Have ordered a lot of take out during the pandemic and this was a go to spot because they were good and I wanted them to success. Sadly the quality isn't consistent. Had a rack of ribs so tough the family wouldn't eat them. Called to let them know about the ribs, Zach said they would make another slab or could refund me. I opted for the refund since we already ate dinner. Never got the refund. Followed up to let them know so they could make it right in case their online ordering service was the issue, but no response. Previously had an orders with items missing and the beans tasted like burnt liquid smoke. The only thing that seems to be consistent is a friendly smile and their brisket, but in a town of bbq and doordash, they better step up their game to keep up with Joe's, Q39, and Jack Stack for the price. read more

Had a very nice BBQ dinner! The smoked spin dip was pretty good. The cheese topping was a little too thick for the chips and the artichokes were a little too tangy for my liking. The main course was amazing though! Baby back ribs were so tender and the sauce was the perfect accompaniment. Blind Box BBQ burned a hole on my bookmark list for too long, I finally had to pull the trigger and make the drive out for it. It definitely didn't disappoint, and my first time here has me thinking about another visit. New BBQ places used to scare me. I didn't always like trying BBQ in new cities because I had a loaded chamber full of KC pride and didn't want to hear it from any other cities (thankfully I've gotten over that). I only indulge in BBQ every so often, so for the longest time that meant hitting the long running classics around town. Ever since some strong new contenders have opened up, it's totally changed my paradigm about new BBQ and made me eager to venture out to try it, even if it's a ways away in Shawnee. Met up with fellow Yelper Brent B. to explore this spot on a sunny summer day. The special of the day was a smoked Cuban sandwich with smoked ham, pulled pork and a heaping side of fries. Being huge Cubano fans, we each ordered it and I really enjoyed it. The pulled pork had the best flavor on the sandwich, whereas the ham was good but had a slightly more 'sliced lunch meat' quality to it. I like thick, Easter like ham when I can get it. The fries were off the charts, and especially good with their housemade sauce. The sauce is dark, and when poured out it resembles Arthur Bryant's. The flavor is totally different than Bryant's however; smoky, light and delicious. I typically like to start with burnt ends as a measuring stick but that lunch special was too good to pass up. Next time I'll take a more traditional BBQ dive in and see how they do it. read more

Finally tried out this place with a friend and did not disappoint. Music was on point too! We came for happy hour and I got the seasonal sangria which was an apple cider sangria that was delicious. Decided to order take out to bring home, we live in south Olathe. Typically take home food loses something during the trip, not this. The nachos have to be the best I have ever eaten. Chips were still crispy. Even my kids (who don't like anything that's not a chicken tender) ate everything and to quote my son " This is fire". Not a fan of the lettuce under my small serving of meat a slice of texas toast may have made me ignore the lack of meat! I've been a fan of Blind Box for a long time. Despite one of my favorite entrees being taken off the menu (BBQ sliders), I have remained loyal. But tonight II'm questioning who has been "blind." As I often do,8 I met a friend for dinner tonight. We arrived at 5 pm and began with a couple drinks before ordering dinner. When I inquired about happy hour drink specials, I was told that regular margaritas were not part of the $7 HH price, so I indicated I would try the Rosado margarita for $7. When it arrived, I couldn't tell what was different than a regular margarita, but I didn't complain. Imagine my surprise when the bill arrives and I find out that I was charged for three $11 margaritas instead of $7 margaritas -- and then discover there was an additional $6 "mystery charge" on top of the $33. When I inquired, our server said he "misunderstood" and had been ordering me the regular $11 version. He was kind enough to ask the manager about the $6 line item that had no explanation on the bill ... and the answer was that there is a $2/drink charge for the "mix." What?! If you're going to charge $13 for a 12 oz drink, just say so! Don't disguise it as an $11 drink and assume people won't notice the extra $6 on their bill!! This is the most underhanded practice I have seen in a long time -- and that's the thanks I get for my loyalty to locally owned restaurants! I could get the same size/quality margarita at Jose Peppers for $5! I feel ripped off and will boycott Blind Box in the future for this shady practice. if you choose to frequent this establishment, pay careful attention to your bill or you may be ripped off as well. read more

I asked for a Cocktail which shouldn't have been a problem except that the Bartender was too occupied entering to-go orders into the POS system. She claimed she would make my drink when she was done entering the orders but she decided to stand behind the bar and do nothing instead. That's when I decided to walk out. Kansas City is a city FULL of options for great BBQ. I had heard great things about Blind Box so two friends and I decided to give it a try. The restaurant itself is nice and clean. The wait staff was very attentive and kind. But the food was... just okay! I'm not a BBQ snob at all but just saying there are definitely better options in KC. We tried a few appetizers, the BBQ wontons and BBQ chips which were both very good and affordable! The corn bake was very good as well. My friend had ribs which were a tad bit on the dry side and I had the Carolina Q. We all agreed the fries weren't the best, I would opt for another side instead next time. Dessert was very good as well. Not a bad place if you're already in the area. I will probably give it a second try. read more

Our first time here and it was awesome! Andrew J. was our waiter & also the bartender. He made some incredible drinks. The Smokin' Revolver & Butterfly Sting. Both so good! We had several of the Happy Hour menu items. The BBQ wontons, amazing. The Dos Carnitas tacos were incredible! And the BBQ Chips and queso were mind-blowing. Definitely come check this place out.
