I was very excited to try Block 16, because all of my friends had been raving about it. Unfortunately, I had a pretty bad experience with the restaurant. The food took forever, and when we finally got our meals, they all tasted greasy and heavy. We were pretty disappointed, but things got even worse when I got sick 15 minutes after eating. I was very disappointed with the low quality of the food and how it so negatively affected my stomach. I probably won't go back anytime soon. read more

We visited today right after it opened and there was already a line outside. I had the bacon and Brie which was delicious. I would have it again . My husband had the Croque barcon burger with seasoned fries. He said it was one of the best burgers he has had lately. Fries were great too with their sauce. The croque garcon was perhaps the best burger I've ever eaten. The duck duck goose fries were extraordinarily delicious. The local stout beer was smooth and flavorful. Only complaint/suggestion: for this kind of wonderfully messy food you eat with your hands, the restaurant truly needs much better napkins. I strongly suggest going with blue stripe bistro napkins. read more

VERY good food. super reasonable prices. great menu selection. ambiance - eh, who cares. tried the duck duck goose fries, which were great. equal parts sweet, tart, cheesy, meaty, greasy (in the best way and not overpoweringly so) and crunchy/starchy. definitely the winner of the lunch spread. also tried the croquet garcon which was excellent - the ciabatta is a little thick for the sandwich, but soft and well prepared. the lux sandwich with duck pastrami was the underperformer - a little lacking in flavor, and not much different than a regular pressed sandwich - the duck flavor didn't come through much. will definitely go back to try the poutine as well as the dinner menu. can't wait! read more

This place does gourmet street food like a pro: cheeseburger on ciabatta with chorizo and a fried egg--'nuff said. My friend introduced me to this place and now everyone downtown is buzzin' about the food. The daily specials are the bomb so I still haven't had the chance to try any fixed menu item yet. Only knock is that it gets swarmed at lunchtime so hopefully it can get another worker or two to assist with the work lunch crowd. read more

Was here Saturday for the 1st time...and WTF did I wait so long to come! I had the special....Breaded Chicken breast topped with maple bacon grits, an over easy egg and a delicious mayo sauce! It was $10.00 for a sandwich, fries and a drink. There was a bit too much of the mayonnaisey Sauce, that when combined with the runny over easy egg yolk made the sandwich a little messy to eat. Don't get me wrong it was srumcious, just a little messy. Although you place your order at the counter and take a seat and wait for you food, the staff was friendly and like able. The restaurant has a comfortable casual style, it's not very big so seating is limited, so get there early, or late after the lunch rush. read more

This place is a decent stop for vegetarians. Not a ton of options but at least you can find something other than a salad that doesn't have meat. I had the seitan gyro. It was decent, not amazing but good if you're just looking for a quick lunch at a decent price. The side salad I got came with some sort of house vinaigrette dressing which was good. This was amazing. We went for dinner, walked from the Old Market. Arrived at the restaurant at 4:40 with a line already formed. Once inside you order at the counter, super friendly staff. We waited not more than expected with 12 people ahead of us. Don't let the presentation of the food fool you, it was delicious. Burgers were moist, fries were hot. Everything had amazing flavor. My boys ordered traditional gyros, my hubby and I shared the croque garçon. We also had the poutine and the dragon fries. All very good. I had the Ace pineapple cider! If you like unique food, this is the place to go. Their grilled cheese of the day is heavenly, and their weird and wacky specials always look amazing. This place is a must go to as there is nothing like it! The line is always long, but service is quick and friendly. The vibe is a bit different since sometimes you have to share tables with other people, but it's a good mix up from the typical restaurant scene. Oh my god yes. It's rare that I can find someplace that meets my dietary restrictions (vegan and gluten free) and let me tell you-THE BLOCK VEGAN BURGER IS AMAZING!!!! Yum. We rolled into town late after a day on the road, a crabby Wisconsin family of four. Yelp guided us to a place that could serve both meat-eaters and a vegetarian. I called for carryout, expecting a wait. Ten minutes! The tempeh Dragon Wrap was perfect for the (somewhat picky) vegetarian, and we also tried the Croque Garcon (huge and meaty), the B16 Deluxe (stuffed with tender flavorful prime), the poutine (vegetarian!), and of course the Duck Duck Goose fries. Whew. Carb coma. It was hard to pick a favorite. Everything was excellent. I wish Madison had something similar. Oh, and the woman who took our carryout order was so friendly. After a hot day out at the zoo, followed by a couple of hours of downtime, my group of 5 were looking for a place to hang out, eat some good food and enjoy our evening. Block 16 delivered! The service was awesome. Maybe it has to do with being from the stuck up West Coast, but I felt immediately welcomed at Block 16. The person who took my order was nice and seemed genuinely interested in helping us out. Major plus! For food I ordered a burger and the dragon fries. The burger was yummy, a standard burger, but the fries were their own level of interesting. The sauce on them reminded me of the sauce they use of Vegas rolls, sweet, wasabi spice, maybe some mayo. It was an interesting touch. The cheese curds were good, they could have done with being a bit softer so they could be eaten more seamlessly, but overall not bad. A couple of the people with me got the nightly special, fried chicken, and lord have mercy that coating. So flavorful. That skin was some of the best fried chicken skin I've had. I will go back next time I'm in Omaha. That's for sure. read more

