Within that grouping, I will give many of them five stars if they are good at what they do; have a clean safe place, attentive staff, and decent food made the way they intended it to be made within their chain. So with all that in mind, this particular Bob Evans was just tired. Everyone moving slowly, with no enthusiasm, and it showed in the food too. The food was kind of plain, boring, and either under or overcooked. Original items like the signature banana bread they serve instead of white toast was mushy and tasteless. The soda I ordered was watered down and flat. My omelet was overcooked, and tasteless. I felt like the food was styled for a scene in a bad cop show; cooked in a trashed trailer park, along with a stack of dirty dishes and piles of old clothes and stacks of newspapers from 30 years ago. The kind of place where the cops hold their noses and wonder how someone has fallen so far from grace. A looser down on his luck and chain smoking prepared a meal as poorly as he possibly could and tossed the plates on the table fully knowing no one was going to eat it. I dined at this restaurant at 9:30 am on 3/1/26. The wait staff was fabulous. Forty after ordering my food was served mediocre and cold. This is far below the standard I expected from Bob Evan's. There's a vibe at this Bob Evans. One that says, "we're just a blink away from extinction." This is a dated, geezer friendly old school restaurant. My wife and I had never been to a Bob Evans. And not likely to return. We both ordered slow roasted Turkey melt sandwiches. My guess is they started the slow roast when we placed our order. It took close to 25 minutes before our meals were served. At $2.89 for a soft drink, I would have thought the waitress would have offered a refill. Just as well. The Diet Coke was pretty watered down. The bacon turkey melt was ok. A surprising amount of crispy bacon, with turkey, tomato & cheese. It would have been better if they'd gone easy on the butter dripping off the bread. My wife had the same sandwich, with a small bowl of vegetable beef soup, served lukewarm. She would have sent it back, but got "distracted" when a kid one table over puked on his plate. That pretty much put an end to lunch. I can't blame Bob Evans for the sideshow, but we never saw a server come to help out. So, too sum it up. Slow service. Greasy food. Lukewarm soup. Watered down Coke. Yes, it was after 7pm, but shouldn't food be as fresh from start of day to end of day? Answer should be yes! My salad was good, it was fresh and filling. Nice 1/2 size with a very hot (possibly nuked) soup. Currently have a pick 2 and my choices were good. The ice tea comes in small jars and not much to drink when thirsty. The tea was strong brewed and not very sweet. The breakfast biscuit was extra hard, harder than a brick, then covered in tons of luke warm giant sized sausage crumbles, then maybe a few tablespoons of gravy with an egg surprise, she never asked how it should be pre, so scramble it was. I think only two waitresses were working and trying to keep up. The chain has steadily failed to keep up to date and so much is not made fresh or delivered in a timely appetizing way. Gone are the big fluffy biscuits with real butter and other good eats from the past. My Cobb salad was good or maybe I was just starved. The Rise and Shine breakfast is outstanding, just enough to start your day off right. You get the best banana nut bread with your meal! I usually take it home! They have lunch specials and a great dinner menu, especially the turkey and gravy! Desserts and home made cookies and decadent desserts to take home. Bob Evans caters and offers take out as well. Our server is Tina and this lady never gets an order wrong, that's called experience! The Clarksville location occasionally has a wait but most of the time you can walk in and be seated immediately! I am giving this place a two stars and the only reason I would even give ANY stars was because of our amazing waitress. I believe her name was Sharon. Anyway we started off good, both my husband and I had a mimosa which was great. We ordered our food and it did take quite a bit of time. Probably about 20-25 minutes. We literally got a little bit of everything. We had eggs, bacon, sausage links and Pattie's, biscuits and gravy, French toast. For the most part the food was very good. Now here is where it goes down hill. There are these TWO employees one named Brittany that was screaming at the top of her Lungs. And the reason I know that is because she kept repeating her name over and over again. And another employee. Which I believe we're managers. We're arguing with each other right in front of the whole restaurant. In a complete screaming match. I thought that was absolutely horrible and what a terrible environment for these waitress to work in. They should be ashamed of themselves. And I will be contacting corporate about these two