The flavor combination kind of made it taste like pandan if you like that. This location is usually busy so expect a little wait. There's no seating inside but there's a small seating area outside. Everything was a little too pricey for my taste. A breakfast bagel for $12 is too overpriced for a breakfast item with 3 ingredients IMO. It also hurts when coffee is over $7. read more

I was taken by (a not-so-great) surprise last time when I tried their Bee Sting latte and was shocked that it was so spicy. There is of course Boba too. Let's start with the parking lot. It's huge! I know this place is a part of the The Square shopping plaza and it was all a first for me as I have never been to this area before. You could probably park a plane in the parking lot associated with this coffee shop if you wanted to but eventually, after walking for several minutes, you get there and you're in for a treat. The place was decently busy with a few people in line in front of me, but service was quick and I only had to wait for about 5 minutes after ordering. I've been on a matcha spree lately, but I still have love for coffee. Their menu has a good mix of coffee and teas. However, as soon as I laid eyes on Vietnamese coffee, I was pretty confident I would have to go that route. They also have a blend of matcha and Vietnamese coffee, which at this point, there was no turning back for me. I had heart eyes and thought, best of both worlds! I asked the cashier if there was a possibility to adjust sweetness, but she mentioned there wasn't very much added sweetener to the beverage. It would just apply to the matcha portion since the Vietnamese coffee is blended already. With it being my first time, I decided to make no adjustments. I figured I should have the original first and then decide if it's worth making adjustments in the future. The beverage packed a strong punch of both flavor and boost of caffeine. It starts off a bit bitter from the strong roasted coffee flavor and had a sweet and smooth finish. It was a lot to take in. Blk Dot Coffee is priced a bit high I'd say, but it makes sense considering the area it's located in. I got two hot caramel macchiatos and it rang up about $12, and the cups were fairly small. It was still good, but definitely not the best considering how much it was. The workers were so sweet, and the place itself was small and very clean. This coffee spot was average at best. It is inside the Irvine Market-Place, so if you are not already in the area it's really not worth it to go visit. Nonetheless if you are already here, it is at the very least worth a try. I got a foam cold brew and it was very solid but not special. The one saving grace for this place that gave it an extra star was the caffeine. I usually do not feel the effects of coffee and it is all weak to me. However I asked for an added espresso shot, and it was wonderful. It kept me up for way longer than I would have without it. It even gave me nightmares that I almost never have. Coffee they offer here is very strong and tastes good! There can be a bit of a wait sometimes since it is located at The Spectrum but it's a good pick me up if you need some caffeine. All are very nice and strong but I think so far I actually like the seasalt coffee the most but the original vietnamese coffee coming in second. Original vietnamese coffee - VERY strong coffee taste, I love it! It's suuuper concentrated (as expected) and it's pretty sweet. They give a whole cup of ice basically but it's usually like that. I highly recommend to let the ice melt a bit to really enjoy it more because it does help! This will probably keep you up for awhile haha. Light vietnamese coffee - My boyfriend likes this one more since it doesn't feel as sweet. The flavor is pretty unique but still very strong. I'd recommend this if you like vietnamese coffee but you don't want as sweet of a drink. Seasalt coffee - The coffee is nice, strong, but not as crazy concentrated as the vietnamese coffee. The seasalt cream on top is very nice and isn't overly sweet. The drink itself is great if you want some smooth coffee that isn't as sweet compared to the vietnamese coffee. The seasalt taste is there but it's not overpowering. Overall I've liked all the drinks I've had! I have sampled the matcha drinks they have and those were only okay, the matcha taste is not really present in them. I'd highly recommend either vietnamese coffees and the seasalt coffee! Even when the ice melts you don't really feel that the drink is watered down. Staff is also pretty friendly and are open to answering your questions about their drinks. read more

Cute interior and they have a big table and a few smaller tables and ones by the wall so you can charge your devices. Let me start off and say the drinks here are delicious. I ordered the Vietnamese Coffee and didn't adjust the sugar or ice like I usually do at other coffee and milk tea shops. The taste was just right- not too milky, not too sweet, great coffee aroma. However, I received my drink with a large gap on top despite getting full ice. I can understand when coffee/tea shops leave a gap when doing less ice or no ice per their SOP, but there shouldn't be a noticeable gap when getting full ice. The picture of my coffee in front of the fountain shows about an inch wide of a gap of coffee not filled to the top (I didn't drink out of it yet). The second picture shows the amount of ice used after I almost finished my drink (slightly melted already, but still taking up quite a bit of the cup itself). I finished my Vietnamese Coffee in about 5-6 sips, which I was a little sad about since it costed over $5.00 for the smallest size. I am giving 3 stars because of this experience, which I feel could have been prevented and is more of a result of having made the drink hastily. read more

I think they go to a different location, but this location is located in the Irvine Marketplace near Veggie Grill, Pieology and Corner Bakery. At the time of my visit there was still no indoor seating, but there is a really nice outdoor seating area. While I was waiting in line I was browsing at the t-shirts they had for sale and one really caught my eye. I ended up getting a "Work Hard. Play Hard. Drink Hard" black shirt ($18.95). The material is really soft and comfy. Good for casual work out or lounging. While deciding on which drink to get, I asked if they had fancy latte art. The reason is if they did, I would get hot drink. If they did not, I would get an iced drink. They "claimed" they can do a mosaic so I ordered a large hot Spanish Latte ($5.25). Disappointingly enough the person said they messed up and gave me a drink with a heart. Sorry but this is OC. Everyone can do hearts. I should have gotten an iced drink. The drink was still good but it was a hot day and I would have preferred an iced drink over such a subpar basic design. I also has a Spicy Avocado Egg Toast ($10.75) which was even more disappointing than the lame heart. It came on thick hard tough bread. Bread hard enough to cut the roof of your mouth. The avocado was basic. Hard boiled eggs not that fresh, and I really prefer sunny side up eggs. Worst of all was the pickled onions which made everything soggy. I removed it from my toast. Not a fan. I've gone to BLKdot Coffee twice and got the VTM and Light VTM both times and I can't seem to get over how crazy sweet both of these drinks are. The VTM is almost undrinkable with how sweet it is. The light is slightly better but still ridiculously sweet. I liken it to diabetes in a cup. I don't think I can handle this sweetness again and I'm not sure how everyone else can! I think I'll stick with the breakfast banh mi and maybe a different drink if I come back. Definitely get the breakfast banh mi, that was delicious.
