Holy yum, this place is so good! It doesn't look like much from the outside (or the inside, come to think of it), but don't let that fool you. The food's amazing and the wait staff are attentive. I ordered the polenta with black beans topped with an egg and a vegetarian sausage patty. The fella had an omelette with 'taters. Both were delish. They serve good, strongcoffee which is roasted at a coffee shop next door. We're usually hangry peeps who refuse to wait to eat, but we're glad we waited the 20 minutes for a table. As the restaurant's nestled in the marina ship yard, parking can be a little tricky to find. Looking forward to dining here again next time we're in town. read more

Funky breakfast/lunch spot in the boatyard. Lots of fun breakfast twists on old favorites. Sometimes there's a wait, but it's worth it. Before the pandemic, the staff would dress in theme costumes for special occasions, like Halloween and once when a long-time server was moving on to bigger horizons. I hope they still do that. Good place. Quite kitchy and small. Gets really busy on the weekend. The food is a good value, you get allot for what you pay. It's a stick to your ribs menu. The biscuits and gravy were a very generous portion. Biscuits were big and hearty, the gravy was creamy with lots of sausage. I had them put two over easy eggs on top. They were more like over medium. I got a side of bacon, delicious but greasy. My wife got the You Asked for It, pancake, one egg, two strips of bacon. She said the pancake was very dense. She ate half of. This is definitely a locals place. Most people seemed to know each other and talked from table to table. The waitresses sat down with the customers and had real conversations with them. Which I thought was kind of nice. Although the service took a while. BTW the coffee is very good and you get to pick out your mug. If there's a wait, you can pour yourself a cup and wait outside. Overall the experience was positive but I'm not sure we'll come back. I chose the Blue Moose because of the good reviews and they were correct. The food was great! The scrambled eggs were fluffy and not overcooked but also not wet. The French toast was my least favorite because it was rather wet but the flavor was good. The pancakes were amazing. Thick and fluffy without being hard. Bacon and sausage were great. My second review for this restaurant. First was probably over 5 years ago, but have been coming ever since. Even with Covid-19, still one of the best restaurants for breakfast anywhere around. Think Maltby Cafe in a shipyard! An amazing value and incredibly delicious. Everything continues to seem fresh and made with care even in the middle of all this madness. Expect to wait, even more so than before, but again it's worth it. Order to go and save yourself some time. Make sure to consider some type of gratuity for the staff. read more

Amazing. We have eaten at every breakfast place on this side of the peninsula and Blue Moose is far and away the best. Really the only place worth going back to. It seems like since COVID a lot of restaurants have jacked up their prices and reduced quality or portion size but not here. The staff is all awesome, the place is clean and kitschy and adorable, they play Grateful Dead deep cuts and serve really excellent, delicious food using high quality ingredients. Don't be intimidated that it is in a semi-industrial area near the marina, it is worth parking several blocks away and walking if necessary. Coffee is great, breakfast burrito was amazing, This Ain't Keto corned beef and biscuits and gravy was all awesome and the kids still haven't stopped talking about the french toast. Just go. Clearly bad service or just plain racist or bigots. You decide. We were seated, told that if a larger party comes we will be asked to move. We said no problem and we can even share a table. We sit wait 15 minutes and the waitress and owner walk past us like we are non existent. Multiple parties are seated after us. They get their orders in and they get service. The owner and server continue to walk past us helping other people. I am clearly the only minority in the restaurant with a bright red shirt on sporting fabulous hair. Not like I don't stick out like a sore thumb. Sorry, I thought Port Townshend was open and welcoming..clearly at this restaurant it occurs if your skin is a lighter shade of pink. If all things are equal except the color of my skin and we were treated differently...I wonder if it is bigotry...or maybe homophobia because I was there with my husband...not sure but I will ponder this at a more welcoming and friendly restaurant like the Hudson Cafe. Wow!! My son and I ordered take out this morning and boy was it good! I had the breakfast hash. It had great flavor, big chunks of meat, and great potatoes. My son had the French toast cinnamon roll and it was delicious as well. Great food, reasonable prices, big portions. We'll definitely eat here again! read more

