Pasadena has no shortage of build-your-own-pizzas: Blaze, Pieology, PizzaRev, Pizza Press, ZPizza (just closed), etc., and I would say they are more or less the same, but I finally made my way to Blaze because they had a BOGO offer on their app (+star). I get it, they're busy, so they are heavily staffed, and maybe something was happening, but there were soooo many people working on my one pizza, like, one person would just put on one cheese, and another would put on another, it seemed too factory-ish and inefficient. Though I didn't like the process, this pizza came out great, as it should. I also appreciated that they had lean meat options such as chicken and turkey meatballs (much healthier than sausage and a perfect substitute!) However, because that BOGO was for me, and I'm a fatty, I also ordered a "salad pizza," since I figured I was having two anyways. Different concept, I could appreciate it. The arugula and fruit salad was recommended to me by the employee and the customer in front of me, so I went for it. It was so full of cheese, which to some people may be a good thing, and I love cheese, but I ended up having to remove it because it was so overwhelming. Also, I guess it comes with a ton of balsamic glaze on top, because I was never asked about it, and when I asked her to stop, it was too late. My salad pizza just ended up being cheese and balsamic glaze with a hint of arugula, very disappointing. read more

I know it's kind of lame to rate a chain restaurant like Blaze and to give it 5 stars. But this Blaze location delivers what it promises with speed, friendly service, and a quality pizza that rivals your neighborhood pizzeria. Not every Blaze performs at this level. You have to remember: these employees could just mail it in, relying on the overall reputation of the company and aware that people might expect less from a chain takeout restaurant. Good service is hard to come by these days, and it's hard to blame food workers because these jobs aren't easy. But this particular Blaze location never just mails it in - these employees seriously hustle and deliver with a smile. You have to admire that kind of work ethic and training. read more

Horny for pizza? Then come here. Premise is simple: 1) Pick a type of pizza or "build your own" and lay on as much toppings as the inner fat kid in you truly desires. !!!!!Keep in mind the more mountain like your toppings are the more likely it's not going to cook thoroughly. On a related note if you're ever feeling like changing it up ask for the "lightly cooked" option. 2) Tell your life's story to the pretty young thang or chiseled jaw stud while they make your masterpiece. Pay compliments and your pizza will taste better. I learned this secret. 3) Say yes to the final "sea salt and oregano?" and wham! A god-like shovel by the oven master picks up your pizza and shelves it into a in a large fire breathing pit. In this holy pit is where all the magic happens. Look away as it's very impolite to stare. 4) Moving forward, make some impulse buys (drinks, salads, smores, brownies*) and next thing you know they'll be yelling your porn-star name to come pick up your $7.xx plus tax of saucy goodness. *For the sweet tooths out there: That sexy looking, basted in olive oil, brownie sitting all alone under that shiny glass cover that you keep eyeing and pondering over is indeed fat kid approved!!!! I get one every time and my bulging waistline is proof. Pricey ($2.xx ea) yes! But so so yummy! **The make-your-own salad thing I tried once and unfortunately is a big thumbs down. I can't pin point the reason but the hefty price and small portion probably had something to do with it. ***The pre-made salads I have not tried. Not sure if they still exist. !!!!!The latest add-ons to the soda and lemonade fountains like the addition of root beer and other flavors of lemonade are a huge plus. Splitting the original lemonade with water goes really well with my favorite: a meat lovers with some added veggies like green peppers and spinach. In summary, this is my go-to pizza spot. I've tried others, many others! This one wins! The size of the pizza is just right so you don't feel like you've over did it nor do you feel like you want more. its the perfect size and the ingredients are or at least they taste like they're fresh/real. Service, atmosphere, hours, and location are all great. Next door is an awesome movie theater and book store. Five stars! Done. read more

