Amazing food and friendly service. If you have friends and family from out of town, this is the place to take them to. Don't be intimated by the prices. They're very reasonable and portions are huge, enough for leftover lunch or dinner the next day. I have been trying their baby back ribs and briskets before, but this time I decided to try their burger. It's a thick piece of Chuck with caramelized onions, cheese and thick pieces of bacon covered with their delicious BBQ sauce. Burger is $21, but if you do the math, a fast food burger with bacon and thick piece of processed meat (likely a double whatever) will cost about $12-$14. Then you get fries for $5 and you're already at $19 with the fast food burger. At Bobby Q, you get a complimentary corn bread with semi-sweet soft butter, a great burger enough to have 1/2 for your meal and the other portion for next day lunch/dinner. Also when you leave, they give you some freshly made sugar donuts. This is an awesome deal and a great place to go. Ambiance is what you expect from a BBQ place, so I can't complain, but it's not Four Seasons, if that's what you're looking for. Yet the service and food overshadows anything else. My family and I were on a road trip from California and my boyfriend was craving some barbeque so we happened to find this spot on yelp. I normally don't care for barbeque but this spot really impressed me. Location: (Mesa) The restaurant is located right off the 17 freeway. You have to drive down a small street that gives off alleyway vibes, but there's a fairly big sign that will indicate to you where to turn into to get to the restaurant. They have a nice big parking lot, with lots of parking, so no need to fear. Ambience and décor were very nice, quite a southern western feel to it. They had plenty of patio place which I am thankful for because this is the time of COVID. What we got: Sliced BBQ Beef Brisket Sandwich with a side of BEER FRIES SUPER TENDER. 10/10 Would eat again! The beef brisket was marinated very well. It was so moist and tender! BBQ flavor was on point! My boyfriend got the BEER FRIES as a side and HOLY SMOKES YOU HAVE TO TRY THEM! They are absolutely delicious!! Wood Fire Top Sirloin with potato salad and vegetable of the day Once again marinated very nicely. The steak had a nice smokey flavor to it. I had gotten the vegetable of the day which was a grilled broccolini and that was amazing beyond words! I normally don't like vegetables but I ate it up happily! I also got the potato salad but that was meh. Two Meat Combo with Baby Back Ribs and Beef Brisket. Side of mashed potato and vegetable of the day. Those baby back ribs are the BEST baby back ribs I have EVER had in my life. TENDER TENDER TENDER and oh so delicious! It paired really well with the broccolini and mashed potato! Return visit a few years later, this time with friends. We arrived at 6:30 on a COVID Friday and waited about 10 mins for a table. Our server, Leanne, greeted us immediately and offered menus plus water. We ordered a sirloin steak, salad, baked potato and glass of Chardonnay for my wife, whilst I got the filet minion, along with Mac N Cheese, roasted corn and an iced tea. Both steaks came with onion strings and totaled $88.50 for our part. Leanne was very attentive to our needs and really did an outstanding job. After looking at the six plates around the table, the only thing that wasn't devoured was 1/4 of a salad. This place is incredible! I live in Scottsdale & honestly I'm a little weary about the Phoenix area so it's really rare that I even come out here but when I saw this place online I knew I had to make the trip & check it out. Where do I begin? This place reminds me of a fancy renovated barn. It's nestled in a hidden parking lot surrounded by beautiful trees. It looked like a little oasis with the misters on outside & string lights. They also have a cute little American truck outside you can take pics with! The mood inside the restaurant was just right with a very prestine atmosphere, dim lighting, and an OFF THE CHARTS playlist with amazing country & classic rock hits. I definitely enjoyed singing along while eating their incredible house made sweet hot cornbread. Definitely some of the best cornbread I ever had. The booths seated along the windows are my fave. Now for the best part, THE FOOD. My man & I shared the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes & an extra side of mac n cheese. Everything was perfect! These chefs really know what they are doing. The chicken was so tender like butter and fried to perfection, so crispy. Not too hard, not too soft it was just right! For a place that is "made from scratch", seems everything is pretty good; except the actual BBQ. This was our third visit in two years, if that is any indication. Food: Decided to order the special (Chille Relleno) which I typically order when I see it on any menu. The portion was fair for $20, but the chilies were covered in some disgusting sauce that I couldn't even figure out. On top they had a 4 small slices of overly fatty brisket. The 5 of us had various options off the menu, but not a single person was impressed. We have come back trying to see what we are missing from the rest of the folks, but seems it's just not for us. So what's good here? The brisket taquitos are very good, the onion log is greasy, but good; the best would be the cornbread! Let's not forget the exit donuts. Service: On our last visit it was excellent! Overall: Would we be back? Maybe at some point, but no hurry. Prob will end up getting some apps and skip the bbq choices. My Ribeye cooked as ordered, medium rare, and was good, but not worth $50. The steak was juicy, but Chewy, with lots of string connecting tissues, and served lukewarm, with no sizzle, and bark. I've driven past this place tons and finally decided to stop. Let me say, I don't understand the hype. The food was good overall but the staff really disappointed us. We had made a reservation and the girl at the front was rude right away. We asked twice what she had said since it was loud and she was even ruder. We waited an additional 20 minutes to be seated although having a reservation. Our waitress was nice but we saw her three times total in our 2 hour meal. The rolls were amazing and the Cajun shrimp, delicious! But the worst part of our meal was the HEAT! It was so freaking hot that we ate about a quarter of our meal. We were there for 2 hours solely for how long it took to get our food and how long we waited to get our check. Let me say this again. Hubby and I were really hungry so we decided to stop by for a late lunch before getting on our way from Phoenix to Sedona. We were seated very quickly and our waiter, Alec, was terrific. He immediately brought us some cornbread, which was moist and delicious. We were a bit too hungry to take pictures but they were very pretty. We both ordered the beef brisket sandwich. I ordered the shoestring fries and roasted corn for sides and my husband ordered the coleslaw. The brisket was flavorful and moist with just the right amount of smokiness. Alec brought us extra barbecue sauce, regular and spicy. The sauce made our sandwiches even more delectable, but a bit messy. Alec came to the rescue again with the wet wipes. The fries were perfectly crispy and the roasted corn tasted really fresh. I got a taste of my husband's coleslaw, and it's very good. This is a real compliment from someone who doesn't really like coleslaw. We shared the enormous pecan cheesecake. We didn't think we could finish it, but we were wrong. Finally, we decided on what to get: A little bit of it all. Nothing wrong with eating leftovers for two days. I gotta say, out of all my travels, this was the best barbecue I've EVER had. I want to first preface by saying that this is not a place you come with a half empty stomach because you would regret not eating more. The secret behind Bobby Q's barbeque lies within the slow cooking process over Tennessee hickory wood paired with the perfect blend of spices such as the special dry rub .The result is succulent hand-pulled pork, smoky sausage links, fork-tender brisket, and ribs that fall right off the bone. Three different ribs are offered (St. Louis, Texas, and baby back) as well as chicken, salmon, burgers, and hand-cut steaks. The sides are a great accompaniment, but the meat is the show stopper here. I was not a fan of the Mac and cheese but everything else was top-notch. We finished our meal with the ginormous sized Mud pie and couldn't finish the whole thing even though we really tried. The service was top-notch, and they even gave us a bag of fresh fried donuts, dusted with cinnamon sugar on the house. Pricing was extremely reasonable for the amount and quality of food. The restaurant itself is huge and has a charmingly-rustic vibe and features reclaimed woodwork with exposed brick walls, antique gas lamps, and tall vintage French doors.
