This is the type of coffee shop where I come not just because it's beautiful and a coffee shop but because their food and drink are actually amazing. They have cronuts!!! And they're really good. I was skeptical of the whole concept until I tried it there. Delicious. Their Vietnamese coffee is the best I've had in orange county. They have yummy bakery options like bagels, chocolate or strawberry filled croissants. The inside of the coffee shop is also very comfortable and super cute. I love this place and will make it my new study place. read more

I've only had the VTM (vietnamese coffee) here and it is excellent. Rather sweet so I ask for them to make it less sweet. It's a great pick me up in the morning. Had a ham and cheese quiche and it wasn't that great but they were fair and took care of that for me. read more

Great coffee shop and nice area to study. It's located right next to the google building so there's fast WiFi and there are some outlets available in case you need to do a lot of work. My friend got the hot chocolate while I got the VTM. I've only tried the VTM and Thai tea, both are good. The VTM seems to be their most popular flavor and for good reason. It's sweet, but isn't overly sweet and is strong. I think the next time I come though I'll get the hot chocolate. It was really good and my friend enjoyed it. Make sure to ask for validation. Parking is in a structure and they give out one hour validation tickets read more

Come here almost everyday for their VTM coffee. Great place to study. Free wifi under Google guest and free validation for parking. We stayed till closing time and the manager gave us a free size upgrade, bagel, and salad. Nicest person ever!! read more

Wow that Vietnamese Iced Coffee has got me flying through the roof and I had it 5 hours before writing this review!! With that said, the house specialty is their Vietnamese Iced Coffee which is one the major reasons I've decided to try this place. Ask for a sample though before you dive into this caffeine-fueled concoction. It definitely wasn't the kind of iced coffee I was expecting as I've tried Vietnamese iced coffee from various places. It is on the STRONG side so beware and less on the sweet side. Me and my friend shared the strawberry croissant which was delicious!! A bit messy to eat though so make sure you don't walk out of there with powdered sugar all up in your face. Ambiance: I don't think this is the place to go if you're looking through yelp for a place to study. It's in a corporate setting so I feel like it's catered more for people who just want coffee on the go or need to relax for a bit. It's more of a place I'd meet with someone for a nice chat rather than to put in hours to study. The decor looks very DIY and they make great use of all the natural sunlight they get. Very comfortable couch to sit on and minimal seating inside, hence I don't think it's a place to stay for very long. Overall, it's a very hip place in a very corporate setting. Service: Very friendly service. They even offered us samples of the iced coffee! Parking: Park in the structure by Equinox, it's in the same building/area. They validate parking for you and I think it's an hour of free parking. Took a while for me and my friend to figure out the parking situation but once you find it, it's pretty simple. Would I go back here? Yes! Except I would probably get something less strong because i think i'm experiencing a caffeine overdose... read more

V-T-M! V-T-M! Coffee: Their Vietnamese iced coffee is a definite must try! And by "try" I mean "sample". Thank God the baristas let you try their Vietnamese coffee before committing to ordering it because their Vietnamese coffee is STRONG. I know Vietnamese coffee is suppose to be strong but theirs is on on the higher end of strong. At least they also have a lighter version of their Vietnamese coffee so if you like what you're tasting but want it at a lower notch you can go for that. I really appreciate the fact that they don't rip you off by drowning your drink with ice either! Customer service: Coffee can be bitter at times, but BLK's customer service will add sweetness to your visit! They are super friendly and helpful; they are more than welcome to validate your parking ticket for the structure next door. Validating parking tickets requires their time and effort to go across the plaza to do so, but they do it with a smile and urgency that you can't help but be really grateful. Atmosphere: The shop is surrounded by various big name business offices in a peaceful looking plaza! To be honest, I felt a under dressed going into this area in my "study" outfit when mostly everyone going in and out of the shop were at least in business casual... whoops. The inside of the shop is a nice place to study and or chit chat. I just wish the place was a bit bigger... My cousin and I were lucky to score one of the few tables to study! But BLK also has a few tables outside, so there're always those seating options too. *hint hint, nudge nudge* : I over heard from a couple of the baristas that they might try to open a second location in UCI's University Town Center?! That would be amazing if they do, and will certainly have no problem being more popular among the student body- students need their caffeine, right?! Discovered this place after visiting a buddy for a "lunch meeting" at Google. I had the VTM which was good: bold and strong yet sweet. Can't say the same for my cronut which was kinda over toasted / burnt on the top. Kind of weird set up for seating. On one side there's bar stools and a counter, the other side some tables next to a couch and coffee table. This place allows me to get my fix for a genuine cup of Vietnamese iced coffee without driving all the way to the Westminster / GG area. Make sure you ask for a parking validation ticket before leaving. read more

