eating I walked toward the counter area for napkins and overheard an employee telling a maybe 15 yr old girl her pizza was burned and she had to place her order again. So the girl got in line again and waited for a family of 4 and another person to place her order. Again. Her friend had gotten her pizza already. No common sense used by said employee to tell the order taker that it was the guy working the ovens screw up. I thought that sucked. She should have put her right at the front of the line again. Also I noticed that when a guy nearby lifted his slice it was burned on the underside. My friend told me that all of our pizzas had the burn look. Sure enough I looked. Burn but no burn taste so must be the way they're cooked. But the crust on the side did appear overly crispy. I guess the young girl's pizza was extremely burned for her not to get it. I like most pizza so I will probably return occasionally but at this time I prefer PF. read more

I absolutely love Blaze Pizza but this location is the worst I've ever been to. The crew working night displayed awful customer service. Two employees argued in front of us about not telling the other one to hurry up and sauce the pizzas so she could take care of the customers. This location had trash all over the floor and tables. Although their food is great, they lack the ability to work as a team. My husband and I sat there for about 30 minutes and in that time, we witnessed two arguments amongst each other, a dirty facility even though they had downtime, and slow paced workers. I love this restaurant generally, but I love this location most! The staff is always friendly and I'm here regularly enough that some of the staff know my order by heart. They have a gluten free crust for $3 extra which is cooked on a black rubber mat to prevent cross-contamination but they do say they can't guarantee there is no gluten contamination. Tip: be sure to ask for a "glove change" if you're celiac or gluten intolerant--they take extra precautions to make sure your pizza is safe. Also, for those with a dairy allergy, they have a vegan cheese option for no extra charge. read more

Walked into a line of aggravated customers. The employees were chatting up a storm with their friends that were in line. After 10 minutes, it was my turn to order and...the employee didn't know which cheese was goat cheese! After ordering, the employees messed up who ordered which pizza and burnt all the pizzas. The pizzas had to be remade. While the pizzas were being remade, the manager came out. I thought this would be the moment of redemption with free s'mores and coupons, but no. The manager laughed at the situation and whispered to the employees about the customers. I know Blaze Pizza will pay their dues soon because of the large portion sizes they are giving customers. Bad experience won't be going back. When this place opened up I went a few times for lunch. The line was always long and the service was always slow, but the employees were nice so it didn't bother me too much. One night I was working late and decided to try the order online feature so that I didn't have to wait in the line to build my pizza. I came to the store and checked in with the Cashier. She got confused about whether or not I had paid for my order already and asked me to wait a minute. I figured OK. I had checked in they will put my pizzas in and this will get settled. I waited for 10 minutes while the Cashier serviced everyone in the line. When she finally turned back to me and figured out that I had already paid. I asked for my pizza and was told that it had not been put in the oven yet! I then began to complain. Manager was unapologetic. Won't be going back here. I have to order vegan + gluten free. Does that make me a snob? Very possibly. But the fact remains that vegan cheese + gluten free dough adds a total of $5 to what is originally an $8 pizza! Today was my first day ever trying Blaze. Immediately as I stepped in the store I was greeted in a welcoming manner. When I approached the counter and said I was new, the line cook Ulisses helped me decide what I wanted from start to finish. He was patient and understanding which is amazing in a fast food type of atmosphere. I ended up ordering a individual build your own pizza with one topping. But I was stuck between two toppings bacon and chicken, so he allowed me to have both, half on one side and half on the other for the same price! The pizza was cooked insanely quick and it was delicious! Overall the store was friendly, upbeat, and clean. Most of the staff had smiles on their faces and the ambience of it all was fantastic. I will definitely be returning regularly and I do recommend it to anyone in the area. Even if it is slightly out of your way it is definitely worth the trip! read more

A fast food pizza place with careless management, the most low IQ individuals possible on staff, and the dirtiest dining room. The biggest problem here is the staff. When you walk in you are immediately asked if you have been there before, but don't let that fool you into believe this seemingly energetic and knowledgeable staff is ready to help you costruct your masterpiece'za. In fact they are the complete opposite. The entire visible staff is not very helpful nor informative about their products let alone sanitation standards. My first Blaze experience was in Kalamazoo, MI. I was impressed by the clean restaurant and restrooms, and the great workers behind the counter. I was disappointed by my experience in Skokie. The restaurant seemed dark and dingy and not particularly clean. The restroom was dirty and had water all over the floor (aren't restrooms supposed to be checked periodically?). The counter workers were friendly enough. I was very surprised that the person who topped the pizza was also the cashier. My pizza was almost made by dirty gloves that had been handling money. I asked the young man to please use new gloves before assembling my pizza. He did without question. Don't restaurants have rules about handling food and money in one sweep? The pizza was ok. I don't think it was as good as the first Blaze pizza I tried but it was ok. Not sure I'd go back. read more

Got the pizza - did a build your own. The crust is tasty but it just isn't that great. You can pile on a bunch of toppings but it's like going to a child's birthday party where you learn not to put too many toppings on the pizza because it will be soggy. I only ordered a few toppings - the spicy sauce, ricotta basil and some cheese with artichokes. The taste was good but the spicy sauce was not spicy.it tasted OK, but I don't see myself craving this anytime soon compared to other pizza places.
