This spa is welcoming & very pretty inside. The wet area is quite nice. My massuese, Elizabeth, was gentle, but still gave a deep massage. I'd put her in my top 10, or maybe even 5 (and I've gotten massages all over the country, for the last 40 years). She also was silent through the massage, so I could really zone out. I'd give her 5 stars. The greeting staff are delightful, and helpful. The food service is in transition, so there was a very limited choice (guacamole & chips, or cheese & grapes), but it was tasty. The drink menu is extensive, and my Belini was quite good. I would have preferred a smoothy, or juice menu, to be included in the offering, as one gets so cleansed, that alcohol isn't usually one's first choice. Iced water with lemon, is available in both the wet area, and the lounge. A nice robe is given one, when you arrive. The locker rooms/dressing rooms have nice amenities and a luxurious feeling to them. The wet area had a WONDERFUL Turkish steam, with eucalyptus oil scenting the air. Also the Turkish steam room had a cool waterfall shower in it, which feels devine. The Sweedish sauna was lovely, but the Russian sauna was impossibly hot. There was a nice cold plunge pool too. The hot tub was the only thing that was only passable, but it was pleasant enough. There were anti-gravity lounge chairs that were really comfy, in the wet area. There is a lovely lounging area with a pretty, cozy gas fire, and cushy chairs, where you can just chill. All in all it's a fabulous little gem, in Bklyn. read more

I celebrated my 21st wedding anniversary here. Sub par experience at best. - The customer service was not good. I had the VIP room and was told my concierge would be available immediately if we needed anything by dialing 101. We called that number with no answer for more than 35 minutes. Then I used my cell phone to call the main number and was told she would be there... not true. 5 minutes later we called back again. She finally got there about 45 minutes after we first tried to call her for a bottle opener. We only had the room for an hour. - The steam shower was in need of repair. It looked like rust was all around the tile and tiles were missing. It was kind of gross. We almost got burned because of where the steam comes out on the floor. - The towels had holes and were raggedy. The robes were dirty around the collar. - While sitting in the hallway waiting for our room a worker walked by us without speaking... not critical but it speaks volumes about the service level. - The plastic glasses were reused when drinks were refreshed... nasty Overall this was not a good value. It was very expensive and the experience was poor. read more

Nice facility, horrible service. First impressions count. Upon arrival, reception was a chaotic clusterf**k. No less than 8 people were crammed into the reception area which has horrible feng shui. My hood Rite Aid checks out customers in a more organized fashion than this place. We waited at least 10 minutes for service. Other customers actually pointed out the waivers we needed to fill out. There wasn't enough counter space to fill out forms or anywhere to sit. The front desk barely acknowledged us except to bark orders about filling out a waiver. A very stressful reception for a place supposedly about relaxation. The delay at check in caused my friend to nearly be late for her massage, but the manager (? She wears glasses and looks a bit like Eartha Kitt) tried to blame her for lateness when we had arrived at the suggested 15 minutes early but spent that time standing ignored in their overcrowded reception area! We waited patiently but the vibe was already starting to stink like 2 day old garbage. Not exactly the way you want to start a supposed spa experience, with yucky negative vibes. But it gets better, or worse as the case my be. After a lovely facial by Jacky and nearly an hour of sauna, I needed to replenish so I went to the bar for a juice. I waited 10 minutes after asking 3 times (!!!!!) for service and still nothing! For a place that is supposed to be about wellness, no service for a juice for hypoglycemic clients is verging on lawsuit. Imagine I'd passed out due to low blood sugar. They'd probably try to blame that on me too. The emphasis on alcoholic drinks with only a few juice options is corny, and I never even got a chance to find out how the juice was since I gave up after 10 minutes of non-service. Warm fluffy towels, beautiful spacious faculties, wonderfully warm saunas and a serene atmosphere can't make up for the awful check in and check out processes, the embittered front desk staff, and the lack of responsiveness overall. That their unfriendly and unresponsive front desk staff could so severely tilt our experience to the negative speaks volumes. Body by Brooklyn was the worst spa experience I've EVER had. This place is far from a spa. This dungeon resembles more of a damn concentration camp scene in a Saw movie. Dark, dank, mildewy, seedy. Their were random people that look like they came directly off the streets walking around, turns out that was the staff. They didn't even have on uniforms or a tag to identify themselves as staff. The technicians were cool. I feel bad that those are there working conditions. But everyone else Were a HUGE disappointment. There was not one comfortable seat or seating area. Instead there were old ass club seating, hard and narrow. While I was in the sauna(Freddy Kruger's boiler room) the engineering room for the saunas was wide open, two men were tinkering around in there while on the phone loud af trying to fix something. There was a big ass brown hose that looked like a giant heroin tie off routed to one of the whirlpools. The entire time i was in the water spa area there were maintanence men walking back and forth along with loud saw and banging noises. Went to get my scheduled massage and a loud as couple were having very LOUD SEX in the VIP Room. YUCK. The masseuse simply turned up the music. I guess this is a normal regular occurrence at this shit hole. After the massage we went back by the whirlpools and there was a thick ass layer of film atop the water. WTF I was completely robbed. The place was not relaxing or restorative. It was a adventure of how much more DISASTER can this place be. Well they truly out did themselves and I was left with the bill. Body by Brooklyn is HORRENDOUS riddled with health and safety code violations. read more

