Great bar and good food! Was in for happy hour on a Monday. They have Hamm's on tap! Fried pickles are delicious, salty, dilly and crisp. The breading sticks to the pickles perfectly. We were disappointed in the Hella Totchos but only because they forgot the pulled pork that's supposed to be on it. They gave us half off that item though. Totchos are nachos but with tater tots. This place has a really fun and modern pub vibe. The service was very speedy, possibly a little too fast. The waiter brought us our bill even before my friend and I were done eating. I never experienced this before and it seemed really odd, especially because the pla was not busy at all. I had the mount blucuvious mainly because the fried avocados and cilantro lime sauce attracted me. I asked for a different cheese other than the ghost pepper cheddar but they were not very accommodating. They said that they only prepare enough fried avocados for the number of ghost pepper parties there is. This was quite frustrating but I got it anyway. It was still tasty but I didn't think there was enough sauce of avocados on it. The bacon on it however was very good. My friend go the bacon blucy but it didn't come with bacon on top which was was a disappointment. Instead the waiter said there was meant to be bacon in the center but we didn't find very much. They also put pickles on it even though it didn't say this on the menu. The cheese curds, fries and onion rings were all pretty good. I defiantly recommend getting a different sauce with the cheese curds. I'm not a fan of marinara sauce but I tried the garlic aioli, smack sauce and the merican' sauce which I thought were all pretty good. Food: I only ordered their wings with blue cheese. They were nothing extraordinary, but it fulfilled my cravings for the night and it was a very generous order (the picture was after I ate most of them. I could not wait any longer) Service: Friendly bartenders that made great suggestions for my friends. They were not too busy so they were able to hold some sort of conversation. Ambiance: Cute dinky place. Not too many people on a Friday night so we were able to pick our own tables. The reason I would prefer this over Sally's is that I am able have a conversation because it is not too loud. It is more laid back than Sally's, catered to people looking to have a relax night watching a game with a small group of friends. Misc.: I would definitely give this another go! I love coming to Blue Door Pub! It's the perfect place for dinner or late snack. When asking where can I find a yummy Juicy Lucy and a local recommend to check out Blue Door Pub. So there are three locations. This is the location, I go most frequently too. The regular menu is pretty great. As I mentioned about the Juicy Luce, they have a great variety of Blucey (Blue Door Juicy Lucy). Each location has their own speciality. So when I am not feeling for the menu, they have rotating Tatchos and Blucey. A great motivation that pushes me to get a Bluecy is the Blue Door Challenge. This is where you eat 5 pre-set blucey and 5 your choice. You get the 11th Bluecy and a shirt when you completed it. My favorite Bluecy is the frenchy blucey. As it is meat on meat on meat. So I come here mostly for late night happy hour and trivia. They offer trivia on Monday and Tuesday nights at 9pm and 10pm with Sporcle. Late night happy hour is the best! My favorite deal is 1.5 lbs wings for 8 dollars. Some sauce I would recommend trying are the rician rub and the buffalo. Blue door is an amazing place, I would recommend checking out. read more

I'm not one to usually write reviews like this but I feel I need to be honest to save a life. So we went to the Como location. We got there and there was a wait, I was rather confused because we hadn't really been greeted but we got on the list. After about 15 minutes we were seated on a high top with about 3 other groups. The table was sticky and gross as were the menus- I watched the staff not bus it completely before seating us. I got the milk and honey cider which was tasty and the cease and desist blucy with fries. The blucy was really good, I liked it a lot. We didn't have enough napkins, ketchup, etc at the table but the waitress got us them when we asked. Service was attentive to our needs. Price was little pricey but I thought worth it. I felt okay leaving and this seemed like a place I would try again for the food. However I got home and started to feel quite queasy. I was so dehydrated from all the sodium I had ingested that drinking Lake Superior couldn't stop the salt hangover that was about to come. I drank nearly a gallon of water and still felt so dehydrated from the meal I had. I am now recovering from the worst sodium hangover I have had in my life from a burger, fries and a small drink literally into the late afternoon into the next day. This could've just happened to me but I wish someone would've told me what I was getting into to avoid feeling this sick. End all If you want to check this place out I would recommend pacing yourself with a ton of water before and after the meal to avoid a catastrophic food hangover. read more