You wouldn't expect to go into a fast-food pizza place and get excellent service. I've been here 4 times since we moved to Pasadena and the service has always been top notch. Team is super engaged, friendly, and efficient. Having worked in customer service and hospitality for over 20 years myself, I'm a huge sucker for great customer service - hence why I keep coming back. My last visit here was outstanding. 2 team members Joce and Ezekiel provided the most prompt, courteous and speedy service. Super friendly peeps doing their jobs exceedingly well. I'll be back! I suppose since I make my own pizza at this joint, this is more of a review for my pizza making skills over anything else, which I think are very much deserving of the neutral A-OK star range. I love the DIY concept, and hope to one day craft a pizza I can be proud of, but as of right now, I'm just amateur status. There are some pizzas that are already designed for you if you get too overwhelmed with choices, as well as some pre-packaged salads if you want to ditch the crust. Speaking of, they have gluten-free for those that live a dull life of flavorless carbs. I highly recommend their blood orange lemonade to wash down your creation! Blaze Fast Fire Pizza is compared to the McDonalds of fast food pizza. It's about speed here and so so quality ingredients. Feel free to choose your own ingredients. The pizzas here are like cardboard with cheese and typical toppings. Comes out fast but the cheese falls off quick. Other than the food, this place is dirty with no one around to clean up. This is mini-me and my destiny is as much Minecraft as possible!!! And finishing my dad's reviews! I'll leave the stupid quote even though I do not know what the hell the quote means.(oops, heck! My dad says never cuss because it proves you have a low vocabulary although strangely enough every driver on the road to him is either a f*cking moron or a f*cking idiot. Ha! Ha! I wrote the F word!!! BTW, if you are a moron you are a weaver who gets nowhere while causing near collisions while an idiot is one who drives too slowly). So my Dad takes me to the Norton Simon Museum, to "get some culture" as he says and I have two words for it: F*cking boring!!! Ha! Ha! I wrote the F word again. All these paintings and sculptures; and usually the theme is religious (my Dad doesn't go to church. As he says: "I don't need to be born again, I got it right the first time" That's my Dad for you!) or the art work has naked women. I asked him why this was and he only joked: "I guess Botticelli liked a nice rack." Huh? What the hell, or F*ck, does that mean????? What's a rack? I thought that was for ribs? Anyway, after being bored to tears yet not being able to complain because to do so would mean no computer time, I started to stand too close to the paintings just to irritate my Dad. "Don't get too close!" he would say. Then I'd pretend like I was going to touch it, like scratch the head of Van Gogh's self portrait (see, I learned something!) but just barely keep my finger an inch away: "I'm not touching it. I'm not touching it." My dad was getting cranky (He said: "My last two dates at a Pasadena art museum were disappointing, I thought you'd be different") but also getting hungry. He knew what a chore this was for me so he let me choose. When he told me Blaze Pizza started in Pasadena, I was sold! I love Blaze in Irvine! My Dad said Blaze was next to a famous bookstore called Vroom Vroom (like Mazda) or something like that. There was free parking behind the building but my Dad didn't realize that until after he paid $3. When I made fun of him for doing that he said he was taking the money out of my savings. Not fair Dad!!! We were in line next to this irritating adult wearing an old man's hat who kept saying something stupid like "Blaze is not the Chipotle of Pizza! It is the Blaze of Pizza!" Whatever dude i just want some cheese pizza. Unfortunately, my cheese pizza came with Parmesan and I wasn't going to eat it. My dad marched up to the counter and because he is a Black Belt Ninja they made me another pizza! (Actually, they just did it because they are nice with good service. My Dad even offered to pay again and they refused. i have a purple belt and I can take my Dad. Ha! Ha! Ha! actually, no I can't he is too big and strong) The new cheese pizza was as good as Irvine's! For those of you that didn't know, I had been sick this past week. Everything that went in my mouth tasted like...well, nothing. I could feel substance going down and that was about it. Being the huge food fanatic I am, you know I've been ABSOF*CKINGLUTELY MISERABLE. The only saving grace was that my appetite was suppressed, my body was working in overdrive generating antibodies against this f*cking rhinovirus, and I GOT SO CLOSE TO MY GOAL WEIGHT. SO, SOOOOO CLOSE. And then I discovered Blaze. Imagine a fat kid in an AYCE candy shop. That