The food at Blue Mesa Grill is simply outstanding. They specialize in southwestern cuisine, which means that you can expect to find an incredible range of flavors and spices in each and every dish. I usually go during their Bruch hours, meaning you get unlimited food out of the Buffet. Some of my personal favorites include the grilled steak fajitas, the blackened salmon, and the roasted vegetable enchiladas. The staff is always happy to make recommendations or answer any questions you may have. They are attentive without being intrusive, and are always there to make sure that you have everything you need to enjoy your meal. I didn't enjoy my experience at this restaurant. Our table wasn't set when we arrived. I was with a group from a local corporation. It took about 20 to 30 mins for a waitress to come to our table. Our chips were stale and there was only one bowl of chips placed on our table for 9 people. The bowl of chips we had were also all ends. The food wasn't good. Ate here with a small group during happy hour on a weeknight. My wife & I each had "pick two" combination tacos. I had poblano steak and grilled shrimp. Served hot. Very tasty. Although there weren't very many people there, the service was a bit slow. Wife said her margarita was the worst she's ever had - very strange disgusting taste. Stellar service from start to finish, an excellent variety of foods for any palette, and a beautiful outdoor patio and atmosphere! My mama chose this particular location as it was close to church and even on the busiest of Easter Sundays they accommodated the two of us. I would however recommend making a reservation and making one early if you are serious about your Sunday brunch. I ordered one of their specialty blue margaritas before remembering that the brunch included bottomless mimosas! The sparkling they use is not the best so be aware but they were alright. Love the omelet bar and all of the fresh side fixins like fresh mushrooms, pickled red onions and cilantro. Aside from the amazing brunch they have HH specials and I think free quesadillas or something to go along with that. Sit at the bar if you want to be wowed by the awesome speedy bartenders. This is a very legit spot to hang out outside and watch the games. Sitting outside eating some fajitas the ambience was just one of those days where you enjoy being alive. It's definitely a plus when you have an amazing waitress name Erin. She made sure my drinks were filled, she made sure I had plenty to eat, she made sure I had all my eating utensils. Came here with my family on a Sunday morning after church for brunch at around 10:30 a.m. It had been a long while since I last came here...way before the boardwalk was built. No issues parking at the time we arrived, we parked in the parking lot designated for Blue Mesa Grill just close to the door. There was a 5 minute wait to get seated but the hostess was friendly and sat us by the window overlooking the fountain. The A/C vents were directly above our table and we were all really cold. We moved to another table. The waiter Jwon was really attentive, filling up our water glasses and constantly checking on us. Wife and I came here mostly for the Adult brunch and there is a lot to select from. The Adult brunch costs $22 and includes drinks (including Mimosa). Kids eat free. The taco station was good with an assortment of different meats, toppings, guacamole, etc. They also have an awesome dessert selection. I think for the price and the fact that kids eat free, it's worth it. I loved the ambiance and the view of the fountain and the board walk. If you are thinking of coming, you may want to come a little early for brunch since it gets crowded after 10:30 a.m. on Sundays. I'll definitely come back here for brunch. read more

Update January 2020: After seeing my review below, Jimmy the new manager reached out and asked me to come for another visit. I'm glad I did. They definitely have made improvements. I ordered a Benny blanco which is a fruity margarita on the rocks with fresh juices. It was amazing and the best part was how fresh it was. No fake mix used here and it shows. For my meal I ordered a seafood mixed grill which came with salmon, shrimp skewers and a blue crab enchilada. The salmon was well cooked and seasoned. The shrimp was coated in a seasoning that made it taste smoky which was very good. The enchilada used a good amount of crab and shrimp inside so there was enough for each bite. I enjoyed my meal and would definitely come back. Original review: I came in for happy hour and dinner food with my friends. The happy hour drink specials are really good. I like the blue margarita and for happy hour you get it for a steal in the tall glass. They also serve chips and salsa and quesadillas at a bar for free. The quesadillas are made fresh in front of you with an option of chicken or veggie. I decided to get the seafood enchiladas for dinner. The meal came with beans and rice and a small corn cake. The seafood inside was subpar and likely frozen and from the gulf. The after taste was bad and it smelled weird so I sent mine back. Not sure if the seafood was old or what but I wasn't a fan. I was visiting from out of town, and a family member actually brought me here. No expectations no research on my end. It was Sunday so it took a while to be seated; about 40mins. I was pleasantly surprised that it was buffet styled; which was great, because I was starving at that point. I want to call the food, Tex-Mex styled breakfast. Their were different stations with different types of food such as grits, some poultry items, salads, fruit, etc.. another plus was that you could get up and get more food as many times as you'd like and also, there were mimosas. The service was overall pretty good. My food was delicious. There was also a variety of fresh juices and dessert table. The ambiance is very family friendly. A lot of families when I visit. Overall, I would recommend it to any Texas native. 3 stars because it wasn't "amazing" just good for brunch that day as someone from out of town read more

