Finally made it over to Blooming Buns Bakery! Their original Centennial Hills location was a bit of a drive, so I was excited when they opened a spot on S. Rainbow. Walking in, there was so much to choose from cookies, donuts filled with your favorite flavors, beignets, massive cupcakes, dessert cups, brioches, and more. Honestly, I wanted it all! I tried the beignets, which come in an order of four and let you mix and match flavors. I chose Ube and Churro, and also grabbed a pistachio-filled donut. Wow... every bite felt like heaven. This place is sparsely decorated. They have the donuts displayed in the front, all looking very pretty. We ordered 17 different items from donuts to cookies to cinnamon rolls. The total cost for 17 items was a shocking $126 after tax. Are you kidding me? From $6 to $15 per item is outrageous. They looked good, but I don't feel the quality was worth the cost. I ate my Callebaut extra dark chocolate Cookiebun after we left the store. If I had eaten it in the store, I would have asked for a different item. It was very dry. I had been hearing great things about this place. I love Ube so I ordered the Ube honeycomb cheesecake doughnut. First off I was under the impression that these were supposed to be fresh made to order? I guess I didn't realize that that just means they fill them to order. Second, the doughnut was very oily around the edges like it had soaked up too much oil when frying. The ube cheesecake filling was good by itself, but when you ate it with the doughnut, you lost the ube flavor completely. And lastly, I usually like honeycomb, but the piece of honeycomb on top you could really taste the baking soda in it. There is also no prices on the menu whatsoever so paying over $7 for a single doughnut that wasn't very good is disappointing. ETA- Weird response from the owner. Yes I do bake and know the process of making honeycomb but what does that have to do with anything? read more

Finally had a chance to visit the new SW location off of Rainbow- super cute little spot it was not busy at all when I went in- ordered a few of my favs I haven't had the chance to have in a while. The pastries were all 10/10 for sure! It's a little pricey... bought 4 doughnuts for about $32, so be ready to spend. Definitely will be back but maybe in a few months. Must try- the crème brûlée, everything brioche bun, pistachio doughnut and the smores cookie bun. read more

Wow. I didn't realize a cookie costs so much. There was no menu with prices for the pastries, only drinks. I got two cookies and with normal tip, my total was $16.65. Wow. Some influencer showed this place on her reels saying they needed help bc they're on the brink of going out of business and I see why, ain't nobody is trying to spend 7 dollars on a cookie. Amazing!!! This is their second location recently opened on S Rainbow Blvd / W Russell Rd. This place has it all. The vibes, the sweets , and the best staff! Personable and engaging staff that are friendly and helpful. A cute atmosphere to enjoy your incredibly tasty specialty donuts made with brioche dough. Each donut is beautifully decorated and has carefully selected flavors - choosing one is so hard! We have tried: Dubai Chocolate Cinnabon and Pistachio Cream Donut. They are not too sweet, it's more like a light dessert, which is very different from the Italian pastries, they're more sweeter and heavier desserts. I'm so excited about this second location! I've always loved the original Blooming Buns Bakehouse, but I didn't visit often because it was so far. Now that this one is only five minutes away, it's super dangerous! This review is based on their soft opening. We ordered the cinnamon roll, chocolate chip cookie, and egg salad sandwich. My mom had the sandwich and loved it. She especially mentioned how soft and delicious the bread was. I had the cinnamon roll, which was soft, fluffy, and full of great cinnamon flavor. The icing was a little sweet for my taste, but still really good. I might ask for it on the side or go for a lighter amount next time. The chocolate chip cookie was soft and chewy, just how I like it. The service was friendly, and the space itself is a big upgrade. It is larger with more seating and has the same clean look as the original, with the iconic blue and white walls. I am definitely looking forward to coming here more often! read more

Happy to see Blooming Buns in the SW! Have been to their north location a few times. This one has a spacious area to hang out. We were greeted right away. All the desserts on display looked so good! We asked about the most popular treats and ended up getting a Pistachio Cream Brionut & Classic Cinnabun. We didn't have room for drinks but definitely will have to come back to try some! Service was friendly and quick. We took our treats to go and ended up eating in the car because we couldn't wait to try them! The Cinnabun was warm and fresh and it was so yummy! It was soft and the icing was so good. The Brionut was soft, sugary and it was generously filled with cream. It wasn't too sweet which I liked. Can't wait to come back! read more

