Boil Daddy has some really good Cajun flavors, and when the food is good it really hits the spot. Unfortunately, the quality is not always consistent. A few times the shrimp seemed overcooked or not very fresh and ended up mushy, which was disappointing. Because of this inconsistency, I plan to start ordering from another Cajun seafood restaurant where the quality has been better. It is disappointing because I enjoy Boil Daddy's flavors, but the quality issues make it hard to keep ordering. read more

Dipesh, our friendly server, helped us decide on our order and gave excellent recommendations (and welcomed us into the place with a smile!) We ordered the fish and chips, along with 1 pound of shrimp with a mix of sauces. What I loved most about this place (besides the service) is that the shrimp were cleaned really well - very few crawfish places actually clean the shrimp's alimentary canal and we saw it was very clean. Probably the best seafood boil in San Diego ! Came here with my buddies and we ordered a lot ! I started things off with the calamari and fish and chips. Calamari was amazing but the fish n chips was the best I ever had !!! My buddy got the wings and crab cakes and fell in love with them ! My seafood bag was shrimp, green mussels, and crawfish ! Well first the server was super rude and actually got upset when we ordered a second round of food. Second, the sea food boils was SWEET even after we ordered a spicy one. as someone who loves savory this was nasty. On top of that the markup was insane. we paid almost $300 for 2 solo king crab legs and 1 pound shrimp and 1 pound of clams. Fantastic experience. The seafood (I got lobster tail and my partner got the snow crab) was fresh and delicious with good portions. The sauce was delicious, and I ended up dipping my fries in it afterward. Service was excellent and attentive. The price of this place was cheaper than expected, especially being so close to the airport. I wish the bag of seafood would've had more sauce in it. But, I guess I did see on the menu that you could've paid more for sauce. Also requesting for salt, pepper and lemons was kind of a hassle there. How we (ALMOST) attended the "Grand Opening"! What a title! I was definitely shocked how 59 other epic Yelpers managed to write a review before I did, and I started writing it when i was still here! The keyboard speed is insane! We showed up about 655PM and juuuuust missed the "FREE SEAFOOD BUFFET". If only I had known, but fortunately about five different employees and/or owners let us know over the course of the dinner that we had just missed the free buffet. I feel really mad about missing it, because, apparently we were wanted there. It may have even been hosted specifically with us in mind. I gotta say though; sometimes this generation of iPad parenting is a real downer. I mean I know that my parents threatened me with corporal punishment if I didn't stop screaming, so I assume that helped. Unfortunately these days it's just "hey junior, take this iPad and watch Scooby Blews Clues" instead of "if you don't stop screaming, you're sleeping in the alleyway tonight!". Regardless, I may have actually been at Boil Daddy Daycare instead of a restaurant. The number of parent-less children was greater than the sum of crab legs in the whole place. Onto the food. We ordered the regular boil. Mild spicy. Shrimp, clams, snow crab, and linguine. The potato, corn, and sausage is a typical and wonderful addition. The spice blend reminded me a bit more of a chunky Italian pasta sauce rather than a Cajun seafood boil. It was sweet-ish and garlic-tomato heavy. It isn't bad by any means, but less Cajun than I was hoping for. Less Emril Legasse, more Mario Battali. All in all, not an awful price for a decent amount of food. The amount of garlic is likely what added to the price tag. It's definitely a bit of a hidden gem (and somewhat well hidden if you're not familiar with that corner of Liberty Station). Parking is plentiful, come and give it a shot. I'll totally come back just to try out something else! read more

My family and I visited Boil Daddy today to celebrate my birthday. I ordered the World Famous Daddy's Catch; 1lb king crab legs, 2 lobsters, clams and crawfish. Tried this place for the first time and so glad we did! Ordered the crab cakes Po'Boy and the fish Po'Boy. Both were very good. Portions are large and one sandwich can easily be shared. I can say from the moment we walked in to when we left all full and happy from the seafood it was a great experience! Our server, Aldrin, was out of this world! My coworkers and I had a business lunch at the new Boil Daddy location, at Harbor Square in Liberty Station a couple of weeks ago, during the "Soft Opening" period. It was awesome!!! Décor: super inviting and pleasant; big-screen TV's throughout,; well appointed bar with $5 IPA (Stone no less!!). The bar area is very pleasant and I predict it will be a real hit. The food: per owner's recommendations, I had 1/2lbs. of mussels with andouille sausages, flavored with the daddy sauce: D-LISH! We share the fries: delish! guess what: the po'boy sandwich and the crawfish my co-workers ordered were delicious too! They provide plastic gloves and bibs, so I even managed to stay stain-free!! That's more than I can say with 70% of my meals. Long story short, the place is super convivial; the owner is a gem and will offer recommends if requested; the waiting is excellent and super pleasant. I will most certainly come back, especially with friends. This restaurant is a huge hit!! Best come soon before lines star forming around the corner!