Why avocado toast was.... Well I can't even call it that. It had the thinnest sliver of avocado on top I felt like I was just eating toast with everything bagel season on top. Disgusting and so was my chai tea. read more

A little hard to find but it was totally worth it! Their coffee is decently priced the food is good. I'm more of a fan of their breakfast items! Park in the structure and they validate your ticket. But it was definitely a cool find. The avocado boat was definitely a huge hit at first it looked weird but when we ate it it was very scrumptious. Their sandwiches seem to be there more popular items. Service was amazing! The baristas helped us to choose what we would like to try. read more

This place is one of my regular coffee spots. It's super nice that it's also near my work! BLK is located in a business plaza right next to a Google office. This means you get you get great coffee and super fast wifi. Parking is in a parking structure that is pretty expensive per hour, but BLK validates. Just make sure to ask for them to validate or they will not give it to you. It should be noted that the there are not a lot seating locations here with only a few tables, a couch, a small counter, and a few outside seating. (5/5 Stars) BLKn'd Mojito: This is BLK's take on a mojito coffee. Compared to other mojito coffee's I really like this one. The reason being that they infuse the cream with mint so you get a strong mint flavor that compliments the coffee really well. Compared to Philz Coffee the mint is more pronounced at BLK and the serving size is also larger. However, Philz Coffee has a huge sprig of mint in their drink were as at BLK there is no huge sprig of mint in the middle of your coffee. (4/5 Stars) Cold Brew: Their cold brew is really good. A bit on the bitter side, which I personally prefer. I get mine with the seat salt cream or a bit of soy milk. Most of my friends don't like the cold brew with the sea salt cream, and funnily enough the owner doesn't either. Pokemon Go Related: There is a poke stop nearby and a gym that is easily accessible from inside BLK. read more

This was one of the most fun coffee shop adventures I ever took! I ordered a light Vietnamese iced coffee and I LOVED it. It was the perfect pick me up for my three hour lecture. The person that helped me could tell that it was my first time and gave me a free sample. My experience was brief but super enjoyable. [Parking::The parking structure was a little intense, but I believe that's because it was the end of the day and the employees of the surrounding businesses were speeding around the corners to go home. That's not the coffee shop's fault though.] I wish I knew about this place sooner! I can't wait to go back. read more

This is such a cute place! Such a pleasant surprise here in Irvine. I have been wanting to come here for quite some time. I read the reviews and expected to have a hard time finding it, but it's just to the right of Equinox if you're coming from the parking structure. I love the decor in here, and it's a really good place to work/study/catch up with a friend! The coffee is strong and woke me up for sure. I tried the sea salt coffee, which I loved. I would definitely like to come back and try other unique drinks that they have. read more

This place is in the cut and you have to pay for parking but sike they validate and hour!! Amazing everything bagels with super fluffy cream cheese. The guy with the blue eyes was very attentive and joked with us all cool like. Coffee itself was smooth. I got the Mocha and it wasn't my favorite, but would still come back for the bagel and the boy ha. My friend got the White Mocha and she loved it! They also had a large variety of milk choices, overall a good find! read more

New gem! Recently found out about this place, and I keep coming back for more. Before coming here, I had never had Vietnamese coffee before. I decided to try it since that's what they are known for. Ever since then, I've been hooked. I have also tried their iced matcha latte, and passion tea. Both are great options if you're looking for less-caffeinated drinks (because the VTM coffee is STRONG). This spot is a great place to get work done. If it gets too crowded inside, there is seating outside as well. read more