I really hate making reviews that are negative but I love Blooming Buns so much and I really want this business to strive. I recently visited the new location on Rainbow twice now and both experiences haven't been too great. First time, I went in I got an Ube cheesecake brionut and a Mango Hibiscus tea. The honeycomb is my favorite park of the brionut and unfortunately it tasted like burnt sugar. The tea was really good though! The guy helping me at the front, I forgot his name but he had curly hair was kind of rude when I asked a simple question of whether or not they sell by half dozens or dozens. I was just trying to clarify whether or not I had to buy per piece or if there was a different price if I bought half or full dozen. He tilted his head and was like "huh what do you mean" which I was kind of taken aback cause I don't appreciate when someone makes me feel stupid over a question and there could've been so many other ways to be asked for clarification. Anyways, second time coming in i wanted to give this place a second chance cause I understand they just opened and was hoping for a better experience. I'm not the type of person to dislike a place just because of one bad experience. Like I said I LOVEEE Blooming Buns and have been going to the North location since 2022. I got a chocolate mousse brionut & 2 Ube cheesecake brionuts and I was SO sad to see the amount of filling that was in there (picture attached) for a donut to be almost $8 I expect the quality to match the price. Happy to see them finally on my side of town! These donuts are pricey but they are worth it. They're executed well and use quality ingredients. Too many places invest way too much in branding and aesthetics and charge too 8+ bucks for bleached flour and filler chocolate from Sam's Club or Walmart. The best part is they aren't too sweet. I usually can't finish an entire doughnut but this weekend I ate 3.5 of them. Easy to eat in the best way. A lot of doughnut places rely on the fillings and sugary toppings to carry the product but have flavorless and poorly executed dough base. Their dough here is also very good, try the standard glazed doughnut and you'll know what I mean. It's so important to support local business making real effort to dish out quality product. Waited over an hour for my order.....and they'll say that it's because everything is made fresh to order but then the cookies and donuts are served cold (no I'm not just talking about the cream, the whole thing is cold). Everyone else waiting for their orders were getting upset too. The worker at the counter had nothing to say and didn't even give a warning for the wait time. The owner's response to negative yelp reviews is also quite telling. You would think after all these negative reviews you would look within and try to improve your business. read more

Love this place. It's always been top experience. Food is delicious it's worth trying at least once. But you will come back. My only comment is it is a tad bit too expensive for what it is. I work in food & beverage/ customer service so it's rare that I would feel so negatively about an experience- but I walked in on a Wednesday morning for my first time. I was excited to try their ube offerings and brioche donuts- the place had maybe 5 customers in the cafe and was otherwise empty. There was no one at the register but after walking up I could hear the two employees in the back gossiping. No big deal, as long as customers get serviced- but that's where it went downhill. I stood at the counter for 10 minutes with no one coming out to help. I said hello kind of loudly to try and get the boy's attention who was in the back but that didn't work either. I then, called their # to let them know a customer was standing at the register. While I heard it ring- neither of the employees went to answer the phone, nor did they look out into the cafe to see me standing, waiting to be helped. I also wasn't the only one waiting to be serviced at this point. Not to mention the donuts are $7+ each - for high quality bakes- you HAVE to have the customer service as well.... Ignoring customers, & phone calls when it is not busy- leaves me unable to justify the price or experience. I'm not even excited for my order at this point. $25 for a drink and 2 donuts- to just be ignored. read more

Let me start with this the food is good we ordered the breakfast sandwiches and 1 coffee so three items for 24$ price is steep and a brownie is 15$ the wait is extremely long and that's the only flaw the sandwich is good but for how much your paying you'd hope for your food a little bit quicker around 4 or 5 people were there with us and the wait was around 20 ish minutes ... the place is nice and the food is good in no way am I diminishing this business but these factors play a huge role into the pricing and the quality of an item.. read more

well my wife had heard great reviews of this place and seeing that I was going to another business on Rainbow , I thought I would stop by and see what all the good reviews were about . This location is in a brand new building and they are the only occupants at this time . I walked in the door and notice about 15 different pastries on the counter (not behind glass) which had flys and Nat's crawling on allot of them . A female came from the back area and I asked her if this was all of their section and she said yes etc . I kindly thank her and left . I not sure who wrote the rave reviews of this place but I have a sinking suspicion that they are false reviews left by the owner or their friends. I would never give my business to any business with such horrible conditions and poor section of pasties . I won't be returning ......edit to response to owner : I came in there obviously more then one second and anyone in business knows the first impression is important . I saw no sign that said display only and regardless , seeing nats and Fly's crawling on your display products is an immediate turn off to a new customer and you did explain what you had , I just didn't explain word for word . You may have been in business for 5 years , but you haven't learned anything about first impressions , hence me leaving regardless of signage I may or may not have seen .
