I am not sure what is worse here -- the food or the service. After being seated, we were asked 3 separate times if we wanted tap or bottled water. After the 3rd time, around 10 minutes in, someone finally brought it. I ordered chamomile tea, which came quickly enough and tasted as one expects it to. No complaints here. However, we also ordered the "Warm Chocolate Brownie," which I suppose is where everything began to go wrong. After ordering, we sat for 30 minutes, without being checked on at all. I finished my tea and we finished the entire carafe of tap water. The table next to us, who came in after we did, had not only ordered and received food, but finished their entire meals. Our waitress diligently made laps around the restaurant, checking on her other customers, but never came to our corner. Around 25 minutes in, nary a brownie in sight, I began to stare her down, hoping to make eye contact and wave her over. Finally, after a few minutes of this, I did, and she came to ask "everything okay?" We asked her to check on our order. She walked up to the counter and spoke to someone, and we watched her check her device, clearly checking to see if she had put our order in. I am assuming she forgot to, which is okay, mistakes happen, but maybe she would have noticed sooner if she had decided to pay us any attention at all. Contrary to its name, it was cold and rock-hard. I had no delusions of this being baked fresh in house, but they could have at least microwaved it. Though the description promised strawberries, freeze dried raspberries, chocolate sauce, and ice cream, there were no raspberries. And to add insult to injury, the ice cream was grainy and freezer burnt. Yuck. I never thought I'd find a brownie I didn't like even a little bit -- I mean it's mostly sugar and chocolate -- but Bluestone Lane found a way. After a total disaster of a tea and snack break, we were ready to get out of there, so I waved our waitress down once more to ask for the check. I had absolutely no faith she'd find her way back to us on her own. While making eye contact with me and walking over with the tablet to pay, she noticed the table next to us, sipping on their coffees and still chatting happily, and stopped to ask them if they "were ready to pay too?" If you are thinking of trying Bluestone Lane DUMBO, run as fast and as far away as you can. I stopped in on a Sunday morning for a quick morning snack. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in to realize it was a full service cafe, and not an "order at the counter then sit and enjoy." Immediately, I was asked if I would like water 3 times by different people before it arrived. Not exactly a problem, more so a little comical. After perusing the yummy sounding menu, I landed on the "Warm Chocolate Brownie" (remember this: warm is in the title and description). Thankfully, the cafe had a nice atmosphere, as I then waited 30 minutes before hearing from any server again. To make matters worse, a pair who were seated after myself ordered two full meals and were served and finished eating before I received my food. The waitress, while nice when speaking to her, did not check on us once during this long period of wait. After a while, we began to try and catch her attention to check on our food, these attempts were in vain as she never came close to our table. Finally, 30 minutes after we ordered, our waitress stopped by for a quick "everything still good" which is when I asked for her to check on our order. After this we could see that our order had failed to be put in or maybe wrongly grabbed by another server- I will never know. We watched as she waited by the line for our order to be completed. I hoped for a quick "it will be out soon, sorry for the wait" but no apology ever came. About ten minutes after this we finally had it. Our WARM chocolate brownie! I began to sink my fork in it expecting soft and chewy. I was met with a brownie hard and cold as if it had just been removed from the refrigerator. I was not expecting it to be made fresh, but I did expect (after advertised to be warmed) for it to be thrown in the microwave for a few seconds to get nuked! The ice cream was gritty, it was missing the promised freeze-dried raspberries. Thankfully, the chocolate sauce was yummy and the fresh strawberries were a delight. I wish I could say that was it, and that the service the rest of the day made up for our bad start but alas. I asked the waitress for our check and she came back by moments later with the digital payment system. Yay! But then she asked the table in front of us if they were ready for their check and closed them out before us. She waited as they paid, then asked if they needed anything else. When she made her way to us, the customers who had initially asked for the check, she instructed me to press a button and left me alone to complete payment. We came here for brunch and wanted to use inkind for payment...I wish we would have known prior that the only way to pay with inkind is to pre order through the app. We ordered a breakfast burrito, the egg scramble and a side of pancakes. My egg scramble was extremely spicy given the chili flakes and other sauce they use. The avocado tasted great with the seasoning they applied. I couldn't finish all of it because it was quite a bit of food and just too spicy. Partner had the burrito and was satisfied with the taste and portion. We both had a Laird mocha which I prefer cold and he preferred hot. Lastly were the pancakes which were decent for what they were. We didn't have to wait at noon on a Saturday. This was a cute little café that features Australian-inspired coffee, breakfast, and lunch. Upon entering you are greeted by someone who then takes you to their seat which makes it feel pretty upscale but at the same time is pretty casual. My husband and I ordered a latte and an espresso with their Breakfast Bowl and BL Big Brekkie. Everything tasted great however I would've liked for their poached eggs to be more consistent as some were really jammy but others were a little over done. I also thought that the Breakfast bowl didn't work well with the dressing that came with it. I believe it was a lemon based vinaigrette and with everything else in the breakfast bowl it was a bit too citrusy so if you don't like heavy acidic notes I recommend swapping out the dressing. Overall I would recommend this cute Australian-inspired coffee shop as they have aesthetically pleasing drinks such as their Matcha Lattes and Smoothies which I will have to come back and try another time. read more

