I went to the one in LA several times and had a good experience. I'll go back. So I keep trying the New York branches. Mistake. I've been a couple of times to Bliss 57. Today I went to the one in SoHo for the first time. I've found the technicians to be good at what they do, but for the most part the staff in these NY branches, especially SoHo, mean-spirited and rude. What's up with that? This place peaked about 5 years ago and now it's gone downhill. Nothing felt kept up. Things were broken. Had a massage which was good but it was in a scrub treatment room with a huge shower thingy standing over us. The person apologized but then almost tripped over something mid massage. No one showed me around or gave me a robe, I had to ask if there were even showers. The walls were also paper thin so I listened to 75 minutes of spa music but the boy band music on the other side of the wall was even louder and you could hear everything going on outside the room. When I did find the shower the faucets had missing pieces and I could have braided the hair that was over the drain. Massage therapist was nice and did a good job. I wrote for her not to massage my head on preference sheet. That was completely ignored. Also the water for tea was about room temperature. Weird. Probably won't be going back. This is my go-to spot for happiness. Tucked away in a building on broadway, bliss is my favorite spot for a treat or for much needed maintenance. I've had incredible massages where I walk in limping and walk out gliding... almost painless waxing... Seriously, who looks forward to that? Truly a trauma free experience.. I had a gift card, and instead of a usual mani/eyebrow wax, I decided to get a facial. It was my first one (probably my first time at a real spa, actually), so I had no idea what to expect. I scheduled the "No Zit Sherlock" even though my skin isn't that bad (or so I thought). I walked out feeling vaguely pulverized. I don't have a basis for comparison so I found the waiting room/snacks/etc experience to be lovely, but the space is cramped. My skin does look quite clear, but my main issue is with the add-ons--I'm not an idiot, but when someone says that they're going to "do this" without asking or indicating it's a price mark-up, I assume it's included. I ended up with 70 dollars in mark-ups for an already expensive facial. The gift card barely made a dent. I understand that it's business practice, but I did feel somewhat swindled after all was said and done. read more

A long time Bliss junkie who hasn' been back in a year and feels the illest withdrawal. Amazing facials and massages; it's what they're known for. Anyone who gave them 1 or 2 stars for charging $95 for a pedicure, well, that's because you're at a SPA and not a NAIL SALON. If you feel bamboozled, stop thinking you're Beyonce and going here for the basics. I love that you get a long warm robe and slippers with snacks and lemon water while you wait. The staff has always been very nice and sometimes even comp me some add-ons. Great location; unwind after some shopping ;) I LOVE their products: no cheap nonsense here, but makes my skin look and feel great. All fresh and rejuvenating scents that do not overpower. I've been to Bliss Soho, 57, 49, Hoboken, and Boston. I've tried their facials, their massages, their manis, pedis, and waxes. I've bought Bliss products. At this point, the only thing I go back for is the Brazilian wax, and mostly because it is consistent. It takes like 10 minutes and it's *relatively* painless. I know what to expect, and with something like a Brazilian, that little bit of comfort goes a long way =) The reception at most locations are awful (why the attitude? the Soho location is especially bad). The website has changed so you can't see your order or service history. You can buy discount packages (e.g. 3 waxes for 15% off) but you can't track it in your online account. To book, Bliss wants you to call a national 1800 number where half the people find it really difficult to help you book an appointment. Specifically at this location, you need to go through a security guard downstairs who will take a few minutes to create a Visitor Pass after checking your ID. For a spa. And those guys don't have great attitudes, either. Don't do the mani / pedi at Bliss in general - it's a joke how bad they are. If you're in NY, you can find better for half the price at the billion mani/pedi places. The facials are ok. The massages are average at best. Expert tip for spa services: Bliss regularly offers discounts through gilt.com. Around November/December, they also sell Bliss gift cards at a discount (which you can use for services). Finally, if you sign up for their emails, they send emails with spa service discounts too (they just had one for Halloween; in September they had one for back-to-school). read more