was me right here. I had at least 15 toppings on my pizza. One price ($7.65) fits all - how could I not?! Hello, toasty thin crust, juicy marinara sauce, yummy fresh mozzarella, and a huge variety of delicious meats and veggies, ALL OF WHICH I COULD FULLY TASTE. You never realize how essential being normal is to enjoying food until you're not quite normal. Ugh. Spotted Phillip of WongFu here, initially wanted to eat gracefully to appear attractive to him, but immediately started stuffing my face after taking a first bite into this AMAZING pizza. I really liked my pizza here. Like the other DIY places that let you customize to no end, the flavors of your pie all depend on what you put on it. Usually, I try to go the safe route and choose one of their menu options of selections pre-created (which they have here and it's awesome!) It takes the guess work out of what will taste good and what will be a tongue disaster. This seems even more probably with sauces like pesto and alfredo. I can't see those pairing nicely with every single ingredient, but that is just me. I went with a DIY with spicy marinara, sausage, spinach, pepperoni and olives and it was pretty damn delicious. I didn't get cheese on my pizza which seemed to throw a lot of people off. I'm a lactard and was on my way to an event so the outcome of that situation could have ended in a variety of ways, so I chose to play it safe. They do offer vegan cheese as an option, too. It's a $2 charge, but it's awesome that they offer it. The crust on my pizza was super crispy, just the way I like it. There were a ton of topping and the marinara was nice and zesty. Even without cheese, this pizza was one of the best that I've had from a create your own place and I will definitely go seek out the one that's available in Irvine soon! For around $7.50, you get a hefty personal helping with as many toppings as you want. That's a killer bargain and it tastes great, too. I can see why there is always a line out the door, it's a smart concept. Even if you're not into pizza, they had a few options for salads, too. First impression... I actually liked this place. It's Pieology without me having to go to the OC... Perfect. Prices are cheap for a whole mini pizza... Compared to Settebetto and CPK nearby too! Really good price. Ambiance: cool, trendy spot, lots of seats Thy have empty pizza boxes on the counter in case you don't finish it and wanna take it to go - smart. Food: wanted gluten free but they didn't have any. It's $3 extra but I'm ok with that but they didn't have it. Got the BBQ chicken and white top Thin crust pizza in less than a minute!wow! Build your own pizza with an unlimited number of toppings. It's a good choice for picky eaters, families, or folks with particular dietary needs. Too many choices? When in doubt, pick from pre-determined menu choices. The first time I came here I actually ordered online via Blaze Pizza website. I ordered a White Top pizza with white cream sauce, mozzarella, garlic, bacon, oregano and arugula. Upon arriving at Blaze and checking in at the register, staff popped my pizza in the oven. Less than 10 minutes later, it was ready and boxed up to take home. But when I got home, I found the pizza was missing arugula! Sorely disappointed they forgot to add this ingredient. Blaze usually adds on arugula last after the pizza is cooked. Other than the missing ingredient, I liked the pizza. It had a toasted, chewy bottom crust and the ingredient combo minus the arugula was tasty. Since my first visit, I've been back one other time and brought my husband. Unfortunately I didn't like it as much. Due to certain ingredients, too many ingredients, who cooked my pizza or perhaps the pizza crust recipe itself, my pizza came out with a soggy bottom crust. Meh. It was not as satisfying to say the least. 3 stars. Great concept, but after trying other nearby subway-ish pizza competitors, this one is just okay. We came by here for dinner before catching the AMY G Entershamement show a few weeks back. Admittedly, this was my first time to a Subway Style Pizza Restaurant. It was definitely a neat concept and the pizzas are quite inexpensive. $8 for Have it your way but they also have specialty pizza ($5.75) but what's the fun in that when you can choose your own toppings and have them make a pizza exactly to your liking. The ordering is quite easy: Get in line, Wait your turn. Tell them what you want kind of pizza your and as your pizza is moving down the toppings assembly line, point and choose what toppings you want on your pizza. Wait for your pizza to cook which takes about 10-15 mins and enjoy. The atmosphere is pretty casual and seating is plentiful. They also have sidewalk tables but on this day, it was too cold. I can imagine it being pretty popular during the summer months. I'm definitely a fan and will come back the next time I'm at the Pasadena Playhouse. read more