This immersive play was better then "sleep no more". The gas lighting was impeccable. I know sleep no more has notes in their drawers, this place has roach traps every where. The place small and intimate. Staff are friendly. The VIP suite is very nice jacuzzi tub, steam shower access to bathroom. You get a cheap bottle of champagne and chips and gaucomole. The champagne could be better quality something like Barentura Rose $13.99. They have a bar for drinks. But you know what happens when drink you get hungry. I recommend they having a snack bar or kitchen for tapas or finger food. The locker room were very clean. Shower room clean as well. Can't wait to go back again. Keep up the good work. I was there over the weekend and loved it! My husband and I relaxed by the Jacuzzi, sipping delicious cocktails. It was a bit crowded in the Jacuzzi, but there are three steam/sauna rooms so we used one of the steam rooms until the Jacuzzi freed up. The main lounge is huge and they have a fireplace...very cute! I also had a deep tissue massage, it was awesome! My massage therapist, can't remember her name, did a great job on my back and she was so nice and accommodating. I am a long time Clinton Hill resident. I was VERY pleased when this establishment first opened. It was just thrilling to see such a lovely spa open in the area. My visit to the spa when it first opened was less than stellar. I chalked it up to the fact that they were just getting under way and choose to stay away until the bugs where worked out. My later visits where quite enjoyable. The space is quite pretty but the staff was absolutely the high light of my visits. They went out of their way to make me feel welcome. In particular I will always remember the Spa Manager named Shawn. This soft spoken man ALWAYS made a point of stopping whatever he was doing to check that all was up to par and that we were enjoying ourselves. Due to my work/travel schedule I have been unable to frequent the spa for quite some time. Recently I was in town and had a rare free day so went back. What a difference! I didn't even recognize the place. The staff has completely changed, the customer service was horrible, I found the spa very unwelcoming and dirty (had to wait for 30 min for a towel). Drinks where extremely pricey. Just an absolute mess start to finish. What a shame!!! If I could pass on a word of advice to the owners of this establishment it would be to remind them that above all your employees are the most important asset you have (or had in this case). read more

