Boat House is normally my favorite go-to for Cajun, however, the past couple of experiences have been terrifying for me. I recently made a huge order for my cousins and I. We all shared Cajun fries, but we all had separate orders. My cousins and my sister ordered the shrimp, but I decided to get the Snow Crab legs, because they're usually my favorite thing to get. When I saw my order, I felt kind of jipped. My crab was missing 3 legs, which I was extremely disappointed at. The food was really good - I absolutely LOVE the sauce. I cannot stress this enough. Compared to other Cajun restaurants, I would say it would be my favorite; the taste is much different and unique, but unfortunately, I ended up getting food poisoning and involuntary diarrhea. I was vomiting and defecating liquids every hour. This went on for three days. I almost went to the ER, however, I opted not to because of Covid. I'm still nauseous and feeling some after effects from the food poisoning, but I'm getting better these days. Even though I love this place, I'm not quite sure if I could trust the food after this. I could handle the terrible parking lot that they have and the on and off service, but I'm pretty traumatized as of now. read more

This place was definitely a surprise for me! I was in the area waiting at another spot similar to this, a chain restaurant when I saw Boat House pop up on yelp and upon looking at the reviews and how everyone was raving about the sauce here I immediately called to ask if they had a wait and was shocked to hear they didn't have one so my friend and I made out way to the restaurant, the parking situation isn't the best but we found street parking nearby. I ordered a half pound of shrimp with the house special sauce and chicken tenders and cajun fries, and boy everyone was right, the sauce is very unique and was very flavorful, I enjoyed that it was a thick consistency which made it fun to dip my shrimp in after peeling, I even dipped some of the tenders in it. Servers were very attentive as well and made sure our drinks were filled often and that everything was going well with our meal, the decor was very nice and you can tell it's been here for quite some time and people frequent this place. read more

