The food portions was quite large for lunch, but perhaps slightly heavy on scallions, despite me ordering scallion chicken. I requested it extra spicy and it was flavored very well but was not obnoxiously spicy. The egg roll that comes with lunch was rather small, in my opinion. But that's the thing, it takes a good chef to actually make a simple dish to taste good and authentic. Hot and sour is one of those things that can easily miss the mark of you've never tasted the real deal. Well, I can say that this restaurant have one of the best hot and sour soup I've tasted in the US. It's got just the right type of sourness and spiciness to it and I can tell that the chef wasn't trying to Americanize the dish. My family and I loved this place! The food was always so good and the customer service was always on point! Tonight changed all of that. We ordered our usual and it was delivered on time. I had the shrimp fried rice and I usually share this with my kiddos because it is a lot for just myself to eat. Well half way through eating I find a cigarette butt wrapper IN MY FOOD!! Yes that's right a cigarette butt wrapper! Seriously! and it clearly reads Marlboro... I am not even sure how something like this happens, I do not smoke and no one else in my house does either and even if I did I wouldn't put the wrapper in my own food that I am sharing with my children. Let's just say my food did not stay down. I am also 9 months pregnant and even if I wasn't this would probably make anyone no be able to keep their food down. Blue Bay filled the space that Chang's vacated recently. Somehow they even have the same phone number. We've tried this place twice and it's only mediocre. Here's the rundown: * Steamed dumplings - really good with fantastic sauce; I'm a big fan of dumplings. * Pot stickers - these are the fried version of the steamed dumplings. Avoid them! They were completely filled with oil. I had to open each one and let them drain before they were edible. * Edamame - not as fresh looking as most places but okay anyway * Orange peel beef - really good; I'd order it again for sure * Thai mango chicken - not nearly as much flavor as I'd expect from a thai or mango dish. I added some mango juice and salt at home to make it much better. * Happy family - the pork had a very weird and unpleasant taste but the rest was okay. * Beef lo mein - I usually like more flavorful/saucy dishes but this had surprisingly good flavor I will give them a couple more tries but for now they remain just average for Asian food in this area. We just went here twice after being a little too lazy to drive a block extra to United Chinese. We were amazed by the taste of the food and portions are decent. For dinner, we are looking at $20 for two entrees - which for the two of us...works well plus 3-4 meals of leftovers. One of the things that makes me choose this place over United Chinese it's bigger, nearby competition is that they actually don't try to sleight you on the meat portion which it seems many Chinese restaurants here are notorious for doing and giving you 3x more veggies compared to meat since it's cheaper. The food was cold, tasted like it came from a can/ or previously frozen, not scratch made. Do not order the sweet and sour pork, in my opinion it comes frozen and they try to reheat it. The food was good. I had the spicy Korean bowl which was a humongous bowl of food. My companion had the combo fried rice with curry. The food was hoof and plentiful. My only complaint/concern is that when they put my leftover soup in a take home container it looks like most of the meat didn't make it in. We even asked if that was all of it and she said yes. This a nice Chinese restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. My favorite menu items are the General Taos Chicken and Shrimp Lo Mein. Oh boy. I usually don't leave reviews, seriously. But I was so disappointed by this food. It wasn't the speed of the delivery (excellent) or the price (desirable) or even the guy who delivered the food (delightful!) - but the food itself was super sub par. Egg drop soup - a favorite in my house! It was barely warm, quite thick, and orange-ish - come to find out, the orange was probably because of the diced tomatoes (??!?!) in the soup. I've never had tomatoes In my egg drop soup. Now, I could just have a peasant palette, and be completely unaware of the sophisticated nature of egg drop soup, featuring tomatoes, but it's certainly not for me. Sesame chicken - my kids usually DEVOUR sesame chicken! It's their absolute favorite. Not this dish though... it was spongey and quite flavorless. They each took one very enthusiastic bite, and then both (almost simultaneously) said "I'm full". I caught both of them snagging an Uncrustable from the fridge no more than 5 minutes later. LoMein - this one hurt, because beef lo mein is my favey. The noodles were sticky, almost dry - and the whole dish was, again, almost totally flavorless. Thankfully the beef lent something, but not much. The vegetable egg rolls were very good. Very crispy, still hot and a yummy inside. A very pleasant dining experience. First time in, the service was quick and very pleasant. Crispy meat egg rolls were very light and not greasy at all. Egg drop soup had a thick tasty broth and an abundance of egg. I had the Kung Pao Beef and was impressed with how fresh the ingredients were, sauce was light and very flavorful.
