Dropping in for dinner on a Saturday night, the place was packed with people enjoying a meal before this 20yr old vegan eatery closes for good at the end of the month. Our party of 3 got a table and settled in with a couple of appetizers: buffalo arancini + fried artichokes. The arancini were ping pong sized rice balls, chewy and lacking much of a punch, though the "bleu cheese" dipping sauce was pleasantly tangy. The fried artichokes fared better: at once crispy and tender in a tempura batter with a mustardy "aioli" and charred lemon. I did a southern seitan sandwich with sweet potato fries: fried seitan slabs + chipotle sauce + lettuce + avocado + caramelized onions. The seitan was under-seasoned, but the chipotle added some much needed zing. My girlfriend's plate of seitan marsala (seitan + sundried tomatoes + broccoli rabe + mashed potatoes + marsala sauce) was a better dish, if heavier than expected. read more

Came here after 2 years but unfortunately was not impressed this time. The menu has changed and unfortunately they have not been able to keep up with the taste. Food was quite average and not that delicious. Ordered pistachio tofu - it lacked flavor and the combination of seared tofu with root vegetable filled crepe didn't go well. What a pleasant surprise Blossom was. While making plans to visit our daughter in NYC this past weekend, I made a list of top vegan restaurants in Manhattan, and Blossom was on it. However, since our daughter lives in the East Village, and there are lots of vegan places in the area, I didn't figure we'd make it up to Blossom. As it turned out, Saturday (October 28) was a beautiful Indian Summer day -- 80 degrees and sunny -- so we decided to take a walk around Central Park. After a few hours of that, it was time to eat. And guess what? We were only a few blocks away from Blossom, so we made a beeline there. Are we glad we did! Although it was mid-afternoon by then, the brunch menu was still going, in addition to the lunch menu. Nice to have all the options. I went for a Blossom Burger with garlic fries, my wife the grilled cheese and tomato bisque, and our daughter ended up with nachos. Everything was wonderful -- we loved it. And my burger was next-level -- the BEST vegan burger I've ever eaten (and I've eaten a LOT), and one of the best burgers I've ever eaten period. Unfortunately, this business closed down as of August 25th, 2024. However, the hospitality from the bar was great. I loved that they offered a happy hour menu at the bar. Their tacos were delicious! I really wanted to try their ravioli, but the machine was down at the time. It's unfortunate that this business had to shutdown. I have been here numerous times and it never disappoints. The seitan piccata is always a favorite, their mac and cheese is amazing, and their chocolate ganache is so rich and delicious! I was meeting up with a family friend who I have not seen in five years (as she frequently reminds me). She can be a bit picky so I was grateful GF discovered this place. The menu is like a dream come true for the vegan inclined folk. There are SO MANY delicious things I never dreamed I could order like tofu Benedict and seitan piccata. To wet the old whistle, I ordered the cactus kiss with mezcal, cassis, pomegranate, lemon juice, simple syrup which was really good but it still left me tremendously jealous of GF's jalapeño margarita with jalapeño tequila, triple sec, lime juice, simple syrup because it was actually spicy unlike many other "spicy" drinks that would be spicy by baby standards. I couldn't miss my only opportunity probably in my life to have something Benedict so I ordered the tofu benedict off of their daily brunch specials with vegan hollandaise, baked tofu, vegan ham over an english muffin. It was served with roasted asparagus and rosemary potatoes. Everything was absolutely fantastic. Clean plate club all day. GF ordered the kale salad with almonds, shiitake bacon, avocado lime dressing and a side of the fried seitan cutlets and everything about this was spectacular. The kale was fresh and the dressing was creamy but not overwhelming. Don't even get me started on the seitan cutlets. I probably had at least half of hers after eating all of mine. Family friend ordered the 10 vegetable stir fry with brown rice, tofu, just egg, shiitake mushrooms, ginger, kale, Brussels, spinach, asparagus, eggplant, leeks, scallions and basil. She thought it was a little bland and asked for extra seasoning but I tried it and thought it was perfect the way it was. The food was so fantastic but I have to knock back a star for the fact that our server like completely abandoned us after our meal. We sat there with empty plates for at least 30 minutes and we really had to go above and beyond to even get his attention. For dessert we ordered the chocolate ganache which was a THICK AF chocolate cake that is hard to even eat with a spoon, you need something with an edge to cut into that. It went deliciously with the accompanying coconut ice cream and berries. We also ordered another round of drinks that would have ideally been ordered 30 minutes earlier had we been asked. Came here late night after a show at the park nearby. We ordered the lasagna, crispy artichokes, I think some fries and the tiramisu. The food came out pretty fast which I always find off putting because it makes me think the dish is microwaved or was sitting there. The artichokes were greasy and lacked much flavor. The lasagna was warm not hot, terrible. The pasta was way overcooked, the overall taste was mushy, bland and off. I took 2 bites, my husband was not hungry and took a couple bites but I couldn't stomach it and left the rest. I was very disappointed because I was pregnant with a good appetite at the time and very hungry but I couldn't stomach the meal, waste of $80+. Had a reservation for a party of 9 on a Saturday night and our food and drinks came out much more quickly than I expected. Everything was fresh and delicious-- the fried artichokes in particular were awesome. Everyone also enjoyed their cocktails, they were really creative and classy. My jackfruit tacos tasted fantastic and even though they were an app I was pretty satisfied with them as my main. One thing I would note is one of my friends ordered an entree and then asked for a side of sweet potato fries, but she was brought the