Stopped in for breakfast this morning. The food was excellent but the service stunk. I had asked three different times for a coffee refill,even though different waitresses were walking around filling coffee cups. I noticed the coffee cups they were filling , seemed to be local customers. I guess the bottom line is if you're visiting and stop in you're not worth their time. This was an amazing find. Absolutely don't miss this breakfast! Yes they were busy, but the wait wasn't too bad for a Sunday at brunch time (10 minutes). We did wait a bit longer than normal, however the food came out very fast and was totally worth it. The portions are huge, so bring your appetite or a friend to share with. This little gem of a café is located in the Port Townsend shipyard. It is loved by the locals and is homey and casual. The service is excellent and the food is made to order and fresh. NOTE: They only accept CASH or CHECKS. We've been here three times so far and it's always good. I've had the Turkey Rueben, the Moose Club (request that they toast the bread--so good), and a lettuce wrapped cheeseburger. Sandwiches come with a side of chips, orange wedges, or homemade potato salad. They don't serve French fries here, but you won't miss them--the potato salad is good. Their clam chowder is rich and doesn't taste like a mix. Lovely flavor. They have indoor seating and casual patio seating on nice days. read more

I would love to give this place a great review but I'd be lying. The French toast, while light, had very little custard on it and almost none of their "special" syrup and the bacon was super thin sliced. The eggs Benedict had very over cooked eggs. The Blue Moose Cafe is almost in the middle of nowhere (not in the touristy part of Port Townsend), and this cafe is located inside an old shipyard and the place reminds me of a portable building. The food is tasty and hearty. It's really perfect for the hardworking shipyard worker and local hippies that live in the area. Portions are big and the ingredients are fresh and high quality. The portions are so big that when I asked for Heuvos Rancheros which is two grilled corn tortillas topped with black beans, two eggs, cheddar and jack cheeses, topped with salsa, sour cream, cilantro sauce, and avocado. The waitress said, "It's a big dish. Are you sure you want the full order?" I ended up ordering the half order and it was big enough to fill me up. Prices are just damn affordable too. I come to realize that it's where the locals eat and I highly recommend this place if you're in Port Townsend. A true find that locals and tourists flock to it seems despite being hidden by the fish shop and docks. Started with great coffee and excellent service and ambience too. The food was original, flavorful and super portions. My husband had a corned beef hash he loved. One kid had the sunshine with eggs and cinnamon roll. I stopped hete because I was on vacation and hungry after a morning hike and it was one of the few places open before lunch. The first thing I noticed when I sat down was the creepy fruit with eyes staring at me and covered in a thin layer of dust. But it seemed busy with locals so I thought it wild be fine. Took 45 minutes to get our food. The servers all seemed to be avoiding eye contact. Took 15 minutes to get a waiters attention to get a coffee refill. Never got asked about a second refill. When asked about the size of the pancakes the waitress suggested a size that was much smaller than reality so we ordered 2 pancakes. This was too much food. We had to practically grab a passing waiter to get the check. All in all, the food was edible, but not great. Certainly not worth the wait or the staff. read more

Yes, "Yay! I'm a fan!" says it all! Actually, I'd love to click on that fifth star but I can't bring myself to for a couple reasons... First reason is they only take cash and checks. In this particular instance, we were all kind of sitting there patting our pockets having just gone to a wedding the day before! Luckily a person in our party had a nice large bill to cover all of us! Second reason for the missing star is the parking. We were on motorcycles and still had difficulty finding appropriate parking. Those two reasons alone, no others, as this place has stellar food and service! Yes, the Corned Beef Hash is everything you want it to be and then some! Crispy potatoes that are nice and soft on the inside and tender corned beef with some wonderful crispy edges make this dish perfection on a plate! The French Toast is like no other, thick and fluffy dipped in nice thick egg wash complete with a pecan maple butter all melty and sweet. I can't forget to mention the very thick maple syrup that clings just perfectly to anything you put it on! The bacon has great flavor, the bagels are fresh, eggs cooked perfectly and biscuits really big and fluffy! The service is perfect! Friendly and attentive, filling waters and coffees regularly, always with a smile and sometimes some laughter along with us! The Blue Moose Cafe has a wonderful feel, warm and welcoming and local. This cafe in the marina area (near Landfall) looks deceptively like a run-down shack, but in fact, it actually houses a restaurant which serves really interesting food. Everything we had was homemade, and it was really hard to choose from the huge menu. I had my favorite scrambled eggs and sweet home fries (which have both red-skinned white potatoes and sweet potatoes) and my friend had an "Ooh la-la" sandwich which was loaded with generous portions of crab, artichoke heart, roasted garlic and cream cheese, broiled under a thick layer of Parmesan cheese. We also tried a burger, and while it didn't rock anyone's world, it really was decent. We didn't have any of the kids with us on this trip, but the choices for kids seemed sure to please.
