Message therapist good. However the facility has soooo much to be desired. Place needs cleaning and after people lay on the couches no follow-up sanitizing or cleaning. Now for the real disgusting-- nothing was done after the staff knew about patrons having sex in the hot hot tub. They permitted others people to go in after a therapist saw and reported the incident. I mentioned it and, although it was agreed to be unsanitary to say the least, it was not shut down. I hope it will be cleaned tonight. I suggested that they should have a staff person assigned to monitor that area but "whatever" was the attitude. I will not go there again or let people I know go there ever. read more

Not what I was expecting to be honest. Picked this place because it shows up in a few list of "best spas in New york" but for the life of me don't understand why. Came to NY for our honeymoon and decided to check out Brooklyn and picked Body by Brooklyn for our afternoon spa. I booked the VIP suite but it was a waste of money. All it is is a room with two beds for couple's treatment. But you don't actually get to enjoy the room at all, apparently extra time in the room cost more... so why even book it at all. Rose petals and candles are not worth the added cost. Also, the treatment we had was OK. We chose the Red Hamman treatment and about 20 minutes of the 90 were just waiting on the bed for the "treatment" to soak in... and the massage was really just a body rub, not massage at all. Again, not worth it for the cost Also, they need to figure out their music situation. Our room was playing country music and when we asked to change it, the staff couldn't figure out how to do it and we ended up listening to some top 40 radio station with a bunch of ads. People come here for relaxation, and the music should cater to that. Better to not have any music at all. We also got two glasses of champagne at the beginning of the treatment and my glass had the champagne foil in it..... Just very mediocre overall. If you're looking for a spa experience just spend a little bit more and go somewhere else. read more

But lately it's gotten a lot worse. Plunge pool water is dirty and weird colored The steam room doesn't work at all Women's bathroom often out of service. Showers flood and smell like mildew. Bathroom floors are slippery and dangerous Water coolers have black stuff floating in them Men come into the women's locker room to "clean" and don't announce themselves properly The worst part...They don't offer a discount if the wet lounge isn't working fully. They just tell you ahead of time and expect you to pay - even when all of the above happens. Does anyone have recommendations on nicer places to go? He wasn't inviting to ask questions and he assumed I didn't want to use my entire gift card. There was a tip listed on the gift card yet he still asked me how much I would like to tip. If I could give zero stars I would. The space looked like it hadn't been cleaned. It was extremely dark. The clocks displayed the wrong time. The wet room had visible wires which made me nervous to go in to the hot tub, etc. The online booking booked me the wrong treatment which I took anyway. The massage room was very dark (felt scary!) and very hot. It made me feel incredibly unsafe and uneasy. The actual massage was okay but not what I had booked. When I shared my feedback with the front desk they refused to offer up a discount or even an apology. I will never be back and will share my experience with everyone. I can't understand why the reviews for this place aren't all 5 stars. I was looking for a clean alternative to Spa Castle. Ancient Aire is way too expensive for me and SOJO spa club is far. Body by Brooklyn was an awesome alternative. It is smaller than Spa Castle but I didn't feel like I would catch something. I used to run a floatation center in the city so I'm kind of snobby when it comes to cleanliness. The front desk receptionist was friendly and the manager Rose gave me a few insider tips in regards to how to use the saunas and the steam room. She also gave me free face scrub and body scrub to use in the steam room. They are on top of their facility, I even witnessed Rose refilling the Jacuzzi towards the end of the night because it wasn't at the exact level it should've been at it. I definitely appreciated that. The locker rooms were very clean, you definitely need flip flops because I almost died on the slippery marble lol. I had a 30 min Swedish full body massage by Miguel. He asked me about my problem areas and focused on them. Sitting in the hallway was a little odd but I didn't have to wait long which was a plus. He asked me if he needed to adjust his strength but it was just fine and I left his room feeling like a new person. I didn't have any food so I can't comment on that but I did have a glass of champagne and their rum punch which was delicious! The only thing negative I have to say is that I wish this place was bigger or that the jacuzzi was a tad larger, it's only space to fit about 4 people which could get a little too personal with strangers. read more