Blaze seems to be the fastest growing chain at the moment. they are popping up everywhere. I like the fast fired concept and ability to customize your pie, and I truly am a fan of thin crust..... BUT I'm just not digging their crust here. it comes out much too soggy so it can't hold itself nor the toppings. I've had their pizzas a few times and the toppings are decent, you get your food fast, it's reasonably priced ... all good stuff, BUUUUUT yeah, the crust just isn't doing it for me. I much better prefer 800 Degrees. read more

Alright so I knew about Blaze before but never really stopped by, maybe cause there aren't many locations near me. But I finally decided to try this to compare it with Pieology. It definitely beats Pieology. The service and food is great. The food is fresh and delicious. As you walk in, you see a long line but in actuality they move the line along pretty quick and efficient. The pizza is baked really quickly, maybe less than 7 minutes. There are lots of seating and the pizza is scrumptious! I really like how they top your pizza with BBQ sauce too! Good job and concept! read more

I love this place for a quick lunch. Don't let the long line fool you. It moves quick! There are a dozen people behind the counter, all so nice and accommodating and they custom make your pizza calmly despite the busy line. I stood in line, custom made my pizza, paid for it and walked out with my pizza to-go in less than 7 minutes. I timed it. That with the $1 parking added up to a little over $10. A custom made gluten free pizza loaded with all kinds of toppings in less than 10 minutes and less than $10? I'll take it everyday of the week and twice on Sundays! Food prepared fast usually equates to cheap and unhealthy food. Blaze breaks that norm. 7 minutes for quality gluten free pizza with healthy toppings. Much has improved!! I do admit, I did wait 3 months before I braved the chance to lose my pizza to a bandit. Kudos to Justin, the owner to really taking charge of his restaurant & really turning his crew to become more efficient. No more lost pizza, so sour service. Have revisited on more than 1 occasion, & Everything is upbeat. Once I did another custom which came out perfect, & another time I went for one of their suggestions options which was quite delicious. The one we visited was located in Pasadena and their first location can be found in Chinatown. Both locations are popular with diners, so I recommended you visiting when the doors open. The Pasadena HR is next to Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee, it's across the street from Petco and Turner's Outdoorsman, and it's just down the road from WaBa Grill and a Starbucks. This was my wife and my first visit to HR and our daughter brought us here before 5pm. Please don't be discouraged by the long line of diners waiting to enter the restaurant. The staff do a great job getting the diners through the ordering counter and finding seats for customers wanting to dine in. You'll wait in line, order your food from the register, and then wait until a table opens up. The tables consists of booths inside and tables and chairs outside under a covered patio. The customer service from the young lady at the order counter, Rico and the team ensuring that diners are seated and taken care of, and the employees expediting the food was customer friendly and customer focused. The employees were so kind, hard working, and I was really impressed by their top notch customer service. Major props to the owners for making customer service a priority. Delicious food will make customers gravitate towards a restaurant, but when combined with impeccable customer service, I understand why customers like my daughter swear by Howlin' Ray's. I ordered The Sando, Shake Fries, Collard Greens, Potato Salad, and Sweet Peach Tea. We also ordered the following dipping sauces, which are must orders: Comeback Sauce, Tennessee Tang, and Sweet Money Mustard. Their Sando comes with a boneless breast, slaw, comeback sauce, and pickles encapsulated in a butter bun. I'm a fan of spicy chicken sandwiches, so for my spice level, I chose Medium. I wanted to enjoy my food, which is why I went with medium. Rico gave me a sample of a Medium Plus piece of chicken and I'm so glad I chose medium. Medium Plus was really hot, so imagine what the high spice levels taste. The Sando was huge, the chicken was tender and flavorful, and the components all ate really well together. Their collard greens were juicy and satisfying. Arguably some of the best I've eaten. The potato salad was creamy and dill infused. So yummy!! For me medium doesn't give me the kick that I want and hot makes me feel like the chef in the back was mad at me. Medium plus is the perfect in between. Once you order a worker will keep an eye out for an open table and let you know where to sit. Yes this service is necessary so they can be sure that people without food aren't saving seats ahead of time. It isn't the coolest (temperature wise) inside so you'll see a lot of people sweating as they enjoy their food but just mind your business, they probably ordered the wrong heat level and are fighting a battle you don't want to know about. 9/10 times there will always be a line so be prepared to wait. I have yet to find out what the sweet spot is where there isn't a line but you've been warned. Rain or shine though they do provide umbrellas and they're usually at the front entrance or you can just ask a worker.