This place was everything I was hoping for: a no frills burger joint. The decor was industrial and suited the type of food being served and proximity to the U of M (the customers were mostly college kids). We started off with a couple beers, and there was a good selection of craft beers on tap. My boyfriend ordered the Cajun burger (nice & spicy for those who like heat!) and he upgraded to onion rings as his side for us to share. The onion rings were really good with the right breading-to-onion ratio. I ordered the Dinner Salad with grilled chicken to feel less guilty about indulging in a few o-rings, and I was so pleasantly surprised by this salad! The chicken was grilled perfectly and was super flavorful. Overall, I definitely see us coming back to try more of their burgers. Also, props to them for having a parking lot! read more

I have been here a few times now and I really want to love this place but I just can't. The burgers always come out more on the burnt side vs the juiciest (what I want when I want a juicy Lucy). Really great and diverse menu. I've had their juicy burgers and they were good. I love their tater tots because they're always crunchy. The fries are also good, especially the Cajun ones. I really enjoy their wings and think they have awesome flavors that aren't your traditional ones. If you like something sweet, try the maple bacon bourbon wings. There are huge bits of bacon in them with a very sweet maple syrup bourbon sauce. The samurai is also good if you want a little taste of Asian mixed into American wings. Definitely would recommend. They're also great to order from, especially on game night when you plan on watching the game from home! read more

I love this place! From the nice, pub atmosphere to the service to the delicious burgers it is all good! I came here on a Saturday around 5:30pm with 2 other friends. We got seated immediately and asked to sit at the bar. Our service was great with the bartender checking in on us and taking our orders. We started out with fried pickles and Cajun tots. The Cajun tots were so delicious that I couldn't stop eating them! You get very good portions for the appetizers and was more than plenty for 3 of us to split. I ordered the Mount Blucuvious burger that had: ghost pepper cheese, fried avocado, bacon coated in spicy dry rub and creamy cilantro lime sauce. So, I have ordered "spicy" burgers in the past and not really felt like they were even that spicy - let me tell you, THIS ONE IS. Good spice though! The flavor was so good and the ghost pepper cheese oozing out was delicious. If you can't handle spice, I would NOT recommend! For the spice lovers, go for it! I am glad I tried it! I love that this place has a casual, laidback feel but is still well decorated, has great service, and offers a variety of unique burgers. Great spot when you just want to grab a bite and a beer. If you come here please try their wings, they are definitely the most underrated boneless wings you'll ever eat. Sweet Chili Lime is always a great option, and don't let the $12 price tag dissuade you, they give you 1.5lbs of chicken so it's definitely worth it. Always get the Cajun tots. Always. If you're not in the mood for wings, and love tots as much as I do go for the hella totchos or one of their rotating totcho flavors. You will not be disappointed. The first time I went to a Blue Door Pub, it was at the St. Paul location and the burgers were solid. I was pretty excited that one was coming so close to the University of Minnesota campus. The burgers vary at each location so what you find at the St. Paul location may not be available at this location. Nonetheless, they have quite unique burgers that you likely haven't heard of or tried elsewhere. I've came here about 2-3 times. I'm a big mushroom person and usually scan the menu for a mushroom and swiss burger. The closest burger this place has to this is the NeuFrenchy burger, described as "Swiss cheese, prime rib, mushrooms, Swiss mornay sauce & onion jam with a side of au jus". This is what I usually get. It's not bad, but I also don't think it's amazing. Just to clarify, it comes with hamburger meat with prime rib on top, so it's a lot of meat on a burger. The prime rib is usually a bit too dry for my preferences. The onion jam and mornay sauce is sweet which adds an interesting touch to the burger. In general, I feel like this place is a hit or miss. Sometimes I come here and the food is amazing and other times I come here and the service is super slow and food is cold. One thing to note though, if you are one of those people that like your burgers rare or as close to rare as possible, this place can barely accommodate. Because they are "Blucy's", the cheese is