This by far the one of the worst bar B que place I have eaten at. I ordered a CW pound of brisket and 12 ribs along with a big order of two meats that came with two sides chicken and brisket. The brisket came chopped up no smoke ring and no bark, the chicken was chopped up into little pieces as far as the ribs we concerned they had no meat on the bones, that's because the don't know how to cut the ribs , this CW had to be the worst is was charged $76 for crappy Bar B Que ! read more

I was really excited to order my usual from here only to be disappointed in the quality today. I really love the onion rings only for them to arrive not crispy at all. Looks like it was only cooked quickly. It's very soft. As for the quality of the sandwich...such a disappointment too. I remember when it was fuller. read more

I had the pork barbecue sandwich. You have to eat it with the coleslaw provided. It was great. The pork was so tender. Often time a smoked pork sandwich can be a little chewy or dry if made in bulk ahead of time. This was the absolute opposite. I cannot say tenderness enough! Service was awesome. My drink was grabbed to be refilled as soon as the glass was empty on table. Taking some banana pudding and burnt ends to my hotel, so stay tune for updated review. read more

I have been here now 2 days in a row!! That should say a lot right there!! When we got here for lunch, both tome, the parking lot was full, so I just quietly prayed that we would find a parking space, sure enough, we found one! A busy parking lot speaks volumes to a new customer! The place is nothing fancy just smells of a plain good southern old fashioned barbeque joint! You can smell the place from the road! The wait staff was fantastic and very friendly! The food came out hot and fresh! The food was fantastic as expected! Their onion rings are the best I have ever tasted & I have tasted tons of different type of onion songs over the years! The pulled pork barbeque was moist and served on a fresh friend! The coleslaw on the side was also one of the best I have tasted! For three people the food is a little over $30 which is fair for a Bbq joint! I highly recommend this place and looks like I will be coming a whole lot to this place and I'm bringing friends along! This place is hidden Bbq gem in Lynchburg & on our way out, the owners shared with me that they were planning on opening up another Bbq joint on Graves Mill Rd. which is closer to my house! On a side note, the wait staff told me privately that the owners are amazing people to work for and they loved working at this place... Which also makes this place a wonderful place to eat! Pretty good BBQ with a great staff. Ordered the two meats, brisket and pulled pork. Came out fast and had a good flavor. The slaw, beans, fries, and macaroni and cheese was good and well portioned out. Lil Chew's ribs were tender and the bones slid out with ease and clean. The sauces was ok. We prefer a little more heat on our spicy sauce. One issue was the flies in the inside of the restaurant. Also, the sign that reads wear a mask when entering the restaurant was not being enforced equally we noticed. It seemed that regulars were not called out on the lack of mask. Goodness, this is the best BBQ in Lynchburg. Walked in last Friday night and got the 2 meat platter with brisket and chicken. Sides were the Sidewinder potatoes and coleslaw. The tea was sweet and the meats were done to perfection. Brisket had great taste without anything added. The chicken was probably the best I have had this year. It's ok. The pricing is a bit much and compared so some of the other BBQ alternatives in town, it can be woefully underwhelming at times. The brisket was a bit dry and the sauces were adequate. This place rocks for bbq in LYH! When you walk up you can literally see them smoking the meat out back, which will definitely make your mouth water. The menu has everything you could want for bbq--wings, pulled pork, chicken, ribs, sausage, brisket, you name it. I got the 4 meat platter to try it all and I have to say, my favorite thing was the sausage. It was SO flavorful and smoky with a great pop to it (if you know, you know). The brisket was full of flavor and not too dry, and the smoked wings were something that I plan on getting just by themselves the next time I'm in. It's SO hard to find good bbq in VA and this place is paving the way! When you go, bring a group or just a few friends as the place is huge and can accommodate really any sized group you can bring. And, for the love of all that is good, if you don't get the mac and cheese, you'll be doing yourself a HUGE disservice. I'd eat it for breakfast. read more

My significant other and I grabbed Blue Ridge BBQ while we were in town in September and thought it was alright. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and enjoyed it with cole slaw and Mac and cheese. My significant other got the pulled chicken with chicken wings, slaw, and beans. We also split a small slab of ribs. You can't tell because of all of the sauce on them, but the ribs were way over cooked to the point of being crunchy/charred, and hard on one end. We weren't able to eat that part and the rest wasn't exactly 'fall off the bone' either. While we were disappointed by the ribs, the other meat we ordered was pretty good and the sides weren't bad either. I would give them another try if I lived closer because the ribs had to have been a one-off experience seeing as this is a bbq spot! read more

