The mango woodear crystal is the most popular drink and it is #1 for a reason. It is super flavorful and has a strong mango flavor. I really like the texture of the woodear and blue boba as well. Wait is a bit longer than most boba shops and if you want to get food then expect at least 15 minutes. Parking is available in a small garage behind the store or on the street. read more

A new boba shop opened up in Alhambra and it's not bad! I decided to give them a try after eating dinner in the area and I'm glad that I did! The place seems like a nice study spot, the music is not blazingly load and there are a good amount of tables available. The unique drink here is the woodear crystal drinks with blue boba. This was probably my first time trying woodear and it was good! In addition, the drink has a pretty aesthetic, get those pictures in! The price is a bit steep, so I'll come back once in a while. We always pass by this place en route to Costco, but only remember it once we have already driven past. We decided to finally give it a try and have been back at least once already. They have some interesting drinks, and what's best is the drinks match the pictures with layers of colors. I highly recommend the Pink Matcha, which is matcha with strawberry milk, and their signature drink Mango Woodear Crystal. The Pink Matcha has quite a strong matcha taste despite the strawberry, so you know they don't skimp out on the tea. It also was not overly sweet. Now, I have never heard of woodear crystal, though I have eaten woodear in Chinese dishes. I like the crunchy texture and, though it was hard for me to imagine it in a boba drink, decided to go for it. It's no wonder this is one of their signature drinks. The mango flavor was so fragrant because of the little bits of mango they put in the drink. It also comes with blue boba (mostly for aesthetics because I didn't taste it much). I'd suggest ordering with less sweet, but other than that, the woodear texture meshed well with the whole drink. Hoping to try their foods next time too! This is my go to boba spot since moving to Alhambra. I love almost everything on the menu but the wheel cakes are a must try. I stopped here for boba while getting lunch. I noticed that Bobacraft has some very creative and unique drinks, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the matcha woodear crystal boba, 1/4 sugar, no ice. I ended up sharing the drink with my wife, so we can both try the flavors without worrying about drinking too much sugar. I generally like my drinks to be light on sweetness, and the 1/4 sweetness was great for my wife and me. The crystal boba added that extra bit of sweetness if it wasn't strong enough. We visited this new boba spot on a weekday night and were surprised by the interesting drinks and toppings! Perhaps the most interesting thing was the Woodear crystal. The owner was nice enough to let us try it before we committed to it. If you don't know what that is, woodear is a type of chewy fungus. This is a silver type that's often found in those Chinese herbal desserts. If Chinese old wives tales are to be believed, it's supposed to be good for your skin. We ordered the dirty milk tea which is very chocolatey and delicious, and the pink cloud. The latter is made with whip cream which was also sprayed on the side of the cup which looked like clouds on a pink sky. The boba is not too syrupy. The space has a modern aesthetics plenty of tables for people to study at work while sipping or snacking on their orders. The guy behind the counter told me to get 75% sugar with the matcha cloud because it is not a very sweet drink, but next time I would definitely try it with less (or perhaps even 0%) sugar because the brown sugar boba blast that I tried had 0% sugar and was still quite sweet and I definitely could have gone less sweet on my drink. Ordered through postmates, so I couldn't check if my drink had it or not unfortunately. Other than not having my woodear crystal, the flavor is there. I got 30% sweetness... just a warning the strawberry portion is REALLY sweet still (i would rate it as 100% sweetness for the strawberry). Matcha portion was not sweet at all, so it balanced well. The good: I want to give this place a 3.5 stars. There's a free drink upgrade with Yelp check-in! Of course, I didn't know this until afterward. The interior is spacious with tall ceilings and plenty of space. Their menu offered a lot of food and rice plate options. They had desserts too. They feature a special cream custard wheelcake that is made fresh to order. I wanted to try it but they said it was a 15 minute wait and I didn't have that time to spare because I was on a work lunch break. I got the popcorn chicken with mild heat and loved the amount of heat it packed. It was spicier than I expected but it was satisfying. The chicken tastes like the popcorn chicken I had at Q-cup when working there during high school. The chicken is made fresh to order as well. I tried an orange basil green tea and liked that there were pieces of orange pulp. I liked that I could adjust the sweetness and ice with my drink. The bad: The chicken was great but tastes like most other boba chicken spots. It wasn't my favorite popcorn chicken I've had but this doesn't mean that it was bad either. My wait for my chicken and drink order took around 17 minutes. It was longer than I expected though I know that my chicken was made fresh from raw chicken. The jasmine tea flavor is pretty concentrated tasting here (so stronger flavor). My drink had a lid that wasn't super tight so it ended up spilling in my car. I didn't taste the basil in the drink. The interesting: They have a cloud series here that's basically a slushy with milk ice scattered through the drink to give the appearance of a cloud. It's caffeine-free (except for the matcha one) and it's a great option for the kiddos. read more

