Waited an hour with a crying toddler because she was really hungry. By the time we got a table, we were told that the only item on the menu that we could eat was sold out. How do you run a business with out of stock item at 7 pm dinner time and you close at 11 pm? Huge disappointment. We came here around noon on a Monday and the wait was about 45 minutes for a party of 3. Unfortunately, service was really slow! We were hangry by the time we finally got our food. The menu offers various hot soup options with different spice levels (none, mild, medium, hot and flaming). The ingredients are all listed on the menu so there are no soup-rises. Beef Hot Soup * Broth was light so it allowed the ingredients to add different flavors while it simmered down * Tomatoes added a subtle sweetness and tang * Firm tofu pieces soaked up the delicious broth * Fried tofu skin was soft and slightly chewy * Beef slices were thin and cooked quickly * Napa was found throughout (generous portion) * Pot was topped with cilantro and green onions * White rice was soft and warm Overall, the beef hot soup had a good balance of protein and veggies. This is my must go to place to when I visit California for hot pot. You get your own personal hot pot starting at $11.95. If you go during lunch you also can get a free green or black tea. Soo good. Expect to wait in line during peak hours and the wait is long. I once waited 30+minutes. Good thing though, as this place is getting more popular, more shops are opening up. This is Taiwanese style hot pot, so the lamb pot will have the normal sour cabbage. If that does not fit your tastebuds, don't get it. You can never go wrong with beef pot when in doubt what to order. The menu also has the House pot which is the stinky tofu pot. This is also an acquired taste. When in doubt, order the beef pot ^_^ This style hotpot comes preset with the meat and vegetables. One size. Your order will come with a bowl of rice or noodles. If you wanted anything extra such as meat or vegetables, this will be available for order. You can also choose how spicy you would like the hotpot. Medium is spicy enough. Tip: Soup is refillable! My favorite is the lamb pot, second favorite is the beef pot. End your meal with macaroon ice cream. "OMG!" That's all I have to say about that. read more

I would say my biggest note is the service isn't great here even though they seemed to have lots of extra staff, but that the food is good and you get a LOT of food for the price. We ordered the beef soup and the curry soup. Both were really good! The beef soup was mild, but was still pretty spicy, especially as the soup heated up, and the curry we got as hot, which was less spicy due to the milk in the curry but still spicy! The wait was also pretty long, I think we waited almost 45min for a table? When I finally got the text about my table being ready, I didn't respond in 1 minute and they were about to give my table away! So be prepared to rush in after getting the text. We've been coming to this location for a few years and the quality is consistently good and service is also typically very efficient. The only thing I'd note is that the level of spiciness in some pots is a little unpredictable. For example, during our most recent visit, both my wife and I ordered mild for our pots; however, hers came out completely void of any spiciness while mine was way beyond mild. The lunch menu items while practically identical to the dinner menu items are typically about $1 cheaper. The place gets very crowded during lunch and dinner hours; so, if you don't like waiting try to get there before (5:30 for dinner and 11:30 for lunch) the rush. read more

I love boiling point, I really do, but today while I was leaving the restaurant, the staff went after me and accused me of not paying my bill. I came into the restaurant as a party of 2. The other person I was with paid the bill first, then I left a couple minutes after, but the bill was paid. As soon as the staff got me I had explained to them that the other person in my party had paid, so we then proceeded to the cash register to verify that the bill had been paid. This is where I had found out that they had charged us with the wrong bill for a different table. This event was very embarrassing for me, as it had made a scene and other people in the restaurant were watching. Surprisingly there was no crowd but it became crowded at 2pm (late lunch probably). I got the beef and the new herbal pork rib hot pot. The amount of meat they put in the hot pot was very little compared to the glass noodles that were stuck to the bottom of the pot. It was sadly more of a vegetable hot pot than a beef hot pot. The herbal hot pot soup was good but the pork ribs were over cooked and very chewy. If you come during lunch you get a choice of green tea and black tea. My friends couldn't finish their black tea because it was just so sweet. I would stick with the green tea since it isn't as sweet. Unfortunately you can't ask for a no sugar version. read more

He didn't finish his meal neither because you eat a lot of sauce along with the food. We tried my friend's miso pot and we both love the Japanese miso! Service has improved so much since before and during the pandemic. My family dine here weekly. We have young children and the staff here are always kind and accommodating. Props to management and staff. Food is always so delicious here. My go to is either beef or seafood tofu, mild spicy because it can get really spicy. My husband likes the beef. We like the garlic pork appetizer. The holy cow beef appetizer is also very good. Kids also get a free kids meal: udon and veggies in broth. I like that we get a free tea with our lunch order. After hearing about boiling point for quite some time, I finally had the chance to come with a friend. I ordered the beef hot pot, which was supposedly one of the most popular dishes here. I've heard others complain about the fact that the number of items in the broth makes it difficult to move things around, but I didn't mind that so much - I was actually impressed with the level of variety you get in the bowl and the amount of veggies/noodles you get for a relatively low price. The one thing about having everything in the pot at once is that it's easier for some things like the cabbage to get over cooked, since it would be difficult to take it out at just the right time. The flavor of the broth itself was satisfying, and it was fun to play around with the dipping sauces - I found myself going back to what I think was doubanjiang and mixing it with splashes of the others. I left full and satisfied after having sampled all of the items in my bowl, except I think the sodium levels got a bit too high for me - the salty broth and salty dipping sauces made it easy for this to get out of control. Even though I liked having the flavor contrast, I may just stick to the broth itself next time to avoid this issue. Overall, I think boiling point is a good option for a quicker, cheaper version of a hot pot meal that doesn't skimp on flavor or variety. read more

From what I heard, the stinky tofu aroma used to be much more stronger, but since some customers started to complain, they have reduced the stinkiness. Actually, I personally prefer the stinkier the better! That's why it's called stinky tofu, right? Some people might find it stinky, it's a distinct taste that you might have to grow into liking. This is the closest you can get to stinky tofu Taiwan-nightmarket style. For lunch time they even include one free choice of tea! Compare to their rival Uniboil I think Boiling Point has more fresh and special ingredients like the wasabi rice ball, quail eggs, pork intestines and the preserved vegetables. Overall, I love it! Guess I'll be coming here more often! My goal is to try everything on their menu! I know they have a concept store in Pasadena that includes more organic choices and higher grade ingredients.