This has become one of our favorite go-to spots. We used to visit a chain place in town but they closed. At first I was sad, but then it became a blessing because we tried this place and have been eating delicious local BBQ ever since. We are hooked!!! The pulled pork sandwich with Cole Slaw is my go to. The sidewinders (potato wedges) are amazing. Always perfectly cooked. I've branched out and gotten the Blue Ridge Burger a couple of times, and it's great too. The staff are very friendly. Since the quarantine, this place was a godsend. They did take out and opened in restaurant dining as soon as they could. I'm very glad they put in the extra work to open quickly. If you are looking for some great local BBQ, there is a reason this is one of most popular joints... it's great! read more

Came here for lunch one day when I was in town for business. The parking lot was full when I arrived, so I had to wait a few minutes to get a spot. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was that the place is large and open, which is refreshing, because so many places now are very cramped and tight. We placed our orders at the counter and grabbed a seat. The food took maybe 15 minutes to come out. I ordered the pulled pork with max & cheese based on the recommendation of the girl at the counter and it was pretty tasty, but nothing special. I guess my standards are set pretty high for barbecue in the south, since I live in Chicago and the bbq there is typically just okay. This place wasn't too much different than what I could get back home though. As a Pitmaster and one who travels the country eating BBQ, I am shocked that this place got a 4 1/2 star rating. Here is the food I ordered and my review: Brisket-It should not have been served! It DID have a nice smoky flavor but it was unbelievably tough. A good brisket can be cut with a fork and if you do need a knife, you shouldn't have to use a lot of strength. There is no doubt in my mind that this was reheated. There was no smoke ring and the internal color was all the same shade of brown. As a BBQ fanatic, I was embarrassed. Pulled Chicken-SMOTHERED in BBQ sauce. What are you trying to hide?? You should be able to taste some smoke and the chicken, this taste was only sauce. Pulled Pork-Semi Moist, no flavor. IT could have used a LITTLE BBQ sauce in it to bring it to life. Collard Greens-Very good! Cole Slaw-Good but just a tad to vinegary for my taste. Others may like it that way. My only wish is for people who have given this place more than 2 stars, an opportunity to taste real BBQ some day. TO ME, this is NOT a t-shirt worthy BBQ restaurant. Everyone has their own palate and taste and there may be folks that like their bbq the way it's served here, just not me. read more

I have been enjoying Blue Ridge BBQ for probably 10 years or more when all Marvis 'the owner' just had a trailer serving BBQ on Mayflower Drive every Thursday. A couple of my coworkers and myself would leave work a little early to beat the crowds at lunch.Need to open one in Amherst, but it's worth the drive. We came by from Washington DC for some of the best BBQ we ever had. Burnt ends were flavorful, tender and delicious and also really enjoy fresh onion rings and peanut butter cake! Owner Marv came out to greet us since we were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary, which was very special. He shared with us some of his smoking and barbecuing knowledge and was very kind. We stopped here while picking up beat spray at True Value. Menu had several interesting options and BF and I went with 3 meat meal option. I chose brisket, pork and wings with coleslaw and onion rings as sides. BF had pork, brisket and hotlink with mac n cheese and greens. He said sides were good, mine were too. We both loved the brisket! It was super tender and moist. Pork BBQ was good too, it was served plain and we were given sauces on the side. I tried the mustard based sauce, vinegar sauce and house BBQ sauce. I liked their sauce the best and it tasted great on pork and brisket. Now for the wings...OMG!! I had honey sriracha wings which gave me LIFE! Nice blend of hot and sweet and the wings had a great smokey taste as well. I ordered brisket off the bulk menu. There was no choice between flat and point offered. The brisket was on the tough and dry side so if you choose to eat here, ensure you avail yourself of the available sauces. If you're on a budget, this place will get it done however County Smoak and Mission BBQ are both close by and far better quality BBQ. read more

If you drive by Blue Ridge BBQ on Timberlake and see "special today chicken livers" you be smart to keep on driving. Ordered 2 platters for take out. The sidewinders "french fries" were pretty good. The Pulled pork barbecue sandwich is Carolina wet style. I think he does smoke the butts on premises, and I still crave deep South dry smoked, but it was decent product. read more