I keep waiting for this place to suck. I keep waiting for rudeness from the front-desk, or incompetence from the staff, or the inability to provide me with size 12 flip-flops. But no. On this trip, even the Sauna-That-Never-Works was working. Everyone was lovely and professional, especially Juno, who administered an awesome scrub/wrap/massage/vichy thing whose name escapes me. (Oh, and the Hair Dew, which I always opt for after deciding that it's unnecessary and decadent.) She was capable of chatting for a while and then leave me alone when I zoned out--and she consistently remembered to avoid a tiny cut on my ankle. The space was, as usual, clean, minimalist, and relaxed. There's still only one blow-dryer in the locker room, but I had the place to myself, so who's complaining? My only complaint is that I was put in a treatment room upstairs, which required me to walk, in my bathrobe and wackily messed-up hair, through what felt like the entire place. I was so deranged-looking that the only man in the whole shop stared at me as I passed. Got 20% off the service which was not really a discount. I've been to many bliss locations - Miami, Chicago and this was by far the worst. Went to Bliss Soho today for a facial. I have not been to this location, but have enjoyed many facials at Bliss San Francisco, especially the Triple Oxygen. I was very dissapointed with my facial today. My asthetician was Debbie (DO NOT book with Debbie). She was vary rough with my skin and the extractions were terrifying (usually you get the customary, "You doing okay?", but not this time). It was not personable, not comfortable and I was not happy. I will never go back. I usually get amazing facials at Sally Hershberger Face Place, but Tom was all booked up, so I tried something new. Bad idea. I do give one star, as the facilities are nice and I know a nicer / more professional / less harsh asthetician could perform it better. read more

Don't get me wrong, Bliss is a gorgeous spa. But it isn't worth it. I think of Bliss as a "gift card spa" I will go there if someone gives me a gift card or if I want to treat myself, but for the most part, I can get my spa treatments cheaper elsewhere. For example, it is about $35 for an eyebrow wax, if I remember correctly and it was one of the worst eyebrow waxes I have ever received. I literally looked no different when I left then when I came in, I was just $35 poorer. I now get my eyebrows done at my nail salon for $12. read more

Wow, what an experience!! First of all, I loved my carrot sesame body buff treatment with Micah! The body treatment is incredibly soothing and leaves your skin feeling silky smooth. The Vichy shower was soooo relaxing! Micah was so nice and professional and friendly. He gave me the best scalp massage while I was in the wrap portion of the treatment! He also made sure I was ok and checked in with me about the temperature of table and my comfort. He has a great soothing and comforting touch. Will def request him for my next body treatment :) After that I had a blissage 75 with Maria. She is AMAZING!! The hardest part of my day was peeling myself off the table when the massage was over. She is super skilled and knowledgeable and just an absolutely awesome therapist. Def the best massage I have had in a very long time and I have had many! Oh, Sandra. That name will always remind me of my first time. The touch of her hands made me putty. I don't think I'd ever climbed to such ecstasy before. Better than chocolate. Better than sushi. Better than... yeah. Bliss may be a giant chain, but it doesn't mean they don't do things right. At Bliss, they didn't treat me like a kid (I look young for my age), they offered me a comfy fluffy robe and snacks, plus fresh doses of their kickin' lemon and sage lotion in the bathrooms, and they let me take my time arriving and departing. Booking was a breeze. So was check-in/out. Also, the white decor showed that the place was uber clean, which is important for a spa! No massage has ever topped my first time with Sandra. I'll start off by saying I was hesitant to even go to this location based on reviews but after my experience yesterday I definitely felt the need to leave a review. I started my appointment with the 49 minute massage with Maria, upon meeting she was very friendly and very sweet. My flip flop broke as soon as I took a step to walk and she was very accommodating with getting me a new pair. Flash forward 10 minutes into the massage, she did not stop talking, literally iPhone out showing me all parts of her life. Plus, not only just talking about things in general but about her divorce and 3 engagements. Asked me maybe 4 questions about why I was there and that was it. I felt like the massage flew by because she didn't stop and I couldn't focus on anything else. With the overpriced services Bliss offer, it's slightly mind blowing that they let their employees feel free to act so carefree in such a "zen" like atmosphere. I have to say, I won't be visiting that location again and it's even sadder to say that the Hoboken location is better in service and cleanliness. read more

