The food was absolutely amazing, but it was a 40 minute wait to get it. I think it may have been an off evening though, so I'm keeping it a 5 star based on food and service. Our server was a young man who was delightful, very kind and helpful. I had the shrimp tempura roll topped with spicy tuna, omg - amazing. Up there with the best sushi I've ever had. My friend had a salad with seared tuna, and we "carried out" the Japanese noodles with chicken and two other sushi rolls for the kids. Everyone loved their food, and I will definitely go back next time we are in Midlothian. Might want to call ahead, it is a very tight "hole-in-the wall" type restaurant (though clean and maintained) and they take reservations. read more

This place is one of those gems you just happen to stumble on. Found this place on Yelp while looking for any new places to try in my area. So happy I found this place. Went here for lunch on a Saturday. We ordered the sashimi poke salad, potstickers, curry chicken bowl, and Mabo Shoyu ramen. The potstickers were good. Wrapping was not too doughy. It had just the right amount of crispyness. The filling was tasty. The sashimi poke salad was refreshing. The sweetness of the mango and creaminess of the avocado provided a good balance with the seaweed. My only complaint is that they should add a bit more tuna. Otherwise it was a great salad. The curry chicken was very good. The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The curry sauce was flavorful and not overpowering. It complemented the chicken very well along with the coconut rice. The Mabo Shoyu ramen was outstanding. This came with a spicy broth. It had plenty of ramen noodles and ground pork in it. The broth was very delicious. Overall the food was fresh and delicious. Service was friendly and attentive. Dine in area seats about 16-18. read more

First time at Bluefish Grill and disappointed I hadn't come sooner!! It literally is minutes from my house and they have been open about a year. The space is small but the food makes up for it. The name is kinda misleading too because I would never have known to check out this rare gem for Ramen noodles. I only ordered the Mabo Shoyu Ramen which is spicy ground pork with ramen topped with half soft boiled egg, seaweed, bok choy, bean sprouts and bamboo. I was a little skeptical because I love my Ramen with all the works!! However, this dish had sooo much flavor and the noodles were perfection!! I cleaned that bowl right up!! I am convinced that if I have craving for ramen I will definitely come back. Their other dishes are also delish per the friends that recommended me to try out Blue Fish Grill. This is my new favorite place to eat! I saw this little gem when I was heading to another place in the same shopping center! So excited that they opened in our Brandermill neighborhood! I've had the turkey sandwich, the special fried crab sushi roll and the crab cake sandwich and everything was absolutely amazing!!! I ordered for everyone in our office today and everyone loved what they got! The owners of Blue Fish are the most amazingly sweet people I've ever met! They helped me out to the car with my giant to go order and were very accommodating of our love of sauces!! I have to say that if you want a unique and delicious experience that you should definitely check out the Blue Fish Deli! There is something there for everyone! As soon as you walk in, it smells so good and you know just by that and what everyone else is eating it is going to be fantastic! I ordered the tapoyaki, cod dinner pan fried and the green tea cheesecake. The cod dinner was not what I expected, it had a Japanese flare and even my sides (mashed potatoes and green beans) weren't like your typical American side. This was our first time trying Bluefish grill, but we decided to go based on the reviews. The restaurant was small, but clean. The server asked us to sit at a table with 2 seats since it was only 2 of us which we understood, but the table is small so not a lot of room. The beer options are domestic only so no Coronas, but we were ok and went with a bud light. We tried the fried pot stickers which were good, but it's hard to mess that up. We tried the Takoyaki (octopus dumpling) because we love octopus, but it had a weird after taste. We tried the crab cake burger and 2 sushi rolls (Vegas and the Sunshine). Being from Maryland we should've known better than to try a crab cake elsewhere, but we gave it a shot. The crab cake needs a lot of work. It's flat and loaded with filler to the point you don't realize there's crab in it. The burger tasted like it was a frozen patty, not fresh meat. The best part of the meal was the sushi. However, the sushi rice was slightly on the mushy side. If we do come back, we'll probably stick to the sushi or try something different on the menu. One other note...I did like that the napkins had silverware and a straw included inside so you didn't have to ask for one. The presentation of the food was really nice too as you can see from the pictures. read more