i had the worst experience there, I'll start by saying i came there to have a good relaxing day and the service i received from when i first walked in was horrible i must say. Before actually attending to myself and the people i was with they where doing other things. I didn't even get greeted as i entered. They told us we needed to share a locker amongst three people or they would take our things and put it in the men's locker. Im Paying 45 dollars for what? If i cant have my own locker . This place is the worse. Why do you take a deposit if your always screwing up the transactions. I've been to many other spas bliss, red door etc and they take your cc info and only charge if you miss your appointment and don't cancel within 24hrs. I figured I would try this place for customer appreciation week. I booked $60 facial for myself and my mom. Customer service said I have to leave a $50.00 deposit pp. My card was charged $100.00 and I had an additional pending transaction for $75.00 and I received an email thanking me for visiting which at the time I didn't visit the spa yet. I called and they apologized and said I will receive a refund which I did and they also told me I would receive a call from management which I never did I received an email. Well a couple days later my card was charged again this time $125 dollars I still haven't made it to receive my spa services and they're still charging me money. At this point the establishment that was suppose to alleviate stress has caused me unnecessary stress. My boyfriend booked a couples massage at this spa for our anniversary having read about it in Time Out Magazine. I was really looking forward to it as it was a special day that he planned. The first red flag for both of us was that they called at 9am the day of and left a message asking him to return the call to confirm the reservation. He rings them back and the woman says that he didn't need to call back as it was already confirmed (huh?), BUT she what she really wanted to know was if he wanted to spend an extra $178 for us to have the "VIP room". Calling the day of to upsell us on something while masking it as a confirmation call was a bit sneaky but it's cool, we let it go. Once the appointment time drew near, we were in the general vicinity but had some trouble finding the entrance so we call the front desk. We ask if we're going in the right direction and if we should be walking into a green gate. She says yes. We enter the building and the lady at the front desk has no idea what we're looking for. When we emphasize it's a spa, she says, "Oh...next door". We leave and find the entrance to Body by Brooklyn, but I'm becoming more skeptical since the girl on the phone doesn't seem to know where she works. When we walk in, she's friendly and has us fill out some forms "in case we fall and get hurt", which was a weird thing to say...should we be expecting a lot of slippery floors? After that she asks if we have our swimsuits and sandals. I was confused...I had to bring my own sandals? I guess this might come off bougie but all the spas I've went to in the past have provided their own footwear for me to borrow. Also, we were just getting a couples massage and not planning on using their wet room or saunas so neither of us had brought swimwear. I asked if we absolutely had to have it and this is where she became rude. She said it was necessary and if we didn't have our own they would sell us some. Okay...so at this point we had to buy Old Navy flip flops off them (they didn't have my boyfriends size so he ended up buying a pair he can never reuse) and we had to buy our swimsuits too. Let me just say, these "swimsuits" were hilarious. They were literally the same thing they give you at the doctors office. It wasn't even fabric, they were just some paper-y mesh material with little crappy straps. We pay for it regardless since its "required" and head into our respective changing rooms. This is the only good part of the establishment. The locker rooms were clean and they provided free razors, lotion, hair gel, etc. I take a look at the swimsuit, laugh, and throw them out. Even if I were to go in the wet room, there would literally be no difference than just going in naked. The two-piece was entirely see through. Luckily, I was wearing a bodysuit and it looked just like a one piece and just kept that on instead. Once changed I headed to the door on the other side which was the entrance to the spa. My boyfriend was already waiting and once the therapists saw me come out they immediately rushed us into a room with two massage tables. I'll be totally honest. I've never had a massage where I've wanted it to be over that badly. My therapists hands were freezing. Any time he applied more oil, it accentuated how cold his hands were and it was honestly a miserable experience. The highlight was when he stopped and put a hot towel over me. I could also tell he really didn't want to be there because he kept sighing which made things a bit awkward. My boyfriends therapist seemed a lot nicer and wished us a happy anniversary after the hour long massage but I was already tapped out by that point. I just wanted to leave but because the therapist used so much oil, I had to take a shower since everything was sticking to me. Be glad I went through it instead of you. I would really suggest you save your money and invest in a place that's so much more worth while. We'd been to Aire Ancient Baths a few times and although it costs probably twice as much, every time I'm there I never feel rushed or stressed. He ended up spending $270 here for a terrible experience. We were just happy we didn't get conned into the "VIP room". Spend your hard earned money at a place where they actually want you to enjoy yourself. Body by Brooklyn encourages the opposite. read more