My Visit to bliss Spa Was Amazing! I never review anything but i couldn't let this opportunity slip by to say how awesome this place was! I felt super pampered! first i was escorted to the locker area where they had a robe and slippers waiting for me. Then i was told to go to the waiting area. I made a pit stop in the bathroom because they had samples of some of the lotions they sell. As i waited for my full body massage, i helped myself to the snacks they had out. Things like fresh cheese, crackers, brownies, cakes and cookies....so tasty. They also had an assorted tea selection and Water with Lemon. My Masseuse, Demetri, came out to get me for my full body massage and made me feel extremely comfortable. I had worked out pretty hard the day before and his massage made me feel amazing! I HIGHLY recommend Demetri and i have told my friends to see him when they visit Bliss Soho! All in all this was the perfect spa day, beautiful decor, friendly Staff, Awesome masseuse, and tasty Snacks! All girl couldn't ask for more!! read more

My experiences at Bliss Soho have been really great! I've had two amazing rapid rubs, great waxing, and long lasting manis and pedis. The service is really friendly and they don't make me feel bad for not wanting the tough skin on my feet removed like some salons do (I work hard not to get blisters!). I went their with a bride-to-be and even though we didn't get the wedding specific treatment, they kept congratulating her because we mentioned she was about to be married. This was really special! Sometimes the service is a little slow and they double book their manicures so you have to wait even though you have an appointment -- and that stinks. They are definitely pushy on the products -- however, their sugar exfoliating cream might be worth it! read more

