I recommend their tomato beef stew noodle soup with wide noodles, half meat and half tendon. I also recommend their fried crunchy pork chop. A nice hole-in-the-wall restaurant with nice people and tasty food. I'm not sure why some of these reviews are so negative? I've been to many Chinese restaurants, and Bobee 5's tomato beef stew noodle with half meat and half tendon (wide noodles) is by far one of the BEST. The carrots in there balanced the tomato flavor well with the beefy soup, it definitely toned down the salt. For me the soup was tasty. The meat falls apart and tendon is cooked just right, soft the way I like it. It came out hot and steamy, great for a cold rainy day or a cold evening. The veggies in the soup were fresh and not over-cooked. I also tasted the regular beef stew noodles, it was good, more beefy, personally, I like the tomato beef stew noodles better - I enjoy tomato based soup/sauce. The crunchy pork was tasty, to my surprise unlike many overcooked katsu places, their pork was tender and juicy! The batter added a nice crunch a bit of sweetness. It was not overcooked or soggy or anything like that, I think the cabbage they placed underneath kept the pork chops dry and drained some of the excess oil. It was tasty. The seaweed/tofu/pig ears appetizer was tasty but I would not recommend it to people who have a date after or on a date as it can have a strong garlic after taste. If you like garlic, go for it. actually really like this place for some solid beef noodle soup. smalls shop with no wait time. Almost like a hidden gem for Taiwanese food. I usually get the BNS with glass noodles or vermicelli and its great! mixed plate of the cold dishes I love the sour veggies for the soup noodles. i have been contemplating if i should write a bad review or not...after all, the food is not bad just the service....ordered on the phone on 8-19-22 around 520 pm for 2 order of Bobee pork chop noodle in soup...the lady that dosen't know English picked up the phone so she handed the phone to a younger lady that does speak English; unfortunately she had no patience to take my order...and hung up quickly (i don't even have time to repeat myself to confirm the order)...when i picked up the food (my bad) that i didn't take a look on my food and paid/left...got home (u guessed it right), there was no pork chop only the plain noodle...so i said i will be back to pick up the pork chops that were missing...turned out the lady took the wrong order so of course i need to pay the difference...she didn't apologize that she took the wrong order and made me drove back...and worse thing was she sound irritated that she needed to explain the $10+ difference that i have to pay ($12 vs $7 each)...and she didn't even done explaining then went straight back to the kitchen...i was shock and mad that left me hanging there... Tomato Beef Noodle Soup (5/5): I love the taste of stewed tomato and if you're a fan of any Asian tomato dishes that include stewed tomatoes, you're going to love this! I was here for Popcorn Chicken, but I will have to come back to try their Beef Noodle Soup on another day, as it is what they're known for. Sorry, but the call for Popcorn Chicken was greater. They're also known for their Pork Chop Rice, and there are two types-- Bobee and Fried. I got to try the Bobee, as our friend is a regular and recommended it. Crunchy, covered in a slightly sweet sauce. Basically, deliciousness. My Popcorn Chicken was not fried too deeply and was still juicy. They gave me huge portions of that and the sides-- all of which were delicious, from the mapo tofu to the nicely marinated egg. The Pork Chop and Popcorn Chicken fall under Combo C-- which you can get with a side of Napa Cabbage Salad (nothing impressive and the sauce was too salty if the cabbage floated in it for too long) and a Green or Black Tea. If you upgrade the tea to Large, you pay an extra $0.75 or so. Loved the portion size and taste and I must come back for Beef Noodle Soup so... hopefully another review in the future! read more

Came here for late lunch, tried a few dishes, Marinated seaweed with garlic: the seaweed was very soft, loved the garlic flavor. Fish ball soup with veggies: the fish balls have meat in them, the soup was very light and yummy. Cold noodle with warm ground pork and veggie slices: hubby said it was one of the best he has ever had for a very long time. Noodle soup with Chinese green onions and veggies: The noodle soup is the only dish without meat here, the broth was so delicious, the thin noodle was very tender, the radish condiment was a great addition to the soup. Quite frankly, their price increase is not justifiable. If you want to increase, you should also look at your Quality, value and presentation. You lack ALL! How can a small plate of seaweed cost $4.50? Look around you - within 3 miles of you. There's plenty of places that serve bigger portions and better food. Look at the sauce and oil - it's gross! How can your bitter melon cost the same as your seaweed? Seaweed doesn't even require cooking! It's insanely ridiculous! They also have boba drinks , slushees and teas. on the bottom of the menu it says they don't use msg and therefore we can enjoy our meal aha. They are famous for their tomato beef noodle soup with hand cut, thick noodles!! Amazing. My favorite menu item here. Other dishes I've had: Stinky fermented tofu, steamed chicken and rice, pickled cabbage, wonton soup, boiled cabbage and pork dumplings, dry noodle dishes, pork cutlet with rice, & minced pork with rice. All are good, but I usually just order the tomato based beef noodle soup with all tendon, or half tendon & half meat, and thick hand cut noodles. They also make refreshing and fresh watermelon juice (real watermelons, no added sugars) and other amazing real fruit drinks. Their boba milk tea and sweet teas are really good, as well. Great service all the time!! Only downside is that the restaurant is kind of dirty. Tried this place for the first time with my sister. My