Five star rating for food, menu choices, scenery, and service. Like most beach towns, you have to pay for parking. Reservations are most certainly a good idea. I use Open Table most of the time, however they will save a few reservations for locals if you call directly. The host staff is friendly, the bar is always busy with whatever sports broadcast is happening, the servers are very knowledgeable, and the view it top-notch. The menu is extensive, so be prepared for some great choices. Many cocktail choices are available as well. Between the four of us we had, New England clam chowder, beer-battered fish and chips, fisherman's platter, crispy calamari, and the Spicy Avalon Roll. The portions are huge so be ready to get full or take home a doggy bag. The Fisherman's Platter has Panko prawns, scallops, beer-battered Cod, fries and very yummy coleslaw (not too sweet or full of mayo). The sushi and calamari were fresh and delicious. We will definitely return to try other menu items.

Hm. Average. I came here for a birthday dinner for my geriatric father. He LOVES seafood and this place has pretty solid reviews on Yelp. The service is where it was lacking.... oh my gooooodnessss.... We arrive, we were seated outside per our request, and it took a solid 15 minutes before the waiter came to take our drink order. He did not ask if we wanted any apps or anything else, took a drink order and immediately bolted inside. I couldn't even call him back to place an app order because he zoomed away so quick. 10 minutes later, the drinks appear. We place our app order. No questions if we were ready to order for entrees yet or not. Again, bolted out. A different person came to drop off their complimentary sourdough bread. We finally place our entree order and it takes maybe 20 minutes to get to our table. The odd thing is that a different family came about 30 minutes after us in my pathway of vision and they were serviced WAY quicker. It was extremely odd... I ended up ordering their phoenix roll. The presentation was beautiful. The flavor was okay. I added wasabi and ginger to elevate the flavor of the roll. Otherwise it was nothing special. I've been to hole in the wall sushi spots that had a better taste and quality of fish. Calamari was average, nothing memorable. It had a kick to it that was nice but nothing I am head over heels for. The house sourdough roll was good, it was NOT rock hard like some places sourdough. The salted butter was perfect to balance the acidity of the sourness from the sourdough. They did give my geriatric father a scoop of icecream with chocolate syrup and sprinkles on the house which was sweet. Overall, an average spot with amazing views of the ocean and sunset. I'm unsure if they happened to be understaffed the afternoon I went, but def need to work on the customer service.

This is a great seafood restaurant right on the marina. The inside is quite large and has an old-school, classic dining atmosphere. Our server was incredibly personable and responsive. The provided sourdough bread was amazing and tangy. For appetizers we got the calamari. It was a hefty portion with more than enough for our party of four. I loved the addition of the peppers and the two different sauces, so you could switch up the flavor. For my main I got the miso butter cod. It was heavenly! The fish melted in your mouth and the subtle sweetness and umami flavor from the miso was delicious. Lastly, I had the creme brûlée, which was excellent. The custard was perfectly creamy and smooth.

5/5 Stars Incredible sushi, gorgeous views, and top-tier service! Bluewater Grill in Redondo Beach never disappoints, but our recent visit was an absolute 10/10. If you are looking for an amazing waterfront dinner in the South Bay, this is the spot--and the sushi is seriously phenomenal. First and foremost, Kristina & I have to give a huge shoutout to our absolute favorite bartender and server, Jose Ramon. He always takes such exceptional care of us, brings great energy to the meal, and makes sure every detail is perfect. He got us started with a beautifully chilled, crisp glass of William Hill Chardonnay, which turned out to be the perfect pairing for the seafood feast we were about to have. Here is what we ordered (and highly recommend!): Spicy Charred Edamame: The ultimate starter. The pods had a gorgeous, smoky blister to them with just the right amount of spicy kick to wake up the palate. Sashimi Trio: You can immediately taste the quality of the fish here. The salmon, tuna, and yellowtail were incredibly fresh, buttery, and practically melted in your mouth. The Surfrider Roll: This was the absolute star of the show! It is packed with crispy tempura shrimp, savory krab mix, and creamy avocado. They crown the whole thing with fresh ahi sashimi and a perfect drizzle of sriracha and eel sauce. It is the ultimate flavor bomb--sweet, spicy, crunchy, and fresh all at once. Between the food, the drinks, and the unbeatable harbor views, it was the perfect night out. Do yourself a favor, order the Surfrider Roll, and make sure you ask to sit with Jose Ramon! We will definitely be back soon.

