Food has no flavor whatsoever. Bland food with no salt or just plain rice and beans. You might as well stay home and eat eggs then eat here.

Eh, it was just ok. I don't think we will bother going back. Place has a cool vibe, decor is modern and clean. You order from the counter, then they bring you your food. They have a full bar, but strangely it wasn't open. They only serve beer from the bottle, so that was a bit of a disappointment. Especially since their website mentions happy hour. Tacos were ok, not great. I ordered 3; carne asada, salmon, and shrimp. Carne asada was strange, sliced meat instead of traditional cubes and super greasy. Shrimp and salmon were dominated by the sweet salsa. Chips and salsa were ok, nothing to crave. Lastly we tried the tacquitoes; they had a strange flavor and texture. I'm so thrilled to have my beloved Tia Rosas back. I don't quite understand what's happened to them from a business standpoint but do hope the new Boca is better managed so it doesn't go bankrupt again. Negative: I think it's so lame that you have to buy chips and salsa. It would go a long way to offer that for free. Pros: super cute vibe, delicious and fresh food. We happened across this place and were very pleasantly surprised. Chips were light and both salsas were excellent. The tortilla soup was the best my friend ever had. I had cheese enchiladas which were quite good. I usually don't eat rice, but this rice was so tasty I ate it. Midday margaritas were good too. read more

I'm lucky to be working, so I'm doing my best to support local businesses. I want to give Boca a great review. The service was quick and friendly, my order was correct, and the food was super tasty? So why only three stars? Read on. I ordered tortilla soup, a cheese enchilada and a chicken mole enchilada. The soup was excellent. Crisp veggies, good broth, nice avacado chunks. But here's my problem; that soup easily fit into a coffee cup, and it was nearly six dollars! The cheese enchilada was smooth and tasty, the chicken mole enchilada had tender chicken and excellent mole. But....the takeout bill for a tiny cup of tortilla soup, a cheese enchilada and a chicken mole enchilada with a few spoonfuls of rice and beans and a handful of tortilla chips was $19.67!! This was, at best, a $14 meal. There is so much good Mexican food in this town, there's no reason to put up with a lack of value. If you want super tasty food and don't mind paying extra, by all means give Boca a try. If you prefer a bit of value with your meal, I suggest you go elsewhere. read more

Ya know, I didn't have very high expectations for this place, but I was pleasantly surprised! I had heard this was a popular spot and that was no lie. The line was almost out the door when I got there and I visited on a Tuesday around 1pm! The place was packed and the tables were almost all full! I ordered a shrimp and chicken taco. Both were delicious. Loaded with goods and full of flavor, this certainly will not be last trip to BT. Chicken or carnitas tacos are usually my all time faves, but the shrimp took home the gold at this place. It was packed full of flavor and sweetness given there were fresh chunks of pineapple in the mix. Highly recommend you try the shrimp taco here! Definitely give this place a try. I will be going back again sometime soon to give their street tacos a try! Oh, and be patient... this place isn't the fastest when it comes to service. Worth the wait though! read more

Been driving by here for almost 3 years. Our normal Mexican place wasn't open and we needed a quick dinner. We ordered off grub hub. I went to the restaurant for pickup to find the in person menu was better in both choices and price. They also have a spot to dine in as well. Now to the food. Not only was it good, but it was so flavorful too. Such a great find. We can't wait to bring the family in and try more of the menu. I Have been getting their bean and cheese burritos consistently for about a year. Always loved getting a yummy quick snack from here. Never had anything to complain about till today when we looked up their happy hour menu from their website & called in our order AND asked if it was happy hour prior to ordering. We ordered 3 tacos along with our other food in the order from happy hour and when they told me my total, it seemed a bit high for the happy hour prices. I asked about it and they told me they didn't know I wanted "happy hour pricing" and I had to specify that I wanted that. (Ok..) Also that the fish taco was never on happy hour even tho the menu says differently. So we cancel the taco portion of the order. When we go into pick up our food the girl at the counter gets cut off by an older employee swooping in and taking control. She asks if we really don't want the tacos in our order and explained that the owner told her they can't sell the fish tacos for happy hour pricing. We told them we did not want the tacos and showed them their website that has fish tacos on the happy hour menu to let them know to update it for the future. And then we were told it doesn't say fish tacos on the menu??? (As we're holding the menu up to them on our phone showing them) Then she says "well the guacamole is $3 each, do you want that still or is that too expensive for you?" ..... Did not leave feeling happy or excited about our meal after being poor shamed. read more

First time here. Been following them on Instagram for a bit and since I happen to be in the neighborhood, well... When in Rome! In this case... Gilbert, AZ. Their menu has a variety of options, and enough to cure any taste bud or likings that you want from a traditional fast food or dine-in Mexican restaurant. The customs service was good & my order was ready in under 10 minutes. The place was very clean and fun to be in. A classic style with an upgraded twist. I highly recommend this stop. The food was delicious, fresh and hot. Restaurant was clean, but not a lot of space to sit inside. I thought it was more like a sit down restaurant where they bring your food but it's stand in line, order your food and wait for it to be ready. I want to say it's somewhere in between a Filibertos and Café Rio. Ultimately the food was delicious and the service was good. I will go back. We had the shredded beef chimichanga enchilada style. This place has nothing to offer in regard to tacos. Their salsa is either too sweet, or just tastes like chunky ketchup. The only semi decent meat is the beef, everything else is dry, chewy, and flavorless. The rice was not good, and by the end of it all, I had lost my appetite to even finish my small meal. Another problem with this place is the proportions between the amount of food you're receiving and how much you're paying. If I want to get full eating here, I have to order two meals, which ends up easily costing upwards of $25. There is absolutely no reason I would want to pay for one meal here over other Mexican food options very close by, let alone two meals. read more