She texted me immediately after to complain about how terrible her wax was. I've been coming to Bliss Soho for about 12 years and they have, in my estimation, steadily declined in terms of quality of service, but I stayed because the two women I booked appointments with were great. They both left in the last year or so and I saw a couple other people after that, including Marina, who weren't great. The worst and most expensive manicure/pedicure Ive ever had. You can't possibly try to sell me up when its already really expensive. They charged 96$ for both the mani and pedi!! Are you serious? It should at least be a good one. The nail polish was old and clumpy, she missed like half of my nails then went over it when I pointed it out, while it was still wet so it became worse. I've been a Bliss follower for years and my last visit to the Soho location was kind of sad. It's changed somewhat, and its lost some of its nice touches that I used to rely on them for. I visited this location two weeks ago and treated a treated my girlfriend to a facial too. Instead of a water bottle upon check-in, I was handed a flimsy plastic cup with tap water. I thought this was a big downer. They were cheerful enough but I felt like it was what a regular spa would do. The lounge area was beautiful as always, so this was a sigh of relief. Clean and well-kept. They have good magazines that are well-kept and aren't soggy looking. The blondie brownies were there, but somehow, they tasted different this time. Maybe drier than usual? Maybe I happened to pick up on the old batch of brownies. Jumping into my treatment, I went into my facial appointment. My facialist was kind enough and conducted a fair analysis of my skin's conditions. She recommended some upgrades, which were quite pricey. I decided to stick with the normal regimen but she did give me a little bit of attitude about it. Forgiveable, as some other spas do this too. The worst bit about this experience was the noise. The first thing that I noticed when Iay down for my appointment was the banging machinery noise. It was so loud that the treatment room noise was drowned out by the monotonous yet disruptive noise. I tried to hint to the aesthetician that it bothered me and I asked, 'What is that loud noise?' And her response was, 'Sorry, that's the clothes-washing machine'. And then she changed the subject. I found this bit to be really disturbing. I mean, if I was getting a less expensive facial in say, some hole-in-the-wall in Chinatown, I could really subject myself to this. But to think that this supposedly first-rate spa is acting like a hole-in-the-wall spa? This was quite unexpected. Besides that, the rest of the facial was standard. The noise continued for the entire treatment. Afterwards, I went to look for the steam shower. Strangely enough, I opened the door and I saw an entire junk closet with cleaning supplies, rags, and other maintenance stuff. Gross. After asking a staff member about it, she told me that I had to go downstairs, through the public area, to get to the shower. Which pretty much means that when I'm done with my steam shower, I will be dripping everywhere and will have to walk through the manicure and public areas in my wet robe. Not every comfortable. Upon checkout, the clerk asked about my treatment. I did express my discomfort about the noise in the most polite way possible, as I didn't want the other clients to hear me. After signing my bill, she said that she was going to give me some deluxe and full-size pieces from La Mer to say 'sorry' for the experience. I didn't expect this, but thanked her. However, when I arrived home and inspected the small bag she had given me, there were a bunch of tiny, strange samples. I had spent over $300 here that afternoon and did not leave with a good feeling in my stomach. I'm giving it two stars because I'm glad that they have a real lounge and that they have shower amenities. ( I can't stand it when spas don't have these two things. ) Somehow, I felt the whole experience was disappointing. I've been to the DC, Dallas, Boston, LA, Lexington Ave, 57, and SF locations, but I'm not sure if I can proudly say I'm a Bliss fan anymore. I suppose I will give it one more shot but if it's going to fall behind again, I'm going to have to find a new spot. It certainly helps if you are given a gift certificate, otherwise this gets pricey. So, I was in fact given a gift certificate and finally made my first trip. Funny thing though, I have heard so much about this place that I have given gift certificate of my own to friends, just never had the chance to go myself until very recently. I really like the fact that you can book your appointment/massage online. As much as I love talking to people and spending hours on the phone, booking online is just easier. For my first visit, however, I didn't have too much advance time, so I decided to call instead and book whatever is available for a specific time frame the next day. The customer service rep was very helpful and I had an appointment within minutes. Yey, I'm finally trying Bliss Spa, I yelled to myself. The spa is located in a commercial/residential building with security, so be ready to fork over your ID and sign in. Then take the elevator to the Spa. I love the blue they have in the lobby/front desk area. Just simply love that color, it is soothing, so it is perfect for a spa. I checked in quickly and was shown the way to the changing area and lounge area. I think they do a good job with booking appointments so that there's not that many people together at any given time, so you can change without worrying that your bra will fall off (if you're the shy kind). The lounge is light and serene with lots of sitting space, magazines and of course refreshments and even snacks. Although I just opted for a glass of water. The simpler the better was my motto of the day. My masseuse came out promptly and ushered me into the massage room. We had a quick chat and he let me change. I really appreciated the fact that he wasn't the chatty type, or at least even if he was he saw that I wasn't and so he just let me relax in silence. I had the 75 minute special (Thanks for the gift cert friends!) and it was great. The massage therapist did not let any knot remain untwisted. After the time was up, I robed, dressed, paid and was off on my merry way to my next "My day off" activity. Thanks Bliss! read more

