In all honesty, this place is pretty good. Bobs Cafe is located right across the Wilshire and Vermont metro station and that is how I stumbled upon this little hole in the wall. The youngster behind the cash register looked like he was indifferent about working there. He was also indifferent about greeting the guests, taking their order, and thanking them for their contributions. His face was pretty dry. Anyways, there was and older African America server, he made my visit worth while. He was very attentive and had a huge smile on his face the whole time I was there. I ordered a plate of the Chicken kabob. It came with a nice salad, lightly dressed to perfection. Also, what looked to me like jasmine rice, the rice was mouth watering and perfectly cooked. So I just got 3 combo plates and 1 falafel plate. Now first of all the food is plentiful for the price. Also all the kabobs and grilled items are done at time of order. The rice was well cooked and the salad is fresh and clean. The side garlic sauce and the spicy chili was a great accompaniment to the food. He gave me a set of baklava that his mother makes. I mean, okay, I've only had falafels at two other places, but third time's the charm. I mean do you really have to date 25-women to find the perfect one? Hell no! This is my go-to place if I want great food for a decent price. The staff is extremely friendly and honest. I usually order the chicken plate with salad and rice. The rice is fluffy, the chicken is always marinated to perfection (seasoning good/not spicy), the salad sometimes has too many tomatoes, and the dressing is light yet flavorful. It comes with banana peppers and you can ask for more. I wish they had a plate with salad, hummus, rice, and chicken. I can see where the other reviews say there are some confusion with orders, it was as though he did not know what the plates came with. Also forgot to give pita bread so I had to ask and they were again confused if the falafel plate with salad and hummus was supposed to come with it. The price is alright buut please train the workers on what the plates actually contain, and that they need to double check they provided everything with the order. The chicken was marinated and cooked nicely, BUT it's about that beef. It was the best beef kabob I ever had! It was tender and grilled to to perfection. You know the type: the server who comes on way too strong...oozing what he imagines is personality, but is more creepy than charming. My hunch is that he was promoted from front stoop sweeper by the owner in a spasm of charity, but, really, some people shouldn't be allowed to mingle with the patrons. Stumbled upon this and Grubhub said pickup would be nearly 45 minutes and I was only 10 minutes away; so I called the restaurant and the guy was super friendly and explained that if I'm picking it up myself he could have the order ready in 10-15 minutes so I went ahead and placed it online and asked him to look it for it. Got the turkey panini and it was pretty good. Paid $7.95 plus tax for the sandwich and some potato salad. The bread was really soft falling apart which is what I didn't like about it. The potato salad was pretty great though. The service sucked.
