Ok my disclaimer here is that my partner and I are both from the west coast and had never been to a Bob Evans before. We found ourselves in the area of this location one Saturday morning and decided to finally give it a try. This location was conveniently located off the highway and has ample parking. The menu is huge with a variety of offerings. The fact that they serve breakfast all day is always a big plus to me. It was fairly clean, bright and airy.We were seated promptly and our server was really good and very attentive. I had the country fried steak and eggs and my partner had biscuits with eggs and gravy. I was pleasantly surprised to see that we got two different kinds of gravy and both were very good. The white gravy was delicious and perfect for my meal. The sausage gravy was likewise delicious and flavorful. A little strong for my taste but my two bites were very satisfying! Pretty sure we liked home fries better than the hash browns.... Anyway, as newbies we enjoyed our meal and it felt like everything was appropriately priced. As far as breakfast chains go, I think it's a pretty good spot. read more

I stopped at Bob Evans more than 2 weeks before Thanksgiving to order our dinner for a 12 noon pickup on Thanksgiving. I asked the cashier if I needed to pay today and he said, "no, you pay when you pickup your order". I called to confirm my order 2 days before Thanksgiving. My husband arrived at Bob Evans about 11:45 and was told it would be about 40 minutes, so he paid for the order, and was told there are no refunds once you pay. Long story short, people kept coming and going and waiting a long time for their order. My husband did not get our order filled until 2:15 pm with nothing said, but, I'm sorry! This is totally bad management! There should have been a cutoff after a certain amount of orders. The manager could have at least offered a $10 gift card or a certain percentage off their order that day. I realize that Thanksgiving is a busy day. My husband and I had just had surgery, otherwise, I would have cooked dinner. I have never ordered out on a holiday and I will probably never do it again. This was a totally horrible experience and I will think twice about going back to this Bob Evans. I hope the manager uses this as a learning experience. read more

Stopped in on a late Sunday morning with a party of 6. After a 20 minute wait we were seated. Unfortunately, there were only 4 chairs at the large round table. Our hostess had to radio someone else for permission to add 2 chairs to our table... I asked if 2 of us were supposed to stand and eat. This decision process took 2 minutes! Our waitress was lovely and did warn us the kitchen was backed up. Not surprising for a Sunday morning. I will say it took a bit longer than expected. To the tune of almost 30 minutes... yikes! Every Sunday I get curbside service. Usually - everything is spot on but the past month has been off. When I attempt to address it in person - I get the usual sorry, thank you for business talk. Over the past month, I called to alert the staff I was there for my food at the time they said it would ready and had to call again 20 minutes later to get the food. Other times, the food has been burnt and things were missing. Today - they again forgot items. I am going to give this Bob Evans a break for a while. We were in a rush to drive out of town - 5 hrs drive, so the extra time and concern over the order was not needed. Items were fine, typical Bob Evans breakfast, but lack of attention to detail. Bob Evans used to be one of my favorite places to eat, but I will never eat there again. In the past year I have been to four different locations, the one in Willoughby was the last, and had poor service and bad food in all of them. In one location I waited 90 minutes to get a hamburger and fries after sending it back to the kitchen three times! In Willoughby, the staff seemed more interested in chatting with their co-workers than waiting on their customers. I ordered fried chicken breasts and well-done French fries. The chicken had obviously been cooked long before I ordered it and reheated. The skin was tough, hard to cut and the chicken tasted burnt. The fries were lukewarm and had probably been sitting in the fry basket for a while. The waitress dropped off the food, left the check and disappeared. I didn't see her until the end of the meal. Thats probably why she left two glasses of Pepsi so I didn't have to ask for a refill. If the wait staff was overworked, or the kitchen backed up with orders, its managements fault for not providing enough staffing. Anyone who manages a restaurant knows when the busiest times are and should staff accordingly. read more

I wanted so badly to not believe the hype of this location only receiving a 2 star rating here on Yelp. I had hope. Everything was going good. My mom and I were promptly seated. The hostess even taking note that my mom was disabled and seated us appropriately. Kudos for that. It was dinner time on a Monday, so it was moderately busy. Our server was prompt and friendly, at first. Our food came out quickly. My eggs did arrive pretty much cold, with the tiniest amount of cheese on them. The home fries were luke warm at best. I didn't complain because I was in super hangry mode and didn't want to wait to have it remade, so I soldiered through it. Not that our waitress even came back to check on us. She straight up disappeared. I got no refills on my coffee the entire time I was eating. After about 20 minutes, she came back to check on us when we were already done eating. I was getting irritated at that point. If she was on a break, someone should have been covering for her. Nope. I had placed an order with her for a to go dinner, um, so I thought. When I asked her about it, she said "Oh, I'll go ahead and put that in for you. It'll be about 10 minutes if that's alright?" Geez, I didn't have much of a choice on that matter. Stood in line and to make a long story short did not receive our order until after 7:00. That is totally unacceptable. They couldn't find our order after a half hour. Went to this Bob Evens last weekend because I was in the area on Saturday and my goodness, it was great! Our waitress was so kind and helpful. They introduced a new brunch menu so clearly I had to try. I got the pot roast hash, my boyfriend got the steak and egg and we both loved our meals. We also got the new candied bacon that it's basically beef jerky dipped in syrup and it was heaven. From a marketing stand point, they definitely did a bit of rebranding to make it more trendy and I think it was a hit. They use mason jars for their cups and elevated their menu options. In three minutes, she was back to deliver the drinks and take the food order. Time to bring all the food was about 10 minutes, and each entree was hot and almost exactly as ordered. The one error was corrected expeditiously. I have read the other reviews and determined that there could be some inconsistency at this location, but on our visit, everything was great. The service isn't consistent and neither is the food for being a chain restaurant. I tried an item menu that was different tasting than the same one I had last week. Typically the hostess is no longer found at the hostess desk, but running around he restaurant in the role of a busser....because BE doesn't think they need bussers any longer. BE.....LISTEN UP! You need a busser AND a hostess. I seated myself at the counter because I didn't intend to be there long, and figured I'd have a cup of coffee while I waited. Not one employee who walked by me ( and they all walked by me because I was sitting at the counter) greeted me or asked if I needed anything or offered me water. NADA. Finally, after approximately 10-15 minutes of sitting there a girl looked at me and said, "You ready to order now?" Um.... is that how you speak to a guest? If I had been planning on placing an order it would have been a little too late, AND, I probably would have changed my mind with the way you asked me. BE, your "servers" could use some social skill tutoring. I did use the ladies room while I waited. Not filthy, but not clean by anyone's standards. There wasn't many people there at all and i still had to wait to be seating. Not sure where the hostess took off to. I new exactly what i wanted for breakfast so i didn't think it would take long to get food. It took several minutes for the waitress to come to table. I was ready to order everything but she asked if i wanted coffee and took. It took her a while to get back with the coffee and i told her i was ready to order. Bob Evan's on 91 in Willoughby was absolutely terrible. 45 minutes after our order was taken, we asked where our food was. We were told "well, it's a big table". An 18 top is a big table, not 8. She gave excuses that one meal was the reason, then it was a different meal. One of our table members got mad and stormed out (not me). That's when the manager came out with an attitude, and claimed that it had only been 16 minutes since we ordered. I told him the exact time we ordered, and then showed him the current time. He canceled the meal of the person that walked out, and that was it. He then went into hiding. Nobody could find him to approve the veterans discount, and to remove the Green Beans that I never received. This was piss poor management and a shoddy wait staff. The waitress got an attitude with us, and made excuses. The manager was afraid of us so he made himself scarce.