So tasty and fresh! We sat at the bar area on a Tuesday and had friendly, attentive service. We ordered the scallops, which were really yummy, and the octopus. I considered giving four stars because the octopus was smothered in a white sauce, the octopus itself was cooked to perfection, but the sauce was overwhelming. I'd recommend asking for it on the side or skipping it altogether. The tacos were good, and the cilantro rice was surprisingly delicious. The ahi tuna was missing a little something and tasted a bit bland, but the veggies were cooked perfectly. The location is a big plus, lots of seating and a beautiful view of the marina.

Excellent Excellent Excellent. So glad that we had an event here. The views are fantastic and you can feel the energy as soon as you enter. But today the star was certainly the food. Everything tasted divine and all dishes were well seasoned. From the chicken with a hint of a glaze , yummy!, to the well prepared and expertly cooked salmon down to the Mahi Mahi . Love myself a wedge salad and that too did not disappoint. There was not a complaint on any dish. Highly recommend coming here and if your timing is right you get a wonderful view of the setting sun. Bonus perk is being serenaded by the resident sea lions as they cruise up and down the marina Next visit I will try the clam chowder and I heard that the scallops are paired with goat cheese grits! What!? That will definitely be on the docket on my next visit

Happy hour... I don't have the chance to often do a happy hour, but today my wife got off early and we decided to spend our early evening at the Bluewater Grill... I am a regular here but for dinner. Well, it was great and for less... I had a couple of my usual Martinis and Normita had a glass of wine... then came the Happy hour menu... charbroiled edemame... steam shells, artichoque dip and a California tuna roll... of course we enjoyed the preview, their great bread and butter and finally a surfrider sushi roll and two Korean shell tacos... we didn't finish the tacos we took them home but, the experience was great...

We hosted our company holiday party here last week. Vida, our events planner, was great to work with. She gave so many great recommendations from uplighting, food choices, layout of the banquet room, etc. We had a casino night theme so had to incorporate casino tables with our group of 60, along with raffle gift tables. Their 2nd floor banquet facility was the perfect size for us. We chose a selection of hand passed and displayed appetizers to start. The restaurant was very accommodating with our dietary needs (vegetarian options). Their prime rib carving station did not disappoint, and the crab cakes were amazing! The bar service was great, and all servers were so professional and cordial! Will definitely consider them again in the future for larger parties!

A lovely ambience to eat quality seafood while looking at the harbor. I got the fish with asparagus and although the portion looks small, it was super filling that I couldn't finish it. Staff were attentive and friendly. Valet parking available

Last weekend, stumbled across this place because we were craving a lobster roll. I asked the ladies in the front and they said yes, so I was definately sold! We got seated inside with a view of the water, which was really nice, and we also had the hockey game on the TV in our sight, which was a definitely a bonus. We ordered the lobster roll , served warm and honestly, not too many places serve it warm it for you, but they did, so that was amazing. Our server Eli helped us, and she was the sweetest. She gave great recommendations, was super nice, and made the experience even better. Definitely somewhere I can see myself coming back to again soon!

We visited Bluewater Grill for New Year's Eve dinner. The restaurant was pretty packed when we arrived. Our waiter was nice and the food was ok, I just think we were expecting better menu options. The menu is huge but there aren't things you would expect to be on the menu at a seafood restaurant. We were all pretty underwhelmed with the menu to be honest. For instance, theres normally fish tacos on the menu at seafood restaurants, but not here. But the food was ok and the prices were decent as well. I absolutely loved the coconut margarita!

The service was great! The ambiance was okay it's a typical seafood restaurant. Very Casual, the parking was easy! The food was okay nothing extraordinary if you want a quick dinner this is the place but it is also expensive though our new york strip wasn't that good as you can see in the picture I feel like they just did a quick fry then done! i was a little bit disappointed but at the same time it is a seafood restaurant so don't order steak! The salad was okay lacking of dressing, the calamari was good along with the sweet chili sauce and finally the clam chowder was actually the best of all!