I am writing this review because management needs to be aware of what happened and address it immediately. Proper glove changing and sanitation procedures are essential in any restaurant, especially when employees are moving between bathroom cleaning and areas where customers eat and pick up their food. After witnessing this, my family and I will not be returning. I'm writing to share a concerning experience I had at the Blaze Pizza location on the corner of Colorado Blvd and El Molino Ave. on April 19th, 2025, at approximately 3:00 PM. While I've always enjoyed Blaze Pizza in the past, my recent visit was unfortunately very disappointing. The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, yet we were treated with undue haste and impatience. Our request for additional toppings was met with a dismissive and frankly rude attitude. The staff repeatedly urged us to pay quickly, a behavior that felt completely unwarranted given the lack of other customers. Most concerning, however, was the method of pizza preparation. Instead of using the advertised wood-fired oven, my pizza was cooked in a small, open oven behind the counter, seemingly one pizza at a time. This significantly impacted the quality of the pizza, deviating from the usual Blaze Pizza experience I've come to expect. I'm uncertain if this was a one-time incident or a change in their procedures, but it was far from satisfactory. Because of this negative experience, I will not be returning to this specific location. I'm a frequent visitor to my family in the area, and while I enjoy Blaze Pizza, I will be sure to visit a different branch in the future. I hope this feedback will be helpful to improve the customer experience at this location. read more

Big NO. I've been to many Blaze Pizzas. I'm a regular at the one in Riverside. I've seen trainees, managers, how Blaze Pizza generally runs the ship. The service was extremely slow. Did not ask us what kind of cheese or sauce we wanted. "Is this okay?" was asked after the pizza was done. The pizzas getting put together was painfully slow to watch. Like watching a kindergartener put together an art project with 0 awareness of anything going on around them. I understand having a trainee, but there were four women total working and not a single one was guiding or helping to take over as we grew impatient. We were the only ones in line and still stood there for over ten minutes. The employee then puts our pizza in the fast burn oven instead of the fired oven?? Isn't that the whole point of blaze pizza? Used the women's restroom - inexcusable. Smelled like sewer, the small ones locks were broken entirely and could not lock the door that swung both ways. The large stall had women's discharge and blood wiped all over the power box and wall. The sink area was unbelievably dirty. It's disgusting in here. The tables are sticky, the glass in line is absolutely smeared and covered with fingerprints. I would not come back to this location. It's gross and slow. read more

I tried Blaze for the first time last December. I had the Art Lover for lunch and was craving another one by dinner! I have been back many times since! The crust is DELICIOUS! It is light and crisp, and it tastes GREAT. I usually opt to build my own with fresh ovalini mozzarella, and a ton of meats & veggies! The Signature Pizzas cover every traditional pizza combination. My favorites are the Art Lover and the Veg Out. The price and value are AWESOME!! A fully customizable, 11 inch pizza with as many toppings as I want for $7.45???? HELL YES! You can also get a Simple Pie (plain cheese pizza) for $5, or a single topping pizza for $5.85. Not into pizza? Have a salad! Not into pizza or salad?? Have a bunch of s'more pies and be on your way! Not into pizza, salad, or s'mores, just have a beer or some wine. =D Blaze is not fine dining. It's build-your-own pizza at a great price. For what it is, it easily earns 5 stars. This is a great new concept and Blaze Pizza does an amazing job with it. It's fast, high quality, and affordable build your own pizzas. I think the key to Blaze's quality is primarily in the crust. It is a flavorful, thin crust with a crisp exterior and soft, chewy center. You can pick between different sauces (pesto, bbq, marinara), various meats (bacon, chicken, sausage, etc), cheeses (mozzarella, perlini mozzarella, ricotta, gorgonzola, etc), and vegetables (artichoke, mushrooms, sliced tomato, cherry tomato, zucchini strips, arugula, fresh basil, etc)...it's truly amazing. The portion size is also very generous--you get an "individual" sized pizza for $7. I highly recommend Blaze to anyone looking for a quick, high quality meal at an affordable price. read more

