I was craving some boba when my bf suggested Cha time in RWC. The only Cha time I have ever had was in Chinatown so I thought I'd give it another try. This place is located in downtown right next to the Museum and old court house. Parking is hard to find, however I stayed in the car at the Chase nearby when he walked to get the boba. I really wanted a sea salt creama tea and they happened to have it however they call it mousse. I got an oolong creama tea with 30 % sugar and 30% ice. At a lot of locations, the 30% ice means nothing to them, they still load up on ice. So I have to give a big shout out that they didn't give me all that ice. The mousse, I loved it. I have it when people mix it for me I like to drink a bit of the mousse and work my way into the tea. They serve 2 different sizes - regular and large. A regular is a little under $4 whereas a large is around $4.35. I came here recently again and let me tell you - the man that works there is SO AMAZING! He always says "my dear", "easy", "okay" like talk about attitude and customer service. He makes the place deserve a 5 STAR. Absolutely love his energy! Definitely deserves a 5 star. read more

This is my favorite kind of boba shop.. quick, simple menu, flavors come with matching fluorescent color powders, and plastic heat sealed cups. Not sure if anything changed since it was branded as Chatime, but I love it. I don't want cups sturdy enough to last for years. I don't want a fancy lid that is not water tight for easy transportation. I want a bright flavor powder and non dairy creamer mixed into some tea Sweetness level is pretty high, so go one notch lower than you usually do. Otherwise, great service, great tea. read more

This tiny boba joint is in the plaza right next to the San Mateo County History Museum. A decent place to go to for that old school boba craving. If you want something "upscale", go to Teaspoon instead. Read bean pearl milk tea: milk tea with red bean and boba. Can you update a review multiple times? Let's see if this works. Anyway, I just went back to Bobalicious again today and yes it's still tasty. It's still one of our favorite bubble tea shops in the Bay Area. I always get the pearl milk tea at 30% and the consistency and sweetness are great. I'd say this is close to perfect for the sweetness I want (not super sweet but not bland). The pearls are also nice and chewy. Service is always really friendly too. I also like its location. They closed off the neighboring street to cars and we are usually on that street for food or movies, so it's always a breeze to walk from that street to the plaza where Bobalicious is located. read more

Just opened back up after being closed due to shelter-in-place (I think). I'm surprised I haven't written a review yet because this is one of my favorite boba places! The stand-out item is the watermelon juice, made with fresh watermelon. No need for extra sugar--the watermelon is sweet enough on its own. You know what else is sweet? The employee/owner running the shop! He is so dang jolly and energetic, you'll think he's getting high off his own supply. So glad they're back up and running! I do like Gong Cha and Happy Lemon, but during this time, I try to support small, local businesses as much as possible. I think bobalicious is a Chatime franchise but whatever, I like this guy because he/his business partner(s) are pretty smart to be running a boba place out of a little window in the middle of downtown Redwood City. I'm sure the rent is still expensive, but not as expensive as a storefront. This observation has nothing to do with the quality or value of their product. I just think it's really smart of them to have a small window front in a heavily trafficked area. I have smart-business envy. I got my usual coffee milk tea (30% sugar & ice) & my partner got peach milk tea with strawberry jelly (30% - this jelly was outstanding). Super delicious & not too sweet!! Forever driven by cravings for boba, I stopped by chatime. I got a lychee black tea with half coconut jelly and half boba, no sugar added, and 100% ice. The tea and the toppings were really good. The only thing I'd do differently would be to take less ice (maybe 50% or 75%). Overall, the employees seemed nice. The price to portion seemed reasonable and comparable to other boba places. They do charge 70 or 75 cents extra for toppings, but you can do mixed toppings (hence why I got half boba, half coconut). Only two of the drinks on the menu come with toppings by default. There was a variety of options to choose from, which was excellent but also overwhelming. The one downside is no indoor seating but that's ok because lots of outdoor seating, excellent location, and (most importantly) delicious tea! Will certainly come again. read more

I ordered a honey milk tea, half sweet, half ice. I like that they asked me what I prefer instead of just assuming the default. However, they tried so hard and got so far, but in the end, it didn't even matter (sorry, couldn't help myself). Honestly, I could only taste watered down milk with some kind of sweetener. Whatever it was, it didn't taste anything like honey. I also couldn't taste the tea. Either they diluted the tea too much, it was brewed too long ago and diluted by the ice, or there was no tea as far as I'm concerned. Out of honey, milk, and tea for over 5 bucks, I could only taste the milk (powder?). My cynical side is almost convinced that whatever you order would be the same thing, except maybe a different combination of pumps. Honeydew milk tea? I doubt they have a honeydew pump. Maybe it wouldn't have been a big deal if it were 2 dollars cheaper. But with a number of boba places even on the same street, it seems Bobalicious' claim to fame is location, location, location! read more

I think they have only one blender and they had to work through a huge back log of blended drinks before mines. Redwood City has never really had any good boba spots whenever I visited the area and it's sad to say I think that's still the case. I tried there Jasmine milk tea with boba. The Jasmine flavor was very flat and bubble balls are very coarse not having that chewy texture good boba balls have. Unless you're in a pinch and you really want a boba and you're in the area I guess I can recommend this place but if you can drive the couple more miles to another city to get better boba I highly recommend doing that. read more

The window to order is on the side facing the square and the pickup window is facing Broadway street. My go-to drink is definitely the Chatime Roasted Milk Tea. I normally go for 50% ice and either 50% or 80% sweet depending on my mood. Their boba here is pretty good and goes well with any drink! I also enjoyed the oolong milk tea, peach green tea and mango green tea. Service here is quick, even on busy days, and the workers are always nice and friendly. It didn't look appealing for me at first and we were going to leave to look for another bubble Tea shop until I saw the perfect rating on the Yelp app. We stayed. The drinks were good. I had watermelon slush without any additional sugar added. Watermelon is in season and it was fresh indeed. I have seen this place nearly every single time I visit Redwood City and am so sad it has taken me until now to finally visit and try their tea. Their quality of boba is comparable to their neighbor Tea Time, pretty average and satisfying to your boba craves. But what was most exceptional was the friendliness and service. Today it got to 83 degrees and these poor, sweet people work in an un-airconditioned little box all day and even in this environment they made me feel so welcomed, and they really cares about my experience and tea.