employees. Because everything was going great until there was a screaming match between two employees, and nothing was done about the situation either. They just kept screaming at one another like they were not even in the middle of a restaurant. I believe they get upset at us taking a table for more than an hour, but we tip well to compensate for any missed income they may have. The food is mediocre, but it's Bob Evans, not Ruth's Chris. The ham and anything with ham will be salty. Everything else will need salt. The pancakes are better than average. The glasses for soda are just too small, and refills are slow in coming. After an hour, you will stop getting refills -- even coffee. Subtle hint, unlike the death stare from the cook. The restaurant attracts an older crowd, so avoid around 4 p.m. You'll have the place to yourself after 7 p.m. Grits are served until 11 a.m. and pot pies disappear fast after 4 p.m. It is clean, as are the restrooms. You can't ask for much more than that at a chain such as this. read more

I hate to update my review, but 3 more experiences makes me feel like I should. Once, they forgot my biscuits and gravy and our cappuccinos were given to us lukewarm. Stopped in for a quick meal the other night. We walked in to be seated at a table that had clearly not been wiped down. You could see the rings from prior cups, sugar or salt, wrappers. We sat for a moment, waiting for the employee to come back by to ask for a new or a wipe down. We said we were not going to wait and the hostess practically begged us to stay. She said 'It will be the same wherever you go'. How does she know? We finally got seated and our waitress took our order, but it was 30 minutes before we got our food. The hostess just stood around, then walked around. Why not help your servers bus some tables? They had no one else busing tables. Very sad. This location may be heading down the same road as the New Albany location. And how about a sign saying you are hiring, because you apparently need help! This place was horrible. Not only was the service poor, they served all but one of us only half of our meals. Half of us ordered mashed potatoes and they were still cooking them after most everyone had finished eating. The broccoli was hard and cold. I got my steak with two tablespoons of seasoned salt dry on top. I had two bites of my steak and was sick feeling from all the seasoned salt. My sister didn't even get to eat her meal because it didn't come out until we were ready to leave (after talking to the manager). The manager stated she had to lock the doors to close 45 minutes early because of her kitchen staff and how many complaints she had gotten. She had to fire staff while we were there. She gave every excuse in the book to make it not her fault. Never once did we see her on the floor, making sure her costumers were happy. Probably because she knew no one in that restaurant was happy. She did comp half our check (which had 9 meals on it) and comped the meal that did not get consumed. But that's because half of it was never on the table. Then we leave and read the sign in the door, looks like someone needs to go back to school. Surprisingly she spelled circumstances right, but that's about it. Wish we would've gotten there after they had locked the doors. Definitely was not somewhere anyone in Indiana should ever go. I've eaten here several times, and on the rare occasion I've had an issue it has been handled quickly and professionally. 4 stars may seem high for a chain-type place, but I feel this one deserves it. read more

Not happy with this location, as I have stopped by here several times recently and again tonight to p/u some carry out, but they closed early. I can understand closing early if bad weather but this is not the case. Their posted hours are til 9pm every night! I stoped in tonight at 8:450pm, and it is Friday night when most restaurants stay open later to at least 10. But not this location. It seems to be difficult to get them to even stay open til 9, their posted hours of business. As I said I can understand under some circumstances, but not on a a Friday night when weather is mild. I headed to Bob Evans on Sunday night after reading that their Grilled Chicken Breast with Baked Potato and Broccoli was rated one of the 25 healthiest restaurant dishes. At just 418 calories for the entire meal I thought I would try it. I suppose when you remove all of the sauce, butter, and flavor from food it gets a bit healthier. However, there has to be a way to make food low calorie without turning it into a piece of plain dry chicken, dry baked potato, and plain broccoli right? What we didn't know was that breakfast had been sitting there all day, including the biscuits. My friend ordered the hash browns well done and they were. A flat single layer of Chrissy, no hash browns in the middle. My sampler plate was ok, but only that was hot was the egg.