I ordered the pink matcha (which is essentially strawberry matcha) at 50% sugar with boba. The boba was pretty much as close to perfect as you can get. It had a nice sweetness and the perfect amount of chew. The strawberry syrup uses real strawberries which automatically bumps it above places that primarily uses artificial syrups. The one downside of Bobacraft is the speed in which they churn out drinks is a little slow. I waited close to 10 mins at a time when there weren't that many people. Overall, Bobacraft offers a very solid strawberry matcha drink on par with places like Boba Guys, and I wouldn't hesitate to go back if I am in the area. read more

Stopped by to get my post dinner boba fix. I had passed by Boba Craft multiple times but haven't had a chance to try it until now. The place isn't too crowded and since it's located on Main St., I highly suggest parking in a lot and just walking to the place. Main St. parking in general can be a bit of a hassle. When you first walk in, you'll definitely notice that the shop is quite small. It's a cute little shop with some tables that are good to study or sit and talk with friends. The service is super friendly and they are happy to explain their drinks to you. What I like about Boba Craft is their selection of unique drinks. For example, the Woodear Crystal drinks (Chinese white fungus) and their Cloud drink series, to name 2. I really wanted the Woodear drinks and I love strawberry so I decided to go with that. It is so so so good! The blue boba was sweet and chewy, the Woodear had a nice crisp crystal crunch to it (the texture is like thin sheets if agar agar jelly), the milk and the strawberry went nicely together. I think they use real strawberry because I got some seeds (which I don't mind at all). Boba Craft definitely left a good impression on me and I would love to come back and try more of their menu. read more

Another new boba place popping up in the 626. There are so many these days that boba shops have to find ways to distinguish themselves. At Bobacraft, they have blue bobas and wood ear as toppings, which I have not seen before. I ordered the Matcha Woodear Crystal and received a free upgrade with my Yelp check in. The total came to 5.75, which is on par with the prices these days for these "fancier" drinks. The drinks came out super fast. While waiting for my drink, I suddenly remembered that I forgot to customize my sugar, but one sip of my drink made me wish I told them to add sugar. It didnt taste sweet at all; the matcha has that standard matcha taste that's a bit bitter. There was a little sweetness from the boba and the woodear, which adds a very interesting texture to this drink. I'm not sure if I would come back just because there are so many other boba places available closer to me. The blue bobas dont taste special, but if you're looking for a nice Insta-worthty pic, these drinks here will get you that. read more

If you are looking for the best Taiwanese wheelcake, come to Bobacraft. Their wheelcake is absolutely amazing. Cake itself was crispy, fluffy and buttery. Filling was also delicious. My favorite is their Espresso and Cheese (seasonal) flavor. Make sure to eat it fresh, you will get those tangy cheese like you saw on the TV when you take the first bite. While browsing Yelp for boba shops, I came across this one that has promising reviews and was lured in by how pretty their drinks looked (also, yes, blue boba definitely looked interesting). The shop's interior, especially with the tables pushed towards the wall (with the cute pink sign), reminded me of a long hallway. There were a few other customers there, but overall it was a bit challenging to maintain the 6 ft distance. I wanted to try their obanyaki, but I saw reviews that said it takes too long to get the order. So instead, we got the peach woodear crystal boba and mango green tea. It took a bit longer than expected to get our drinks. There were some other people waiting as well near us (one person had a big order of obanyaki and other snacks with drinks), so it felt a bit claustrophobic. Drinks: even though my bf got less sweetness for his mango green tea, it was waaaaaay too sweet (perhaps due to the mango jam). I'd recommend 0% sweetness. He wanted a light drink, but it ended up being a bit overwhelming. I went for the hype (woodear crystal), and trust me, I know it may seem weird to have woodear (typically used in savory (side) dishes) in a drink, but it worked surprisingly well for me. Cute little shop. Staff was really nice and attentive. I ordered on Yelp via GrubHub(?) and it stated a longer wait time than it actually took so I'm glad I stopped in earlier. The matcha w red bean was good and my favorite wheelcake flavor so far is the matcha red bean wheelcake. The size of the wheelcakes are pretty big and there's a good ratio of filling to cake.
