Fantastic place to grab a quick drink! My favorite part is that you can ask for 0% sweetness even on their special drinks. 0% is by far enough because the honey boba and the creme brulee foam by themselves are already sweet. I got the Ube Astra which was packed with ube and coconut, absolutely delicious. The creme brulee foam didn't integrate super well with the rest of the drink and I'd recommend just blending it in directly next time. Honey boba on the bottom was super tasty and always a fun challenge to try and snipe the last few boba off the bottom of the cup with the straw. I used to love this place and was a regular but it seems like they're struggling to maintain quality, and with so many competitors around there are other options. Recently, I'm bummed to see the crystal Boba go, and we swapped over to a honey crystal Boba. It seems like corporate has become more commercial, sacrificing quality. Stopped by Teaspoon this afternoon and it hit the spot. The inside is cute,bright, clean, and perfect for grabbing a quick drink or hanging out for a bit. The staff was friendly and helped double check our order to make sure it was correct. They also have the option to order on the touch screen kiosk with snackpass and the staff will call your number when your order is ready. I got the Silky Mango, I'm obsessed. It's smooth, refreshing, and not overly sweet, just the right balance. The mix of mango with a creamy twist makes it feel almost like a dessert, but way lighter. It also comes with honey boba. It was the perfect refreshing drink for a warm day. Definitely coming back to try more drinks, but cant go wrong with the Silky Mango. There is parking around the redwood city downtown area, but the lots can get crowded. There is limited indoor seating, just a few tables so i would recommend ordering to-go. there are also a lot of restaurants nearby within walking distance so its a great drink option after a meal! When this place first opened, it was a refreshing moment for the boba scene. A local place that explores fruity flavours and use premium dairy products, it was a step above some of the run of the mill boba places, and I find the flavour profiles better than Boba Guys (I grew up with boba back in Taiwan so shush). My cousins from Taiwan think it's pretty decent. Now that the dust has settled a bit, with Teaspoon expanding into some other cities, it is no longer the newcomer darling but I do still like their seasonal fruity flavours, and their honey boba. However, the quality can waver a bit and it's no longer as consistent. When it's good, it's so darn good! When it's average it bums me out a bit. I frequent Teaspoon's and their drinks are always great. Today I got the house milk tea with boba and the grasshopper. The milk tea is always good, but it was my first time trying to grasshopper (lychee green tea with cucumber juice). It was super refreshing and perfectly sweet for me at 50%. The other day I placed an order on the phone and they didn't even have my drink. Called DoorDash and cancelled the order. DoorDash came back on the phone (after they contacted Teaspoon) and said they have your order. I replied I am on the highway already cancel my order. Another day went in to pick up my order. They said macha wasn't made today it'll be just a minute. After 5-6 minutes, I asked again about my order. Person yelled back to someone in the back area. "Is the macha ready!?" COVID-19 update: So the one craving that has been hard to satisfy during shelter-in-place is boba. Today I knew I'd be out in Redwood City anyways, so I figured I'd give Teaspoon a try. I placed an order through Yelp/Grubhub, not totally sure if it would work since I tried the online ordering at some point last year and they weren't accepting online orders. Fortunately this time I received confirmation of my desired pick-up window. I parked nearby and walked over. Everyone making drinks was wearing masks. The front door was propped open, and just inside there was a table set up to block people from coming in. There was a bag with my name on it so I picked it up and was on my way. Not the most impressive bubble tea and expensive. I've been here a few times and the selection is ok. Ok selection of add ins such as tapioca or puddings. You can adjust ice on anything, but be warned you cannot adjust sweetness on a number of orders such as the Thai tea or the caramel cream drink . I'm not a huge fan of super sweet drinks so not being able to adjust sweetness is a pretty big con. I recently had the creamy jasmine and at 25% sweetness it was already plenty of sugar. Some drinks also taste kinda artificial like the caramel cream. Tea flavor is not too strong and the bits of fresh strawberries add the perfect sweetness. Teaspoon offers many toppings such as popping boba, which is not available at most boba shops. I always have to go inside to check if my order is ready because they seem to forget to update the status as complete until an hour later. I've gotten a few different drinks before including the Japanese Rice milk tea, Earl Grey Milk Tea, House milk tea, and Roasted Oolong Milk Tea. I decided the Honey Oolong Milk Tea (75% sweet & regular ice) with Almond pudding is my favorite and my go to. The Honey Oolong give the drink a savory complex sweetness that isn't overly sweet but just the right amount and the Oolong flavor gives just the right balance to counter the sweetness. And of course Almond pudding is my favorite so, of course, I need to add that everytime.