Went to Bliss Soho today for the first time & initially I was very impressed...The staff were very helpful and friendly. I had some trouble with the sauna & someone came promptly to help me. I love the decor, and how well stocked the bathroom was. They had everything from q-tips to tampons, even spray on deodorant! I was disappointed with there so called ''famous brownie bar''. They had these bite sized brownies, cookies, cheese & crackers, and lemon water in the lounge. The cookies were nasty and the brownies were nothing to brag about. I think some fresh fruit would have been better. In the lounge I sat by the floor to ceiling window to people watch, when I pulled back the shade there were several mouse traps & DROPPINGS! That kinda killed the lounge experience for me. I had the Blissage-49 with Kristina, LOVED her! She was very respectful and listened to what I needed. She made me feel very comfortable and those tiny hands are magic. If I ever go back I will definitely request her again. I also had the hot cream manicure, very disappointed. I walked away feeling like I could have saved myself $25 + tax and did my own nails. The website describes it as a ''detail driven manicure'' that was supposed to be 30min. Well she did it in 10 & then left me sitting at her table. The ONLY thing she did differently was put my hands in plastic bags filled w/ hot cream(which was nice). Right off the bat I got the vibe that she was tired & wasn't feeling it today. Which I understand, BUT I paid for a service & spa experience and expect to get my moneys worth. I won't give her name out of respect, but I will probably never get a mani from Bliss again. All in all I would say Bliss-Soho is a pretty good Spa but I know there are better out there. read more

I pretty much had the best experience ever here today. OK, let me preface by saying, I'm not a "spa" person. I say that as in, i love the experience, i do not often find myself financially able to treat myself to many of these treatments. So, I don't have a ton of spa experience to compare to or criticize against. But, today I went to Bliss Soho for the Rhythm and Bliss 75 min massage and the oxygen blast 30 min facial, because both were my Christmas gift from my boyfriend (who pretty much wins best boyfriend of the universe). When I arrived, it was easy to check in under his name and have it changed to mine once I explained it was a gift. I easily changed in the locker room ,secured my stuff, and was ready to go. I only waited 5 minutes in the lounge as Allegra, the one doing the massage, was ready to go. LOVED her. She was super friendly, funny, and explained everything to me as it was my first time there. I chose the World music out of my four music choices, slipped on the noise cancelling headphones, and had the most amazing full body massage. I told her I needed some focus on my shoulders because that's usually where I have the most pain and she definitely gave them attention! Afterwards she led me upstairs for my facial, where there was a second lounge that offered lemon water and some small bite sized brownies, cheese and crackers, etc. I waited....maybe a little more than 5 minutes for Sybil to come in and do my facial. It felt pretty amazing (i've never had a facial before!) and she said the oxygen blast one is a good choice for first timers as the peel is pretty simple and there are no extractions. My face is still glowing and she said to expect those results for 2-3 days. And, since Sybil knew it was my first experience here, she led me all the way back down to the locker rooms so I wouldn't get lost. Everyone was super friendly and accommodating, told me how awesome my boyfriend was for gifting me these treatments (well, duh!) and no one tried to upsell anything to me, really. Allegra asked if i'd like to add on aromatherapy to my massage but I opted out and she never bothered me again. Sybil didn't push a single product on me either (she told me i had perfect skin!). So, I guess I just got the right technicians, but I did not have any bad, pushy sales experiences others did. I never treat myself... but I'm considering saving up to go back for another 75 min massage. I'll make it work, finances be damned! read more

It's Bliss; it's cookie-cutter. You know what to expect. Everything's packaged. But at the same time, they're good at what they do and it's all very professional. You're encouraged to stick around and snack, chill (er, maybe chill's the wrong word) in the steam shower, and that kind of thing. So it's a tradeoff -- everything is very much by-the-book, but it's organized and well-done. I kind of feel like I'm comparing Bliss to a high-end fast food chain, but maybe that's an apt analogy. read more