One might see a spa experience as being relaxing, soothing, and simply an escape from the hectic nature of life. However, upon making a visit to this Brooklyn establishment, I felt the opposite all of those things. For one, the front desk is very disorganized, unprepared for busy hours. Then upon entering the locker room, you're greeted not by tranquility, but a cacophony of shrill voices, much like that of a public pool. Even though signs on the walls request that guests keep their voices to a minimum in order to not disturb others, these rules are obviously not enforced. Also, while their facilities are effective, I burned myself on the scalding hot seating areas inside of the Russian sauna. All in all, if you wish to experience a relaxing oasis, do not come here. read more

My boyfriend and I booked a couples hammam treatment in the VIP room. What we ended up experiencing was definitely not a hammam but a scrub and a wrap. It was done in a cold room, no steam, no hammam scrub glove, no actual wash involved. I get hammam in a spa in Bay Ridge all the time and have done hammams all over the word and thus questioned what they were doing right away. They didn't fully explain and just said that's how we do it here. After the mud was applied and we were wrapped (definitely not a part of actual hammam), I've asked to stop the treatment and asked for a manager as this was not what I came there for. When he showed up, he started arguing that's how their management company tells them to do it and that they have Moroccan people work there and do it as such (which somehow was supposed to make sense). That place is not set up to offer proper hammam (no steam room where you can perform the treatment), so it has nothing to do with who works there. Instead of apologizing for misleading customers, the manager went on to argue with me. I've said that I'll refuse to pay $440 for 30 mins of the treatment I didn't sign up for, he offered to take 50% off as "all of the treatments money go to the therapists" (?!?!?!). Which to me is insane, $220 for 30 min of service that I didn't want. After arguing with him, he agreed to take just a deposit...I settled for that but $100 for something I never wanted is absolutely ridiculous. This is a great case of misleading advertising at its best! Definitely not the experience I was looking for from a spa. Very disappointing for a spa that has such great reviews otherwise. read more

You know, when they started out, this place was excellent! The staff seemed eager to please, the space was clean and the food was pretty tasty. Maybe all their success has gone slightly to their head because the services have slipped a little bit from the euphoria of their opening months. The staff are not quite as excited as they were; the rooms are getting a bit worn (but still clean), and the food might not be your top reason for going (although it's better than most spas). where do i begin...management...service..facilities? management has no clue on how to run a spa. there is a high turnover of staff and no one is focused on providing the customer with a spa like experience. there is staff cleaning the floor with strong cleansers that stings the eyes while customers are trying to relax in the wet lounge. a male staffer walked into the ladies locker room and continued to change the towels, even after i screamed and protested. a staffer was changing a light bulb in the steam room. why couldn't this be done prior to the opening of the spa? i had a massage with a woman who did not speak English. i couldn't tell her that she was using too much pressure...just awful service i saw a dead cockroach floating in the cold plunge. i brought it to the attention of management. they scooped it out and was done. i had to insist that they drain the water. who wants to get into water with a cockroach?!?!? read more

Ron is the best Therapist they have ever seen. Many have left. he needs to open up his own Spa. The customer service is awful and I use to really love this place YEARS ago. Not sure what happened or what went wrong. Several bad experiences for such a beautiful place. Now they are charging for slippers. The owner doesn't care what you have to say and can careless if you are also a business owner giving some advice. The new staff and managers are more into fashion than they are of being courteous. They didn't even mention gratuity as the old staff does- they should. The Therapists work really hard and deserve a tip. The front desk has no idea what they are doing. Total shame for such a beautiful place. Very sad. I hope they get things together, make a drastic change and really try listening to customers who've been supporting them for years. I have. Someone needs to open up a Spa near that location and give them some competition. Competition is good and forces a business owner to improve. Now I need to find a new spa in Bklyn. read more