I'd like to say that I've been to other seafood places and this is by far the diamond in the ruff ! I'll make a list of all items I ordered, here goes, Mussels Shrimp ( with head) juicy Snow crab Lobster tail ( cut in 4) 2 pieces Cajun fried rice ( comes with Shrimp and scallops) Corn 2 Potatoes ( comes with 5) Garlic bread ( cut in 4) Michelada (corona) I ordered my items mild with the hoise special, I was told it was 2 out of 10 spicy. But to my surprise it was more like a 6 out of 10. Quite spicy. But still flavorful. I had to ask for lemon so please make sure to ask if they don't bring it. The snow crab was ordered spicy(house special)but it was actual 5 out of 10 my friend Said. I would then order medium so I can get a kick but not too much spice. Anyway. It's all good all flavors. They did being the orders in separate bags rather than all in one bag. But only because I'm comparing it to ther locations. The michelada could have uses a little bit more clamato sauce for the extra beer but it was pretty good Other than that we didn't get the moist towelettes upon receiving check. But its okay. My friend got his check and they had given him several but 2 out of 5 were dry. Nevertheless there was a restroom available. Restrooms were not the cleanest but it was decent enough to do ur Thang. My friends and I visited for the very first time, loved the decor and service was nice. We ordered some shrimps and crawfish and others, everything else was fine except for the crawfish... Current market price $14.99 was fair and we were told they were "live" crawfish so expected it to be fresh, but unfortunately 3 out of the 1lb had definitely gone bad and were a bit stinky, imagine even the cajun sauce couldn't cover the smell... This is a great cajun seafood alternative if the wait at Boiling Crab is too long! I actually really like the sauce, and they add a fair amount to your bag so it's not necessary to order extra sauce like I sometimes have to do at BC. We ordered the shrimp and crawfish in the house special sauce in spicy. The food and service was great. Wow surprisingly good! Came here at 10pm because I was craving Cajun food and nothing else is open. The decor is 90% identical to boiling crab. Originally planned to share 1lb of shrimp with my boyfriend w/ house sauce mild and we ended up getting another 1lb because it was good! We tried the mild and spicy and both are not spicy at all! Man, this place is BOMB! It is such a better alternative to Boiling Crab, which is so busy all the time. My partner has been going here for years (he LOVES shrimp), and he introduced it to me because of the long waits elsewhere. It's also right down the street from our apartment. The shrimp is always cooked well, good size, crunchy and the flavor is always on point. The mussels and potatoes are cooked well too. I'm usually the only one that will get extra sides like rice and/or sausage. My daughter is picky, but she's good with the kids menu (chicken tenders and fries) and she likes the environment and wearing the bibs! The service is good, honestly could be better, but it's not bad. I love that they always accept my takeout order right before they close, since this has happened a few times. My only complaint is I wish they were open a bit later, but it's also completely understandable due to the pandemic, as this has happened to many businesses in the area. There is barely a parking lot, but we've never had a hard time finding parking elsewhere. The restaurant is pretty spacious, I've never seen it crowded, which we LOVE. The bathroom is decent. I ordered a pound of shrimp with a couple of side and he ordered the shrimp with fries, as I was eating mine I found a hair in my bag and my boyfriend noticed and told the girl who was attending us about it and she just grabbed the hair and took it to the back. We got lunch to go for my brother's birthday. I called in a day before to have it be picked up at 12:30pm. I came by a little before 12:30pm, and it wasn't ready yet. In my opinion, I liked that because the food was ready right at 12:28pm. The food wasn't just sitting and getting cold. Came here because the wait at boiling crab was over 2 hours on a Saturday night which I'm not surprised about. I wanted to give this place a try. Their seasoning and sauce wasn't too far from my liking. Their prices were cheaper by a few dollars from BC as well! I ordered one pound of shrimp and one pound of snow crab. The snow crab was amazing. I would come back for that. On the other hand, the shrimp was NOT fresh at all. The texture of my shrimp was softer than soft tofu which meant it was not fresh at all. Shrimp should have some sort of crisp bite to it when it is fresh. I was extremely disappointed. This is now our new favorite peel & eat location in LA near us. Personally, I think it beats the Boiling crab even with more flavor and tastier sausage! There was no wait line and it had all the same feels as a Cajun experience can offer. We got the little bibs and napkins with our shrimp in a bag. Took my buddy here instead of boiling crab because I wanted him to try the difference. I actually believe this place has a unique flavor (different than most crawfish places). In total we ordered 2lbs Crawfish, 2lbs Shrimp, 12 oysters and 1lb clams (all house special spicy). Not only did we get all of the food we asked for but we also got 1 BUG!!!!!!! DISGUSTING **** When we notified our waiter she took our crawfish bag away and said she can give us a comp'd pound of crawfish. Just 1 pound ... Pretty much a knock off of the other cajun style eateries... for the price to size of seafood meat ratio, it's inaccurate. I give it a low 2.75-3 stars, but I'll give them a chance because their service was super efficient and attentive. Definitely consider the 3 out of 5 stars when you come here. Parking is a bit random because they repaved the front, but enter from the right side of the restaurant in the lot next to the Hat, pretty sure there's enough parking. Flavor-wise this place is perfectly fine, nothing unusual but it doesn't set it apart from Boiling Crab or Kickin' Crab. Ordered medium spicy house style (for all orders of) pound of shrimp, pound of crawfish, and pound of clams, plus a pitcher of beer, and calamari w/ cajun fries. That all came out to $82 something, but tell me why the crawfish is the size of my pinky? Medium is decently hot, like burn my lips hot but tolerable. If you don't like spicy I wouldn't recommend for you to get that option. Quick thing about the calamari and cajun fries. Calamari was bomb but cajun fries were so plain. I literally had to mix the seasoning with my hands so it'd be evenly distributed. The cajun seasoning was directly dropped in the middle of the fries so in the picture it looks like bare McDonald fries. Honestly though, I can understand market price varies but when you're paying for at least $16 for a pound of seafood, you'd figure it'd be good quality. The clams were okay the shrimp was on the overcooked side, but again the quality was lacking. The crawfish was pretty disappointing. If it weren't for that it'd be a higher 3.75 rating range. Honestly, the one time experience was enough for me to say it's a pretty average place that is NOT cheap. If you're trying to be cost effective, the popular places are more worth it. read more

The boyfriend and I were craving some Cajun shrimp and seafood and wanted to try something different other than the typical Boiling Crab (plus the lines are always ridiculous over there) so we stopped by Boat House to give it a shot. Their parking lot is pretty small so we had to park next door (luckily those business' were closed already). Walked in and it was fairly empty. Probably only three other parties so we were immediately seated and helped out. The waitress took our drink order and we proceeded to look through the menu. We ordered a pound of shrimp & a pound of oysters. Both with the house special (which is all of them together), and we got it medium spicy (because I can only handle so much spice). We also ordered Cajun French Fries because who can eat Cajun without getting their french fries? The order came out fairly quickly. They offer you bibs and you're welcomed to ask for gloves. They have the paper towels out for you of course, because you get hella messy. We ended up ordering a pitcher of beer which was i believe 17$? (don't quote me, i didn't pay). Their service was fantastic! Well, one girl was, the rest of them basically just followed her and walked around the room. I didn't catch her name so I can't shout her out specifically, but THANK YOU for the great service. She had the answer to every question about the food and the menu and had a great attitude with a huge smile on her face while assisting us! Overall, we had a great time! Boiling Crab will always have my heart (& stomach), but what I give Boat House points for is there is no wait time and service/staff were friendly and attentive. I got 2lbs of crawfish House Special flavor with medium spice level. Flavor could be better (the inside of the crawfish was a little bland) or maybe they need to find a way to inject the marinade into the seafood.