Basic Mood: Smells lovely & Lacks Warmth Basics on the Crew: The front desk staff may just stare you down prior to interacting with you! If other staff members aren't helping you there's the potential for to you be bypassed &/or genuinely ignored unless you're the one addressing them... Basically Saying: We were gifted this experience! There were no invites/gift cards or notifications about our treatment. Everything was verbal & seemed rushed. The main lobby area was under construction (which was no fault of Bliss) However, it made us feel as if we were in the wrong place for a relaxing spa treatment. Once we cleared through security & having our identifications checked we took the elevator upstairs & walked through yet another lobby area to finally arrive at our final destination! The front desk staff were polite enough however do not set the tone for your experience. If we weren't upbeat we'd assure you they would have mirrored our attitude if we presented just that to them! We were then walked to the changing area & told to choose a locker, change into the robe, & poof the young lady was gone! Luckily this wasn't our first ride on a rodeo. The rest we figured out independently as we strolled through the empty corridors to the lounge area. We filed out paperwork regarding allergies, likes, dislikes, you name it! Which was the most arduous part of the experience (in hindsight maybe this should be completed online prior to the treatment) our masseuse was patient & kind. Altogether the experience was not one to write home about & if it weren't gifted would have been a slight disappointment! *The cheese & Brownies within the lounge area were a true highlight!! * Get a morning treatment for best results! I definitely left in a massage stupor, as I was so relaxed by the time my service was over (no easy feat, as I was way overdue for a massage)! I booked a full Ultimate He-Wax (a Brazilian in vulgar parlance) and a Cheeks He-Wax (a Butt Wax in vulgar parlance), and I cannot say enough how comfortable and normal Yelena made the whole experience. She got EVERYTHING, and we had enough time to do a mini-micro-dermabrasion facial. Entire staff was gracious and welcoming. I liked the locker room and waiting area. Not worth the money! Bliss 49 is a million times better. I had a massage and a shellac manicure and for $200, I would rather have gone elsewhere. I arrived on a Monday evening and the line to check-in was so long that someone behind me actually went into the nail salon to get another worker to help out. After waiting 15 minutes to check-in, I was helped by someone who was clearly rushed and didn't greet me at all. Someone else showed me to the locker room and just left me there without explaining how to use the locks or where the waiting room, showers, or anything was located. After I asked someone to point me in the right direction, I changed and headed to the waiting room. As I sat in my thin robe, I realized that it was FREEZING! When my technician came to get me for the massage, I told her it seemed unusually cold. She said "oh yea I think the heat is broken or something." Ummm it's a cold night in December; that is a problem! The massage was ok. Technician was very nice but ignored my request about which areas to focus on and didn't give me a preference for oil or lotion, which is weird because I wrote out on the questionnaire that I have sensitive skin. At Bliss 49 they always ask and even give me scent preferences. Additionally, the technician's hands were super cold (because it was freezing) which kinda ruins it... Afterwards, I went to shower and a woman getting out of the shower told me there was no hot water. I asked someone at the front desk and they came to take a look and confirmed there was in fact no hot water. I washed up in the sink with ice cold water. My shellac manicure was good and the technician was very sweet. It was warmer in the nail area too so no complaints there. Overall, not sure why a spa wouldn't tell you upfront that they were having issues with heat and hot water. I should have had the choice to cancel and come back another day. Additionally, the facilities were dated and seemed like they were under repair. The snacks were pretty sad looking with only about 5 crackers left and a few pieces of cheese. Seems like this Bliss isn't kept up to the same standards as the other ones. I love Bliss 49 and will definitely go back there - but never, ever, again to Bliss Soho! read more

Scott gives the best massage ever. It is a lovely spa and you definitely feel pampered, but it is way overpriced. $165 for a prenatal massage is a bit extreme. If the cost were lower, not only would I go there more often, but I would also give gift certificates as presents. This was an incredible bad experience for me. I've been to this location before and got a wonderful massage and pedicure and was very pleased with the service. I decided to return because I'm a teacher that works long hours and I wanted to treat myself after a very long year. I was given Bob as a massage therapist. His touch was horrible and couldn't manage between overly soft rubbing and painful jabbing. I sat there going back and forth between waiting for it to end and hoping that he will get better. The massage felt dry and abrasive as he kept rubbing the oils off of his hands for some reason. He rushed the entire process and wouldn't listen to me when I asked him to slow down his hurried rubbing. It made me so incredibly anxious and tense. He was worried about the time and told me what he was going to do in order to fit the whole body in. He ended up getting my order wrong giving me a 49-minute massage when I had ordered a 75-minute one. Then, he realized this and backtracked and asked if I wanted to continue. I said no. It wasn't even worth it. I wanted to leave so bad. The incident didn't sit right with me because as a woman of color I take issue with white men telling me what they plan to do with my body, especially when I'm paying so much for a service. I left feeling unlisted to, more anxious than when I came in, and my neck and back hurt even more. The supervisor called me right after. She was very kind and helpful and tried very hard to rectify the situation. She ended up giving me a refund and an extra 15 minute on my next massage but regardless, the whole experience made me question ever coming back again. read more