This review is specifically related to a horrible experience at the 2024 Fathers Day Brunch Buffet . I have been a longtime customer of the Plano location since it opened, Addison before that. My spouse and I have enjoyed Mothers Day, Fathers Day, birthdays, anniversaries , and Chilihead events regularly. We have always enjoyed excellent experiences until this time. Knowing how busy brunch buffets are, my spouse made a 10:30 am reservation for two well in advance. He confirmed the res. 3x by a phone call to the rest. , and 2x by responding to texts. Upon arrival we were directed to a folding table and folding chairs in the dimly lit bar area, being told the dining room was reserved forlarger parties "because we're busy." This was not mentioned during the reservation process. The rest. was 150% busier Mothers Day but we were still seated in a booth on that visit. After sitting for 15+ minutes I had to go to the bar to ask for ice water and ask to see a server for my drink order. The food was as good as usual except the made fresh waffle station appears to be gone for good. I'm glad I did. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted by a super sweet hostess named Paige (she actually turned out to be my waitress too). I came during happy hour. She told me about to specials and I ordered. She was extremely friendly and upbeat. She asked me how long I was in town and told me about the brunch on the weekend. It was a holiday so I could tell they were short staffed but he was working hard. The first impression was the hostess who just stared at me when I arrived. I had to ask her for a table and when we suggested near the fountain, she told me that those tables were dirty. And yes they were. When I arrived, there were 6 dirty tables with ice melt in the glasses so you know they were there for a while. When I left, there were 9 dirty tables in our dining area. But, the server and the food more than made up for condition of the dining room and the hostess who did not want to be at work today. We will be back. The service here is terrible. Prior to leaving this review I read a few others regarding service and I definitely couldn't agree more with them. We sat out on the patio which it seems that the servers tend to forget to check on the patio customers as we noticed other tables were having issues as well. 1. When we requested the kids menu which was not given to us previously by the hostess. Our server continuously kept forgetting to bring it to our table, but then would ask us if we were ready to order. 2. We ordered our drinks and no straws were provided. We had to ask her to bring out some straws, which never came out until our food came. My kids drinks came with a lid so I ended up taking it off and holding it for them to drink without spilling. 3. We ordered an appetizer which was nachos, before she would write down our appetizer, she wanted to inform us that all appetizers will come out at the same time as our food. We told her ok that's no big deal. 4. The nacho appetizer never came out, and since she never returned back to our table after giving us our food to check in/refill water we could not inquire about it. 5. We were given our food and no silverware to eat with until when she came back 5 minutes later to bring it out, she made a joke about how sad we looked sitting there just staring at our food. 6. She just never came back, I could see her here and there checking a table inside. After we finished our food we sat, and sat, and sat. Just waiting for her to come to check on us. I wanted to order a dessert and did not get the opportunity to do so. My husband wanted another corona, and he couldn't get one. We had waited so long that I decided to go in and physically track her down. To my surprise they were not busy inside, only a few tables had people at them. I couldn't locate her so I informed the host that I'm read to go and need my check. She finally came with the check 15 minutes later after inquiring with the host. My husband and I had joked that we could probably just leave and they would never know (not that we would, but that's how bad it was). But in reality we felt like a hostage there, we just wanted to leave. I do want to mention that Blue Mesa was significantly the least busy place and all of the other restaurants at the boardwalk were jammed packed! They really need to get it together, because the poor service seems to be ongoing. Yum, yum, yum! RRR and I, along with 2 friends, went here for their New Years Day brunch and it was quite fine! There were so many choices that there just was no way to try it all. They had multiple salads but my favorite that I went back for several times was their corn-black bean salad. Simple but very well done. At one station a cook was making fresh waffles, to-order omelets, eggs benedict and some kind of Mexican egg dish. There was an entire long bar of hot dishes from brisket to KIng Ranch chicken casserole, enchiladas to a corn pudding-like dish. And there was a dessert bar with LOTS of fresh fruit, cookies, brownies, rice pudding, pumpkin flan. Unlimited mimosas were part of the deal but we were getting ready to drive out of town so had to limit ourselves. It was just all so good and our service was great to boot. Well done, Blue Mesa! How have I never reviewed this place? I've been going here for years, and it's been fairly reliable. The blue margaritas are legendary, and quite good (if a little sweet), and the chips and salsa are some of the best around, particularly the nicely seasoned sweet potato chips. Recently, we've gone to happy hour a few with co-workers visiting from out of town, and they've really enjoyed the complimentary quesadilla bar. We sometimes get guacamole to go with the chips, and it's always fresh and tasty. Probably my favorite menu item over the years, though, is the delicious adobe pie. Available in chicken or black bean, it features a lovely masa "shell" with very flavorful shredded chicken, topped with a green chile pesto (the recipe is actually available on their website, if you want to take a crack at it yourself). I can totally make a meal with just this and those chips, salsa, and guac. This is definitely a good place to go for some reliable food. Check it out! read more

We ate here last night. Absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was great, plenty of room between tables. Our server was very attentive. Our drinks never got below half full. Food came out in a timely manner. Our server brought out 2 different kinds of salsa with regular chips and sweet potato chips. YUM! Great items to choose from on the menu.