It was a beautiful August evening for our latest visit to Bluewater Grill. We dined on the patio area which was delightful. Service was excellent. Wasn't rushed through despite it being a Friday night. Everyone loved their dishes. Valet parking was prompt and courteous. The reason we keep coming back is their consistent good service, good food and good value. Cheers!

I got a mimosa to start which was good but small. I then got a Aperol spritz which was good and worth the price. I ordered the breakfast burrito with sausage. It was so yummy! My friend got the burrito with bacon but the bacon came in chunks which wasn't good. The burrito also wasn't on all of the menus so just know it's available even if it's not on the menu you have. Overall the vibe was good and the food was tasty. Make sure to book a reservation in advance otherwise you might not get a table outside.

Hubbers and I had a mid-week day free, and with a couple of pups on hand, we brainstormed and…read morethought about where to spend that free time. Hermosa Beach it is. And Hubbers suggested this place for a late-ish lunch because he's been here before and had a positive experience. Outdoor seating only since we had the furballs. We had our choice of where since we were the only customers on a late lunch hour. Servers were so patient with our pups (even when they were moody - my apologies!) and were even nice enough to bring them water bowls! It was a cool and cloudy day, but that didn't damper anything. In fact, we appreciated it coming off the heat wave from the last couple of weeks! Everything on their menu looked so good, it took me awhile to decide. But Hubbers and I agreed on the Kayak Tide Tray (+4 extra oysters) and the charred watermelon salad. In the meanwhile, I battled between lobster pasta and five dragon pastrami. (The pasta won out.) Hubbers went for the cedar planked Ora king salmon. And a couple of cocktails to wash it all down! KAYAK TIDE TRAY: The seasoned scallops were my favorites, hands down. The sauce was fantastic and didn't overpower the scallops' main essence. The oysters were shucked fresh and the sauces elevated the flavors a bit. Shrimps were chilled tender and had a nice chew. Cocktail sauce added flavor. The mussels? Sad to say, but half of them were served still frozen hard. So we took our time with it and let it thaw out which didn't happen until we were halfway our meal. Overall: excellent. CHARRED WATERMELON: This plate was so well put together! And not only is it pleasing to the eyes (nice touch with the micros!), it was the same with the palate. Watermelon was fresh. Charred only on one side (I'm curious what it would be like if they charred ALL the sides - will make this request - only if possible - next time!) Taking bites from each component of this salad makes all the difference: the acidity of the tomatoes are tempered by the burrata and the cucumbers, and the freshness of the watermelon makes it all refreshing. The onions added a bit of tart, as did the pomegranates. Didn't notice any macadamia nuts, but no matter! This is a must have! LOBSTER PASTA: Didn't happen... see below. LOBSTER ROLL: Served along with Hubbers' salmon plate (more on that later.) We had a different server at this point (our first one told us he was going on his break.) I thought Hubbers put in an order of this too, so I moved the plate to his side. Our server noticed this and said, "Are you sharing? Would you like an extra plate?" Hubbers confirmed he didn't other this. And that neither did I, but we are waiting on the lobster pasta. He then explained they are out of that dish, "was this not related to you?" Long story short, I told him I'd take the roll, no biggie. He offered to comp it, and if I like, I can put in another order. So I went for the pastrami. And as we waited for that, Hubbers and I split this and WOW. Bread was toasted and buttered perfect, generous with the amount of lobster, plating was a delight to the eyes, and overall delicious. I appreciated the aroma of the tarragon. Yum! FIVE DRAGON PASTRAMI: This is a generous serving, plenty to share with another. Lots of flavors with each bite but the well-seasoned and flavored pastrami dominates them all. The slaw was strong but the subtleness of the lappi balanced it out. Sourdough was perfectly toasted. I thought about not ordering this since I knew the lobster roll might have been enough, but I'm sure glad I went for it! Delish! Hubbers let me have a couple of bites off his salmon plate and O.M.G.!!! He sure picked a good one! Skin was seasoned crispy and the fish was so moist! This is probably one of the best versions of salmon I've had. (For the record, I rarely order anything salmon since 90-95% of the time, they're served dry, but this one here, I'd highly recommend.) FOOD: 4.75. SERVICE: 5. They were AMAZING!!! VALUE: 4. Given the location, pricing is understandable. But worth it. PARKING: Street/Structure only. All metered. And getting here will require a bit of a walk depending on where you parked. OVERALL: 4.5. Plans on coming back here with more people is now in the works. Looking forward to doing that soon!

