The service here is terrible. Prior to leaving this review I read a few others regarding service and I definitely couldn't agree more with them. We sat out on the patio which it seems that the servers tend to forget to check on the patio customers as we noticed other tables were having issues as well. 1. When we requested the kids menu which was not given to us previously by the hostess. Our server continuously kept forgetting to bring it to our table, but then would ask us if we were ready to order. 2. We ordered our drinks and no straws were provided. We had to ask her to bring out some straws, which never came out until our food came. My kids drinks came with a lid so I ended up taking it off and holding it for them to drink without spilling. 3. We ordered an appetizer which was nachos, before she would write down our appetizer, she wanted to inform us that all appetizers will come out at the same time as our food. We told her ok that's no big deal. 4. The nacho appetizer never came out, and since she never returned back to our table after giving us our food to check in/refill water we could not inquire about it. 5. We were given our food and no silverware to eat with until when she came back 5 minutes later to bring it out, she made a joke about how sad we looked sitting there just staring at our food. 6. She just never came back, I could see her here and there checking a table inside. After we finished our food we sat, and sat, and sat. Just waiting for her to come to check on us. I wanted to order a dessert and did not get the opportunity to do so. My husband wanted another corona, and he couldn't get one. We had waited so long that I decided to go in and physically track her down. To my surprise they were not busy inside, only a few tables had people at them. I couldn't locate her so I informed the host that I'm read to go and need my check. She finally came with the check 15 minutes later after inquiring with the host. My husband and I had joked that we could probably just leave and they would never know (not that we would, but that's how bad it was). But in reality we felt like a hostage there, we just wanted to leave. I do want to mention that Blue Mesa was significantly the least busy place and all of the other restaurants at the boardwalk were jammed packed! They really need to get it together, because the poor service seems to be ongoing. Wondering if management is even present at the restaurant or if they have their staff running it by themselves. read more

I attended a brunch event and the area we were in with the bar was crowded. It was a challenge to place a food order. As a gastric sleeve patient I'm not able to take advantage of a buffet and paying over $20 for food I cannot physically eat a full plate is not financially sound for me. I had to check with the bartender who was our group server for my food once I was able to place my order. I ordered the chicken burrito bowl. The flavor was great, experience would've been better if my food was hot. From scanning the room alcoholic drinks seemed to be the way to go. read more

Giving two starts just because the first experience was so great here. Unfortunately the second time in was disappointing. Me and my girlfriend walked in on a rainy thursday to find literally 5 employees huddled around a pos station and 1 table in the restaurant. We walked half way into the restaurant confused if they were even open, i made eye contact with one of the employees standing there and asked if it was open seating, he replied the bar is, but not the tables. We sat down at the bar considering nobody offered us a table and then all 5 employees went in different directions and nobody greeted us or started us off. We felt awkward sitting there at this point and after a minute we decided to go elsewhere because it seemed like we were not welcomed there. Will not be returning for a 3rd visit. read more