My wife took me to Bluestone Lane when she saw their Avocado Toast because that's what I eat for breakfast several times a week. The friendly staff walked us through some of their menu items and my wife ordered the Folded Chimichurri Eggs & Bacon on Toast while I chose the Brekkie Board that came with a 1/2 serving of the Avocado Smash and a Yogurt parfait. The Avocado Smash at Bluestone Lane quickly put the avocado toast I make at home to shame as it became the best I'd ever had. I now model my home version on what I had here. Everything we ate was fantastic. The only downside is how far it is from where we live because I'd love to eat there again. Barista was very friendly and I inquired what an Aussie Iced Chocolate was, but he heard latte (the other option which I found out once they prepared it). He highly recommended it, says it's his favorite. I ask him how he recommends it, & order as told an aussie latte with oat milk and strawberry. Figured, why not try their unique drink. I asked for banana bread too. He rings me up for 11.16....FORGOT the bread. That was another $5. This place is very expensive and not worth the prices to me. The food tasted so good and their gluten free bread is one of the best I have had before. We ordered their house coffee and cappuccino later, which were really good too. The six of us walked in to get cups of coffee.and something to eat. Bryce met us at the door and we said there were six of us. Immediately Bryce said we don't have room for you. My partner and I visited on a rainy morning, hoping to warm up with hot coffee, only to be met with a frustrating experience. We received a notification from Bluestone Lane about a reward for "one free barista beverage." The notification asked us to choose between redeeming the reward via mobile app or in-store. We chose in-store and received a code for the cashier to enter. Sounds simple enough, right? Or so we thought. We walked into the store and ordered a large flat white, intending to use the reward. The cashier immediately said they couldn't redeem rewards in-store and suggested switching to the mobile-app option, which was no longer possible. She insisted they had no way to enter reward codes but would ask her manager. The manager, informed her they couldn't redeem in-store rewards. We persisted, explaining we've done this before at this location, and she agreed to get the manager again. The manager, visibly reluctant, approached us. He asked to see the reward and what we wanted to order. We specified one large flat white with half and half. He asked for the in-store code, which we provided (something the cashier didn't even attempt to do). To no surprise, the coupon worked. However, when the drink was ready, it was a small flat white instead of a large. We mentioned the mistake to the manager, who we saw make the drink himself. He defensively claimed our reward was only good for a small beverage. We checked our reward, still open on our phone, and saw no mention of a size restriction. We showed this to the manager, who rudely stated, "well, on my screen it said it can only be a small." If that's true, then 1) why did he ask us what size we wanted, and 2) why not inform us while placing the order? This information should not come after the fact. He didn't even provide a receipt for us to check the order. My partner pointed out the lack of transparency about what the manager "saw on his screen" versus what we ordered with him. We reiterated that the only condition was the drink could be "up to $5." If the cost exceeds $5, customers simply pay the difference, which we would have gladly done. A large flat white is $5.40 + tax. Instead of apologizing or explaining, the manager was rude and raised his voice, making a scene. As someone with nearly a decade of experience in customer service management, I know the importance of delighting the customer and maintaining professionalism. This manager's behavior was unprofessional and disappointing. He reluctantly remade the drink to the correct size. We love Bluestone Lane and have had positive experiences at other locations with well-trained staff. However, the Dumbo location's current management and staff clearly do not prioritize customer service or proper handling of promotions. Regardless, we keep coming back. This morning, after dropping my child off at the daycare next door, I stopped by Bluestone Lane during the 8 a.m. rush. The place was bustling with a line of people waiting for their beverages or 'brekkie', all served by a single barista who was taking orders, preparing drinks, and serving customers. As I waited, I perused their menu for inspiration, hoping to find something different from my usual whole milk cappuccino. When it was finally my turn to order, I noticed that the barista/cashier charged me more than the menu price. Although the difference was less than a dollar, I felt it was not an honest practice. I politely inquired about the discrepancy and was met with a condescending response. The cashier asked if I wanted to see his screen, insisting that the price displayed there was correct. I mentioned that the menu should be updated if prices had increased. He first suggested that prices varied, but I pointed out that both prices referred to the same 12oz cappuccino. He then suggested it was due to taxes, but I showed him both prices before tax. Ultimately, he said it wasn't up to him and asked if I still wanted the cappuccino. Despite the frustrating interaction and the 20-minute wait, I decided to proceed with my order. Just a heads-up in case you're tempted to go inside--be aware of the possible overcharge. I have a cousin and her friends visiting from korea. Ive recommended this place to visit while touring DUMBO after seeing great reviews from both google and yelp. I was so wrong about it. They called me to claimed they wete discrimnated by the staffs because of their language barrier. They sat down without any greeting, ordered some crossaints, muffins and some drinks. Their crossaints never arrived when they asked about it, one of the staffs with an attitude claimed they never got the order. I understand sometimes its hard to get the order correctly because of the accents but have some decency and be friendly about the situation. First, they take your temp at the door and you can seat yourself inside- all workers had their masks on so we felt comfortable dining in. At the table, you scan the QR code on the table and you place your orders online. Very convenient. I think after placing our orders, the wait time for the food was a tad longer than we expected being that there was one other person that was dining as well. The BLATE looked really goood. It came with a side of fries which was nice. Think my husband enjoyed eating that even though we are not used to having breakfast or more so heavy breakfast in the morning. My avocado toast was pretty good too- I couldnt finish it. I dont think it was big but it is definitely filling. I asked that mine come with feta and they did jsut that!