After numerous recommendations I visited BBB for a couples massage and was super disappointed. LMT Donegan was extremely unprofessional and rude. He seemed upset that he had to give a deep tissue massage late in they day or maybe that he had to massage a man. He even said "aint gonna be no deep tissue massages!" Yes there will and you will be the one to give it. Professionalism needs a lot of work at this establishment and for the price point it is not worth it. When you go to a spa you want to be able to relax and you trust you will receive what you pay for. I feel cheated and doubt I would be back. LMT Donegan's bed manner needs work and if you don't want to do deep tissue find a new profession. Man really told me to take notes at some point. His technique needs work and pressure was rather soft for a deep tissue. Guess he really wasn't trying to do it. Honestly wouldn't bother going here. Better off at Spa castle or finding a different place altogether if you want a quality and professional massage. As a trained pest control technician I can confirm they have a roach problem in the establishment, specifically men's locker room. I stay trying to love BBB but they continue to disappoint. I wrote a very long response to the questionnaire they sent me and I do not have the energy to write such an extensive review but I will note the two most irritating. The scheduling system sucks, or maybe its the short cut of scheduling two different people's appointments under one name. All of the following occurred because of this: They told my husband that they didn't have an appointment for him despite him hearing me schedule the appointment earlier in the day. As a result he had to call me, causing him to be delayed further. The masseuse came out looking for me (a woman), looking past him because she was looking for a woman. Causing a further delay. My facial was delayed 15 mins because the esthetician saw JB scheduled for a massage at 5:00 and her facial couldn't possibly be scheduled for 5:30, since that massage is 45 mins, so she came to get me at 5:45. The problem is that my husband was the one getting the massage - because they put both services in my name. Finally, the steam room was not working and the jacuzzi was cold. I was here on a Wednesday after being there on the Friday prior, at which time the steam room still was nor working. I swear I try to love BBB but they continue to disappoint. BTW, I'm tired of getting these spa passes - they are worthless. BBB please do better. One read more

There are no really other similar places in this area so this one is pretty solid . There is a wet room with 2 saunas , Swedish and Russian, steam room , jacuzzi and cold plunge . Steam room could be upgraded a little ,sometimes it takes a long time to get the steam going . I don't really understand the concept of partying and sauna/steam/cold plunge but it is what it is . You can go there and relax , get a massage as well and there is a nice lounge area with a bar . Bar is pretty cool , there is thai food menu but I didn't really like it . The smells of spices were sometimes too intense for a spa center . I'd rather see meditarenian food or something else , or no food at all . Sometimes people who use the spa will use diferent products on their skin and fully painted get to the cold plunge and leave brownish oily marks in the water and many of the lockers are broken. On the other hand you get a robe, towels , showers, mouthwash, shampoos, fans , a shaving razor , comb and you can buy a shorts and slippers . read more

Where to begin... went here for my anniversary at first staff seemed nice and friendly at the front desk. They gave us robes and explained the procedure. We changed robes were dirty stained. Then the lounge looked dated and dirty dingy. The bar counter was dirty and I sat on a stool that has a broken leg it's bent. Really at there prices u would think they have some decent chairs. Cup of wine in a dirty plastic cup not even a wine glass.. for $11 a cup you would think they would serve it in a wine glass. Then here comes the soda I had a ginger ale $5 my cup only took little more than half the bottle... that means there's little less than half left another cup... you think I would be given the bottle or offered the rest of the bottle for $5. Ok next the massage we had a 4:15 couples massage. We waiting until 4:36 then we get to our room it's it's 2 separate rooms with a divider. The website shows a picture of 1 room with 2 massage tables. Then therapist proceeds to ask which would like the male and female. We switched last minute and the male therapist kind of had an attitude saying it's your time your wasting. So it's finally 4:53 now we had a 90 minute they ended it at 5:45 as if we started at 4:15 the appointment time. They didn't get us until 4:36. Ok next when booking the customer service rep was professional and explained the different types of massages. We got the Swedish. When we were getting massed I got a deep tissue it hurt and today I am so sore I can't even work out. Next my therapist had the roughest hands worse than mine and I'm a truck driver. Ok the wet lounge. Dirty dingy. The jacuzzi small and water was dirty. They had a pool next to it for 2 people maybe with a sign from the health department closed. I asked the cleaning lady that was wiping the shower area about it. She says it's nothing and I could go in there water was dirty. Hand prints through out the whole wet lounge the saunas also. No one cleans here? Ok all said that wasn't still not the bad part. After going to get my id back and the to the tipping part the woman asked me if I would like to tip the bartender I said no she took a nasty sounding inhale and exhale with disgust... I wasn't about to go off and ruin my anniversary on that pig sounding sound. Like I said the plastic dirty cup and the ginger ale I didn't get the whole bottle. Ok then I put $25 in each little envelope the lady is looking like hawk and making grunting sounds as if $25 tip per therapist isn't enough. Planned an engagement celebration spa night here and everything went great! Skylar was the event planner for our group of 6 and she was wonderful! She communicated with me on a daily basis and cleared up any concerns that the guests had regarding the spa and treatments. Many of the guests mentioned that Skylar paid much attention to detail when it came down to the food requests and that she was very helpful and personable prior to the event. I agree. Skylar made this process easy and seamless and was part of the reason we were all anxious to come. I love the package deals! Most of us did the $98 package which included access to the Wet Lounge, facial scrub and body scrub, Champagne on arrival, free cocktail drink with meal, dinner (appetizer, meal, dessert), and a take home gift. For an additional treatment/massage you just needed to upgrade the package and pay accordingly. I didn't get a massage or additional treatment but I did enjoy my time in the Wet Lounge. There's cards posted in the Wet Lounge so that you can get your maximum benefit with the Jacuzzi, cold pool bath, and saunas. Those were helpful and made me feel very relaxed and back to the pure woman that I am lol. The other ladies who did get additional massages/treatments stated that they felt brand spanking new. The masseuses at Body By Brooklyn did a great job. I would definitely come back here. A star is missing because I wish there were better food options. The food is good but I wish the menu was more extensive. Other than that I enjoyed my experience. The Spa is clean, the aromas are pleasant and relaxing, and the staff was great. Oh! It's my own fault for going here despite the bad reviews about how poorly this place is managed. Called the place and booked some services and they took a $100 deposit. No problem. Not unreasonable, but wasn't getting everything I needed at the times I needed so they suggested I go on line. I did and found a better rate for better services so I booked on line with no deposit. Called them back and told them what I did. No problem. The cancelled the first booking....but didn't cancel the deposit. No problem. Figured it would come off because if was just a pending charge. Went. Got two massages, but wasn't the massages we booked. At check out was still getting charged for the more expensive massages we didn't get so I had to tell them that and had to wait until they could figure out what to charge us for because they couldn't understand why we didn't get the right massages. Then I notice the next day I paid full price for everything, AND my card was charged the $100 deposit. Thought I'd call them and have them fix it but they say there is nothing they can do and I just have to try to dispute it and they won't fight the dispute. Asked why they can't just call their credit card company and refund the $100 and was told they just don't do that. They kept saying it was because I booked on line.....but the credit card deposit was taken by them over the phone. So all this hassle and you would think they would feel bad for any of it. Nope. Their response was just "have a nice day". Would seriously recommend booking ANYWHERE but here. They do not care about their customers. Finally after one month they called me because they got the dispute from the credit card company and refunded the extra money. Great. Thanks for FINALLY making it right. And you think THIS is the extent of customer service and this is "making it right". You all need to take lessons in customer service. read more