Blue Mesa grill is located in the Legacy area on Dallas Parkway. Ambience: it has a sports bar ambience and is there is ample seating indoors and outdoor (although we avoided outdoors due to the hot Dallas summers). The bar area is decent, nothing great though (the blue appearance looks cool). Food: they have a wide selection of food and drinks based on the Tex-mex options. Margaritas are their most popular off the drinks menu. I did not see any sangrias, that I was hoping for. Their food options are decent. I had their chicken enchiladas - it was very soft and tasty. The chips & salsa were just OK. The salsa appeared as if it wasn't fresh. Service: fast service as the food and drinks were served very quickly. The waitress was a bit inexperienced though. This place had the BEST all you can eat brunch I have ever had. The service lacked, the waitress had to be asked to pick up the plates and glasses. She never once asked if we needed refills, we had to hunt her down for a refill, and she was never very friendly like she didn't want to be there. We STILL tipped her well even though the tip should have went to the chef. The whipped cream was the best I ever had. I disliked the ambiance due to limited seating and crowding but overall I came for the food that did NOT disappoint. My wife and I had our first date at the Blue Mesa in Addison 34 years ago. It has always been a mainstay and a place you could rely on, enjoy and reminisce. After tonight's poor service at the restaurant near Legacy, the lackluster wait staff and the poorly prepared food, it pains me to say, never again. Commenting on Wednesday lunch buffet $13. First it's a great deal I think... but I like Tex mex / taco type things. And most of all guacamole. There's salad (saw at least 2 options), dessert, enchiladas, taco station (brisket, pulled pork, chicken), adobe pie, grilled veggies, rice, salmon. I actually did not try the dessert bar... but it looked good. The salmon was eh, but I wasn't expecting anything TOO great for a buffet. I mainly liked the taco station meats and guacamole. I have a service dog for mobility and went to brunch. Was told we had to sit outside. I politely advised his status and she said she had to check if it was OK. We were left standing for 5 minutes and when she came back...a big deal was made as to where she "could put us as we needed to be out of the way." Fun place to eat at Granite Park. Get the Texas Toothpicks! Delicious queso, meats, and flatbread. Absolutely my favorite thing I ate here. The drinks were decent as well. Where do I start? Nice establishment clean well taken care of! Went there with a group of eight guys, since Happy Hour was ending at 6pm my buddy Al got there early to take advantage of the unlimited Quesadilla offer. When we got there, he had four plates of Quesadilla's waiting for us Wow I thought this was great! I wasn't really that hungry in the first place, so I ordered for starters a glass of lemonade. Two other guys ordered entrées from the menu, me and another guy ordered tortilla soup, We both ordered cups, however when our orders came, the waiter served me a bowl and my friend a cup. I was confused and thought he had mistakenly switched out our orders. Well I said to myself no big deal, I just let it go! When the bills came, my eyes came put off my head. For a bowl of soup and a Lemonade my tab was $24 dollars. That bowl of Soup was $9 bucks, the Lemonade was $3.85, there was an additional $5 stuck on my bill and about a $4 tax applied! I became unglued. I asked for the manager and asked how in there hell could a Lemonade and a bowl of Soup be $25 dollars? He said that he saw me eating some quesadillas, and others eating quesadillas, so he charged each person five dollars on their bills. Everybody became instantly mad, which then he removed the five dollars from each of our bills. Then all of us noticed that he put a 20% gratuity on each of our bills, so we asked what's the deal with that? He stated on a table that has over five people, that they have the right to tack on a 20% gratuity. I said that's absurd, so you determine how much we pay on tips, take it off, which he did. The Manager is a moron, because he's basically was trying to strong arm is , into paying a 20% tip, and paying extra for items on the Happy Hour menu. The actions that he took, basically guarantees him losing eight customers, that with a stupid move, he would've done better not being petty on a few quesadillas and a bowl of soup, that he made a mistake on in the first place, being that I didn't order a bowl of soup, I ordered a cup of soup, and the difference between the two was five dollars versus nine dollars, if I knew that bowl of soup was gonna be nine dollars, I would have immediately told him to take it back! I didn't even eat all, the soup was so sour, I couldn't eat it all, I ate a quarter of it, it had two limes slices in it, instead of tasting like tortilla soup it tasted like lime soup! Needless to say we won't be ever coming back to this place. Sad stupid and true! The Manager is a Moron you don't treat customers like common criminals even if they are trying to get over on a few 50 cent quesadillas! If you are that hard up, you won't be in businesses long. Ok here is my review. I like the whole area where Blue Mesa is located. I arrived early since I was DeeJaying a private event here tonight. The Host greeted me and told me they would be closing for a private event, but were still serving all guest up and till that time, perfect communication with the public. I informed her I was the Dj and she smiled and showed me where I was to setup at. Bar has a cool lay out. Long Bar with alot of stool, a very large center table lots of stools. Then a long bench sear that runs the length of the bar with multiple length size tables with chairs, that can be mixed up for couples and groups. Staff was very professional and accommodating. We rearranged a few tables to accommodate my dj setup. Ok for my early dinner. The Fajitas are very tasty and nice size portions. Chicken was seasoned nice and very moist. Steak was very tender and tasty. Meal came with the normal refried beans and perfectly fluffed rice and toppings. Gonna make a return visit, they have a Brunch that is said to be pretty good. read more

Very disappointed in today's Brunch. Very scaled down menu. No beef fajita meat, no bacon, no eggs benedict. Service was slow. Menu price does not reflect the foid being offered. We use to love Blue Mesa and had no issue with the pricing, but felt that the price for the brunch that is now being offered is way over charging. I loved their brunch items, they had mini waffles with homemade whipping cream and hot syrup, omelette bar made to order, biscuits and gravy, brisket, fruits, salads and lots of yummy desserts. I never ate anything here but the buffer because it is so good. There's so many things to choose from and all of it is really food. Mimosas are also included in the buffet price so it really well priced for all of this and quality food. I did eat there recently and a little girl was throwing up right by our table. We asked to move, the waiter said okay but we wouldn't be in his section. The waitress at the section acted as though we were intruding by sitting in her area away from the throw up. We have ate there Our waiter did come to our table later and finish serving us. We have had that waitress a previous time and she seemed rude and like she didn't like her job, but most of the time the service is good there. read more

I hate to write this but it must be done. Back in the day Blue Mesa was a special place for special occasions. You put on your Sunday best and it was a treat to all. Fast forward today...and its just another Mexican restaurant that you should pass on. Where do we start...the filth. It was everywhere. I could not believe the dust on the picture frames, the seats were so nasty I was about to get up and walk out but I keep thinking of the old days. The booth had a hole in it from a gun shot. Ok, maybe it was just a torn off button. Walls dirty, floor molding broken. I could not believe my eyes. It was like being in a shopping center hole in the wall Mex place. This place should be shut down. Food...fajitas was nothing. The beef was so tough I had trouble cutting it with my teeth! Queso...close to zero taste. I was charged extra for another round of tortillas. What? the tortillas were the size of a small street taco. That is why I asked for more. The cost of the food was decent but then again...the quality was so poor. My wife and I are disappointed....I cannot believe I am going to say this.....we will never go back. read more

This was our first time eating at Blue Mesa Grill. We were with a large gathering of about 40 people. The servers were excellent, nice, and friendly. The food was delicious. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the chips, salsa, and queso were on the buffet line. We were provided very small plates that only held about four chips before they started falling off. It would have been much, much nicer to have chips and salsa on the tables. Instead, the chips became mushy really quickly since you had to spoon the sauce over the chips on the little plate while in line. I'd definitely go back to Blue Mesa to see how everything is without being in a large group. read more