inside and they cook it to a "medium" so the cheese can melt. If you request it to be any more rare than medium, they always warn you that the cheese inside won't be melted but even if you say that's fine, it usually still comes out "medium". On the bad days, the burgers are pretty dry and the cheese inside is cold. Also, I really fell in love with the cajun tots at the St. Paul location and I find that the tots here just don't compare. They're not quite as crunchy nor cajun-y as the St. Paul location (tots are not included with each burger order, it's an additional $3). Last, I would avoid this place on any game days. Because it's so close to campus, it's definitely a hot spot on these days. I came here on a hockey day and had to wait 1.5 hours just to be seated. After putting in our orders, we waited another hour to get our food which was cold. I'm not sure if they just don't have enough waiters/cooks, but on their busy days, the service isn't the best. I am surprised there are so few reviews of this place but I am happy to give a great review because this place never fails to make me happy. I got the nacho totchos and a mix of the wings (sweet chili lime and samurai). Both wing flavors were so good. I had a craving for wings and this filled that void in my heart. The nachos were quite cheesy but I wish they had more flavor. It did not lack items but just a bold flavor like everything else there. It would have been great to get the tots sauced in something and than put everything on top of them, I am going to ask for that next time I think. I was really excited to try this place out. We arrived and saw that it was busy and decided to wait at the bar with a drink while we waited for a table to open up. As seats at the bar opened up, we took them and sat there mulling over which apps we would order. While sitting there the hostess came up and said we had to leave the bar beacuse he had people that wanted to eat there. I have never been asked to leave a bar seat as they are usually first come first serve. IM PISSED. The bartender even asked if I still want to order an app to eat while our group went back to STANDING by the front door. None of the other bar drinkers were asked to leave as none of them had food in front of them. That left a bad taste in my mouth. Thankfully we continued to wait for our table and had an amazing server Sarah. The food was great and we left with stuffed bellies. Im leaving it as a 3 because it started bad and ended great and was a conflicting visit with some lacking communication. My fiance and I went here on a Saturday night before seeing a show in St. Paul. We arrived about 6:30 and they told us it would be a 30 minute wait. It ended up being a 50 minute wait, and that was very annoying to us. We had plenty of time before our show, but an update on the extended wait time would have been nice. They did ask if we wanted to sit at the bar and be served earlier, but we denied the offer. They do not take reservations and there's not much seating, so give yourself plenty of time if you're going at a peak dine-out time like we did. Once we got seated, the service was fantastic and the food was so great! We got totchos (good, but nothing outstanding - pretty much what you'd expect). Just ok. Came here tonight for a burger and a salad (we split both) and both agree they were each sub par to several other places we have eaten. To start, the hamburger bun was tasteless, and soggy. I love the crisp, buttery buns other places offer. The hamburger was ordered medium well, and it came out well done. The extra toppings were a nice touch. The hamburger itself was thin, not very plump, and was very ordinary tasting. I've had much better and more interesting burgers at other places. The salad was interesting. I never care for salads where the ingredients make a dramatic presentation, versus a functional way to eat them in an easy fashion. One of the main reasons we ordered the salad is because it was advertised with watermelon, and there wasn't amy watermelon on the salad. The lemon poppy seed dressing was a very sweet vinaigrette type dressing, which was a strange consistency. The goat cheese were 2 balls rolled in crushed pistachios, which is weird on a salad. The radishes and pears were a pretty presentation, but were over sized snd odd to eat. The staff were friendly, and I liked the vintage interior. Would I return? No! First time here and have to say it was good! Love the atmosphere and the food was decent. We went for lunch and sat at the bar. Bartender was great and very personable. Started with cheese curds and they were delicious! Both of our burgers were tasty. We did the build your own. Only thing we had that neither of us liked was the onion rings. Very doughy and undercooked. Only had a bite. Thank goodness for those earlier consumed cheese curds! Didn't have any wine or beer, but did look at the wine menu and was impressed with options.