stuffed curried sweet potato main by mistake in addition to her entree. The server brought it back to the kitchen and quickly returned with sweet potato fries but unfortunately we were still billed for her entree and not the fries. I didn't notice it at the time of payment so it's partially my fault but it was a little disappointing to see that later when I reviewed the bill to Venmo my friends. I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. At first they tried to place me at a table outside almost blocking the entrance when everyone came in and it just felt super uncomfortable so I asked to be moved and said I was happy to sit inside. They put me at a booth which was fine except it was dirty. The seat of the booth had food and hair and was really gross. After looking at the menu I decided I wasn't starving so decided to get the sweet potato gnocchi appetizer. It took forever to get someone over to order and I got no mushrooms cause I'm not a huge fan. The dish was amazingly delicious so glad I ordered it. To be honest I almost left after the booth was gross. If you're gonna have cloth booth seats keep them clean. It wasn't even that busy and the awful service was very disappointing. We tried the crab cake bites and jackfruit tacos as appetizers. The jackfruit tacos were better than any kind of pulled pork I've had and were seasoned so perfectly. I would have ordered another order (3 tacos) for my entree if I hadn't already ordered. The crab cake bites were good, but had nothing on the tacos. For entrees we ordered the veggie lasagna which was pretty average. I've had vegan lasagnas at other restaurants which were slightly better, so I wouldn't recommend it. However, I ordered the chicken seitan piccata and it was very delicious. Paired with a glass of red it was identical to a classic chicken dish but even more flavorful and didn't leave you feeling disgusting full. Personally, I think the menu is better at this one. The staff were friendly and getting a reservation was not particularly difficult. I really enjoyed my experience at Blossom! As a vegetarian and former vegan, I found this restaurant's menu super interesting (since it is all vegan). I thought all the dishes were very thought out. I ordered the Wild Mushroom Ravioli, Market Seitan (special offering each day), and the Seitan Piccata. The sauce for the ravioli was creamy but had a bit too strong of a mustard-y taste to it. I really enjoyed both the Seitan Piccata and the Market Seitan, although depending what flavors you are going for, there was quite a bit of difference in even the texture of the Seitan between the two dishes. Exquisite. Went here for Valentine's Day and the ambiance was spectacular. Perfect for an intimate night with the hustle of the city around you. All staff were so sweet and kind and helpful. The fully vegan menu made it easy to order. This establishment did an interesting job with creating refined and elevated dishes with all vegan options. I would recommend the pesto flatbread! The ravioli itself was a bit too thick for my liking but the truffle butter it sat in was incredible. The dessert was the most incredible part of the night with a soft and full-blown explosion of flavor in the tiramisu. The chocolate ganache was paired with a vanilla ice cream that balanced off the richness of the ganache. Since it was Valentine's Day, they even gave us chocolate covered strawberries which was an admirable touch. For drinks, the Valentine's Day special was Cupid's arrow with a vodka base - and wow! I love Blossom. Have dined religiously for years, however on the 24th of March, 2024 I enjoyed dinner which was an arugula salad with a vegan potatoes and sausage pizza. All went down well, then that evening going into the next day it all began: the hurling, heaving, while prostrated on my knees praying for respite so that I could take a breath of air before the next set of endless hurling into my toilet. If I wasn't on my knees I was bent over the toilet in horrible pain. This lasted for 36 hours or so with no sleep well an hour if that counts. Then the lethargy, the soup and crackers, moping around for 30 hours feeling like a ghost. I have lost the simple joys in life like laughing. When I laugh my lungs hurt, my sides hurt from the hurling. I have lost my appetite, and when I eat I do so because I know it is time to eat. I have lost the feeling of hunger. Hopefully it is temporarily. I had dinner tonight and I felt nauseous, my body's way of crying out in horror at the prospect of possibly going through pain again. I have lost my body's trust that I can be a good captain at shoveling safe food down my pie hole. What I can say for sure is that I won't be returning for a while because food preparation requires utmost trust, it's like carrying a baby. You can't make a mistake. read more

One of my go-to spots I usually go to with my vegan friend. We've celebrated his birthday here years ago for dinner and we definitely had a good experience here. Our waiter was wonderful. I still enjoyed lunch better than dinner here. My usual during lunch: nachos, grilled cheese, seitan sandwich, margarita pizza. The tomato soup that came with the grilled cheese was okay but I wish there was more of a tomato flavor. There are some items on their menu which I've ordered in the past that weren't my favorites but could be someone else's fave. This time I bright my family to nyc and even my kids 10,13,&14 who aren't really vegan enjoyed their food. My wife's heard from me a couple times about it so when we visited the city I promised to take her there! It didn't disappoint. We shared apps, the buffalo arinci balks with blue cheese were great and kids gobbled them up! Then we had the sweet potato gnocchi's which are incredible and would order a bowl for myself next time! My daughter couldn't stop eating them! My son had the tacos and loved them, and my wife and Iz shared a special Chik'n cordon blue with mashed potatoes, and the lasagne! The lasagna maybe best I've ever eaten! The deserts were great but the apple strudel was a stand out! Service was great, attentive servers and food was well timed as were our drinks! Dessert- tiramisu is how tiramisu should be with layers of cream and cake. The cream tastes like coconut which I didn't expect but I enjoyed. If you don't like coconut, you definitely won't like it.
