Let's get this out there first: This is NOT fast food and isn't intended to be. It is however amazingly executed, incredibly delicious, and beautifully authentic Japanese/Asian Fusion cuisine. Found this little sweet spot after house hunting with my husband. Saw Yelp reviews and decided to give it a try and the food was spectacular. Very clean and quaint little spot in an older looking shopping center. We ordered the fried sweet potato wrapped shrimp, shoyu ramen and fried fish sandwich which were all fresh and done well. The fried shrimp were perfectly fried, not overly oily and super light. The shoyu ramen had great flavor, was not too salty, perfectly sesasoned to our taste. The fried fish sandwich was also a great choice, the batter was also light and didn't leave a greasy mess like normal fish sandwiches have. We have been addicted to Bluefish Grill since it opened and been having take-out during COVID. Tonight we ordered early afternoon New Year's Eve and were able to get a sushi order in for take-out. Usually Mary Ann is so slammed, she doesn't have time to do her sushi for take-out, which is a perfectionism dream! This is a cute suburb small establishment. People and servers are friendly! However the food is not and I really wanted to enjoy this neighborhood grill. The kitchen is open so you can see food being prepared from your seats. They microwave a lot of food and claim it's fresh. I ordered several things in hopes of having something that was appeasing. The only reason I would tell people not to go there is because it is the best food in Chesterfield and getting more and more crowded. Fresh and flavorful. Staff is very nice and they do what it takes to make customers happy. We get our sushi to- go and they are realistic when they are too busy to take those orders. I was on the hunt for the authentic yakisoba so I ordered takeout from Bluefish Grill after reading all the reviews on Yelp. When I called I was told that my takeout order would take 1 hour. It seemed like the lady answering the phone wanted me to give up. I wasn't about to give up on some yakisoba so I put in my order. I ordered steamed potstickers (gyoza), takoyaki, curry chicken bowl, and the beef yakisoba. I sent my husband to pick it up. He got there right around the 45 minute mark and an annoyed who had been waiting for some time decided to walk out on his order. He waited for an additional 30 minutes and enjoyed some hot sake at only $5 a serving. I thought something was off when he got home and told me that the total was $80. Once I opened the bag, I saw that they had put the annoyed guy that lefts food in with our order and charged us for it. Thats one way to recoup your losses. Besides that, the food was great. The yakisoba was authentic. Most places just put some soy sauce on spaghetti noodles and call it a day. They actually used soba noodles and fried them using the traditional sauce. Also, they used the appropiate pickled ginger. The curry chicken my husband got was just chicken katsu with a japanese curry sauce. The gyoza was good, but they forgot to give us the dipping sauce. The takoyaki was yummy, but it doesn't travel well. The other guys food was fish sandwich, that turned out to be amazing (according to my husband)! And a teryaki beef bowl with pickled ginger on top, also very good. The food is an A+ at this place and I can see whyI they are so busy. read more

We were the first ones there when the restaurant opened and were told it would be at least 40 minutes when I ordered sushi for a sushi order. So I asked for a shrimp rice bowl instead of a beef bowl and was told they would not do that. Then I ordered the teriyaki beef rice bowl, them 10 minutes later I was told they're were out of beef. We've been to Bluefish Grill multiple times. The food there has never disappointed. I would rate this one of the - if not THE best place to eat in Richmond. The soft shell crab sandwich is our family favorite and we've also sampled sushi as well as some of their other entrees as well. Besides the awesome food, what has prompted this review is the above and beyond service which is always consistently great. We visited last evening after getting delayed due to severe storms that had passed through the area. We walked in right at closing as we did not realize they closed at 9. The server was well through her closing routine with chairs up in the tables and floors swept. The owners were in the process of closing the kitchen and still they all said to please come and welcomed us though it was in the middle of their prime time. We were not rushed and our dinner did not disappoint. All served with "no problems" and smiles. read more

Thick burger with bacon lettuce tomato onion and a crab cake on top,With fries. It was a big burger and husband loved it, the fries were amazing had to steal a few ;). I had the sunshine sushi roll, was sweet, spicy, and big, also had a crab cake on side. Yum yum so good. Seaweed salad awesome and Edamame was spicy and salty and both great. The skin was crisp and seasoned very well, while the meat was juicy, flaky, and awesomely delicious. We tried the potatoes shrimp appetizer, they were ok but not much flavor. But then my wife sushi came and OMG, this place is the REAL SUSHI KING! Fresh, did I mention Fresh? You can taste the love in every piece of sushi and if you never had sushi before, I highly recommend you eat here first and then be disappointed by the rest! However, it has become a pretty unfriendly place to eat, but the food was still very good. Tonight, we had a very friendly server, Tabby. That's where it ended. We sat outside on the patio. The sun was very hot and the other diners were complaining too. I asked Tabby to pull the shades down. The owner came out, looking very angry, pulled the shades down. We all said thank you and she did not respond and went back into the restaurant. It went downhill from there. We ordered the shrimp tempura for the appetizer. My husband ordered the vegetarian ramen and a suchi roll. I ordered the softshelled crab sandwich. The ramen came out first, then the sushi and last the softshelled crab. No appetizer. The ramen was good. The crab was inedible, Over breaded and over cooked. Hard and dry. No taste of the crab. The appetizer came out after the entres. The shrimp appeared to be processed. It did not look like shrimp, did not taste like shrimp. When I sent the crab back, I expected the owner to come out and ask what the problem was. She never came out. The server came over while my husband was eating his sushi and asked if we wanted the check. HE WAS STILL EATING. MY FOOD HAD BEEN SENT BACK!!! I am so done. Never agan. read more