I had the worse massage when I came to this place. I repeatedly told the therapist that his techniques were hurting me. Eventually I had to stop the massage I couldn't even get through the 90 minutes. But what made the experience worse was when I spoke to a manager about it he said he would speak to the therapist to get his side of the story then call me back and he never called back. I went on March 30th and it is now April 12. I even called the following day and asked for the manager and was told he like call me but didn't. I went to Body by Brooklyn for my birthday. They have an option to book your treatment online, so I took advantage of that and was able to book before arriving. From the moment I walked in someone was there to get me started with my day. The drinks were on point and the bartender was friendly. i order margaritas and also had wings which came with a generous amount of rice. My massage was just amazing. I cant spell the woman's name but it was a black woman her name started with an S. She was amazing and she made sure I was comfortable the entire time. All and all I definitely recommend Body by Brooklyn and although I live out of state, whenever I come to visit this will be my go to spot to unwind. The masseuse use an insane amount of pressure and even after I told him that he still continued, he told me it was because I was tense- of course I was tense it's because I was in pain. I couldn't wait for the massage to be over. Also my friends all raved about the warm towels they received during their sessions however I didn't get one. We came here for our honeymoon spa day and had a wonderful time. We got champagne when we got here and they have a great facility where you can get a treatment and also use everything else for the entire day. This was by far the most expensive spa treatment I have ever had and the location and facilities were of the lowest quality I've ever experienced. I originally settled on coming to Brooklyn over Manhattan because of convenience. However, my family could've received 2 massages each for the amount I spent at this location. To start, I was charged the same amount RIDICULOUS amount for 4 massages and 3 facials after I canceled a VIP Treatment of around the same price. Some how, the VIP for 5 people was only $72 more than the massages for 4 people. I had to leave my 15 year old brother home, because I was being told that I had to pay for VIP if he came home. THIS PLACE IS A HIGHWAY ROBBERY! I would not recommend to anyone! The Jacuzzi and cold pool were opened 2 hours into the time at the Spa and were extremely tiny. The cook never came. I ordered a Sangria that was 99% juice and was stored in a juice bucket. I ordered chips and Guacamole, the manager or owner, ran to the store to buy packaged guacamole and chips. The furniture and ambiance didn't match and was off. The This is one of the worse spas and I will ensure to spread the word about the horrible service offered here. In the name of fairness, however, I will say that the ladies were all satisfied with their facials. That is probably the only thing worth spending money on at this spa. read more