Corporate spa at its worst. Another awful spa that I receivedd gift certificates for, at least 6 times. Once in a while there's a decent operator, but ususally not and if they are good they are gone by your next visit. All they try to do is sell product. While your lying down getting a facial or massage they are giving you a sales pitch. It's so annoying. The decor is old and worn and wasn't nice to begin with. the only good thing is the chocolate chip cookies in the waiting room. read more

DO NOT GET A PEDICURE HERE! Especially if you are over 5'6". The chairs are uncomfortable and my legs were cramped and did not fit. My back is killing me after being stuffed in this chair for an hour. I asked if we could please move the foot rest out but they do not move outwards. The woman doing my feet was really sweet and nice and she agreed, she said that a lot of people have the same problem. Even low budget nail salons have super comfy chairs. THis was the high bench sort and it just made for an awful experience. And pricey. Don't be fooled by the fancy descriptions of the treatments, I sprung for the $70 hot foot. What they don't tell you is that out of your allotted hour, they count their own preparation time (10 minutes before they even start) and your nail dry time, which is crazy. Once she began (again, 10 minutes late), she put my feet in a hot bath and walked away for 10 minutes to finish someone else's nails!! I expected at least a leg massage or something during that time. The rest was routine, as in you can get it for $30 elsewhere and be in a comfortable chair. The massage lasted less than 2 minutes, the scrub another 2. And those were the selling points. This is a fine spa for treatments - scrubs and massages. Not for nails. You do not get extra for the extra $$, despite the alluring descriptions of the treatments. read more

My review is solely on the brazilian wax from Lisa... she is amazing! very professional, really understands pain thresholds.. the wax used at bliss is amazing.. its bc its so hot that it helps .. and Lisa tries her best to ensure that she gets it done as fast as possible while also understanding that you need a moment at times.. i finished my wax in under 20 minutes.. definitely a place to go back to.. (also i have heard from friends that its not necessarily a good idea to buy the wax and do it yourself at home bc you need to find a way to keep the wax extremely hot the entire time, otherwise it just doesn't work) read more

Although the facial experience was great the front desk people were TERRIBLE... giving me wrong pricing, rolling their eyes when I said I was a member, etc. I won't be back here. No girl I know enjoys the feeling of hair being ripped from on or around her lady parts. But many of us make conscious decisions to do this to ourselves every 6 weeks or so. I do it. And it hurts. However, Bliss makes it hurt less. They claim that it's painless, but it's not. I winced a few times. But it's not THAT bad. It's the best I've had in NY so far. They use bluish colored wax with strips. I've been to a place in VA that used wax with no strips and it WAS really painless. I took off one star because the women at the reception desk do not deliver a warm reception. In fact, they are rude. (Edit - the receptionists have gotten much more friendly since my initial review, so I added a star back). And I tried calling probably 10 times before my appointment to figure out exctly where they were because I was lost, and I NEVER got through. Always went to VM. When I arrived, nobody was on the phone. 4-5 girls were behind the desk talking to each other, not on the phone. What's up with that? But I'll go back. Because it hurts less than any other salon I've been to in NYC. And that's the only reason. read more