I live within walking distance so it's convenient. It's clean and modern. I've only used their wet spa which has a jacuzzi, cold plunge pool, steam room and two dry saunas. I've been maybe 6 time total and mostly been decent. Always had a pleasant front desk person. My reason for not giving 4 or 5 stars is there is no pool and it's overpriced for the neighborhood as prices compare to many Manhattan Spas. My biggest gripe came when I went to order lunch from the bar area. Normally they have a selection of homemade sandwiches which are decent, but this time I went in to find they have stopped doing them and they now have a fixed $20 entrée menu. I'd rather have 2 or 3 small snacks throughout the day than 1 main course, to make things worse I asked for the $20 chicken salad. After 15 minutes a staff member comes back with a salad box from the supermarket next door, puts it on a plate and presents it to me complete with paper napkin, plastic cutlery and plastic dressing tubs. WTF! Whilst not a major thing for most people, I feel like I was ripped off. A bland selection of salad with a couple of pieces of fry chicken that wasn't even prepared by them for $20. read more

A friend and I decided to go here for a spa day and, from the onset, it was an awful experience. On their website there is a notation that $5 all day parking is available. When I arrived I walked in to inquire as to where the lot was and had to wait 15mins for the receptionist to finish his phone call just for him to tell me not to park there. We parked under the BQE and upon returning to the reception desk we walked in to see the manager with a head scarf on out of uniform and her party boots on top of the counter. She signed us in and proceeded to hand us some badly stained robes that I'm assuming were once white and showed us to the locker room. Someone was cleaning but it smelled musty. We proceeded to get our massages that were ok. Neither of us had a fabulous massage but it wasn't horrible either. Simply ok. We had about two hours to kill before our facials. When we made our reservation we were told that there would be food available for us during our wait. Not the case. The kitchen was closed. So we went into the musty locker room, changed, and headed out to have a sit down lunch down the street. Upon returning, we still had an hour to kill. So we entered the wet lounge. We first tried to go into the steam room but it smelled so strongly of cleaner we couldn't bear it so we left. We then tried the one of the saunas but there was a mysterious white substance on the bench that we weren't going to try and identify and walked right back out. We were turned off by the soap in the jacuzzi. We'd never seen that before since jacuzzis make their own bubbles. We were worried they were trying to hide something with the soap so we just hung out on the chairs and talked. Our facials were again, ok. Nothing spectacular but they did a decent job. We had an incident with the manager as we were leaving to pay where her laziness shown through very clearly and we vowed to never return. In my opinion this spot is suitable for those that may not have experienced a nicer venue or perhaps want a spa-like party. I expect a calm nurturing experience with fabulous customer service and that is not what I got here. I also feel the prices of Body By Brooklyn are too high for the service you receive. For those prices I expected much butter. read more

Not surprised to see that the other reviews mirror what BF and I found as well. We went for a couple's massage. We had some time to kill before so we hung out in the wet lounge. That was cool but they made a big deal or telling us to be at the bench waiting for our massage pick-up at 3:25. We made sure we did that but clearly the therapists or front desk were not as pressed. After sitting there for a while, I finally went to reception and the abysmal dude at the front desk (all of whose service skills can fit on a hangnail) was like oh huh...seems like one of our therapists was running late and noone thought it would be a good idea to to tell us or ask us if we were ok with the appt starting and ending later. i mean, not like we could possibly have plans to do anything after, right? So we finally got in and I thought it was weird that the headrest on the massage table did not adjust up. I hate laying with my neck low and that was a major source of discomfort. The room was cold and I had to ask for heat. I also asked for an aromatherapy oil but don't believe I got it. All that said, my therapist was great and my BF enjoyed his as well, so at least that wasn't $300 bucks totally wasted. After the massages, we went back to the water lounge, where there were no clean towels left. Had to actually tell someone ( at spas with even a rudimentary level of service they keep an eye on these things) and wait at least 10 minutes. When the towels arrived, they still had stains on them. To put a cherry on it, none of the hair dryers in the locker rooms (mens or womens) were working. that kinda sucked cause it was kinda cold out and also my birthday so would have been nice to look dry and presentable. when i told the asshole with the flock of seagulls haircut at the front desk, he shrugged indifferently and told me he had one at the front desk. would have been nice if the bathroo attendant spoke even 2 words of English and was able to tell me that herself before I got dressed. So overall - 2 stars only for massage quality. Service and amenities seriously lacking. And really, surly flock of seagulls at the front desk does not need to be in a service job. read more