With tons of local pizza joints in Pasadena, Blaze Pizza tops my list for several of reasons. First, they serve a delicious gluten-free crust which is less expensive AND better tasting than their local rivals. I ask for my extra crispy to help hold all the toppings I pile on. Second, Blaze offers a build-your-own option which I take advantage of to completely customize my order. You'll typically see me adding lots of spicy stuff (spicy red sauce, crushed red peppers, jalapenos,) with some sweet stuff to offset (pineapple, tomatoes, and goat cheese). The restaurant is kept really clean, at a nice location (corner) with plenty of parking behind the restaurant (just north of Colorado), and the staff is super friendly! read more

Wow, what a great new pizza place in Pasadena. For only about $7 you get a 100% customizable 8-10" pizza. The format it assembly line, similar to chipotle, and with an oven cooking at apparently 800 degrees the pies are done by the time you get your drink and a table. With high quality ingredients and an amazing dough/crust, this is thin crust pizza at its finest! Green stripe and meat eaters (sub pepperoni for sausage) were my selections. Both were great but I think green stripe takes the cake. Parking is in the back. Don't spend your time looking for parking on the street because it's not easy to come by. read more

Went to Blaze a few weeks ago with my brother it is actually a cool place. I thought it was a sit down restaurant from the outside. Once we got inside I realized it was more like a fast food place. I almost walked out but I am glad I didn't! We were having a quick bite before going to a bar. We were in Pasadena for a funeral. After a long emotional morning the kids were flipping out. My husband jerked the car into a spot on the street and we walked into this pizza place out of initial desperation. Like walking into heaven. The kids were entranced immediately by the cute pizza-makers who chatted and made us feel warmly welcome. We ordered and were fed so fast! The pizza is yummy, I loved the veggie pizza I designed. I usually get my pizza pretty plain! just the regular tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese with EXTRA feta cheese, pepperoni, sausage, red onions, and some oregano! They also have desserts like brownies and smores and it's good quality and tasty. Parking can be hectic but that is the only downside. This place has some really good pizza. I love the ricotta cheese lumps they put on the pizza with the garlic. This place reminds me of a chipotle for pizza. You go down the row and you pick what toppings you want, what type of sauce then they put it in the oven for you. My lunch break isn't always very long, so I feel like it takes almost 20 minutes to stand in line, order, and wait for the pizza to be done. The price, taste, people, and design are all not bad. We ordered eggplant parm & spicy salami. Both were very tasty with freshly baked bread having that perfect amount of toast and chew. Fillings of ingredients were seasoned well and plentiful. A small sandwich is very substantial in size. Top it off with some oregano and chili flakes table side. We luv'd this spot would definitely return.

My daughter and I arrived at 6pm, ordered a Cesar salad and 2 pizzas and just left at 7:10 with our pizza's in a to-go box. An hour. For 2 pizza's. I mean at least give your customers a heads up if you're slammed and the food is going to take a little longer than normal. But no, not this time. After 45 minutes I went to the counter and expressed that we had somewhere to go and we'll just take the pies to go. All that was said to us was "I don't know what else to say but sorry." Ok, well so am I. Sorry that there are so many other awesome pizza joints in this town to throw my hard earned money at.

Then she said something under her breath that I couldn't hear clearly. I thought she said there was a 3-hour wait, so we asked for clarification. She responded with even more attitude. At that point, I honestly wasn't even interested in the pizza anymore. The owner was standing at the end of the counter. The place is very small, so either he didn't hear how she was treating customers, or he allows it. This is a business. Getting an attitude with someone who's simply trying to order a pizza is crazy. Even when our food was ready, the employee just set the plates down like she was annoyed we were there. The pizza was good, but the customer service was so bad that I wouldn't come back.