This place is a hidden gem! Located in a corporate office park adjacent to Google and Equinox, you definitely get to see that crowd roll in. A great place to people watch if you're into that like me. The atmosphere was industrial and open, with a comfy couch in one corner and metal chairs sprinkled around. There's a small patio out front with umbrellas as well. I had the Iced VTM Coffee and the Chicken Banh Mi. The coffee was pretty good and strong, as all Vietnamese coffee is. Definitely a must try. The banh mi had whole pieces of chicken in it, which probably explains the price. It's more pricey than the ones you can get down in the Bolsa. Then again, the presentation was nice- but I wouldn't order this again. There wasn't anything spectacular about it to me (then again, I might be a tough critic since I'm Vietnamese). Overall, I totally dig the vibe of BLK Coffee and will definitely be coming back. It's a great place to grab a coffee while studying/people watching. TIP: They validate parking! So you can park in the nearby structure and walk over. read more

Iced LVTM with an extra shot of espresso was good. Strong and not too sweet. 5/5 Chicken banh mi was meh. I wouldn't order again. The star was really just the bread. Light and fluffy inside, thin and crusty outside, and didn't destroy the roof of my mouth. Chicken was very soft and moist, but flavorless. I would've liked some cucumber and cilantro in the sandwich. Overpriced for what it was. 2/5 read more

I was so excited to come here because of all the high ratings! I live for coffee! However, the cashier was rude, the barista was slow, and the overall vibe was just so stuck up I wanted to run out. Came by because it was close to work and of course was kind of excited to see something Viet in the Irvine/Newport area, although youd never be able to tell by the decor or name. Tried the VTM coffee and jalapeño bagel and it was awesome! I didn't have high expectations of real Vietnamese coffee flavor because of the hipster vibe but I was pleasantly surprised. As for parking, park in the structure and they'll validate for free parking! read more

They weren't kidding about the VTM coffee. You feel the zing after a couple sips. I got the cappuccino with vanilla syrup and almond milk. Perfect cup with perfect foam. Only downside is the parking is a little confusing. We parked in the garage where they do have designated spaces for the business for 15 minutes. As long as you have he ticket validated, you're golden. Will come back when in the area. read more

not so easy to find. it's not viewable from the street. there's not a whole lot of seating. i came for the chai which was surprisingly good since i figured they specialized in coffee. chai is made from a concentrate! they do validate parking so make sure to ask! i was there for about 40 minutes and parking would've been $3.75 without validation. the vibe wasn't a "cafe" feel. it's was more industrial because there's Google right there and other businesses. overall wasn't bad though! read more

This place has really good coffee. We tried their VTM iced coffee and BLK Mojito. Their BLK Mojito is comparable to that of Philz. It's refreshing and the flavor is really good. Their VTM coffee is a little stronger than most Vietnamese coffee I tried. Overall, pretty solid coffee shop. read more

BLK Coffee is inside a plaza filled with commercial buildings so I had a bit of a hard time finding it. I'm also not sure if parking is free since I saw that there was a parking structure.. :( Other than that I think it's a great spot to study there are a few tables and it's not too loud. The coffee shop itself is very clean and modern. I studied here for about two hours and there were a lot of people coming in and out so I'm assuming it's pretty popular. I found out about this coffee shop through Yelp and thought that I'd give it a try since the ratings were pretty good. I ordered the sea salt coffee which I thought was okay.. It's not bitter and not too sweet.. definitely not something that stood out to me and something I'd specifically come back for. The prices are a bit more compared to your typical starbucks ($4.95 I think for a 16 oz). I asked the cashier for a recommendation and she says the Vietnamese coffee is popular and gave me a sample. I personally thought it was too thick and a bit too strong for my liking as I usually gravitate towards a latte. I also ordered a plain bagel which was also average and nothing REALLY special compared to anything else I've had. I'd definitely come back and give BLK Coffee another try since there are such great reviews, but as of now this is my first impression! read more

My mom and I have been doordashing endless bottles of their VTM coffee! I've been working long hours lately and this coffee keeps me up. However, I've ordered their caramel macchiato and their Spanish latte before and it was okay. One of the best places to get Vietnamese coffee outside of Vietnam! This coffee shop is located in the same plaza with Google so it makes it easy to find. They have plenty of parking due to the structure next door but it's shared with the near by offices and ticketed as well, about 1 hour for $1.75. BLK Coffee do validate with purchase so this might not be a problem for some. Once you go inside you notice it's a bit on the small side and the store front faces east so you may get blasted by the sun but they do have shade over their windows as well. Looking at their menu it seems like any other coffee shop with prices to match. The worker asked if it was my first time there and offered me a sample of their signature VTM coffee and gave a warning by claiming it's for strong coffee drinkers. I took a shot of it and felt like getting slapped on my back! So I ordered 16oz iced VTM and it took me back to my vacation to Vietnam where coffee like this was everywhere. It has an asian flavor but made for western taste buds if that makes any sense but that's what I got from the VTM. Great overall service with bomb coffee this place is worth checking out. read more