Body By Brooklyn was amazing. I hosted my best friend's bachelorette here with six ladies and we all raved about our services. Note: we are all particular about spas and their services so for every single girl to come out loving their therapist and service says so much. I can't enough, though, about our point of contact, Shawn. From the beginning of our email correspondence to our payments at the end, Shawn was flawless. He was extremely responsive, polite, accommodating and such a pleasure to work with. He gave us an extra bottle of champagne and we just all felt pampered and spoiled. The prices are EXTREMELY reasonable for what you get and I will DEFINITELY be recommending Body by Brooklyn to my friends. I probably will come on my own as well to get more massages. This place sucks. Had it not been for Ramir's platza treatment I would have been completely unsatisfied. The customer service was appalling, the locker room/ wet bar were never stocked with towels, and the various staff members milling about aimlessly were useless and annoying. The jacuzzi was also dirty with some weird smelly film on top of it. No one monitors noise level either, I understand it's not a 1:1 massage room but there was a party of six women yelling and swearing while I was attempting to relax... The front desk staff forgot to schedule a facial for someone I was with and instead of addressing the problem with a solution ( that would be too much to ask in this place) they could not even muster a simply apology. Instead, they complained back to us, the guests, that it was somehow our fault they didn't book the facial? Did not even make sense. After complaining to the manager about our experience we were once again not provided with any meaningful solution but instead "thanks for your feedback". The platza treatment was great but overall, this place is nasty- stay away. read more

Where do I begin? At 6pm on a Wed evening- August 10th, I decided to indulge in a spa night with my girlfriends for my bday. We arrive 6:08pm. Since the so closes at 8pm I figured we had MORE than enough time to just do the wet lounge. Plus I received comp passes. We check in and receptionist alerts the spa is closing early around 7. I mentioned this is our first time and I'm not sure if less than an HR is enough time . She went to the back and out came the manager (I'm assuming ). Manager said "I can give you one hour. ". Are we really negotiating the hours that are provided on your business?! At that time it was 6:12. So I responded " so at 7:12 we have to leave." She shrugged and said yea. I proposed allowing us to keep our passes for another time and still experience the 1/2 Hr time frame since we don't live in the area and came to celebrate my bday. She said why don't you do the 30min facial. To cut it short, she didn't barge. We decided to just do it because we will probably not return . They didn't provide a comp champagne as it was mentioned on the pass. It was very rushed. They even came into the wet lounge to start shutting things down. This spa was easy to get to. Someone to help and greet you as soon as you walk in the door. All staff is willing to help. Rodolfo was my massage therapist. He was great. It was my first time getting a massage so he explained to me everything he was doing and how it helps. He always checked if I was okay and that the pressure wasn't too much. We had a group of 12 visit Body by Brooklyn for a bachelorette. I have to agree with the majority of other Yelpers on the overpriced package fee and terrible service. The jacuzzi was closed the entire 5 hours we were there (on a Saturday) which was the only other wet lounge offering besides the sauna and the steam room. With that said, we weren't offered a complimentary drink to make up for it nevermind a partial refund. The service was horrendous - they need some serious training in this area which obviously comes from the top down. Would not recommend or ever come back again. read more

The masseuses are great, but the spa staff is terrible. I went with a bachelorette party, so there were 7 of us, and they had no lockers for us. All of us our stuff was stored in the men's locker room, which would be fine, except when we went into the ladies locker room there were dozens of open lockers, they'd just lost the keys to them. We also tried to order drinks in the Dry Bar, and the staff paid zero attention to us. We ordered the drinks 3 times before leaving, which was even after the manager said he would comp the drinks. It's also very dark and not relaxing spa-like in the WetBar area with dirty towels everywhere and no windows. Overall, I would NOT recommend it for the price. read more