You can tell the chefs are dedicated to the craft. They're a 2025 bib gourmand restaurant and are hoping to aim for their first star, so their efforts into the decor, ambiance, and food shows (good luck!). The waitstaff/chefs were also very attentive. Mussels Tart - really delicious. Super unique and beautifully plated. No taste of fishiness or the ocean. Just overall a 5/5 dish that you must try. Beef tongue - I normally enjoy beef tongue thinly sliced at a Korean BBQ restaurant or coarsely chopped up in a street taco. They do it differently here. The beef tongue is one big cube. It's very flavorful and tender. Not as amazing as the mussels tart but still worth a try. Chili crab - this put them on the map. SUPER DELICIOUS. It's not what you'd expect from a creation called 'chili crab'. There's no shell to be seen and the crab meat is actually buried underneath. Scoop from the inside out. Tons of flavor and I wished the portion size was doubled. Lamb pappardelle - if you like lamb then you'll love this. Lots of different spices and flavors. It has a very deep flavor profile that makes you appreciate all the work and thought that went into designing this dish. I'd get this again also! Strawberry tiramisu - they brought this out for the birthday celebration. They prepared it in a gigantic bowl. Scooped out a generous portion and plated it right in front of us. I have a soft spot for tiramisu so I'd recommend this too. Best of luck on the Michelin star! I'd come back. 5/5

I really wanted to love this place. I read all the glowing…read morereviews and convinced myself the negative ones were probably just misunderstandings... but wow, I had it completely backwards. First, the restaurant itself is undeniably cute and cozy, tucked away in a corner of Hermosa Beach. Our first impression was honestly great, and we were excited to try it. Our reservation was at 5:00 PM, but when we arrived, the staff was still inside having what looked like a team huddle or group therapy session well past opening time. At first I thought maybe I got the hours wrong and they actually opened at 5:30. Nope -- 5:00 was correct. I understand pre-shift meetings happen. But maybe do the motivational speech at 4:50 instead of making customers stand outside after your posted opening time? They finally opened the doors around 5:10. Once seated, our server introduced himself by saying he was also one of the chefs, and apparently everyone dressed in white both cooks and serves. I didn't really understand the concept, but honestly, I don't care who brings the food as long as the food is good. These are what we ordered: SQUID -- This tasted like it had been marinated directly in seawater. Painfully salty. I genuinely did not understand the dish at all. Boiled squid with egg salad? Why? The portion was tiny, and we were hungry, so we basically used the mussels tart to dilute the salt enough to finish it. MUSSELS TART -- Actually delicious. No complaints here. BISTRO SALAD -- This was honestly shocking. It was SO sour that it was practically inedible. -- we literally take straight lemon shots every morning but this dish was hard to eat. This wasn't "bright acidity." This was weaponized vinegar. Bitter, aggressively sour, and tongue-numbing after one bite. We had to send it back because it was simply not edible. CABBAGE -- Flavor was good overall, but parts of it were so burnt that I genuinely questioned whether it was intentional or someone forgot it existed in the kitchen. Maybe it's culinary art I'm too uncultured to understand. FISH DIANE -- Delicious. No complaints at all. What ultimately made us decide we won't return wasn't even the inconsistent food -- it was the attitude. They still charged us for the salad we literally could not eat after sending it back. Then the couple next to us asked to keep one menu because they planned to order more later. One of the servers told them not to leave it on the table because she didn't want the menu to get dirty. The menu was a single flimsy printed paper menu. Not leather-bound. Not handmade parchment from the 1700s. Just printer paper. The whole experience felt oddly pretentious for a place serving burnt cabbage and acid salad. Some dishes were genuinely good, but the hospitality felt nonexistent and the food was wildly inconsistent. Cute restaurant, but definitely not somewhere we'd return to.