sister has been here a couple times. The atmosphere of the place is nice and cozy. All the staff are nice and very quick to attend to your needs. This place is a little small, so if you plan to come here for lunch, come a little early! Came here after some last-minute changes in our plans left us in an area that we weren't familiar with. Can finally say I've tried Taiwanese food so I guess that's saying something. I ordered the Beef Noodle Soup (all meat; opted for no tendon). The meat was hit and miss - some pieces were cooked to perfection and very tender while others were either tough or had large veins of fat and cartilage in them. Ended up not eating about half of the meat which kind of sucked. The broth was surprisingly mild considering it was a dark amber color with lots of what I presumed was chili oil floating on the top. Not overly salty. Could have been a little spicier. Downed it with one of their standard Boba Milk Teas. It was how I like it (sweet but not overly). Wife had some sort of fried chicken cutlet plate which included rice and mixed veggies. She seemed to like it considering she finished the chicken and veggies. Only complaint was she couldn't figure out what to do with the plain rice so she splashed some of the leftover chili condiment they gave her for the chicken on it and ate it with the chicken. They really do give you quite a bit of rice - most of it went uneaten. She opted for the Lavender Milk Tea which was "interesting" in my opinion, but she liked it. Overall it was an ok experience (service was acceptable, food was acceptable, price was acceptable). It was pretty satisfying, but you could probably find the same type of drink elsewhere. I ordered the popcorn chicken with noodle soup and my friend ordered the pork chop with noodle soup. The noodle soup was just alright. Nothing too memorable about it, and it was kind of bland. Luckily, they had a fully stocked container of the pickled mustard cabbage for us to shower our broth with. The popcorn chicken was cooked perfectly. There wasn't too much batter on it, and the big pieces weren't dry. The meat was all consistent - everything was perfectly crisp and juicy. With beef noodle soup, you can choose from the regular beef noodle soup, beef bouillon (clear beef stock), and tomato-based.The regular beef noodle soup, with half beef half tendon and wide noodles, is my choice. The soup stock is tasty. Looks greasy but it is not at all. Much lighter than it looks. The beef is stewed to a very tender state, especially the tendon! My friend did say that sometimes the beef is tough so I guess they still need to work on the consistency. I've also had the tomato based and if you like your beef noodle soup a bit sweeter, then that is the option for you. Of course, with beef noodle soup, gotta have the pickled mustard green and here, you can add as much as you want. Not as salty as the store brought ones, so I usually go crazy with it, adding almost a full jar. That stuff is damn tasty. Besides beef noodle soup, there's also the red grain pork that Monja has made famous in the US. It is flavored much more heavily at Bobee, which I do like. Usually rice plates come with minced pork rice, some veggies, and half an egg. As for other items, they have braised cold item combinations and popcorn chicken, even stinky tofu. None of those are really standouts. They also run specials on drinks, but generally the ones with the BOGO are up to $6. I want to up Bobee 5's rating to 5 stars because the service and attitude of the waitresses here is exceptional. They keep an eye out on how you're eating your food and even ask if you want extra things. For instance, last time I came, I ate the meat sauce off the rice and didn't touch the rice leftover (since I thought the rice tasted better with the sauce, which I now had no more of since I had gobbled it all up). As if psychic, one of the waitresses offered to give me more sauce and came back with a generous helping of it for me. Also, they have many condiments for your noodles and what not and the girls constantly refill the little jars (which are enormous, mind you) and go out of their way to bring the jars to your table if your table happens to not have one. And like my first visit here, the girls are constantly recommending items for people to try and they really epitomize "service with a smile" There's always a stereotype that Chinese restaurants = no service and bad attitudes, but the girls who work here are really from the greener side of the grass. I come here often to eat with my children. It is one of their favorite restaurant. On nights when I'm too lazy to cook or the restaurant seems too crowded, I order to-go to bring home. The food is so yummy! The stew chicken leg with rice, Bobee 5 Pork Chop...their stew eggs, their beef stew noodles...I can go on and on...it is delicious! The price is fairly decent, especially compared to other Taiwanese restaurants such as Tea Station or Jurassic Tea Spot. The restaurant is rather small, maybe less than 8 tables? It does get packed during dinner time, so do plan to come early if you don't have the patience to wait. It isn't difficult to locate a parking spot at all because they share a HUGE parking lot with just a couple of stores, including a bank (which closes on weekends and around dinner time anyway so there goes extra spots!), and JJ Bakery. I always buy pastries from JJ right after eating dinner at Bobee 5. The convenience! :) I highly recommend Bobee 5 in Rowland Heights. The people who works here are super friendly and nice. Nothing really special about Bobee 5. If you want Taiwanese, I'd rather head to Sin Ba La which is close by. The popcorn chicken was very tender but I found it too salty. The papaya milk tea was alright and a nice thirst quench for the salty popcorn chicken. The beef noodle soup w/ wide noodles was alright. Flavor of the soup was good. We wanted to try a new place after visiting the Rowland Heights golf driving range, so we stopped by here.