I've finally found the perfect study spot! First of all, the wifi is always great due to the shop's location right next to Google. Also, the drinks are amazing. They recommended vanilla steamer to me as a hot and non-caffeinated drink and I loved it so much. It was already at the perfect temperature when I received it and the sweetness was just right. Not to mention, the foam and drink complemented each other very well. A regular told me that their viet coffee is also exceptionally good. The BEST part about this place that elevates it above other coffee shops is the complete lack of distractions. Since the shop is located within a quiet courtyard, there is hardly any noise from oncoming traffic and when I look outside, there's nothing but office buildings. You rarely even see people walking outside. The environment really helps me concentrate. Moreover, even though the space is small, I like that they have both chairs and comfy couches so you can take your pick depending on whether you want to study or relax. P.s. Don't worry about the expensive parking because they give you vouchers. Otherwise, I think it was around $11 for 1.5 hours. read more

The coffee here is STRONG. I don't drink coffee for the caffeine ... I drink it for the taste! With that being said I had to resist gulping down my cup of sea salt coffee with almond milk because I would have gotten a huge headache. My biggest fear when I go into a coffee shop is getting coffee that is "fruity" (AKA sour)! But this place has smooth coffee that isn't bitter or sour. It's just right. I also tried my friend's LVTM (light Vietnamese coffee) and that one is fantastic! It tastes better than the coffee from Lee's Sandwiches because the condensed milk isn't trying to mask crappy coffee. read more

I also ordered their Paradise Iced Tea, which was good, but not spectacular at a paradise level in my opinion. The tri tip sandwich could have been executed in all the right ways, but the Serrano chilis were overdone and took over the sandwich. The balance was thrown off. The Serrano masked the overly chunky tri tip and my palate. If the Serrano chilis were diminished by a half or even two thirds, this would be a far better sandwich. The quality of the sesame seeded hero bus was great and I could taste it, but overshadowed by the Serranos.I could tell the cheese sauce was also well thought out and executed on its own, but again the chilis masked all that goodness. The same goes for the chunky sauteed onions, whose sweetness could have offered a nice counterpoint to the tri tip and chilis, but was overwhelmed by the chilis. This also applied to the tri tip, whose Wagyu flavor should have been at the center of this sandwich, but was pushed aside by the Serranos. You're onto a good thing with this Tri Tip and I was looking forward to enjoying it, given we don't commonly see the tri tip cut on the East Coast. When you run this special again, back off the Serranos by a considerable amount and chop the tri tip a bit more finely so one can eat it without having to eat oversized chunks. The quality is there, but the balance and execution were off. 3.4 stars

I couldn't taste any pistachio, even with some crumbles on top, and the raspberry was minimal. It was oddly sliced horizontally in half. Some people might question the price, but take a minute to smell the different beans at the counter. You'll quickly realize that not every bean smells like coffee. The tasting notes actually come through and you can tell a lot of care goes into every pour over they make. Most drinks, aside from the pour-overs, are around $4.50 to $7, which is a far greater value for what you're getting in sheer quality. There are way too many cafes these days that focus on aesthetics and end up sacrificing quality. This place feels like it's run by people who genuinely love coffee and it shows in every order. Last note: they have their system down to a tee. The wait in line may be long but once you order it's super quick to receive your order.

Their Bingsoo is too icy and is not creamy and pillowy soft like other BIngsoo shops. Their Bingsoo almost tastes like shaved ice with fruit on top. Also, the condensed milk was given to us in a small cup and wasn't mixed in the bottom layers of each bowl. So, it was icy at the bottom, all the way to the top and then some strawberries with a condensed milk drizzle, a few mochi pieces, and then we were given a small cup of the condensed milk to sweeten it up ourselves. I don't think I will be back, except if I really don't have a choice for a dessert nearby.