Not as good as the word around town or other reviews would lead you to believe. We get that you are offering things to customers they are not use to, but don't forget the basics. For example, dirty tables, thank me for my business and generous tip, fix wobbly tables, and clean up the tables during, and after the rush. read more

In town for the weekend and couldn't have found a better dinner spot to go. Hip environment, friendly staff, and most importantly great food. Small venue best for parties of 4 or less but truly the best of the Omaha scene. Farm to table is the icing on the cake. read more

The food is great but the wait was terribly long from receiving drinks, sitting down and waiting for the food to arrive was a good 25 minute wait added to the 15 minute wait outside in line to get in. This place is great! It's usually pretty crowded but it's definitely worth the wait. All the fries are really good and creative. They also have poutine which is a major plus. My daughter lives in Omaha and she and my son in law are always looking for a great burger. My son in law works downtown and eats here frequently and told me we have to try this on my next visit. The burgers are awesome !! Perfectly cooked and lots of combinations to try. The duck duck goose fries that everyone raves about are not my thing. The berry compote on top of savory ingredients is not our thing. You get this great hit of savory and then, way too big a hit of sweet on top of the savory duck and, gravy and potatoes. Place is always packed. We got there right when they opened, and it was full 15 minutes later. We love to support local businesses, and the team that runs this place are top notch. read more

I've been here a few times now and I really enjoy it! The poutine fries are very good as well as the gangsta fries, I always share them with somebody because it's a very big portion. I think I've had the chicken strips before which I think I enjoyed, nothing special, the house salad is very good, I've tried the philly sandwich which was very flavorful, and the grilled cheese special, all good and I would get all again! Next time I want to try the ruben. Today at lunch my sister ordered a side house salad with her meal and there was obviously no dressing on it from what I could see and she said it didn't taste like there was any, so she brought it up to the counter and asked for some dressing and the guy at the counter was a bit rude to her, he goes "that's the portion that comes with it, next time you have to pay extra" he gave her a small container and told her that this was how much was on it which when she poured it on to her salad was waayyy too much, there was obviously non on it to start if that is how much that should have been on it. Oh well problem solved everything was good! The dining room is very small and its always hard to don a place to sit, every time I've gone someone in our group ( usually only 2 if us) has to go sit down as soon as a table opens up and the other person has to order for them. It gets so busy it's very uncomfortable most of the time. I would like to try it when it is not so busy, but I've never had that luck even when going at 2 pm. Wow amazing! Got the duck duck goose fries, pulled pork sandwich, and dragon wrap. The fries were savory and crispy with an amazing sauce. Wish there was more sauce on the side for dipping. The pulled pork was moist but there wasn't any sauce for it. The dragon wrap was my favorite. It had a refreshing slaw that made me feel that I had summer in my mouth. It was quite packed when we went. Hopefully they'll add patio seating or expand it. And the best thing was it was the price! read more

I'm a longtime fan of your food. Tried the shaved prime rib sandwich tonight. Really disappointing! No flavor, and the beef was tough and over cooked. Would love to see you replace this on the menu with the beef short ribs you used to offer. Those were heavenly; the shaved beef is not even in the same class. What gives? read more

Loved Block 16!!! It was delicious and the duck fries are the best!!! The service is outstanding...I went with my husband and baby and called before and asked if they had high chairs. They said that they did and so we went. When we got there, they did not have any high chairs because they misunderstood what I had said on the phone. They felt terrible about it and they truly cared so they gave us a discount and I wasn't even complaining. This is my new favorite lunch spot!!!! Seriously amazing food!!! I can't wait to try it again soon...without my baby haha read more