Amazing food and great, friendly service. What more can you ask for? I love their beef enchiladas. Trying the pork tacos tonight and they are soooo good and packed full. I tried the green chili sauce on one of my enchiladas and it was a tasty alternative to their awesome red sauce. I have had their steak enchiladas and in my opinion they are not as good as the beef enchiladas which is shredded beef. I have only lived in Mesa, AZ since October 2018 and I have tried several Mexican restaurants from chain restaurants to Mama and Papi locations and this place has been my favorite so far. read more

Great tacos, they missed on COVID protocols. First of all this restaurant is right next to a hospital that is full of Covid patients. So I am assuming that doctors nurses and support staff are here for lunch often. We ordered the Cantina Nachos with pork and chips and red salsa. The nachos were really good. The salsa was great too. There's an inconsistency with there chips. Ever since they put that chip heater in the front counter. Half the chips were translucent with oil and were really hard mixed with good ones. Been here a few times and we love the food and dining area. We've had the chimichanga and some tacos, and each time the food has been served warm or hot, it's yummy and tastes great. Good place for a quick bite or a longer meal. The photo of my chicken taco I believe is from the Mesa location (it was amazing), but for our dining in experience we went to this location a while back when they first opened. The Gilbert location is pretty modern and has good food. Overall good place that we'll be returning to. read more

We tried takeout from here tonight and loved it! My husband had heard great things about the shrimp tacos so we got one to split. DELICIOUS with the pineapple salsa! It was also pretty big! Next time I might order two as my meal. I also got the Veg Head burrito and my husband got the steak burrito. He liked his but next time would also get the shrimp tacos next time! The veg head burrito was excellent and filled with refried beans, sour cream, guacamole and cheese. I wish it had more veggies so next time might ask to add the fajita veggie mix. I finally tried this little Mexican restaurant today and so glad I did. The service, price, food, and ambiance was perfect. A friend of mine had recommended it to me. There seems to be many new food choices on that corner of Higley and Baseline compared to 3 years ago when I lived in Gilbert. I ended up bringing my mom here for a lunch date, something easy and close by. I had the 3 street tacos: pork, carne asada, and chicken. My favorite was the carne asada with the hot red salsa. She had the seafood street tacos and enjoyed it very much. She mentioned that the shrimp had a little kick, a plus! The beans and rice were extra charges $2 each side, but worth it. If you are in the mood for a drink, they actually have a bar with 2 big screen TVs and you can order beer or liquor! The set up reminded me of a smaller and more modest Barrio Queen but with better food. Gilbert really needed better food choices and I'm glad Boca is in the mix. OMG! Tried this place for the first time this afternoon! Very impressive! Got the fish taco, yummy! Got the chicken taquitos, also yummy! The fish taco had plenty of the goods! It actually probably would have been enough food by itself, (just needed something to tide me over until dinner) ya it wasn't fishy tasting at all, in fact if someone were to take a blind taste test 9 out of 10 people probably wouldn't guess it was even fish, it was very fresh! Now onto the chicken taquitos! Very light & crispy tortilla shells! Almost too much yummy guacamole & sour cream! As soon as I finished & got out to my truck I had to call my gf to tell her how wonderful this place is! Really I mean I go there for the first time & get 2 completely different items & they knock it out of the park! Now I just want to go back to try some more stuff!!! I ordered a bean burrito enchilada style and the enchilada sauce was sweet - definitely not consistent with the classic/traditional Mexican style I was craving at the time. Husband ordered a few different tacos and while the shrimp tacos were pretty good, the other street tacos left a lot to be desired in terms of flavor. I have done takeout from Boca twice during quarantine and both times it was amazing. I got the taco family package that came with cheese, pico, 1 pound of meat, fresh tortillas, rice and beans. I tried the Queso as well and it is delicious. This is such a fun and delicious place, I am excited to finally go in person when things return slightly back to normal. I'm sorry but this was a real yelp disappointment. I'm losing my trust in Yelp stars but this place isn't the place to go if you want a good Mexican food. It's an "Americanized" version of what Mexican food should be. I got the carnitas tacos with absolutely no seasoning of some sort. Salmon taco was 2/5 stars. I heart Boca! I eat here several times a month. I love the shredded beef (try the Flying Saucer or Super Nacho). The salmon taco is amazing! I try something new ever other time I go and I'm always happy, this place puts our delicious food. Service is fast casual, lots of indoor and outdoor seating and a bar with TVs so you can watch the game. I call ahead for pickup a lot too, make sure to add chips and salsa to your order with their quest dip, it's really good! I love having this place so close by! read more

This place is like an upscale filibertos with a bar. Lol. The bestie wanted to go to happy hour and check this place out since it was right by her work. I ordered the 3 taquitos, a purple rain and a watermelon margarita. The taquitos were very bland and dry. It doesn't even come with anything besides cheese. However the drinks were amazing!
